DQGTFL chapter 49

Perhaps afraid that Fu Wenshan would come back to hold them accountable, Li Siheng and the others slipped away early the next morning.

But they left a note on Fu Wenshan and Xie Wanxing’s door.

Xie Wanxing tore it off and found that it was addressed to him.

“Mr. Xie Wanxing, Fu Wenshan is all yours from now on, no need to repay us~ We’ll leave first, looking forward to meeting you again in the future. We all really like you.”

Below were several messy signatures, crowded onto a small piece of paper.

As Xie Wanxing looked at it, he couldn’t help but smile. Fu Wenshan did indeed have some very good friends.

He tucked the note into his pocket.

….

After finishing breakfast at Starry Sea, Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan drove back together.

Fu Wenshan’s mood was visibly good all morning. Even when waiting at red lights, he would turn his head to look at Xie Wanxing, a smile never leaving his lips.

Xie Wanxing felt helpless under his gaze. Even pretending not to see him didn’t work. “What are you looking at?”

Fu Wenshan wasn’t looking at anything in particular. He just couldn’t help but feel elated when he thought about the jealousy he had felt before, those messy imaginations of Xie Wanxing’s past lovers who he might still be attached to, only to realize that they all didn’t exist at all.

The red light turned green, and traffic resumed on the road.

As Fu Wenshan drove, he said, “I was thinking earlier, if any of your former lovers came to pester you, what should I do? Should I embrace you affectionately or warn them to stay far away? But it turns out I was overthinking everything.”

Xie Wanxing was amused by this, “You really have a vivid imagination.”

Fu Wenshan didn’t argue. He asked Xie Wanxing, “Haven’t you thought about it?”

Xie Wanxing initially wanted to argue, but after a few seconds, he admitted, “I have.”

Both of them burst into laughter.

Their gathering didn’t last long, and Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan’s holiday life came to an end. However, among the pile of work that came knocking on their door, there was actually one that invited both of them, or more accurately, specially invited them.

Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan looked at the plan in their hands together. It was for an indoor variety show called “Love Barometer”. From the name alone, it was obvious it was a love show, but instead of inviting real couples, they invited some rumored CPs who either didn’t know each other at all or had a high public interest, to come on the show and pretend to be a couple, living together for a week.

Obviously, because of the recent photo scandal, the program team had set their sights on the popularity of Fu Wenshan and Xie Wanxing.

After discussing with Jiang Han and Lian Dan, they suggested taking it, as it would pave the way for their future.

“This program has always had good ratings, it’s the most powerful one in the same genre. And this program has always been dubbed the matchmaker variety show, because several pairs of celebrities who participated in the show soon officially announced their relationships,” Jiang Han pushed up his glasses, “For you two, it’s just right.”

Lian Dan agreed. Looking at the current situation, it seemed that Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan would announce their relationship sooner or later, so it was better to preheat it in advance and give everyone a precautionary measure to try to minimize any unexpected changes.

Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan had no objections. Five days later, they packed their bags and got into the car prepared by the program team.

The program team came to their house to pick them up. From this moment on, the cameraman started working, and the host, Lan Bing, only just found out that Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan were actually neighbors, her eyes burning with gossip.

Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan didn’t avoid it.

Fu Wenshan answered the host’s question with a smile, “When I moved, I didn’t know who my neighbor was at all. At that time, I had just finished filming ‘Unexpected encounter’ and returned home from the plane. When I looked next door, I was surprised to find that it was Xie Wanxing, who had just separated from me. I was amazed.”

The host nodded repeatedly in agreement, but didn’t believe a word. She firmly believed that they must have moved together to cover up their underground romance. Jiangcheng is so big, how could they coincidentally become neighbors?

When they arrived at the villa arranged by the program team, Xie Wanxing only then realized that there were acquaintances among the guests.

Zhou Ying was originally chatting with someone in the living room. When he saw Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan, he rushed over, “Xie-ge, Fu-ge!”

Xie Wanxing hugged Zhou Ying and rubbed his head with a smile. But before he could say anything to Zhou Ying, a tall, black-clad guy walked over, also greeting them with a smile.

“Wu Ran?” Xie Wanxing was genuinely surprised.

He looked at Zhou Ying, then at Wu Ran, horrified at the thought that they might also be a couple this time? The fans would surely tear the program apart?

Wu Ran saw what he was thinking and explained, “We are also guests, but we are not the couple this time. Our partners are all girls. Xie-ge, this time it’s only you and Fu-ge as a couple.”

He wasn’t as naive as Zhou Ying, who still thought these two were fake lovers, and that the photos were just paparazzi speculation.

He winked at Xie Wanxing and whispered, “Congratulations.”

Xie Wanxing naturally knew what he meant and smiled, accepting the congratulations.

Only Zhou Ying was still chattering, “Actually, the program team wanted me to partner with Wu Ran, but as soon as there was a hint of this, our fans started fighting. Oh well, we had to give up.”

He was quite regretful.

Xie Wanxing couldn’t stop laughing. He asked Zhou Ying, “Then who is your partner?”

Zhou Ying was about to speak when the door was pushed open, and a petite girl with luggage walked in, wearing a high ponytail, a white T-shirt, and a red plaid skirt.

Social media expert? Zhou Ying waved to her, “Su Yan, over here.”

He turned to Xie Wanxing again, “This is my partner, Su Yan.”

Xie Wanxing watched the cute figure walking towards them, and it took him a while to resist screaming on the spot, but a faint squeal still escaped his throat weakly.

Xie Wanxing, twenty-five years old, a rising star in the entertainment industry, appeared glamorous on the surface but was actually crazy about the leader of the girl group, Su Yan—a love like raising a child.

Fu Wenshan remained calm and greeted Su Yan calmly.

He had been a special mentor on a talent show with Su Yan before and had even helped Xie Wanxing get an autograph from her.

After Su Yan finished talking to Fu Wenshan, she turned to Xie Wanxing, “Teacher Xie, hello, I really like the dramas you’ve acted in, and I’ve been waiting for ‘Rain in the Demon City’ to be released.”

Xie Wanxing almost let out another squeal. His eyes were particularly affectionate, like a kind father.

He held back and restrained himself from saying “I like you too” and instead nodded politely, “I’ve also seen your dance, very good.”

Balanced and courteous, not overstepping.

Su Yan was a bit surprised by the attention, not expecting Xie Wanxing to have seen her dance. She smiled back at him.

Only Fu Wenshan knew that the back of his hand was almost swollen from Xie Wanxing’s grip.
