DQGTFL chapter 55

Final Extra - I Do

Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan’s wedding was set for the end of summer, September 21st.

At first, aside from a few close friends, no one in their circle knew they were already preparing for the wedding. After all, dating was one thing, but marriage was another. They were both young, with promising futures ahead, so there was no reason to pack themselves into the tomb of love so early.

Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan didn’t deliberately bring it up either. They both agreed that marriage was their own business, not a ceremony for the outside world. Apart from family and close friends, they wouldn’t invite anyone else.

The two of them quietly went to order wedding suits, then quietly decided on a venue for the wedding. Everything proceeded smoothly.

They were just like any other ordinary couple, sitting on the sofa on a sunny afternoon, flipping through catalogs together, choosing between rose bouquets and hydrangeas for the wedding.

However, soon Fu Wenshan realized that being too low-key wasn’t a good thing either.

Because there were still some people who shamelessly tried to come between them.

It all started when Xie Wanxing did a cover shoot for a fashion magazine. Fu Wenshan was quite familiar with the person in charge of the magazine, so when he heard that Xie Wanxing had finished work, he went to pick him up.

However, when he walked into the dressing room, he found that the door wasn’t tightly closed, despite having a “do not disturb” sign hanging on it. It looked closed on the surface, but it was actually slightly open, so when he pushed the door, it opened soundlessly, and the people inside didn’t even realize the door had been opened.

Xie Wanxing was not the only one in the dressing room. There was another tall and handsome young man standing next to him. Just by looking at his appearance, he gave off a vibe that was currently popular – both gentle and masculine. Just as Fu Wenshan was about to step in, he heard the young man choke up and say, “Teacher Xie, I like you more than anyone else. I’ve known you much longer than Fu Wenshan. I’m not after your money or status. I genuinely like you. Why don’t I have any chance? I’m not trying to sow discord, but Fu Wenshan, he… he’s quite the womanizer and won’t cherish you properly. Whereas I only like you.”

Fu Wenshan’s face darkened suddenly.

How was it possible that, after just half a day, there was another person trying to wedge himself between them? The entertainment industry really had such a lousy atmosphere!

And these current rivals were just shameless. They were willing to say anything to smear him. Were you present at the scene to dare say I’m a womanizer!

Xie Wanxing didn’t notice the extra listener by the door, and almost laughed out loud. He thought it was so unfair. After all, Fu Wenshan’s first kiss was with him. It couldn’t get any purer than that.

But after he finished laughing, he felt a bit troubled again and sighed inwardly.

The young man in front of him was named Lin Xi, a rising star in his prime. Clearly a sunny and handsome young man, his career was taking off, everything was going well for him, but he had to have an unrequited love for him, a semi-married man.

Previously, Zhao Jinghua had mentioned this name to him, saying this kid was determined to be with him, not for money or resources, just because he liked him. But at that time, he had just gotten involved with Fu Wenshan and had no interest in the small fry.

He had thought the young man’s enthusiasm wouldn’t last, but who could have imagined that it had been over two years, and Lin Xi still couldn’t let go, and it was getting more and more absurd.

Lin Xi’s eyes were already red, a tall and young man, now looking like an abandoned puppy, aggrieved and helpless, looking at Xie Wanxing pleadingly.

If it were his fans who saw him like this, they would probably have been heartbroken long ago.

Unfortunately, in front of him was only Xie Wanxing, who was unimpressed and had a heart of stone.

Xie Wanxing insincerely pulled out the “good guy” card, “You’re a good guy, I believe you’ll meet someone better in the future, someone who’s more suitable for you and truly loves you.”

Very insincere, sounded very cliché.

But Lin Xi looked at him, and in his mind appeared the first time he joined the crew. He was clumsy and couldn’t do anything right, but Xie Wanxing handed him chocolates, encouraged him by saying he acted well, earnestly helped him analyze the script, his warm and bright smile hitting his confused and anxious heart.

“I won’t meet anyone better than you,” Lin Xi said softly.

He knew Xie Wanxing’s attitude, but perhaps people were like this; until they had exhausted all possibilities, they wouldn’t give up on the passionate love of their youth, requiring it to be brought to light to be content.

But soon, he heard Xie Wanxing say, “But for me, Fu Wenshan is the best person.”

This sentence left no room for ambiguity. There was no ‘perhaps in another life’ or ‘maybe if things were different’. For Xie Wanxing, the person he chose was the person he liked the most.

Someone clapped their hands by the door. Xie Wanxing and Lin Xi were both startled and looked towards the door, only to find the person they were talking about was leaning against the door, not knowing how long they had been listening to their conversation.

Xie Wanxing: “……….”

Fu Wenshan walked over. In just a few steps, he went from the shadow to the light. Lin Xi thought he was tall enough, but when Fu Wenshan stood in front of him, he realized that the other person was even taller by half a head.

And Fu Wenshan’s eyes were locked onto him like an eagle, full of oppression but also a hint of disdain, as if mocking his audacity.

Lin Xi’s nerves tightened instantly. He glared back defiantly, but his momentum was no longer as strong, resembling a little wolf challenging the alpha after just being weaned.

But Fu Wenshan wasn’t prepared to do anything to him, nor was he particularly angry. He had seen plenty of such rivals, there were a thousand of them, he couldn’t possibly deal with each one of them.

He  just casually, reached into his collar and pulled out a necklace. Hanging from the necklace was a ring, which he took off and put on his ring finger. He acted arrogantly, yet nonchalantly said, “You may not know, but Xie Wanxing proposed to me just a month ago. You’re welcome to attend our wedding. I’ll save you a front-row seat.”

Xie Wanxing silently covered his face, momentarily not wanting to admit that the person next to him was his fiancé.

But Lin Xi was effectively struck by the statement.

He was okay with the proposal, but surprisingly, it was Xie Wanxing who took the initiative!

His handsome face turned pale in an instant. Seeing Xie Wanxing’s lack of denial, he finally walked away, feeling completely defeated.

From that day on, Fu Wenshan never took off the ring on his hand again. Regardless of whether it was low-key or not, he wanted the whole world to know that Xie Wanxing was his.

But the entertainment reporters really wanted to dig some wedding gossip from him, yet he maintained a cold and uncooperative attitude, refusing to cooperate.

The marketing accounts had to find their own scoop, revisiting the two years of rumors surrounding Xie Wanxing and Fu Wenshan, making a compilation. Both of them were solid gold thighs in the entertainment industry, attracting numerous parasites looking for fame. Comparatively, amidst this messy list of scandals, the two of them shone like diamonds, considered a breath of fresh air. Fans could accept this much better than them getting involved with gold-digging leeches.

In the blink of an eye, it was September.

The wedding venue was chosen on Fu Wenshan’s private island, which was his coming-of-age gift at eighteen. Now, he was there with his beloved, becoming legal partners in the presence of family and friends.

Xie Wanxing’s two childhood friends specially flew back from abroad to attend the wedding. It was the first time Fu Wenshan met Xie Wanxing’s former fiancée, a very spirited and beautiful girl. Before Fu Wenshan’s old jealousy could bubble up, he heard the girl say to Xie Wanxing, “Your wedding layout is really nice. When me and Baixi get married in the future, we can refer to it.”

Fu Wenshan’s heart settled back down. Good, she was already taken, nothing to worry about.

Because they were both grooms, they walked down the red carpet together. Xie Wanxing wore a white suit while Fu Wenshan wore all black. They walked hand in hand from the flower bridge, both tall and slim, one flamboyant and radiant, the other handsome and proud. Although there were no overly intimate gestures, just standing together made them seem perfectly matched.

They reached the officiant together and stood under the flower arch, pledging to be partners.

Fu Wenshan had thought he would be too excited to speak, but as he looked at Xie Wanxing’s smiling face, his heart felt softer and calmer than ever before.

He heard the officiant ask him if he was willing to make Xie Wanxing his partner, through poverty and wealth, health and sickness, never to leave him.

“I do.”

He was willing to love his partner forever, till death do them part.

He leaned down to kiss his groom, and the cheers and applause around them startled the birds in the jungle.

Xie Wanxing’s ears turned red, but he didn’t push Fu Wenshan away; instead, he reached out and hugged his neck.

In the bright and warm sunlight, he felt the strong, silent love in Fu Wenshan’s heartbeat.

He closed his eyes.

He would forever cherish this summer.
