ABLO Chapter 42

Liu Minghu drove Ruan Mian to the dormitory inside the military area, personally sent him to the second floor, and handed him a key card.

Liu Minghu pointed to one of the rooms facing the sun and said, “Sister-in-law, this is your room. This room is the best room in the military dormitory. It’s spacious and comfortable. You can see the scenery outside when you open the window. The air is also fresh.”

Ruan Mian nodded. When he went upstairs, he found that the view from the window was indeed pleasing to the eye.

“This used to be where our Major General lived. When he heard that you were coming, he opened up the place for you overnight. The decorations and things in the room were prepared by the Major General himself. You should go in and see if you like it. If you feel that there is something wrong, just tell me.”

Liu Minghu had never noticed their Major General being so attentive before, nor had he ever seen the Major General care so much about anyone. Chen Xiao’er mistakenly thought that the two of them got engaged so early because of a family alliance.

Ruan Mian held the key card and nodded gently, “Lu…your Major General, which room is he staying in now?”

Liu Minghu smiled and pointed to the room opposite him and said, “It’s here. This room is on the shady side. There are better rooms, but the Major General insisted on staying here. I guess he wanted to be closer to you.”

Liu Minghu was too embarrassed to say it directly, but it was clear that their Major General was eager to bring his Omega into his own territory.

All wolves are the same; not only are they domineering, but they’re also extremely possessive. Yet they insist on pretending, acting like they don’t care.

“This is the Major General’s key card. He asked me to give it to you as well.” Liu Minghu looked at Ruan Mian and blinked ambiguously. “Sister-in-law, the Major General said that you can enter his room whenever you want, whether he is there or not. You can go directly to the Major General’s room tomorrow to wait for him and give him a surprise.”

He finished speaking with a hint of meaning in his words, then saw Ruan Mian raise his eyes and blink gently. Ruan Mian’s eyes were as clear as black pearls washed clean, free of any impurities.

Liu Minghu: “…” He suddenly felt so dirty.

He clenched his fist against his lips and coughed gently: “Uh… Sister-in-law, I didn’t mean anything else by what I said just now; I just want you to have a good rest, um… You carry on, I’ll go first.”

“Okay, goodbye.” Ruan Mian nodded and sent him to the entrance before turning back to the front of his dorm room and swiping the card to go in.

The room was spacious, clean, and bright. At a glance, everything in the room was in his favorite style. He couldn’t help but smile and lowered his head to change his slippers.

He opened the shoe cabinet, which contained a pair of wolf slippers and a pair of rabbit slippers. He took out the wolf slippers and put them on his feet.

He looked at the wolf slippers on his feet; a gentle smile flashed across his eyes, and after thinking for a while, he took out the rabbit slippers and put them by his feet to compare.

The rabbit slippers were a few inches bigger than the wolf slippers. It seemed that Lu Yang’s feet had grown a lot and were bigger than his feet.

Ruan Mian looked at it for a while, put the rabbit slippers back in the cabinet, walked to the window, opened it, and looked out. The scenery here was indeed as beautiful as Liu Minghu said, with green mountains, clear waters, and fresh air.

Ruan Mian quietly gazed for a while. These were the sights Lu Yang would see every time he looked out the window over the past few years.

Since arriving in Ancheng, he had felt an indescribable sense of peace. The place was filled with Lu Yang’s presence everywhere, even though he hadn’t yet returned. Traces of his presence were visible all around.

Ruan Mian smiled peacefully, retracted his gaze, turned around, opened the suitcase, and began to put his things away.

When he took the glass of water and placed it on the table, he found a box on the table. He couldn’t help but laugh. He knew what was in the box without thinking.

He walked over and opened the box. As expected, there were arctic wolves and lop-eared rabbits carved from carrots. The lop-eared rabbit was holding its rabbit ears and leaning on the shoulders of the arctic wolf. The arctic wolf was holding a sign in its arms with the words “Welcome Tutu” engraved on it.

Lu Yang’s skills are getting more advanced now. He can already carve lop-eared rabbits and arctic wolves vividly, which were very cute and funny.

Ruan Mian couldn’t help but smile, stretched out his hand, and poked the little head of the arctic wolf, “Come back soon.”

He rested in the dorm for a while. In the evening, he changed his clothes and arrived at the lobby downstairs of the military hospital dormitory on time. The lobby had been arranged like a dinner party. Except for the doctors and nurses on duty, the rest of the people basically came. Everyone gathered together, talking and laughing, and the atmosphere was relaxed.

Ruan Mian sat at the newcomers’ table, with Wang Dali and Shen Cheng by his side. The intern doctors and nurses got to know each other. Some had already known each other for a while, while others came from different schools and were meeting for the first time today, finally becoming familiar with one another.

In the interval between everyone’s conversations, Wang Dali turned his head to look at Ruan Mian and asked in a low voice: “Have you seen Lu Yang?”

Ruan Mian shook his head, “No, he went on a mission and will not be back until tomorrow.”

“How’s your place?”

Ruan Mian pursed his lips, smiled, and said sweetly, “It’s good.”

Lu Yang still understood him and remembered his preferences clearly. Basically, the things in his dorm room were what he liked.

“Are you still missing something? If you are missing something, just tell me; I will go to the supermarket next door to buy it for you, and you can bring it back when you go back later.”

Ruan Mian shook his head, “No need; Lu Yang bought everything for me, and I’ll tell him if I want anything.”

The more Wang Dali asked, the more frustrated he felt. This was Lu Yang’s territory. With Lu Yang around, there was no need for him to worry. Feeling depressed, he couldn’t help but tilt his head back and drink a glass of wine.

Ruan Mian saw him drinking to drown his sorrows and thought he was jealous. Although he shouldn’t comfort his love rival, Wang Dali was his friend after all. He thought for a moment and said, “Dali, you want to see Lu Yang too, right? Don’t worry, when he comes back tomorrow, you can see him often, even every day.”

Wang Dali: “…” He was even more upset.

He held up the cup, turned his grief and anger into drinking, and poured it into his mouth one mouthful after another.

Everyone sat down and ate a few bites of food. Doctor Zhao stood up with a cup in his hand, looked at everyone with a smile and said, “I welcome you on behalf of the Military District Hospital!”

Everyone applauded. Doctor Zhao smiled and continued, “I’m very happy that you chose the Military District Hospital. Many young people today are afraid of hardship and fatigue, but you all are not afraid of hard work. Coming from far away to serve the empire, you are all admirable!”

Shen Cheng was a little guilty holding the cup. He was different from others: he did not come here voluntarily, but now that he heard what Doctor Zhao said, he couldn’t help but feel a little proud. The two emotions of guilt and pride intertwined, and he suddenly felt that it seemed not bad to be assigned to here.

Ruan Mian looked at the wine and slightly frowned. He had never drunk alcohol before and didn’t know his capacity, feeling a bit unsure about how to start.

“Cheers to everyone!” Doctor Zhao raised his head and finished his drink, then extended his hand to everyone and said, “Those who can drink more, drink a bit more; those who can’t, drink a bit less. But today, we are all gathered here, so everyone should have a few sips at least, just as a gesture. Especially you young men, you can’t be outdone by the ladies.”

Since Doctor Zhao said so, Ruan Mian naturally had to drink. So many people were in high spirits, he couldn’t be the one who spoiled the fun.

He held the wine glass, lowered his head, and took a sip. The wine tasted spicy, and a few tears oozed out of the corners of his eyes.

He blinked and was about to put down the glass when he found that Doctor Zhao was looking at him with a smile. His hand couldn’t help but stop. He saw from the corner of his eye that the female nurse opposite drank a glass of wine in a few gulps, and he couldn’t help but feel guilty.

He gritted his teeth and lowered his head to drink a few more sips of wine. He put the glass down after drinking half.

Doctor Zhao smiled at him. After knowing the relationship between Ruan Mian and Lu Yang, he couldn’t help but be curious about the Major General’s future partner. He had met Lu Yang several times before. Lu Yang was always cold and looked unapproachable. Unexpectedly, Ruan Mian was the opposite of him, gentle and kind, and easy to get along with.

After Ruan Mian put down his glass, he quickly ate a few bites of food and tried to suppress the taste of alcohol in his mouth.

He felt a little hot in his body, and knowing that this was a normal reaction to alcohol, he didn’t care too much. After all, he had only drunk a few sips of wine, so he shouldn’t be drunk unless his alcohol tolerance was extremely poor.

The people in the room gradually became familiar with each other, and the atmosphere at the table became more and more lively. The colleagues in the hospital had a good relationship, and there was laughter and talking about interesting things about the hospital. Only Ruan Mian’s cheeks were getting redder and redder. He kept lowering his head and trying to eat the food, and his reaction became slower and slower.

Wang Dali, who was beside him, was in a similar state. Wang Dali had somehow gotten quite drunk already. His head tilted and he collapsed onto Shen Cheng’s shoulder, hugging Shen Cheng’s shoulder and shouting, “Drink! Let’s get drunk while we have wine today! Let’s toast to the heavens!”

Shen Cheng exaggeratedly said: “Such a big head!”

He patted Wang Dali’s cheek, “Dali, wake up!”

Wang Dali was drunk and struggled for a few times. He tilted his head again and fell back, saying the same thing, “Drink! If you don’t drink, you’re not a chicken! If you drink, you’re a chicken[mfn]originally censored as ** because chicken can also mean the little brother down there[/mfn]!”

Shen Cheng couldn’t help but curse: “You are a chicken!”

“I am a chicken!” Wang Dali said confidently.

Shen Cheng: “…” Sure enough, he was drunk.

He stood up helplessly, supported Wang Dali, and said to Ruan Mian: “Xiao Mian, he is very drunk. I will take him upstairs first.”

Ruan Mian nodded without raising his head, holding chopsticks in his hand, counting the peanuts in front of him blankly. His movements seemed a little slow, and he muttered, “Eighteen, nineteen, twenty…”

Shen Cheng felt that Ruan Mian’s state seemed a little wrong, but Wang Dali was clearly drunk, and he had no time to care about Ruan Mian, so he didn’t think much and helped Wang Dali go upstairs first.

Ruan Mian’s head was like a chicken pecking at rice; bit by bit, his head became more and more dizzy, and his thoughts gradually became dull.

He counted the peanuts on the plate for a while, and some of the peanuts were taken away by others, and the numbers were messed up again. He puffed his mouth in grievance and slowly put down the chopsticks in his hand.

He supported his head with one hand and closed his eyes for a while. When no one was paying attention, he became a lop-eared rabbit with a bang.

Ruan Mian blinked his rabbit eyes; his eyes were moist. The more he blinked, the less he could see. He felt that everything in the room was shaking, which made him dizzy. He tried to open his eyes for a while but finally couldn’t hold on. He suddenly fell on the chair, spread his limbs, and fell asleep in a daze.

When Shen Cheng came back, he looked left and right but didn’t see Ruan Mian. He only saw a cute lop-eared rabbit on his chair.

Shen Cheng didn’t know that Ruan Mian was a pure-blooded Omega, nor did he know that Ruan Mian’s animal form was a lop-eared rabbit. He looked around the room and didn’t see Ruan Mian, so he thought Ruan Mian had left.

He picked up the lop-eared rabbit, held it in his arms, and gently petted it a few times. He has always liked small animals, and for some reason, he felt a particular fondness for this lop-eared rabbit.

The lop-eared rabbit didn’t seem to like his touch. It struggled in his hand for a few times. Although it didn’t have much strength, it kept trying to break free from his hand and even opened its mouth to bite him.

Ruan Mian knew that he was drunk and that he had accidentally changed back to his animal form. He was a little scared, but he was now weak all over. His eyes seemed to be glued shut, and he couldn’t open them. He felt someone holding him up. He was a little panicked and struggled hard to escape. However, the little rabbit’s self-defense ability, in addition to running fast, was its teeth.

Shen Cheng saw that the little rabbit was about to bite him, so he pulled his hand away in time to avoid the rabbit’s teeth. He couldn’t help but smile softly, thinking that the little rabbit was quite alert.

He saw that the lop-eared rabbit didn’t like it, so he didn’t pet it again but just held it in his arms and waited for its owner to find it.

A sudden commotion arose in the room. He looked up to see a tall man walk in, dressed in a neatly pressed military uniform. The man appeared to be of high rank, and his face was handsome, combining beauty with a sense of heroism.

Shen Cheng stared at the man for a few seconds before coming back to his senses. He hadn’t expected to see such a handsome man in Ancheng, nor had he thought it possible for someone to blend two different qualities so seamlessly, creating a perfect and unique combination. This man was a beautiful yet powerful Alpha, someone who was intimidating to approach and unmistakably an Alpha at a glance.

The Alpha’s cold eyes swept around the room, and finally his eyes fell on the lop-eared rabbit in his hand.

It’s unknown if it was Shen Cheng’s illusion; he actually felt that Alpha’s eyes softened when he saw the lop-eared rabbit. Before he could react, he saw Alpha raise his head and glare at him with dissatisfaction.

Shen Cheng: “…” Why does it suddenly feel cold, I am also an Alpha! Why am I afraid of him…

The Alpha walked straight over with a gloomy face. He had a strong aura. The closer he got; the more people held their breath unconsciously.

Shen Cheng hugged the lop-eared rabbit tightly in his arms, stepped back subconsciously, and asked in a trembling voice: “Hey! What do you want to do?”

The Alpha glanced at him, snatched the lop-eared rabbit directly, held it in his arms, and said in a low voice: “Take my rabbit home.”

“How can you prove that this is your rabbit?” Shen Cheng asked vigilantly.

He was worried that the lop-eared rabbit had met a bad guy. Although this Alpha was very handsome, he knew the face but not the heart. He must ensure the safety of the lop-eared rabbit and could not give it to others casually.

The lop-eared rabbit seemed to be aware of the change in the surrounding environment, closed his eyes, and opened his mouth to bite the person holding him.

Shen Cheng hurriedly said: “Look! It doesn’t know you and even wants to open its mouth to bite, ai…”

Before he could finish his sentence, he saw the lop-eared rabbit’s nose twitch lightly, as if it smelled a familiar scent. Instead of biting, its little teeth gently rubbed against the Alpha’s fingers, acting like a spoiled child.

Shen Cheng: “…”

The Alpha gently rubbed the rabbit’s ears. Although the lop-eared rabbit looked clumsy, it got into Alpha’s jacket pocket as if it were familiar with the place. It curled up into a small ball, revealing only a small head and two ears. Its cheek was pressed against Alpha’s chest, and it fell asleep peacefully.

Shen Cheng’s mouth twitched slightly, and he smiled awkwardly: “Your rabbit is very well-behaved, hehe…”

The Alpha gently touched the lop-eared rabbit in his pocket, raised his eyes to look at Shen Cheng, and said lightly: “Thank you for taking care of him just now.”

Shen Cheng waved his hand quickly, “No problem, no problem.”

Alpha nodded slightly, turned around without saying a word, and left with the lop-eared rabbit.

Shen Cheng looked at Alpha’s back and touched his chest with lingering fear. Fortunately, he didn’t take the lop-eared rabbit away just now; otherwise, he had a hunch that Alpha would definitely get angry.
