BMHS Chapter 071.1

Yan Sui did not leave again, staying by Meng Ting’s bedside the entire time. Meng Ting had fallen asleep, but the anti-inflammatory IV drip had to continue. He frowned in discomfort, and Yan Sui’s expression also darkened a bit. He gently patted and comforted him, and after a long time, Meng Ting’s discomfort eased a little.

But even in his sleep, Meng Ting still felt uneasy. He still hadn’t been able to break free from the shadows of his past—his fear of injections, IV drips, and taking medicine.

However, this day did not remain peaceful just because Yan Sui stayed indoors.

He Wan had received a court summons from the Yan family a week ago, demanding a massive compensation. She had been holed up in her usual villa during this time, making no moves. But on this day, she was informed that her bank accounts had been frozen, and all the assets and properties under her name would be auctioned off to repay the debts.

She was only allowed to take a few sets of clothes with her; nothing else from her current residence could be taken. At the same time, not only did she owe the Yan family money, but she also owed her nanny, driver, and bodyguards their wages for the month.

The driver and bodyguard directly drove away with her car, the nanny took away a few sets of her clothes, and He Wan was thus driven out of the villa.

Li Yifei had been to the police station several times, and on her third visit, she was no longer allowed bail. On this day, she appeared in court, only to be charged with murder. Originally, she could have been released in one or two years, but she faced at least a decade or more years in prison.

Li Yifei was not the one who directly hired the assassin, but she had leaked Meng Ting’s information.

The people who wanted to kill Meng Ting this time were some high-ranking officials behind Meng Ting’s high school. The school had been shut down, cutting off the financial routes of many, and some even faced imprisonment. They didn’t dare to retaliate against the Yan family, so they directed their hatred toward Meng Ting.

However, the details about Meng Ting’s appearance and other information were leaked through Li Yifei. She thought she could continue to act without being noticed, she thought she could perfectly extricate herself. But once something is done, traces are always left behind.

Her world had always been too small, spending half her life competing with the main house of the Meng family. How could she have known the power behind a family like the Yan family? They hadn’t acted, so Yan Sui naturally couldn’t investigate easily. But once they did act, peeling back the layers would always reveal traces and evidence.

Yet, Yan Sui still felt that this incident was a major failure on his part. He had focused all his attention on He Wan and hadn’t anticipated that Li Yifei would harbor such murderous intent toward Meng Ting, even trying to kill him before going to prison.

What kind of deep-seated grudge Meng Ting and Li Yifei had, Yan Sui couldn’t figure out. But he didn’t need to think too much about it—Li Yifei would never get out of prison in this lifetime, and neither would those who directly hired the assassins.

“It’s over…”

This lament did not come from Li Yifei but from the second house of the Meng family who attended the hearing. Li Yifei had completely ruined their second house because of Meng Ting. How could a second house that had incurred the wrath of the Yan family’s patriarch continue to lead the Meng family? This was a question Old Master Meng had to consider.

He liked Li Yifei, even to the point of obsession. But besides being a man who loved women, he was also a fairly competent patriarch of the Meng family for decades. Family responsibilities must take precedence over his personal affections.

After returning from the court, Old Master Meng locked himself in his room for half a day. Eventually, he called Meng Qi back to the old residence. Shortly after, Meng Qi left the old residence, and the news began to spread.

Old Master Meng decided to officially retire. The position of the patriarch of the Meng family would not be inherited by any of his three sons but by his eldest grandson, Meng Qi.

Meng Qi was directly promoted from a department manager to the acting president of the headquarters. Although the title still carried the word ‘acting’, Meng Qi was confident that he would be able to remove it within a year or two. However, after leaving the Meng family, he didn’t immediately head to the company.

He drove himself to the Yan Residence. He had already heard about Meng Ting’s injury, and even the surveillance footage from the elevator had been leaked online. Meng Ting’s act of protecting the unborn child of the assassin had sparked significant discussion.

Perhaps he wasn’t the smartest, and his environment had never been favorable since childhood. He had endured too much malice, yet his heart remained so pure that it made many people feel ashamed. The ugliness of the assassin and those behind them only highlighted the goodness of Meng Ting’s nature.

By the time Meng Qi arrived, it was already past four in the afternoon. At this time, Meng Ting had regained consciousness again, and Yan Sui was still accompanying him by his side. Yan Manjia and others had also come to see him. Compared to Meng Ting, it was Yan Sui who seemed more concerning.

He hadn’t slept a wink since yesterday and still didn’t look like he wanted to rest. But the human body has its limits, and they were worried that before Meng Ting fully recovered, Yan Sui might fall ill again.

Meng Ting seemed to have sensed this as well. As soon as he regained a bit of strength, he started acting sweetly towards Yan Sui.

Yan Sui accepted all of Meng Ting’s sweet gestures, but his behavior still wasn’t exactly obedient.

“Come here, lie down, or I’m going to get angry.”

Meng Ting said, his cheeks slightly puffed up as he glared at Yan Sui. But within three seconds, he blinked, and the momentum he had built up vanished. Of course, he didn’t notice this himself and continued to emphasize.

“I’m really going to get angry.”

Yan Sui looked at Meng Ting, the corner of his mouth curling up in what could be considered a smile.

Meng Ting continued to stare at Yan Sui intently, reaching out to touch Yan Sui’s lips, then frowned slightly. “Your smile looks a bit off today. It must be because you haven’t slept.”

“And…” he continued, his thoughts turning slowly, and he spoke very slowly. He wasn’t even sure if what he was saying was correct, but as long as it could get Yan Sui to sleep, he didn’t care. “I heard that not sleeping makes you age faster.”

“Although I don’t mind that you’re getting old, don’t age too quickly…”

Meng Ting’s words hit the nerve that Yan Sui was particularly sensitive about, and the muscles on his face instantly tensed up.

“I’m aging too quickly?” Yan Sui asked, almost grinding his teeth.

Meng Ting quickly shook his head. “Not yet, but if you don’t sleep, you will. Really.”

Yan Sui suddenly stood up, and Meng Ting’s eyes widened in surprise. Was Yan Sui going to leave because he found him annoying?

“You… you’re not being good. I’m not going to talk to you anymore…” Meng Ting turned his head away, truly deciding to get angry.

But Yan Sui soon reappeared in his line of sight. He walked to the other side of the bed, took off his coat, and lay down.

The frustration on Meng Ting’s face instantly disappeared. He looked at Yan Sui, his eyes curving into a smile, and he reached out to touch Yan Sui’s hair, saying with certainty, “You’re being good… you’re the best behaved.”

Meng Ting was treating Yan Sui like a child, or perhaps not exactly, but he was indeed determined to coax Yan Sui to sleep. However, his skills in comforting others were almost nonexistent, though his intentions were sincere. His vocabulary was too simple, which gave off this impression.

Yan Sui lay down, mainly to ease Meng Ting’s worries, as he wasn’t really sleepy.

Meng Ting slowly slid down as well. Since he was injured on his side, he avoided making any large movements, which wasn’t a big issue. He lay down properly, then turned his head to look at Yan Sui. Their eyes met, and both of their hearts softened.

Meng Ting pursed his lips, his gaze falling on Yan Sui’s lips. He didn’t speak but gradually moved closer to Yan Sui.

Yan Sui couldn’t bear to see him struggle like this, so he turned to his side, caressed Meng Ting’s cheek, and then their lips met.

Meng Ting’s tongue lightly licked Yan Sui’s lips, and Yan Sui took the opportunity to deepen the kiss. Their tongues collided, brushing against the soft inner walls. His hand moved from Meng Ting’s cheek to his ear, then to his hair.

Meng Ting’s eyes gradually narrowed, thoroughly enjoying Yan Sui’s gentle kiss.

Their kiss was tender and lingering, and Meng Ting was fully focused, doing his utmost to prolong the kiss. After what felt like an eternity, Yan Sui finally pulled away from Meng Ting’s lips. Their foreheads pressed together, their breaths slightly ragged, but their hearts had calmed down a bit.

Meng Ting rubbed his nose against Yan Sui’s, his eyes slowly opening to take in Yan Sui’s familiar face. He whispered, “Sleep, I’ll stay with you. I won’t leave.”

As he spoke, he raised his hand to cover Yan Sui’s eyes, then couldn’t resist pecking his lips again.

Yan Sui didn’t pull Meng Ting’s hand away, nor did he try to open his eyes. Meng Ting’s gentle caresses and soft pecks continued endlessly, and Yan Sui was completely immersed in this warmth, unable to extricate himself. The sleepiness that had been absent suddenly surged, completely blurring his consciousness.

When Meng Qi entered, Meng Ting had already sat up again, but he was still looking at Yan Sui, his hand gently stroking Yan Sui’s hair. It was clear at a glance that he was coaxing the person to sleep.

Noticing the movement, Meng Ting immediately raised a finger to his lips, then shot a warning glare at Meng Qi.

Meng Qi quickly raised both hands, signaling that he understood.

He stood not far from the bed, looking at Meng Ting and then at Yan Sui, who was already asleep beside him. He could roughly guess how chaotic the Yan family had been from yesterday until now. But since Meng Ting was now able to coax someone and even glare at him, he must be fine.

Meng Qi let out a sigh of relief. To be honest, when he first received the news, he was quite startled. If it weren’t for Old Master Meng personally making the call and Uncle Wen urging him several times to return to the old residence, he would have definitely come here first to see Meng Ting.

He nodded at Meng Ting, then quietly left the room. Gu Lang, Yan Mingya, and others who had also come to check on them were all stopped by him.

“Don’t go in. Meng Ting just coaxed Yan Sui to sleep. I went in and got glared at.”

Meng Qi said, touching his nose. He seemed to have already gotten used to Meng Ling’s habit of glaring at him and the fact that he didn’t particularly like him.

Gu Lang and the others fell silent for a moment. Although they found it somewhat amusing to be glared at by their ‘little sister-in-law’, since Yan Sui was asleep, it was truly not the time to disturb them.

They chatted with Zhen Han, who had just woken up, in the living room downstairs, left some gifts, and then departed from the Yan residence.
