Wealthy Woof Chapter 72

Hello, 110...

Looking at the pile of red envelopes in front of him, Lu Chenghe casually picked one up and weighed it. It contained about ten thousand yuan. Glancing at the others, most were large envelopes, bulging and full. There were also smaller, more normal-sized envelopes, but they were still stuffed, seemingly containing several thousand yuan each. A rough estimate suggested there was at least a hundred thousand yuan in total.

Turning his gaze to Little Pudding squatting in front of the cart piled with red envelopes, Lu Chenghe raised an eyebrow: “Are you giving these to me to save for you, so you can ask me to buy things for you later?”

Zuo Ning quickly barked: “Woof!” Once bitten, twice shy. He couldn’t fall for the same trick twice!

Lu Chenghe chuckled softly: “You want me to save half of the red envelopes for you, while you secretly stash away a portion in your private fund. Your little scheme is quite clever.”

Zuo Ning pounced on Lu Chenghe, his fluffy white tail wagging back and forth behind him, looking at him eagerly: “Woof woof woof!” In this household, who doesn’t have a little scheme? Which man doesn’t hide a bit of pocket money?

Lu Chenghe looked at him: “Why should I help you save money and act as your mobile ATM?”

Zuo Ning thought for a moment, then placed his paws on his head and made a big heart gesture toward Lu Chenghe: “Awoo!” Because of love!

Lu Chenghe poked his head: “Where did you learn this messy pose? Watch less TV.”

Seeing that Lu Chenghe still didn’t agree, Zuo Ning climbed onto the bed and pressed himself against Lu Chenghe, rubbing his neck affectionately.

When Lu Chenghe turned his head away as Zuo Ning leaned in, Little Pudding got impatient. Zuo Ning used his paws to cradle Lu Chenghe’s face, forcing him to meet his gaze. Lu Chenghe silently observed him for a few seconds before speaking: “Do you know what you look like right now?”

Zuo Ning tilted his head in confusion, his eyes filled with question marks.

Lu Chenghe rubbed his ears back: “You look like a little mischievous dog. If things don’t go your way, you start causing a fuss.”

Zuo Ning turned his head, pressing his face against Lu Chenghe’s chest, and whimpered. He wasn’t being mischievous. It was Lu Chenghe who was too mean, always indulging his peculiar humor to tease him. Things that could be done so easily were deliberately made difficult, requiring Zuo Ning to fuss about to get an answer. Who’s the mischievous one here?!

Lu Chenghe glanced down at him: “Did you secretly stash away more than half of the red envelopes?”

Zuo Ning’s ears twitched before he softly replied, “Woof.” Of course, he had to. Otherwise, how would he manage when he turned human?

Lu Chenghe said, “I got you a card. The money you earned from your past movies is in it—roughly a million yuan. The password is simple; it’s your birthday.”

Zuo Ning raised his head to look at Lu Chenghe. His birthday? He had no idea what date his birthday was in this lifetime.

Seeing the puzzled expression on Little Pudding’s face, Lu Chenghe smiled: “Do you know your birthday?”

Zuo Ning quickly barked: “Woof woof!” No one ever told me, so how would I know?

Lu Chenghe reached over to the bedside table, took out a blank notebook and a pen, wrote down a series of numbers, and pointed at them as he taught Little Pudding: “170719. This is your birthday and also the password for your card. Remember these numbers.”

Zuo Ning didn’t think much and quickly responded, “Woof!” He absolutely had to remember the bank card password! Now, he was officially a nouveau riche, fresh-faced young man. How delightful.

Completely absorbed in the thought of being a little millionaire, silly Zuo Ning never questioned why Lu Chenghe would tell a dog such things, let alone teach him to recognize numbers and memorize passwords.

Seeing Little Pudding immersed in his own joy of being wealthy, Lu Chenghe helplessly set the notebook aside and began ruffling Zuo Ning’s furry head. “Go play somewhere else. I’m going to take a shower.”

Zuo Ning immediately pressed himself against Lu Chenghe, pointing his paw at the pile of red envelopes.

Lu Chenghe sighed, “I’ll save them for you.”

Only then did Zuo Ning let out a satisfied “Awoo,” finally letting Lu Chenghe go. Watching Lu Chenghe head toward the bathroom, Zuo Ning wagged his tail and jumped off the bed, intending to follow him. But Lu Chenghe blocked him at the bathroom door with his foot.

Zuo Ning looked at Lu Chenghe accusingly, “Woof woof woof!” It’s been ages since we bathed together. Are you hiding some other little spirit in there?!

Lu Chenghe pointed at the bed, “You’re already clean. I don’t have the energy to blow-dry your fur again. If you don’t behave, you’ll be sleeping downstairs tonight.”

Feeling wronged, Zuo Ning sat on the floor, watching as Lu Chenghe entered the bathroom without looking back and locked the door. He whimpered and lay down, ears perked up to listen to the sounds inside. The shower started running, and it seemed like water was being drawn into the bathtub as well.

After waiting for a while, Zuo Ning heard the shower turn off and the sound of someone entering the bathtub. He got up from the floor, shook his fur, and casually strolled into the walk-in closet.

The walk-in closet was connected to the bathroom by a hidden door, but Lu Chenghe had closed it to prevent Zuo Ning from wandering around. However, there was also a balcony connected to the outside. Zuo Ning had previously confirmed during a bathroom trip that the balcony door wasn’t locked.

Carefully, Zuo Ning sneaked from the balcony into the bathroom. The curtains inside the bathroom were already drawn. Even though it was his own home, Lu Chenghe seemed quite conservative, so much so that he even wore a bath towel while soaking in the tub to avoid being seen. Zuo Ning pushed the door with his paw. Sure enough, it wasn’t locked. Before making any noise to alert Lu Chenghe, Zuo Ning swiftly opened the door and dashed into the bathroom, heading straight for the bathtub.

A loud splash echoed as Zuo Ning landed in the tub. After flailing around for a while, he finally managed to get up, only to see Lu Chenghe staring at him with a blank expression, his face dripping with water. Zuo Ning quickly offered a warm smile: “Woof!”

The first bath together in over a month—definitely worth commemorating!

“Little Pudding!”

Zuo Ning proudly displayed his fancy dog-paddle skills in the tub, hearing Lu Chenghe call his name through gritted teeth. He couldn’t be more pleased; after all, who else in the world could make Lu Chenghe change his expression so quickly?

Lu Chenghe grabbed his ear: “You just had a bath. Don’t you hate the blow-dryer the most?”

Zuo Ning licked his hand: “Woof!” While he disliked the blow-dryer, he loved bathing together even more. Even though Lu Chenghe was conservative, his abs and mermaid lines were still a feast for the eyes.

Lu Chenghe slapped away Zuo Ning’s paw that was touching his abs. “You’re sleeping in the living room downstairs tonight!”

Zuo Ning whimpered softly and paddled away slowly. He didn’t believe such threats anymore. He’d heard them countless times.

Lu Chenghe had originally planned to enjoy a peaceful soak in the tub, but with Zuo Ning causing such a commotion, it was impossible. If Zuo Ning had just played quietly in the water, it would’ve been fine. But he always had to cling to Lu Chenghe, sticking to him for a while. Lu Chenghe knew dogs could be clingy, but his Little Pudding seemed exceptionally so.

He tapped Zuo Ning’s head. “I’ll deal with you later.” Then he got up to put on his clothes.

Zuo Ning grinned mischievously, watching Lu Chenghe, who clearly couldn’t do anything about him. He happily paddled around in the water with his long limbs. But soon, a familiar yet strange sensation stirred within Zuo Ning.

Aside from the two times he had transformed into a human while asleep, this feeling was identical to the one he experienced in the walk-in closet before his last transformation. Zuo Ning glanced at Lu Chenghe, who was in the changing area, putting on clothes. He decided he had to get out of the tub immediately and find a place to hide!

This uncontrollable transformation was utterly dreadful.

But before he could make it to the edge of the tub, his mind was flooded with panic.

Lu Chenghe moved quickly, only putting on a bathrobe. He felt it was necessary to teach Zuo Ning a lesson for his sudden antics. However, when he turned back to the bathtub, he didn’t see the mischievous Little Pudding splashing around. Instead, he saw a completely naked young man.

It was a figure whose outline Lu Chenghe had long memorized, even more so because of that brief video he had watched countless times. Sometimes, he could even picture every expression and smile with his eyes closed. He had thought catching Little Pudding in the act of secretly transforming into a human would be incredibly difficult. After all, a spirit capable of such a transformation would surely assess its surroundings before doing so.

But he had overestimated Little Pudding. Judging by the situation, Little Pudding had no absolute mastery over the skill of transforming into a human. Thankfully, this happened at home; if it had occurred outside, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Zuo Ning had initially planned to stand up and run away, but seeing Lu Chenghe return so quickly, he crouched in the tub, frozen in place. Someone, please tell him what to do in this situation! This was completely off-script from what he had envisioned!

His original plan was to gradually master the art of transforming into a human, seamlessly switching between human and dog forms. Then, he would sneak out, buy an identity, and work hard to establish himself as a human. Slowly, he would approach Lu Chenghe and eventually win him over.

By then, Lu Chenghe would surely be heartbroken over losing Little Pudding. Knowing Lu Chenghe as well as he did, Zuo Ning figured it would be ridiculously easy to cater to his preferences. At Lu Chenghe’s most vulnerable moment, Zuo Ning would step into his heart and—well, the rest would unfold like a romantic drama. He hadn’t watched all those idol dramas for nothing.

Once everything fell into place, Zuo Ning would reveal the truth to Lu Chenghe, that he was, in fact, the Little Pudding he had raised.

At that point, deeply in love, Lu Chenghe would undoubtedly say, ‘It doesn’t matter whether you’re human or a dog. I love you!’

And then they would live happily ever after.

To execute this grand plan, Zuo Ning had shamelessly started saving up his secret stash to buy an identity!

Why has it come to this? Why!

Zuo Ning, with his heart pounding as if it would leap out of his throat, crouched pitifully in the tub, looking at Lu Chenghe. He wasn’t sure if it was the cold water or the sheer terror of the situation causing him to tremble. After all, a big dog transforming into a human—this was beyond terrifying for an ordinary person. Something like this might even warrant being turned over to the authorities.

Lu Chenghe stared at him sternly for a while, tightened his bathrobe, and slowly approached, asking, “Who are you, and where is my dog?”

Zuo Ning swallowed nervously, his tongue twisting as he stammered, “I… I-I mean… I’m Little Pudding. Do you believe me?”

The last two words were spoken with utmost caution and anxiety. He was certain Lu Chenghe would believe him. How else could a fully unclothed person sneak in within less than a minute, and the dog vanish? But Zuo Ning was unsure whether Lu Chenghe could accept it. After all, something like this would likely be impossible for anyone to immediately come to terms with.

However, what Zuo Ning heard wasn’t shock from Lu Chenghe. Instead, he said, with unsettling calmness, “I don’t believe you. This is trespassing. I’m calling the police.”
