“You said that since I’m a dominant omega, I’d learn quickly.”

“Mmm. Did I?”

Director Yeon smiled warmly as he continued to absentmindedly touch the delicate skin of Jung Heeyeon’s nape. The ticklish sensation made Jung Heeyeon glance down at the large hand brushing against him. Why did he keep touching there? As the thought crossed his mind, a memory surfaced—he recalled the mark he had noticed after showering and changing into his pajamas.

“Ah.”

“Heeyeon, does it hurt?”

Despite the gentle tone, Director Yeon’s hand showed no signs of stopping. Jung Heeyeon shook his head. There was a faint sensation that resembled pain, but it wasn’t quite the same. When he had been bruised from being hit before, even the slightest touch had hurt, but this felt different.

“No, it’s just… I think a bug bit me where you’re touching, Director.”

“A bug bit you?”

“Yes. It’s red.”

“That’s not from a bug.”

Director Yeon let out a low chuckle, looking somewhat amused.

“That’s because I was being affectionate with you.”

What did affection have to do with marks left on his body? Jung Heeyeon didn’t understand at all, but he still liked the fact that Director Yeon was adoring him. He fiddled with his small nails and parted his lips, speaking in a soft voice.

“I like it when you show me affection, Director. Please adore me more.”

The hand gliding over his skin came to an abrupt halt.

“If I do more, you’ll end up crying.”

Jung Heeyeon also failed to grasp the connection between Director Yeon’s affection and him crying. Still, he didn’t mind. If it was something Director Yeon did to him, then anything was fine.

“…But it’s okay if I cry because of you, Director.”

“Haaa. Jung Heeyeon….”

Director Yeon let out a short, breathy laugh, then cupped Jung Heeyeon’s cheek with one hand, exasperated by the obliviously dangerous words tumbling from his lips. And without hesitation, he pushed his tongue between the slightly parted lips.

“Mpfh…!”

The thick muscle of the alpha’s tongue completely enveloped the smaller tongue, licking and sucking at will. His movements were urgent and rough.

Startled by the sudden kiss, Jung Heeyeon clung tightly to Director Yeon’s clothes. He had already been feeling happy from the warm afternoon sunlight and the way Director Yeon had said he was showing him affection. And now, this unexpected kiss too. Unlike last time, the kiss was so rushed that he had trouble keeping up, but just the fact that he was sharing body heat with Director Yeon made him more than willing. His eyes shut instinctively.

“I’ll keep adoring you from now on….”

The kiss didn’t last long. Only after the tongue that had been stirring inside his mouth withdrew did Jung Heeyeon slowly open his eyes. Director Yeon’s hand reached out, gently brushing over Jung Heeyeon’s slightly parted lips as he caught his breath.

“You don’t have to keep being so adorable.”

The man bared his teeth in his smile.

“I will be going.”

Just before stepping out of the car, Jung Heeyeon turned to Director Yeon and gave a polite farewell. Director Yeon, who had been checking his tablet with a blank expression, smirked slightly at the obedient goodbye and lifted his gaze.

“Do you want me to walk you in?”

“Pardon? It’s alright. We’re right in front…”

To be honest, this moment of parting with Director Yeon felt somewhat awkward for Jung Heeyeon. He had spent nearly all his time with the man, either at his side or in his space. And unlike a few days ago when he had met Lee Haejin at Suryeo for just a few hours, today, they would be apart for more than half the day.

The unusual start to his day felt a little unfamiliar, but since he was meeting Lee Haejin, he figured it would be alright. Lately, Jung Heeyeon had been doing things quite well on his own. Visiting someone else’s home for the first time was new, but not worrisome. He wasn’t a lost child, after all. All he had to do was call the owner of the place and step through the open door.

In short, there was no real reason for Director Yeon to walk him. Especially not when the car was already parked right in front of Lee Haejin’s place.

“You don’t want me to come in with you?”

Director Yeon asked teasingly.

“No, I can go in alone.”

“Hmmm. You can go in alone?”

The chauffeur, who had been waiting attentively, stepped forward and opened the door. As Jung Heeyeon placed one foot on the ground, he turned back slightly.

“Director, I’ll get going now. Oh, and thank you for buying this for me.”

A small white paper box dangled from his fingertips—inside was a slice of cake.

“Eat it by yourself.”

Jung Heeyeon blinked, seemingly to take the teasing seriously. His round eyes curved slightly in confusion.

“I can’t share it with Haejin-hyung?”

“If Heeyeon eats it with Haejin-hyung, then what about this director?”

Even though Director Yeon was on a tight schedule, he deliberately continued teasing. At his playful remark, the pinkish nails clutching the cake box twitched restlessly.

“Then, I’ll give you my share, Director Yeon.”

There wasn’t even a hint of deceit in his sincere expression. He didn’t look the least bit reluctant either.Seeing such a pure and well-intentioned offer, Director Yeon tilted his head slightly. The small paper box in Jung Heeyeon’s hands contained two slices of cake bought yesterday.

‘Director, can I buy two slices of cake?’

Jung Heeyeon had pointed hesitantly at the display case when he asked. Since he had stopped taking suppressants, his pheromones were unconsciously seeping into the air. Fortunately, with a dominant Alpha by his side, no one else seemed to notice. Director Yeon had found it both odd and endearing that Jung Heeyeon, who never had any greed for more than his share, was suddenly expressing a want for something. So he answered casually.

‘Buy as much as you want.’

‘Then, I’ll get two slices. Thank you.’

Director Yeon had assumed Jung Heeyeon would eat one as soon as they got home. But instead, like a squirrel storing acorns, he had tucked both slices away in the refrigerator.

‘Heeyeon, if you want to eat the cake, you can have it now.’

’Ah, no… I bought it as a gift for tomorrow.’

‘A gift?’

Tomorrow was the day he was supposed to meet Lee Haejin.

‘Yes. You’re supposed to bring something when you visit someone’s house, right…?’

So the item the omega was holding now—just as he was about to step out of the car—was a gift meant for Lee Haejin. Director Yeon reached out his hand, and instead of stepping out of the car, Jung Heeyeon naturally turned his body inward. The chauffeur, reading the situation, closed the door for them. Director Yeon, just as he would usually, cupped Jung Heeyeon’s fair cheek and brushed over the soft curve of his eye.

“I was just kidding. You can have it all.”

“Then, can I share it too?”

“Yeah.”

As Director Yeon withdrew his hand, Jung Heeyeon hesitated, his fingers fidgeting in thought. Even though time was slipping away, Director Yeon didn’t bother to rush him.

“Director… Can I give you a peck?”

He had told Jung Heeyeon to stop being so adorable, but he kept doing it, and this was a problem. There was nothing good to be gained from acting so prettily. Even as that thought crossed his mind, Director Yeon lightly tapped his own cheek with his index finger. A moment later, soft lips briefly touched the spot he indicated before pulling away.

Jung Heeyeon must have grown accustomed to pecks by now, as he smiled faintly and opened the door himself.

“I’ll be going now. I think Haejin hyung is waiting.”

As soon as he stepped out of the car, the winter wind tousled his hair. The cold air made the tip of his nose sting. Just before closing the door, he hesitated slightly, as if something had come to mind. The car hadn’t left yet, and Director Yeon was still seated inside, tilting his head as he gazed at him.

“Director.”

“Yeah, Heeyeon?”

The wind kept whipping through Jung Heeyeon’s brown hair, scattering it messily. He furrowed his brows slightly, as if annoyed by the relentless breeze. Maybe it was because of the faintly upturned corners of his lips, but even with his mouth pressed shut, it looked as though a small smile was lingering there.

It was nothing remarkable, yet a curious thought suddenly passed through Director Yeon’s mind— What if Jung Heeyeon had lived an ordinary life? Just until a month ago, he might have still been wearing a school uniform, heading to class. He could easily imagine him making that same annoyed expression because of the wind. It wasn’t difficult to picture a peaceful Jung Heeyeon living a normal life. Director Yeon’s lips unconsciously tightened.

“If I miss you, can I give you a call?”

Jung Heeyeon, unaware of the thoughts running through the man’s head, asked his question innocently. He had suddenly recalled the time he called Director Yeon the day he first met Lee Haejin. He didn’t have a phone, but if he asked Lee Haejin, maybe he could make a call.

The alpha’s stiffened lips finally relaxed.

“You should if you want to. Should I be waiting for it?”

“Yes. Then, I’ll be going now. Please take care.”

Jung Heeyeon gave a small bow before closing the car door.
