The crowd, still some distance away, hesitated for a moment upon hearing Fu Mingxiu’s words, unsure whether to believe him.
Just then, the nearest mech to Fu Mingxiu and Nan Yi suddenly moved.
The nearly 100-meter-tall mech raised its leg and began stepping toward Fu Mingxiu and Nan Yi.
Fu Mingxiu gritted his teeth, trying to guide the mech away from the crowd.
At nearly 100 meters tall, equivalent to a 30-40 story building, this was considered a small-sized mech in the interstellar world, known for its agility.
Nan Yi trembled in fear, and Fu Mingxiu simply picked him up, continuing to run.
Despite Fu Mingxiu’s speed, his legs were no match for the mech’s enormous steps. Especially since he was carrying Nan Yi, it didn’t take long for the mech to catch up.
The mech raised its foot and stomped down, intending to crush them underfoot.
As the foot came down, the sky above them turned dark. Nan Yi, terrified, turned pale, his eyes flooded with tears. Holding Fu Mingxiu’s waist, he didn’t even realize he was muttering, “I never thought I would die with this guy, I should’ve never come to find you…”
“My parents will have to bury their own son, I’m so sorry for them, boo hoo…”
Shivering and crying, he realized that, to his surprise, the excruciating pain he had imagined didn’t come.
“You little brat, get this straight, I came to save you, and now I’m stuck with this thing because of you. Why are you blaming me?” Fu Mingxiu’s annoying voice suddenly reached his ears.
“W-We’re not dead?” Nan Yi asked in a daze.
“Not yet, but who knows what’ll happen next,” Fu Mingxiu replied.
Looking around, Nan Yi finally noticed that Fu Mingxiu had somehow managed to carry him and leap onto the back of the mech’s foot.
The enormous mech bent down, trying to grab Fu Mingxiu, but Fu Mingxiu, like a swift and agile eagle, always managed to dodge the mech’s giant hands with fluid ease.
Perhaps the person controlling the mech realized that capturing Fu Mingxiu this way wasn’t working. Weapons installed on the mech’s hands, legs, and elbows began firing wildly at Fu Mingxiu.
Nan Yi shut his eyes and cried, but quickly realized that making noise would affect Fu Mingxiu’s movements, so he tried his best to stifle his sobs, his body trembling like a little quail.
If the situation weren’t so urgent, Fu Mingxiu would have been amused by this guy.
Fortunately, they were currently jumping on the mech’s body, so the controlling person wasn’t firing highly destructive weapons—otherwise, the mech would have been destroyed. Even Fu Mingxiu, no matter how skilled, would have been blown to bits, and there’d be no chance to hop around like this.
When the people in the crowd saw the mechs actually moving, they realized the gravity of the situation and began to evacuate quickly.
However, as always, people couldn’t outrun mechs. While the one chasing Fu Mingxiu had been led away from the crowd, the other mechs soon began to show signs of movement as well.
There were a total of seven mechs parked here, and apart from the one with Fu Mingxiu, six remained. Two more had just been activated, but were still unable to move.
Fu Mingxiu felt a chill in his heart: the mech he’s dealing with now can’t activate large-scale destructive weapons, but the other mechs have no such constraints!
This was the Imperial Palace, with heavy security, and thousands of mechs stationed outside. But now the mechs inside the palace were in revolt, something no one had expected. Even if the outside troops received the news and activated the teleportation array to get here, it would still take at least five minutes.
Yet, these few mechs could easily obliterate hundreds or even thousands of people from this banquet with a single particle cannon.
Fu Mingxiu placed Nan Yi on his shoulder, switching from carrying him to hoisting him, then began climbing quickly.
His speed was so fast that it could hardly be called climbing—his S-level physical abilities and years of training allowed him to leap several meters in one bound, moving as nimbly as a peregrine falcon under the barrage of artillery.
“Fuck…” Nan Yi could only shiver and mutter the curse words he had never uttered before.
He couldn’t tell whether he was astonished or terrified.
His stomach hurt from being pressed against Fu Mingxiu’s shoulder.
It was so damn thrilling.
Despite Fu Mingxiu being careful, after all, he was racing against the lives of hundreds, even thousands, of people, and in pursuit of speed, he couldn’t avoid being hit by a stray bullet on his arm.
Bloodshot eyes flashed in Fu Mingxiu’s gaze, but his speed increased rather than slowed.
When I was burning mountains and boiling seas in the High Martial World and reversing the heavens, this damn mech was still a useless piece of scrap!
He gritted his teeth in determination and finally leaped to the mech’s head, aiming for the cockpit, smashing the door furiously.
This mech was a new model from the K-series, K62. K-series mechs were known for being small and fragile, with the only advantage being their high agility. They could be equipped with powerful weapons without becoming overly heavy and turning into sitting ducks. However, this agility was greatly reduced because of remote control, and the lack of heavy weapons in this mech meant that Fu Mingxiu, being right on top of it, was able to prevent it from using its destructive capabilities.
I guess I found a treasure!
Fu Mingxiu grinned.
Once he took over this mech, its agility would return to full force.
With any other mech, Fu Mingxiu would have to smash his bones just to break open the cockpit door, but this one could be tried.
Nan Yi watched as Fu Mingxiu punched the cockpit door again and again, his hands bloodied and battered, so violently that blood sprayed everywhere.
One drop landed on Nan Yi’s face.
The red Omega, now made even paler by the blood, looked like a celestial being, but his expression was filled with ferocity. As Nan Yi turned his head to look at him, he found his heart racing a little faster.
Eventually, the door was smashed open, and Fu Mingxiu tore it off, tossing it to the ground.
Then he entered the cockpit, tearing a few strips from his clothes and using them to bind Nan Yi’s wrist to a pillar-like object on the cockpit wall.
With the door gone, and the cockpit designed for only a single pilot, there was no consideration for anyone else. Fu Mingxiu knew his movements would be large and erratic, so he had no choice but to tie Nan Yi here. Otherwise, Nan Yi might fall off.
“I don’t know if these clothes and this pillar will hold, but your wrist is definitely going to hurt. If it breaks, just grab onto whatever you can. I won’t be able to help you later,” Fu Mingxiu said quickly to Nan Yi before sitting in the pilot’s seat.
By the time Nan Yi realized what was happening, Fu Mingxiu had already linked his mental waves to the mech, fighting the person controlling it for control.
Fu Mingxiu’s skills in this area were top-notch, and with his strong mental waves, along with the cockpit’s natural control over the mech, it didn’t take long for him to seize control.
From the time Fu Mingxiu ran to the cockpit and sat down in the pilot’s seat, it all seemed slow but took less than a minute.
However, for a mech that was about to slaughter humans, that minute was fleeting. Fortunately, it would take some time for the other two mechs to activate and move, so they hadn’t caused harm yet.
But if it took any longer, the situation would change.
The bad news was that the other four mechs seemed to be showing signs of activation.
Perhaps the person controlling them was angered by Fu Mingxiu, as they immediately activated their weapons, preparing to fire at the crowd ahead.
Fu Mingxiu acted first, launching a missile from the mech’s arm at the two mechs.
One of them, like the K-series, was a fragile one and was destroyed in a single hit, but the other had an energy shield and remained unscathed.
Fu Mingxiu wasn’t discouraged. Eliminating one meant there was one less to deal with, so he maneuvered the mech into a dive toward the shielded mech.
This mech, the Silver Moon 9, was a larger model with strong defense and offensive capabilities, making it a tough opponent.
At the same time, he continued firing the weapons on the mech to deplete the Silver Moon 9’s energy shield.
“At this rate, your ammo will run out before the Silver Moon 9’s energy shield is depleted,” the system warned Fu Mingxiu.
“It’s fine. The K62 still has an energy sword,” Fu Mingxiu replied.
The system was right; after Fu Mingxiu used up all the ammo, the Silver Moon 9’s energy shield was still holding, though its color had dimmed significantly.
Fu Mingxiu pulled the energy sword from the mech’s left arm and swung it toward the Silver Moon 9.
The Silver Moon 9, with its energy shield, braced for the attack.
But unexpectedly, Fu Mingxiu swiftly sidestepped past the Silver Moon 9, delivering four slashes that instantly turned the other four mechs parked nearby into headless scrap.
Though those four mechs hadn’t yet activated, they were ticking time bombs, and Fu Mingxiu couldn’t leave them behind.
He had to eliminate the threat completely.
“Ifucking love the K-series!” Fu Mingxiu laughed as he continued piloting.
With the K62’s agility and Fu Mingxiu’s extraordinary mental waves, combined with his skillful maneuvers and positioning, he was virtually unstoppable.
Meanwhile, Nan Yi was being tossed around by the mech’s erratic movements, almost foaming at the mouth. If not for the rope tying his wrist, he would have fallen off long ago.
Though he didn’t fall, the rope had rubbed his wrist raw, causing it to bleed.
By the time the operator of the Silver Moon 9 realized what had happened, the backup mechs were nothing but scrap.
Fu Mingxiu had completely ruined their plans, and the Silver Moon 9 was furious. It began firing at him with relentless barrage.
Fortunately, the crowd was positioned to Fu Mingxiu’s left, and with the K62 facing the Silver Moon 9, the crowd had mostly evacuated, so the barrage didn’t hit them.
However, there were still some stray shots, but Fu Mingxiu couldn’t afford to pay attention to that now.
He raised the energy sword and began battling the Silver Moon 9.
With the K62’s ammo exhausted, the Silver Moon 9 still had plenty of ammunition. Its shots came fast, but Fu Mingxiu’s quick reflexes allowed him to dodge. However, the mech’s abdomen was pierced on the right side.
The K62’s agility was greatly reduced.
