Wealthy Woof Chapter 75

Don't show mercy to yourself

The biggest difference in front of Lu Chenghe now that he can transform into a human is that he can order food for himself. Before, Lu Chenghe only treated him as a spirit, but a spirit is still a dog. Each time Lu Chenghe gave him food that dogs might not be able to eat, he would observe his reactions and periodically conduct check-ups. Only after confirming there were no issues would he let him eat freely. Now that Little Pudding can fully transform into a human, it stands to reason that his internal system is different. It should be fine for him to fully accept human food. So, Lu Chenghe stopped controlling everything he ate.

When the secretary came in holding a stack of documents, she glanced out of the corner of her eye at the snow-white Samoyed lying on the sofa, a sight she had long grown accustomed to. The first time she saw a dog in the boss’s office, if not for her professional demeanor, she would have rubbed her eyes to confirm whether this was real.

Now, most of the senior executives at the company know the boss brings his dog to work every day. It’s said that this is the boss’s most beloved dog, and he even bought it an airplane. Apparently, the dog is very attached to the boss. Even if someone at home keeps it company, it will still cry every day if the boss isn’t around. It’s said the boss decided to bring the dog, named Little Pudding, to work every day because it was on the verge of depression, and he couldn’t bear to see it suffer.

The key point is, Little Pudding is a celebrity dog that has starred in two critically acclaimed, award-winning films. Recently, the secretarial department has been making more trips to deliver documents for the boss to sign.

The secretary expertly sorted the documents in front of Lu Chenghe, with each color-coded folder representing a different type of document. Regardless of the type, anything requiring the boss’s personal signature was certainly no small matter. After placing a few urgent files in front of the boss, the secretary stood by to wait.

At this moment, the dog lying on the sofa turned its head and barked at the boss: “Woof!”

Curious, the secretary tilted her head to look at the dog. Its snow-white fur was simply so adorable, it was irresistible. Surely, hugging it tightly would feel amazing!

Without lifting his head, the boss said, “Just wait a bit longer.”

The secretary thought the boss was talking to her and was about to respond, but then the Samoyed let out a howl, turned its head, and quietly settled down without making a fuss.

The secretary stuck out her tongue slightly in embarrassment; she had almost gotten ahead of herself. Luckily, she hadn’t spoken up, or it would’ve been awkward.

As she took the signed documents out of the office, she overheard the boss speaking in a tone so gentle that it could only be described as tender—talking to the Samoyed, apparently about lunch.

The secretary clicked her tongue in amazement. Discussing meal choices with a dog? The boss’s love for his dog seemed even more obsessive than the assistant who treated it like his own child.

After finishing the urgent documents that needed attention today, Lu Chenghe walked to the sofa. He saw Little Pudding look up at him briefly before eagerly flipping through a large menu booklet, pointing to various dishes that appeared exceedingly spicy.

Lu Chenghe frowned. “No, these are way too spicy. Your stomach can’t handle it.”

Zuo Ning immediately threw himself onto Lu Chenghe, hugging him while wagging his tail enthusiastically. “Woof!” I can handle it. Don’t underestimate me!

Lu Chenghe gave him a skeptical look and pointed at one particular spicy dish, “Mao Xue Wang”, and said, “You can have just this one spicy dish. If you don’t get an upset stomach, then we’ll talk about other dishes next time.”

Zuo Ning glanced back at the menu, hesitating as he looked at Sour Soup Fatty Beef, Boiled Fish Fillets, Spicy Chicken Gizzards, and what appeared to be an incredibly delicious Spicy Fried Chicken. Reluctantly, he turned his gaze toward Lu Chenghe and let out a pitiful whine: “Awoo…”

Lu Chenghe said firmly, “Speak in human language. If you do, I’ll let you eat.”

Zuo Ning immediately shot Lu Chenghe a resentful side-eye. This was too much bullying for a dog! If only he could control his transformation better, would his choice of food still be this restricted?

Lu Chenghe gave him a light smack on the head, producing a crisp sound.

Zuo Ning quickly hugged his head and let out a howl. Lu Chenghe was becoming increasingly ruthless toward him!

Lu Chenghe’s diet had always been light and focused on preserving the original flavors of food, often enhanced with special spices to bring out the natural taste. Even when it came to Chinese cuisine, he mostly ate dishes prepared by high-end chefs, unlike Little Pudding, who loved heavily seasoned food that completely masked the original taste of the ingredients.

Lu Chenghe found it puzzling. He had raised this dog himself, feeding him all kinds of refined food since he was young. Even when giving him human food, it was always the same high-quality meals that Lu Chenghe ate. So why did this little creature develop such peculiar tastes, preferring heavily spiced dishes over the many delicious options available?

Still, Lu Chenghe knew his dog well. Even with the addition of other dishes and a large bowl of white rice, the portion was just right for an adult Samoyed’s appetite. If Lu Chenghe hadn’t firmly controlled him, Little Pudding would have devoured the entire plate of “Mao Xue Wang” in one go.

This was the first time Zuo Ning, in his dog form, had eaten such intensely flavored food. Even for someone who could handle spicy food, a long break from it would lower their tolerance, let alone Zuo Ning, whose dog body had never been exposed to the fiery challenge of chili peppers. Yet, despite tears streaming down his face and his nose running uncontrollably, he couldn’t stop eating, leaving Lu Chenghe both helpless and amused.

The outcome was predictable: before Lu Chenghe’s workday ended, Zuo Ning had already had diarrhea twice.

Lu Chenghe had no choice but to leave work early to get medicine for him, feeling an urge to grab Zuo Ning’s ears and give him a stern lecture.

Zuo Ning, however, was completely unfazed. After all, isn’t it normal to have a few rounds of diarrhea after eating overly spicy hotpot? Besides, it was just diarrhea. It wasn’t particularly painful, so it was fine. The only downside was that every time he went to the bathroom, he had to carefully lift his tail to avoid dirtying the fur on his backside. Otherwise, having Lu Chenghe wash his fur would be an unbearably humiliating experience for a dog.

His stomach continued to rumble. Although the medicine had improved the situation, the effects weren’t immediate. Lying on the bed, Zuo Ning watched as Lu Chenghe prepared another dose of medicine for him. He couldn’t help but roll over and let out a sigh.

Lu Chenghe glanced back at him. “I haven’t even sighed yet, and here you are sighing. I told you not to eat spicy food, but you didn’t listen.”

Zuo Ning turned his head away. A health-conscious person like Lu Chenghe wouldn’t understand that the aftereffects of eating spicy food are perfectly normal. Fortunately, Lu Chenghe hadn’t said he would never let him eat spicy food again; otherwise, Zuo Ning would definitely have argued with him.

After preparing the medicinal drink, Lu Chenghe walked over. Zuo Ning instinctively sprawled onto him and opened his mouth, waiting to be fed.

The moment the drink entered his mouth, a familiar sensation surged through him. Zuo Ning’s eyes widened as he stared at Lu Chenghe.

Lu Chenghe looked at him. “What’s wrong? Is it too bitter?”

But before he could finish speaking, the snow-white Little Pudding suddenly transformed into a bare-skinned young man.

Luckily, Little Pudding had been lying down, so Lu Chenghe only saw a bare back. After locking eyes with the now completely unclothed person for three seconds, Lu Chenghe quickly pulled a blanket over him. “Didn’t you feel anything before transforming into a human?”

Embarrassed from being seen, Zuo Ning hid under the blanket, revealing only half of his head. “I did. I felt warm all over, and then I transformed.”

Lu Chenghe observed him. “It’s only been a day since your last transformation. It seems you’re turning into a human more frequently. If you still can’t control the process, you might not be able to go out for a while. It’s too risky.”

Zuo Ning curled up under the blanket without saying a word. Lu Chenghe continued, “Before transforming, did you eat anything similar or do anything the same as before?”

Zuo Ning thought for a moment and replied, “I just really wanted to. I wanted to become human.”

Earlier, he had been thinking how great it would be to transform into a human at that moment—then he wouldn’t have to deal with the embarrassment of diarrhea dirtying his fur.

“So, the most likely reason you can transform into a human is purely based on willpower, right?”

Zuo Ning nodded. He thought this was highly probable, but controlling something like willpower was easier said than done. Every time he tried to focus on something, his thoughts would inevitably wander.

Seeing the utterly clueless Little Pudding, Lu Chenghe sighed helplessly. “Take it slow.”

There wasn’t much else they could do besides taking it slow. Zuo Ning’s stomach rumbled again. He hesitated, looking at Lu Chenghe.

Being so close, Lu Chenghe naturally heard the gurgling sounds from Zuo Ning’s stomach. He got up, grabbed a robe, and handed it to him. As soon as Zuo Ning put it on, he dashed straight to the bathroom.

When Zuo Ning came out of the bathroom again, he clutched his stomach and looked pitifully at Lu Chenghe. “Lu Chenghe, my stomach hurts.”

Lu Chenghe frowned slightly and stood up. “Didn’t you say earlier it was just diarrhea and didn’t hurt? Is it really bad? I’ll call a doctor.”

Zuo Ning quickly grabbed Lu Chenghe. “No! No need. Um, can you rub my stomach instead? Otherwise, how would you explain suddenly having another person in your room?”

Lu Chenghe looked at him. “Who would even come to my room over something like this? What’s there to explain?”

Zuo Ning was momentarily speechless. As someone who once had to sneakily eat takeout without any autonomy, he didn’t really understand the adult world. Seeing Lu Chenghe squinting at him, Zuo Ning decisively flopped onto the bed, hugged a pillow, and looked at Lu Chenghe. “It hurts. Can you rub it for me, please?”

A little rascal whose every act was easily seen through. How could Lu Chenghe not realize that Zuo Ning was just being unreasonable and acting spoiled? If his stomach really hurt, he wouldn’t be behaving like this at all. But the little guy had indeed had diarrhea several times, so he was definitely uncomfortable, even if it wasn’t terribly painful. Seeing those expectant eyes, Lu Chenghe unconsciously sat down by the bed and started rubbing his stomach.

As a dog, he had been so plump and sturdy, but as a human, he barely had any meat on him. Despite running with Lu Chenghe every morning, his stomach was just a soft lump of flesh with no hint of abs.

Lu Chenghe pinched a small layer of soft flesh on his stomach and said, “Once your transformations stabilize, you’ll be exercising with me every day.”

Zuo Ning let out a dramatic wail and flopped onto the bed. What had started as an attempt to act clingy and get some attention had somehow backfired on him.
