ABLO Chapter 44

Ruan Mian closed the door, turned back to look at Lu Yang, reached out and gently poked his chest, and snorted: “Hmph, Brother Yang.”

He didn’t know why, but he didn’t quite like the way Li Zhan addressed Lu Yang just now. In the military, everyone called Lu Yang ‘Major General’ or ‘Boss.’ Only Li Zhan addressed him this way, which seemed particularly close, giving the impression that he was unique to Lu Yang.

Ruan Mian didn’t like this feeling very much; it was as if he were being isolated from Lu Yang’s world. Thinking that it was Li Zhan who had accompanied Lu Yang in recent years instead of him, he couldn’t help but feel a bit sad.

He always felt that he should be angry, but he had never lost his temper with Lu Yang and didn’t know how to be angry, so he just puffed up his cheeks in frustration.

Lu Yang smiled, stretched out his hand, and pulled him to sit down at the table. He raised his eyebrows slightly and said: “You called me Brother Yang when you were a child; have you forgotten?”

Although Ruan Mian is the same age as Lu Yang, he is a few months younger. When they first met in kindergarten, Ruan Mian worried that the little bully might be chased by a dog again, so he always followed behind him, calling ‘Brother Yang’ in his cute, childish voice. As he became more familiar with Lu Yang, often visiting his home, he joined everyone else in calling him ‘Baby Lu.’

Lu Yang’s heart moved, and he suddenly leaned closer, looked into Ruan Mian’s eyes, and said: “Mian Mian, I suddenly want to hear you call me Brother Yang again; say it.”

Ruan Mian blinked, turned around, picked up the bun, took a bite, and refused in a buzzing voice, “I don’t want to say it; you are called Brother Yang every day; haven’t you heard enough?”

Lu Yang reached out and gently pinched his soft ears, affectionately saying, “How others say it isn’t as pleasant as my Tutu’s words. My Tutu is beautiful and has a sweet voice. When you call me ‘Brother Yang,’ it sounds especially nice.”

Ruan Mian’s tail was about to stand up because of the praise. He turned his head and asked with sparkling eyes: “Really??”

“Of course, when have I ever lied to you?”

Ruan Mian was not tolerant of praise. As soon as Lu Yang praised him, he forgot everything that happened just now. He couldn’t help but smile and call softly, “Brother Yang!”

Lu Yang felt comfortable all over and responded with satisfaction. He remembered how little Ruan Mian followed him and protected him. He couldn’t help but smile. Like when he was a child, he put a few candies in Ruan Mian’s pocket and reminded him, “You can eat them after breakfast.”

Ruan Mian nodded vigorously and patted his pocket contentedly, as if there was some precious treasure inside that could make him happy.

Lu Yang picked up the chopsticks and took a few bites of breakfast, then asked, “Do you need to report to the hospital today?”

“No, Doctor Zhao said yesterday that we should get familiar with the surrounding environment today and then report to the hospital tomorrow to officially start work.”

Lu Yang thought for a while, “Then you can go to the army with me later. I just have some military affairs to deal with. After that, I’ll take you for a ride and bring you to eat at all the snack bars I often go to over the years. How about it?”

He thought of Li Zhan showing off to Ruan Mian just now, and he was actually a little unhappy. Every time he thought of the past few years without Ruan Mian in his life, he felt full of regrets, so he wanted to work hard to make up for what he missed in the past few years.

When Ruan Mian heard Lu Yang’s words, his eyes lit up instantly, and he nodded like a chicken pecking at rice. He had long wanted to go to the army to see where Lu Yang trained. It would be even better if Lu Yang had time to take him to the places he liked.

He happily ate an extra bun, and after finishing it, he suddenly frowned in confusion, reached out and touched his stomach, and said, “I’m afraid I can’t eat so much.”

Lu Yang had mentioned to him on the phone before what delicious food there was in Ancheng. As far as he knew, there were at least a dozen snack bars that Lu Yang often went to. He only had one stomach, so how could he finish it all?

“Take it slow; we can visit one place each day. We have plenty of time in the future anyway.”

“Yeah!” Ruan Mian was instantly full of motivation. Lu Yang was right. Anyway, he would stay here for a long time, and it would be enough to eat slowly, as long as Lu Yang had time to accompany him.

After having a meal, the two of them tidied up briefly and then went to the military camp together. Their place was very close to the camp, so they didn’t drive; they walked there.

Ruan Mian was off duty today, so he was dressed casually. He wore a pure white sweater and light blue jeans. He was fair and tender and looked young. After wearing the hooded sweater, he looked even younger.

Lu Yang, dressed in his military uniform, walked beside him with his hands in his pockets, still sporting that incredibly cool demeanor. He just needed a pair of sunglasses to complete the look.

The two of them walked slowly, enjoying the scenery along the way, just like when Lu Yang sent Ruan Mian home every time before, but compared to that time, Lu Yang was now half a head taller than Ruan Mian.

Ruan Mian looked up at Lu Yang and secretly reached out to compare their heights. After comparing, he couldn’t help but lower his head in depression, take out a candy from his pocket, and put it in his mouth.

We grew up together; how could there be such a big difference!

Lu Yang saw his little action and heard the sound of the candy wrapper being unwrapped next to him and couldn’t help but laugh.

Ruan Mian heard his laughter and grumbled discontentedly, “Hmph, we agreed to be each other’s angels, but you secretly grew taller on your own!”

When he spoke, there was a sweet, sugary flavor in his voice, with a bit of a soft, childish tone.

Lu Yang smiled. He had always liked feeding Ruan Mian sweets. Whenever Ruan Mian had eaten sweets, his voice would always carry a sweet flavor, and his tone would be soft, making him seem as if he were soaked in honey.

“Tutu, if I remember correctly, except for when we were the same height in kindergarten, I’ve always been taller than you.”

Ruan Mian didn’t say anything and stuffed another piece of candy into his mouth angrily.

The soldiers passing by were surprised to see their Major General walking with a good-looking Omega. They waved to each other, hid behind the trees, and looked over secretly.

They had heard rumors that the Major General’s fiancé was going to come to the Military Hospital for an internship. Now seeing this Omega, they couldn’t help but guess that he was the Major General’s fiancé.

A moment later, their suspicions were confirmed because their Major General smiled. Not only did he smile, but he smiled very brightly! It was completely different from how he usually looked when facing them.

Everyone looked at each other, and all fell into silent silence. Is this really their cold, domineering, and ruthless Major General!?

Their eyes widened even more, trying to make sure they weren’t seeing things. In the next moment, the scene before them almost blinded them.

They watched the Major General, who was usually high and mighty, suddenly stop, squat in front of the Omega, and naturally stretch out his hand to tie the shoelaces for the Omega himself.

They looked again and again and dared to make sure that they were not wrong. When the Major General faced them, if someone’s shoes were not tied properly, he would directly scold them. Now facing the Omega, not only did he not scold him, but he personally helped him tie his shoelaces.

… They thought sadly, they are all human beings; why is the difference in treatment so great?

They suddenly felt their eyes hurt and dared not look any further, so they ran away in a flash.

Lu Yang tied Ruan Mian’s shoelaces and took him to the office upstairs. He told the secretary to call everyone for a meeting and took Ruan Mian to the office.

The secretary didn’t know Ruan Mian’s identity and thought that a guest had come. He enthusiastically opened the door of the office, led Ruan Mian in, walked to the sofa where guests usually sat, stretched out his hand to Ruan Mian, made a gesture of invitation, and said with a smile: “Please sit down.”

As soon as the secretary finished speaking, he saw the Major General lead Ruan Mian to his office chair, press him to the seat, and say softly: “Sit here; the cushion of this chair is soft, and it can be put down as a recliner. If you are tired, lie here for a while. The button is here.”

The secretary was shocked for a moment and raised his head again. He smiled and said to Ruan Mian: “Sir, I’ll get you a cup. What would you like to drink? Coffee or tea?”

“No need.” Lu Yang walked to the refrigerator in the office and took out a box of washed fresh strawberries and a bottle of fresh milk. He put the strawberries in front of Ruan Mian, took his glass, poured the fresh milk into it, and handed it to Ruan Mian, “Disposable paper cups are inconvenient to use. You can use my glass first. I’ll ask my secretary to buy you a glass and put it here.”

Secretary: “…” Didn’t you say not to let others touch your things!?

This is your office. Why will this gentleman’s glass be here? Does it mean he will be coming often?

The secretary was deeply shocked inside but tried to maintain a smile, doing his best to appear calm.

Lu Yang turned on the computer, lowered his head, and said to Ruan Mian: “If you are bored, play on the computer for a while. There are a few mini games you like.”

Secretary: “…” Who said before that if anyone dared to touch his computer, he would be sent directly to the interrogation room to see if they were a traitor?

Can I send this gentleman over now?

Lu Yang looked up at the stunned secretary and slightly frowned, “Why are you still here?”

The secretary felt deeply disliked. Well, it seemed that if he were to send this gentleman to the interrogation room, the Major General would probably send him in directly.

Unable to contain his curiosity any longer, the secretary cautiously asked, “Major General, may I know if this gentleman is… your brother? Friend? Or lover?”

Lu Yang glanced at him unhappily and put his hand on Ruan Mian’s shoulder, “What do you think?”

The secretary understood and was shocked. Although he was very curious and wanted to ask a few more questions, his professional ethics made him very sensible and he didn’t ask any more questions.

He lowered his head and said knowingly: “This gentleman is so outstanding; he must be the Major General’s lover.”

After he finished speaking, he raised his eyes slightly and looked over, accurately catching Ruan Mian’s ears, which were slightly red, and the snow-white earlobes were rosy, looking extremely cute.

Lu Yang was somewhat satisfied, “Go inform the others to come for a meeting. I’ll call you when needed.”

“Yes…” The secretary saluted, smiled at Ruan Mian, turned around, and walked out.

Before leaving, he gave Ruan Mian a deep look. Ruan Mian sat in Lu Yang’s chair, which was quite large and made him look a bit small. His fair cheeks looked somewhat delicate, making him appear especially endearing in the imposing military office.

The secretary silently gave Ruan Mian a thumbs up in his heart. He was able to deal with the Major General. You are a strong man!
