“Wen Qianshu, Wen Qianshu.”
Wen Qianshu was lying on the bed in a daze. After a while, she finally answered, “What is it?”
2333: “The next world is a Xianxia world. You need to master some skills, so you have to make use of this rest period.”
Wen Qianshu: “Okay.”
Then she continued to lie on the bed in a daze.
2333: “…”
There it was!
The Wen Qianshu who agrees to everything but does nothing.
Every World Line Repairer has their own rest chamber. Wen Qianshu was currently staying inside hers. She hadn’t adjusted the layout or color of the rest chamber, so the room only had a bed and four blank white walls, which gave 2333 the creeps.
Wen Qianshu finally sat up. “What skills do I need to master?”
2333: “Archery.”
2333: “In the next world, the female protagonist is named Yan Han. She’s a half-demon. On the orders of the snake clan from the demon realm, she infiltrates the immortal sect, Five Spirits Mountain, intending to permeate the immortal families. However, she is discovered by the second female lead, her plot is exposed, her beloved dies, and she kills herself by slitting her throat.”
Wen Qianshu: “Ah—what about me? What’s my identity?”
2333: “Five Spirits Mountain reveres the power of the five elements and is divided into five schools. Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth correspond to Mingfeng Terrace, Fuliu Boat, Canglan Courtyard, Yanyun Sky, and Qiankun Earth, respectively. You are the Senior Sister of Canglan Courtyard, Yan Chengshuang.”
Wen Qianshu smiled. “Senior Sister? Sounds like a role that’s destined for trouble, huh?”
2333: “No, this Senior Sister passed away before the female protagonist joined the sect. So we’re inserting you at the moment of her death to take her place.”
“Passed away?” Wen Qianshu opened her optical computer and scrolled through the data sent by the system. “Who killed her?”
2333: “No one killed her. She died from qi deviation while cultivating.”
Wen Qianshu: “I see—”
2333: “But because this person existed before, you have to follow her behavior and way of doing things at first, then gradually change. I have a short written description here, want to study it?”
Wen Qianshu: “Okay.”
“Is there anything to drink?”
It was rare for 2333 to see her willing to study the plot, so it quickly said, “Yes, yes, yes, what do you want? Tea, coffee, or red wine?”
Wen Qianshu tapped her smart glasses, projecting an operation interface into the air. “Milk tea.”
2333: “Iced?”
Wen Qianshu’s hand paused for a moment. She said, “Room temperature, with pudding.”
A cup of pudding milk tea was quickly prepared and brought in by a small robot.
Wen Qianshu took the milk tea. While chewing on the straw and drinking, she looked at Yan Chengshuang’s file and suddenly asked, “You guys can provide information about a world before entering it?”
2333: “Of course. Wasn’t it because you rushed off so quickly last time that the data didn’t have time to be sent to you?”
Wen Qianshu narrowed her eyes and suddenly said, “Oh? Then last time, you didn’t remind me to imitate the personality of ‘Wen Qianshu’ either, did you?”
A thousand people have a thousand faces; who could be exactly the same? Besides, she had never specifically tried to imitate the original ‘Wen Qianshu’ from beginning to end.
Under these circumstances, besides that one question from Wen Junjie, who else had mentioned that the previous Wen Qianshu was different from the later one?
Shen Ting and Wen Qianshu grew up together, and Shen Ting was very perceptive. Did she not notice either?
Wen Qianshu smiled and asked, “You said Yan Chengshuang existed before, so I have to imitate her personality. What about that Wen Qianshu—”
“Did she not exist before?”
2333: “How is that possible? Of course, it’s because the previous world was simple, so you didn’t need to disguise yourself too much. In the upcoming worlds, you will need to disguise your personality.”
Wen Qianshu lowered her eyes, still smiling. For a moment, 2333 couldn’t tell if she believed it or not. But Wen Qianshu didn’t dwell on this point. She just looked at the description for the second female lead and asked again, “By the way, since you want to save the female protagonist, why not just cast me as the second female lead? That way, I could pretend not to discover anything, let Yan Han wipe out Five Spirits Mountain in one go, and the mission would be complete, right?”
2333 was speechless. 2333 suddenly missed the Wen Qianshu who didn’t ask any questions.
For a moment, it felt there was a reason Wen Qianshu was bad at language arts; her focus was always on strange things. “Aiya, don’t think so much about it. First, think about how to complete this mission.”
Wen Qianshu glanced at the plot again and said, “Don’t be like that. I’m just curious about your operating principles and the restrictions placed on Repairers.”
2333: “…”
2333 tried to distract her. “Right, given that Xianxia worlds have always been relatively difficult to repair, Repairers can receive a reward upon successful completion—they can take a cultivation technique from it to use in other worlds. Of course, the technique can’t be too powerful. I’ll help you evaluate it.”
Wen Qianshu: “Fine.”
Yan Chengshuang was of the water element—the head disciple of the Canglan Courtyard’s master, and she wielded a spiritual weapon.
“Endless Moon.”
Wen Qianshu was slightly stunned, but she quickly followed 2333’s instructions and opened the simulation system. A full moon appeared before her eyes, condensed from water droplets, dripping and pattering. But the falling droplets quickly flew back up, re-condensing into the moon, then falling and re-condensing again, endlessly.
Wen Qianshu raised her hand and lowered her fingers. The full moon moved with her, stretching into a crescent moon, then spreading out and lengthening into a bow. Following the instructions, she swept her other hand through the stream of water and pulled out a water arrow.
Wen Qianshu: “Interesting.”
In the following days, she was busy studying this spiritual weapon. Endless Moon was formed from converging streams of water and could take on countless forms. But Yan Chengshuang had always used it as a bow and arrow, so Wen Qianshu also practiced archery first.
After several tens of days of rest had passed, 2333 registered for her, and then they prepared to enter the next world. Wen Qianshu closed her eyes and put on the helmet.
“Loading successful. Congratulations to Repairer PF12001 for entering world (2/10). Upon completion of all tasks, the mission world line can be changed. We wish you a successful mission.”
Wen Qianshu: “Thank you.”
She opened her eyes. Before her were no longer the silver-white, cold walls of the Main God’s space, but a rather empty room. Wen Qianshu stood up, and a shimmering weapon surrounded by water droplets circled beside her—Endless Moon.
The spiritual weapon was much more beautiful than its simulated form, like a moon from the ninth heaven that had mistakenly wandered into the mortal world.
2333: “At this time, Yan Chengshuang is in seclusion. You can take this opportunity to familiarize yourself with the cultivation techniques.”
Wen Qianshu got up, pushed aside Endless Moon, and saw a bookshelf filled with books. She reached in and took one out—Guishui Art.
Wen Qianshu opened the book and said in pleasant surprise, “Right, this is a Xianxia world, so I can fly?”
2333: “Yes. And you have spiritual energy in your body. You should be able to do it once you learn the incantation.”
A cold light covered Wen Qianshu’s irises; it was her smart glasses automatically translating, matching this world’s language with her original one. Wen Qianshu paced back and forth, mobilizing the spiritual energy in her body according to the book’s instructions. After a moment, she said, “I think I’ve got it. Let me give it a try.”
With that, she put down the book, closed her eyes, and silently recited the incantation. Her long hair fluttered, and her robes moved without any wind. At first glance, she truly had the air of an immortal.
2333: “You learn quite fast—”
The sound of “fast” had barely faded when Wen Qianshu shot upwards in a flash of light, and with a “thud,” she slammed heavily into the ceiling.
2333: “…”
Wen Qianshu grabbed onto the roof beam with both hands to prevent herself from suddenly flying up and then suddenly falling down. “Why is this body so light?”
2333: “Can’t you just take it slow!”
Wen Qianshu: “I’ll try again.”
With a “bang,” she flew out diagonally again, knocking over the desk and scattering ink brushes all over the floor. Fortunately, she managed to stretch out her hands in time to brace herself against the window frame, preventing her from crashing through it.
2333 felt the pain just by watching.
After wobbling about, Wen Qianshu finally learned how to fly in circles inside the room. Then she thought about going outside to try.
2333: “Ahead!”
“There’s a tree ahead!”
Wen Qianshu: “Aiya, I see it—”
She did a graceful spin, dodging the tree branches, but failed to stop in time and crashed into a mountain rock.
2333 covered its face.
It made sense. For someone like Wen Qianshu who would trip just walking up steps, expecting her to fly steadily in a short time was simply impossible.
2333 just watched her practice, watching her practice tirelessly every day.
Watched her crash into mountains after crashing into trees, and fall into waterfalls after crashing into rocks.
2333 even had to turn on its radar system to watch out for people for her. Whenever someone approached, it would tell her to hide. After repeating this process, Wen Qianshu finally managed to fly with some semblance of skill.
Five Spirits Mountain was called a mountain, but it was actually a spiritual realm, divided according to the five elements, which both generated and overcame one another. Qiankun Earth was earth, situated at the very bottom; the mountain ranges were connected end to end, with metal rising in the center, suspended high up to form Mingfeng Terrace; water was born outside the terrace, with waterfalls thundering on all four sides, landing to form a sea, within which Canglan Courtyard was hidden; water then gave birth to wood, from which nine giant vines soared, known as Fuliu Boat; Fuliu Boat reached up to the firmament, ending deep within the red clouds, which was Yanyun Sky.
The sky was high, the earth was vast, and the sea was boundless.
Wen Qianshu flew down along the current, then up along the vines. Just as she was about to reach the fiery clouds of Yanyun Sky, she did a somersault and plunged downwards, diving straight into the sea. Endless Moon dispersed, parting the water for her and enveloping her.
Wen Qianshu: “This is so much fun!”
2333 was already tired of watching. “Don’t you get tired of it?”
It could only be thankful that Wen Qianshu had gone skydiving and scuba diving in the last world, so she clearly had no fear of heights or water. Otherwise, all this up-and-down turmoil would have given her a heart attack even if she didn’t have one.
Wen Qianshu smiled, kicked her feet, and dived deep down until she saw the entrance plaque of Canglan Courtyard, then she stepped on the water and landed. After passing through the main gate, the water droplets on her body dissipated, and Endless Moon condensed back into a full moon, following behind her.
It was late at night, and only the disciples on night watch were in Canglan Courtyard. Seeing her, they all bowed respectfully. “Senior Sister.”
“Senior Sister.”
“Senior Sister is out of seclusion?”
Wen Qianshu nodded and walked past with a flick of her sleeve.
Yan Chengshuang was a cold and taciturn person. 2333 had initially worried that Wen Qianshu wouldn’t be able to act the part, but unexpectedly, when asked to pretend, she could actually pull it off quite convincingly. Wen Qianshu walked along the corridor. Just as she was about to reach her room, she suddenly heard a voice: “Shuang’er.”
Wen Qianshu: “…”
2333: “…”
2333: “Serves you right for running around in the middle of the night!”
Wen Qianshu: “What else was I supposed to do? I can’t just run around wildly during the day, can I?”
Wen Qianshu turned and bowed. “Master.”
The Head of Canglan Courtyard was named Yan Chengquan. Her phoenix eyes were imposing without being angry, her vermilion lips were red without makeup, her silver hair was coiled up, and her long sleeves draped to the ground. She smiled faintly. “You’ve come out of seclusion?”
Wen Qianshu: “Yes.”
Yan Chengquan nodded. “You’re much earlier than expected. Did you encounter a problem you couldn’t figure out on your own?”
Wen Qianshu: “While in seclusion, your disciple suddenly felt restless and found it difficult to enter a meditative state. Therefore, I came out early. I wish to leave the mountain to see the world, to experience mortal life and temper my state of mind.”
2333: “?”
What was all that about?
“Oh? Temper your state of mind? That’s true. You grew up on Five Spirits Mountain, after all. It’s about time you went out to see the world.” Yan Chengquan lowered her eyes and pondered for a moment, then pulled a bamboo slip from her sleeve. “Your Martial Uncle received orders and left the mountain a few days ago. He is currently in the mortal realm searching for disciples. If you wish to go out and gain experience, you might as well go find him. It would also prevent your cold Martial Uncle from recruiting good disciples who don’t come to Canglan Courtyard, letting the other four schools benefit for nothing.”
Wen Qianshu agreed and accepted the bamboo slip with both hands. “Yes.”
