ATIGIBTC Chapter 142

Extra 6

Moonlit: The last chapter ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚

“Go home?” He Fang blinked his eyes. He had been focused on checking the next area to be developed for the nightmare beasts forest. Snapping out of his thoughts, he looked at the man with long golden hair sitting on his small bed, who wasn’t even properly dressed.

Since they confirmed their relationship, the Divine Lord had really been getting more and more shameless by the day. That outfit looked like it could barely hold together. He even ordered takeout, then just lazily went to open the door in that messy state. Some grumpy people might have thrown the food right in his face, yet he happily gave them a five-star review. Truly ruthless.

“Yes, go home. Do you want to go home?” The Divine Lord casually brushed his golden hair and asked.

“Can you let me go back?” He Fang thought that since he had come to this world, it must be a complete transmigration; he had never heard that he could go back home.

“Yes.” The Divine Lord nodded. “But there’s not enough time. Unlike transmigration, I’m only briefly taking you back. It consumes faith, but the faith accumulated during this time should last for one day.”

He Fang was a bit surprised. “You used faith to bring me here?”

“Yes, it’s not easy.” The Divine Lord leaned helplessly against the head of the bed, hands spread out. “Probably because both of us are gods—gods don’t believe in gods—so the NPCs created have very little faith. To accumulate the faith needed to bring you over, I spent quite a lot of time painstakingly gathering it bit by bit from countless massive data. That period was so dark, working day and night.”

He Fang felt a little guilty because bringing him to this world made the Divine Lord disliked by the NPCs. Before bringing him here, the Divine Lord had worked so hard.

“I… am very sorry.” Before he could think carefully, the words slipped out.

“But as long as you can be by my side, I can accept any situation. Besides, now I can just lie here doing nothing and earn faith effortlessly. This is a once-and-for-all solution. I’m already at the peak of my life,” the Divine Lord said, deliberately lifting the hem of his shirt to reveal the beautifully defined abs underneath.

He Fang’s eyes flickered slightly. “Why did you suddenly want me to go home?”

“Guessing you might be homesick,” the Divine Lord said.

He Fang lowered his gaze. Over there, the only people he still missed deeply were his parents. Even though in the end he had exhausted all their patience. In reality, it was himself he was avoiding, not them.

“I can’t see them again,” He Fang said.

“Hm?”

“I’ve already come to this world. I belong here now. I can’t have any more contact with my parents. To them, I’m already dead. If I appeared again, it would only confuse and hurt them more.” Unconsciously, He Fang curled his legs up on the gaming chair and buried his face between them. “I don’t want them to worry about me anymore.”

The Divine Lord’s beautiful eyes fixed on the curled-up He Fang. He stepped forward, pulled He Fang’s arm gently, and carefully cupped his cheek in his palm, stroking it softly. “No, they’re your parents. They wouldn’t really hate you.”

He Fang lowered his eyes.

“How about we go see them first?” the Divine Lord asked, holding He Fang’s fingers, squeezing his palm gently in a comforting gesture. “Go take a look, so you can have peace of mind. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to meet them.”

He Fang’s eyes flickered slightly, then he looked up. “Seeing them will only make me miss them more.”

“You miss them now, too,” the Divine Lord smiled warmly, like gentle sunlight illuminating the corner where He Fang secretly hid, dispelling the shadows.

He Fang gripped the Divine Lord’s hand. “I’ll go get changed into some nicer clothes.”

The Divine Lord’s expression became subtly complicated. “Then shall I give you some privacy first?”

He Fang: “?”

“I’m afraid if I watch you change clothes, we won’t be able to leave today,” the Divine Lord said honestly.

Then the Divine Lord was locked outside the bedroom door.

Divine Lord: “…” Why am I so sharp-tongued?

When He Fang and the Divine Lord returned to He Fang’s small city, there was a moment of dizziness. This place was very familiar. A place exactly the same as in his mind, unchanged, where He Fang had once run away from.

As an unfilial son who had always worried his parents, He Fang now felt even more nervous approaching home. He unconsciously clenched the Divine Lord’s hand beside him. Looking up, he found the Divine Lord wearing a mask and a hat.

“What’s this?” He Fang was stunned.

“Although no one in the main city cares about my looks, in this world, I still have my pride in looking good,” the Divine Lord explained. He did this because He Fang wanted to come here quietly, without attracting attention.

He Fang looked at the Divine Lord, who was extremely vain and loved to experiment with his appearance every day to look more beautiful. But now, fully covered up like this, he looked completely unattractive.

He Fang stared at the Divine Lord, whose eyes were almost completely hidden, then suddenly reached out and took off the other’s hat. The beautiful, golden, long hair spilled out, flowing like a radiant beam of sunlight in the air.

The Divine Lord gazed at He Fang, watching as He Fang reached out again to remove his mask and straighten his hair. He heard He Fang say, “Beautiful.”

He Fang watched the Divine Lord’s already paler-than-average cheeks slowly flush with red. Then, the Divine Lord deliberately tossed his own hair aside. “I should’ve dressed up properly earlier instead of coming looking so rough.”

He Fang looked at the Divine Lord, who never forgot to be a little flirtatious no matter when, and saw his ears turn red. He Fang said, “You look good in anything you wear.”

The Divine Lord faltered, pursing his lips in a smile that never quite fully formed, looking somewhat awkward.

He Fang wasn’t lying. It really was beautiful. No matter how the Divine Lord dressed, he always looked good. Any outfit he wore carried a unique kind of beauty.

He Fang just spoke whatever came to mind, but the Divine Lord seemed very pleased. Suddenly, he bent down and, unbelievably fast, pressed a quick kiss on He Fang’s lips. Then he straightened up, stroked his lips, and licked the finger that had just touched them. The meaning was unmistakable.

He Fang’s cheeks flushed red. He didn’t make any other moves. The hint was so obvious; if they lingered here any longer, this trip home might end right here.

At that moment, He Fang suddenly noticed the people around them. Many had already noticed what was happening here, their eyes shining one by one. The Divine Lord was too beautiful. Such beauty in the real world was like a lethal weapon. Although He Fang wanted the Divine Lord to always keep his most beautiful appearance, it was undeniably too captivating.

But the Divine Lord seemed indifferent to all the gazes around them. He simply held He Fang’s hand like a clingy pet.

“I wonder, what if I brought a daughter-in-law like you to meet my parents?” He Fang teased, holding the Divine Lord’s hand under everyone’s watchful eyes. Having spent a long time in the main city, he had actively worked on overcoming his social anxiety, which had improved a lot. Facing so many eyes no longer triggered a physical reaction; though still nervous, he could speak properly.

“I’m this good-looking. If even a god like me, who wouldn’t?” The Divine Lord proudly tossed his hair, completely unaware of what humility meant.

He Fang couldn’t help but smile. The Divine Lord didn’t care at all about the fact that people in the main city disliked him.

Walking down the road, He Fang looked up, suddenly feeling the place was unfamiliar. Because of his social anxiety, he had always kept his head down while walking. So the scenery he knew best on this path was what was at his feet. Now that he looked up, he saw vast clusters of unknown flowers and the dense branches of trees gently swaying. It was utterly beautiful.

He had walked this street many times, yet no one remembered him. He didn’t talk to anyone, didn’t make contact with anyone. He Fang even wondered if, when his parents saw him, would they even recognize him?

He Fang let go of the Divine Lord’s hand, but the Divine Lord followed closely behind without leaving his side. At that moment, He Fang stopped in front of a small shop and suddenly smiled. “This shop always has a long line after school for fried chicken cutlets. My mom once bought me one. It was delicious. I’ve always thought about saving my pocket money to buy one myself, but I was too shy to talk to the clerk, so I never ate it again.”

Back then, because of his personality, he hadn’t told his parents he liked this snack. In his whole life, he’d only eaten this chicken cutlet once—just once.

He Fang missed this place a lot. Just then, a streak of golden light zipped past him. The Divine Lord said to the shop, “One chicken cutlet, please.”

He Fang was stunned. “Do we have money?”

“Yes.” The Divine Lord winked at He Fang. “If we’re coming, of course we have money.”

He Fang’s face flushed. Although he did have money, it was currency used in the main city, which definitely wouldn’t work in the real world.

“Hello? One chicken cutlet?” The Divine Lord spoke again and noticed the clerk girl was stunned by his beauty. Hearing his prompt, she blushed and hurriedly started preparing the chicken cutlet.

“She’s totally stunned by your looks,” He Fang blinked, seeing for the first time a regular person so flustered that they showed social anxiety.

“Of course,” the Divine Lord said proudly. “Weren’t you the one who stared at me in a daze back then?”

He Fang immediately coughed awkwardly. Indeed… when he first saw the Divine Lord’s face, he pressed his forehead against the peephole and stared for a long time, not daring to believe what he was seeing was real.

“Handsome, your chicken cutlet is ready.” The clerk, cheeks flushed, handed over a chicken cutlet, glancing several times with feigned casualness.

Looking at the single chicken cutlet, He Fang asked, “Why only one? Not enough money?”

“Because I want to share it with you,” the Divine Lord said, bringing the chicken cutlet to He Fang’s lips. He Fang took a bite.

He Fang and the Divine Lord sat together on a small roadside bench. He Fang tasted that chicken cutlet again, but the texture was a bit different from his memory. The Divine Lord took a bite but showed little expression.

“Only when you really eat it do you realize it’s not as delicious as you remembered,” He Fang said. The chicken cutlet was crispy and tasty, but after having all kinds of carefully prepared food in the main city, plus the exotic seasonings from Angel City’s rare plants, the flavors got better and better each day. Now eating this chicken cutlet, He Fang wasn’t sure if his memory had idealized it or if it wasn’t that good.

“Mm.” The Divine Lord knew He Fang was lost in thought. At this moment, he didn’t need to say anything; He Fang could find the answer he wanted on his own.

“Sometimes, it’s the obsession with something that leaves you feeling empty once you finally have it,” He Fang said after finishing the last bite of chicken cutlet. “But once you’ve eaten it, you stop thinking about it.”

Was the longing for his parents like that, too? Would seeing them bring a sense of relief?

Would his parents forgive him for all these years of shortcomings?

Even after working hard to overcome social anxiety, his sensitive self was still timid.

The Divine Lord quietly hooked his finger around He Fang’s—a tender gesture. Whenever He Fang touched the Divine Lord, he felt comforted.

“Handsome, handsome, can I add you on WeChat?” Suddenly, a few pretty girls walking by started asking the Divine Lord for his WeChat.

He Fang froze for a moment. Being asked for WeChat, even if it wasn’t him but his companion, was a completely new experience for He Fang. It was so unfamiliar that he even forgot he was supposed to feel jealous.

“Sorry,” the Divine Lord said naturally to the girls. He held He Fang’s hand, palms facing, fingers interlaced. “My lover would be angry.”

The girls looked at He Fang and the Divine Lord, their eyes full of surprise.

He Fang’s face flushed. In the real world, acceptance of same-sex relationships wasn’t very high. Besides, he hadn’t lived in an open, big city. The expressions of the girls were strange, so they only muttered a quick apology and turned to leave.

Seeing their reaction, He Fang’s heart sank.

“He Fang?” Just as He Fang was still caught off guard, a questioning, uncertain voice came from behind.

The moment he heard that voice, He Fang’s whole body stiffened.

He Fang had deliberately sat here.

This was the necessary path home. His parents, finishing work, would definitely notice his presence.

If his parents saw him, he would get to see them properly.

If not, he could at least watch them from afar.

It was a gambler’s mentality. But He Fang forgot the Divine Lord was like a super-bright, conspicuous spotlight here; no one could possibly not glance this way.

He Fang stood up and turned around.

He saw his mother.

Compared to his memory, she looked a little older, but still seemed spirited.

He didn’t know if he felt relieved or a little disappointed.

“You’re back.” When his mother saw him, her tone was full of emotion and a sigh, but there was also longing and joy.

Just hearing those words made He Fang feel a heavy sadness pressing on his chest. He slowly spoke, “Sorry, Mom. Your son has been willful.”

His mother’s eyes flickered uncertainly. She looked up and down at He Fang, but after seeing something, her gaze suddenly froze, and, as if avoiding, she shifted her eyes toward the Divine Lord standing beside He Fang.

He Fang immediately introduced, “This is my… my partner. Mom, you can call him Ah Sheng.”

His mother’s expression was stunned but surprisingly accepting. Gradually, her emotions calmed down, and she slowly asked, “Have you eaten today?”

“No.” He Fang shook his head.

“Would you like to buy groceries with Mom?” she asked.

“Yeah.”

He Fang led the Divine Lord following behind his mother. Because of his social anxiety, even when he used to help his mother buy groceries, he would just follow behind her, carrying things. Sometimes, he even carried the wrong person’s bags because they were too heavy. But now, He Fang could be more open, discussing what to buy with his mother, and even the Divine Lord would follow behind to pay.

His mother would occasionally look back and see the Divine Lord clingingly holding He Fang’s hand, her gaze always subtle and complicated.

People passing through the market couldn’t help but glance at the Divine Lord. A man with such high looks was like a professional spotlight, constantly attracting everyone’s attention. Under such pressure, He Fang surprisingly didn’t feel timid; sometimes he even talked to him, but his focus was always on his mother, ignoring the gazes around them.

His mother silently kept an eye on the situation here.

“Mom, I brought a male partner home. Would you be unhappy?” He Fang thought no one would dislike the Divine Lord, but for a mother to accept her son having a man as a partner would usually be difficult.

His mother just looked at He Fang with a complicated gaze but ultimately said nothing.

Because of his mother’s silence, He Fang remembered the time when his parents became more and more silent. He couldn’t help but feel a little down. Beside him, the Divine Lord remained very quiet.

He Fang was very grateful for the Divine Lord’s quietness. What he needed was the Lord’s companionship, not the Lord making all decisions for him.

Back home, his mother went to cook, and his father returned.

His father was momentarily stunned when he saw He Fang, then noticing his mother was cooking, he turned his gaze to He Fang sitting in his spot, gradually hiding the shock in his eyes.

He Fang’s father sat on the sofa. For a moment, the atmosphere in the living room was very silent.

“How have you been recently?” his father asked.

“Very well.” He Fang looked up and met his father’s eyes directly.

His father looked into He Fang’s eyes without any fear, truly looking at him in a way different from before, not like the timid child he once was.

His father asked about He Fang’s life. After learning the identity of the Divine Lord, his expression became complicated.

He Fang couldn’t exactly tell his parents he had traveled across worlds, but he painted a good picture of his current life.

He Fang had never imagined that one day he could calmly chat with his parents like this. He realized that perhaps the resentment he thought his parents had toward him was just his own deep fear of reality.

His mother prepared a table full of good dishes, and only then did He Fang finally calm down. After running away to other places and losing face to return, he hadn’t expected that now he could come back peacefully, quietly sit in his seat, look at his parents, and talk to them.

His parents remained mostly silent, but He Fang knew they were watching him the whole time.

He ate the food his mother made and slowly said, “Mom, you still remember my favorite dishes.”

His mother paused with her chopsticks.

“Mom, it’s delicious. Thank you.” He Fang placed the clean bowl and chopsticks on the table, signaling the meal was coming to an end.

This silence used to make He Fang feel uncomfortable. Probably because of himself, the family atmosphere had grown increasingly quiet.

But now, he no longer felt that way, because he didn’t see any dislike toward himself in his parents’ expressions.

“Have you two gotten married?” his father asked.

He Fang replied, “We haven’t had a formal wedding, but everyone knows.”

“Do you have many friends now?” his mother caught the key words in He Fang’s tone.

He Fang was momentarily surprised, thinking of his many friends in the main city. A smile lifted the corners of his mouth, and joy shone in his eyes: “Yes, I have a lot of friends. Everyone treats me very well, and I hope to be a good friend to them too.”

He Fang’s parents gazed intently at their child. When He Fang spoke these words, his gentle tone moved them deeply. After a long moment, his father said, “You’ve changed a lot. Is it because of your friends?”

He Fang blinked and finally showed a smile. “If I didn’t have friends, I wouldn’t have changed.”

“Is your partner also a reason for your change?” his mother asked.

He Fang was momentarily stunned. He looked up and glanced at the Divine Lord beside him: “He is the catalyst for my change.”

For a while, although there was a slight silence in the room, an inexplicable sense of reassurance from his parents filled the air.

“You have to live well from now on. If you have a partner, you must take good care of him.” After saying this, his father paused, glanced at the Divine Lord, and corrected himself, “Make sure he takes good care of you.”

He Fang pressed his lips lightly, feeling a little embarrassed at this point: “Yes, okay, Dad.”

“Mom is very happy to see you like this now,” his mother said.

“Thank you, Mom.” He Fang felt that the tight knot in his heart had completely dissolved at this moment.

“How long will you stay?” his mother asked.

“We’re leaving tonight.”

Hearing how hurried He Fang sounded, his mother didn’t complain much.

He Fang left while his parents watched him go. Before leaving, he looked back once and saw the rare calm, nostalgia, and affection in his parents’ eyes.

Suddenly, an inexplicable ache welled up in his heart.

“It’s okay. I’ll use faith to bless Mom and Dad.” The Divine Lord reached out and gently stroked He Fang’s cheek. The warm touch comforted He Fang a little.

“I always feel like Mom and Dad look at me strangely.” After returning to the main city, He Fang wasn’t exactly feeling down, but being able to see his parents was still good.

“That’s to be expected. Your mom and dad noticed we don’t have shadows anymore,” the Divine Lord said.

He Fang was momentarily stunned: “?”

“After all, this is a brief overlap of worlds using faith. It’s hard to make it perfect. Maintaining physical stability is one thing, but creating shadows is really difficult,” the Divine Lord shrugged as if it was obvious. “I tried my best, but this is still the realm of gods; I can’t go too far.”

He Fang was stunned. Suddenly, he seemed to understand the meaning behind his parents’ looks when they said goodbye.

Was that… treating him and the Divine Lord like souls?

For a moment, He Fang felt both amused and helpless, but also thought maybe that was for the best.

He and his parents were no longer people from the same world. In the end, they watched each other from afar, shared one reunion dinner,  and said a proper farewell. That was the final ending.

Holding the Divine Lord’s hand, He Fang looked at the blond man: “Mom said that from now on, we should live well together. Dad said we should take good care of each other.”

The Divine Lord smiled and kissed the back of He Fang’s hand, as if making a once-in-a-lifetime promise.
