Wealthy Woof Chapter 8

Mastering the skill of climbing into bed

Lu Chenghe felt that Little Pudding had become even more clingy; always circling him and constantly rubbing against him. Compared to when it had first been sent by his mother, frightened and unwilling to come near, this was a world of difference. However, considering that he couldn’t accompany it during the day and had to leave it alone at home, his tolerance had grown a little. As long as it didn’t disturb him, he allowed it to be.

So, instead of sitting in front of his computer after dinner to handle work, Lu Chenghe had to lie down on the sofa with his laptop because a little Samoyed was lying on his chest, refusing to budge.

Zuo Ning had noticed that Lu Chenghe was a bit gentler with him today compared to yesterday, which was why he dared to get closer and have more intimate contact with him. It had to be said that Lu Chenghe, a man with the aura of a male god, had a really good physique. From the touch of his paw, Zuo Ning could feel that he had six-pack abs. Even though Lu Chenghe was lying down, he could still clearly feel those defined lines.

He reached out his paw and touched again. Hmm, it was a bit firm, but it felt really good!

Lu Chenghe pressed down on the paw that was wandering around and gently stroked the fluffy little head, his voice calm as he said, “If you keep moving like that, I’ll put you down.”

Zuo Ning wagged his tail and let out a little whine, obediently stopping. However, not long after, he began restlessly turning his head. Lifting it up, he rubbed his head against Lu Chenghe’s chin and continued to nuzzle, sniffing the faint scent of Lu Chenghe while squinting his eyes, unconsciously letting out a small purring sound.

Lu Chenghe, while stroking the fur, continued to handle his work, until Little Pudding, lying on his chest, finally stopped moving its tail and its little belly’s movements became steady and rhythmic. Only then did Lu Chenghe gently lift it and place it back in its kennel. Seeing the little white ball still sleeping soundly, Lu Chenghe smiled slightly, gently pinched the little pointed ear, and returned to his work.

In the middle of the night, a flash of white light lit up the sky, followed by a thunderclap that seemed to explode in the air. Dogs’ hearing is many times more sensitive than humans’, so Zuo Ning had already been awakened by the light rain that had started earlier. The thunder sounded as if it was right next to him.

Perhaps an ordinary dog would be scared the first time they heard thunder, but Zuo Ning, with a human soul, knew exactly what that loud sound was. Although the sudden noise startled him, he wasn’t afraid.

However, seeing that Lu Chenghe was also disturbed by the thunder, he seemed to have slightly risen and glanced at him. Zuo Ning’s eyes quickly shifted. He hurriedly climbed out of his kennel, standing by the fence and making little whimpering noises.

Lu Chenghe turned on the small night light next to the kennel, walked over, and petted the Little Pudding who was leaning against the fence. “It’s just thunder. Don’t be afraid. Go back to sleep, good boy.”

Zuo Ning let out a soft whimper, one paw reaching out toward Lu Chenghe, clearly signaling he wanted to be held. Just then, another flash of lightning streaked across the sky. Lu Chenghe quickly covered Little Pudding’s ears with both hands, just as the thunder clapped again.

Lu Chenghe looked down at the wet eyes and helplessly tapped its little nose. “Just this once.” With that, he picked the dog up and lay back down in bed.

After successfully getting into the bed, Zuo Ning nestled into Lu Chenghe’s blanket. One paw rested on Lu Chenghe’s arm, and he curled himself into a ball, adjusting to a comfortable position that was close to Lu Chenghe but not under pressure. He yawned widely, licked his nose, and after feeling comfortable, closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

The night before, the little one had secretly climbed into bed and slept the whole night without Lu Chenghe noticing, so he hadn’t felt much of it. But now that he had personally placed Little Pudding on the bed and knowing there was a little ball of fluff in his bed, Lu Chenghe was somewhat worried that he might roll over in his sleep and accidentally crush it. So, he kept waking up during the night, unable to sleep soundly.

When morning light began to break, Lu Chenghe turned his head and saw that the little one, who had originally been sleeping by his side, had now completely occupied the whole pillow, sleeping soundly and sweetly. Unable to resist, Lu Chenghe reached out and poked the little belly, then quietly got out of bed.

When Zuo Ning woke up, there was no one in the bed anymore. He stretched lazily and then, following the small staircase with three steps on the other side, he climbed down with great difficulty, stumbling as he made his way to the back garden. It was still raining outside. He peered out for a moment but didn’t see Lu Chenghe.

After coming out of the gym, Lu Chenghe glanced out the window and saw that Little Pudding was sitting in the back garden corridor, looking as silly as ever, waiting like he did every morning when he used to wait for Lu Chenghe to return from his morning run. Lu Chenghe couldn’t help but smile as he dried his freshly washed hair and walked toward the dining room.

It wasn’t until the butler came over and picked him up that Zuo Ning realized there was actually a gym in the house. On rainy days, Lu Chenghe would work out in the gym. When Zuo Ning saw Lu Chenghe already sitting at the dining table, he quickly jumped out of the butler’s arms.

However, his landing wasn’t very graceful. He let out a little grunt as he stumbled and got up groggily. He turned around to look at the butler and was immediately stunned by his own actions. He had been too scared to jump off the bed, but here he was, jumping off the butler’s arms. Surely it was just because of the beauty of the man!

Seeing Zuo Ning dazed, Lu Chenghe bent down and picked him up, gently rubbing the spot where he had landed. “No more jumping around like that. If you hurt yourself, you’ll make me worry.”

Zuo Ning stuck out his tongue and licked Lu Chenghe’s hand. He had originally thought he would feel some resistance to such an action, especially since he used to be human, but it didn’t feel as strange as he expected. In fact, the sensation of being surrounded by Lu Chenghe’s presence made him feel unexpectedly content.

He relaxed, squinting his eyes in pleasure. As he looked up, he saw Lu Chenghe, whose expression was not overly expressive, but his gaze held a trace of warmth. Zuo Ning’s heart skipped a beat, then began to race wildly in his chest.

Unconsciously, Zuo Ning covered his face with both paws. This man was just too unfairly handsome!

The rain had been pouring for a long while, seemingly determined to take away the last traces of warmth, only stopping when Zuo Ning had passed the vaccination period and taken a thorough bath, inside and out. It was only then that the sky began to clear.

After some time of healthy and nutritious feeding, Zuo Ning had grown from a small milk-like ball into a larger, more noticeable round form. The handsome contours were starting to show. His slightly pointed ears stood upright, shaking cutely with every movement.

Zuo Ning’s temperament had always been rather easygoing. Although sometimes he would feel melancholic about the life he had lost, he wouldn’t stay hidden in his kennel brooding over it. After noticing that Lu Chenghe’s affection for him had been increasing day by day, Zuo Ning gradually became bolder, taking advantage of the times when Lu Chenghe wasn’t home to explore this house, which seemed as grand as a palace to him.

Only now did he realize that while Lu Chenghe and his mother lived together, they actually occupied two separate villas within a large estate. The day he had been brought over by Lu Chenghe’s mother, they had walked through an internal corridor, twisting and turning in such a way that he had gotten completely lost.

If not for seeing the butler carrying his old toys from when he had been at Lu Chenghe’s mother’s place, Zuo Ning, curious, ran over to the side door and peeked outside. He hadn’t realized that he used to live on that side. No wonder he had been running around the house every day but could never find the place where he used to stay.

Hearing the familiar sound of a car, Zuo Ning stretched out a paw to hit the tablet, then jumped off the couch and dashed to the door like a cannonball. As soon as Lu Chenghe got out of the car, he saw a white ball of fluff rushing toward him. He bent down to scoop up Little Pudding as it ran toward him.

Holding the little tail that felt like it might break off with a flick, he instinctively shook the weight, feeling that the little dog had grown a little. Satisfied, he walked toward the living room.

As usual, Lu Chenghe would first go to the walk-in closet on the first floor to freshen up and change into comfortable home clothes. However, today, he just sat down on the couch with Zuo Ning in his arms. When Zuo Ning saw Lu Chenghe take a small box out of his pocket, he quickly pawed at Lu Chenghe’s hand, curious to see what was inside.

Lu Chenghe rubbed the little one’s head, opening the box to reveal a collar, a thick silver-white chain. The chain connected to a dog tag with four small ends locking the four corners of the tag. One side of the tag was engraved with a dog’s name in both Chinese and English. The other side had a message and a phone number.

Lu Chenghe placed Zuo Ning on his lap and fastened the collar. The chain was adjustable, neither too tight nor too loose. Although the collar felt a little uncomfortable around his neck, Zuo Ning knew that having the dog tag meant that if he ever got lost, he could potentially be found again. So, he didn’t resist much, just giving it a little swipe with his paw.

After securing it, Lu Chenghe picked Zuo Ning up and looked at him, noticing that against the sea of white fur, a hint of silver was peeking through. It wasn’t too obvious but still looked good. He gently rubbed the dog’s head and then took off the tag.

Zuo Ning looked at Lu Chenghe in confusion. Wasn’t this supposed to be for him? Why was it taken off again?

Perhaps understanding his confusion, Lu Chenghe casually explained, “I’ll put it back on if we go out, but you don’t need to wear it at home.”

Zuo Ning thought to himself, that made sense. After all, he wasn’t really a dog. He was quite self-aware and certainly wouldn’t run off. Not wearing it at home would make things easier for him too.

Just as Zuo Ning was thinking this, he heard Lu Chenghe add, “The dog tag has a location tracker, but if you dare run off and get lost, I’ll stop looking for you.” He then tapped Zuo Ning’s nose. “Did you hear that?”

Zuo Ning instinctively barked, “Woof!” Hmm, yes, yes, I absolutely won’t run off! But a location tracker in a dog tag? Nowadays, even dog tags are so high-tech?

Usually (in the US) if you have a dog or cat you just get a tiny microchip inserted in the scruff of their neck. If the pet is found and taken to a vet, they will scan it to identify the owner and associated contact info. So having a real time GPS tracking chip in a tag is pretty useful. Since microchips are not capable of GPS tracking. I bet the GPS tag would be quite expensive ofc!!!
