“Earlier, instead of asking if I got a girlfriend, you should have asked if I cheated.”
Seo Kangwoo, while saying they didn’t need to be lovers, actually showed signs of possessiveness.
“Understand?”
“Yeah.”
Heewoon nodded. Kangwoo was not unwilling for them to be lovers.
Then, it happened. There was a sound in the corridor. Startled, Heewoon grabbed Kangwoo’s shirt and, as if hiding, slipped into Kangwoo’s arms. Thoughts alternated between Kangwoo not being the right person to hide with and him being the most appropriate person.
You’re so full of fear, but why do you only follow me to places like this? Kangwoo chuckled softly, petting Heewoon’s back calmly.
“Next time when you follow me, let me know in advance. I’ll open the door and make a place for you to hide, Sunbae.”
Kangwoo spoke affectionately. Heewoon thought he wouldn’t ever follow Kangwoo again, and he said.
“If I tell you beforehand, that wouldn’t be following in secret.”
“Hmmm, is that so? I’ll have to find another way then. If things go wrong, Sunbae might become in danger.”
Danger. Heewoon was reminded of the axe,
“Ah… I’ll tell you in advance.”
“Okay, you do that.”
Kangwoo pressed his lips onto Heewoon’s forehead. Then he suddenly chuckled. The clearly visible Adam’s apple was moving as if it was dancing.
“Ah, Woo Heewoon…”
Heewoon’s name was called with a mix of laughter. It had an unusually sweet resonance.
Kangwoo embraced Heewoon tight, patting his back and repeatedly kissing the side of his head. Heewoon, feeling the tension in his body release, rested his chin on Kangwoo’s shoulder.
Then, when his gaze lowered, he discovered a dark red stain on the hem of Kangwoo’s shirt. Sharp images of the earlier scene flashed in his mind. Heewoon wondered what happened to that man?
“Since you’re already here, how about we go for a drive and then head back?”
A gentle voice interrupted his thoughts. Heewoon blinked his eyes a couple of times. The stain was still there.
“Yeah.”
Heewoon put his cheek on Kangwoo’s shoulder. He deeply inhaled Kangwoo’s scent. All he could see was the smoothly lifted corner of his mouth. The heartbeat that had been racing anxiously slowed down a bit.
“Anything else you want to do?”
And soon, it became a pleasant throb.
***
With each step Heewoon took, it felt like his heart was touching the ground. Although he had been to Jeju Island, this was his first time abroad. And to top it off, they took the first class.
Unlike the slow line students had to form during his high school field trip, the two of them were promptly guided to their seats. Heewoon sat down hesitantly. It was as spacious as a room. The lounge was fascinating, but this seat was even more so.
Heewoon stared out the window only as the plane took off, then turned his head away as it settled. Following Kangwoo’s choice, his drink was champagne.
The fact that the in-flight meal came as a course, the provision of sleepwear, and the existence of a closet – everything was fascinating.
Kangwoo smirked as he watched Heewoon exploring everything. When Heewoon turned his head, and their eyes met, Kangwoo smiled gently. Heewoon nibbled on his lips before saying,
“Kangwoo, can you close this once?”
He referred to the partition that could separate the seats.
“…Sure.”
The happy face sparkled. Kangwoo looked at the rising partition and let out a dry laugh. As soon as the partition descended, he quickly reached out, cupping Heewoon’s cheeks and kissed him lightly on the lips. Heewoon widened his eyes and glanced around.
Kangwoo kissed him often. When Heewoon took photos of the in-flight meal, when he scrutinized the sauce bottle, when he exclaimed after eating, and when he was fully dressed in socks, slippers, and sleepwear.
“Do you know that it’ll be morning when we arrive?”
Observing Heewoon, who didn’t seem to want to sleep, Kangwoo asked. Kangwoo looked very relaxed as he lay on the seat. Even though Heewoon was full, he had eaten everything, while Kangwoo barely touched anything, only sipping wine. Heewoon suddenly felt a bit embarrassed, but he didn’t want to suppress his excitement. After a few more experiences of this, Heewoon thought he might enjoy everything as comfortably as Kangwoo, so he wanted to savor this moment.
“It’s okay.”
He hadn’t pulled an all-nighter recently, but it used to be a common occurrence. Thinking he might get too noisy, Heewoon tried to raise the partition, but Kangwoo stopped him. “Leave it as it is,” Kangwoo emphasized and lay down. It seemed like he fell asleep quickly.
A while later, Heewoon ate ramen. Ramen eaten in the sky seemed to have a slightly different taste. It even tasted more delicious than the course meal he had earlier. Maybe because of the scent of the ramen, Kangwoo lazily sat up.
“Am I noisy?”
“No.”
Watching Heewoon stop his movement with chopsticks in his hand, Kangwoo reached out. Heewoon stared at Kangwoo’s smiling face with half-closed eyes. Kangwoo’s large hand ruffled Heewoon’s hair and then moved away.
Kangwoo fell asleep again, and Heewoon ate other snacks. Drinking more wine and beer, he also visited the restroom several times.
When the lights brightened and Kangwoo woke up, Heewoon was watching a movie. He hadn’t slept at all.
“Aren’t you tired?”
“Nah.”
It was true. He wasn’t tired at all.
Even when riding in the open car, when arriving at the luxurious villa, or when playing in the swimming pool.
Although Kangwoo suggested resting at the accommodation until before dinner because Heewoon might be tired, Heewoon didn’t rest. While Kangwoo lay on a sunbed reading a book, Heewoon swam and played.
“You’re so excited.”
Kangwoo put down his book, squinting his eyes. He noticed Heewoon’s legs that had been stretched out due to swimming. He could see those thin ankles and rounded toes. Mmm. He let out a low sound and pulled himself up.
Kangwoo’s feet stepped on the wetness that had flowed out of the pool. He slowly walked into the swimming pool where Heewoon had been playing alone for over an hour.
Heewoon didn’t notice Kangwoo entering and was still enjoying swimming. He swam freestyle at first, but since earlier he had been doing several laps of breaststroke.
Kangwoo thought it was surprising that Heewoon was good at swimming. It was so unexpected that he could have watched Heewoon swim all day.
Water splashed forcefully, fair arms rose above the transparent surface, and slender ankles moved at a constant speed. After circling a few times, Heewoon stopped, took a breath, and made a refreshing expression. Kangwoo wanted to keep watching those things.
Actually, Kangwoo hadn’t been able to read the book properly. After reading a line or two, his gaze would unconsciously linger on Heewoon.
Splash, splash.
From the far end, Heewoon approached with a breaststroke. Kangwoo stood still, watching as the small head approached.
Finally, Heewoon’s head bumped into Kangwoo’s chest.
The gentle current covered Heewoon’s face. Heewoon closed his eyes tightly, then stood up, splashing water on his face. He must have thought he had hit the pool wall.
“Oh. It’s you… Ooomph!”
Kangwoo pulled Heewoon’s waist closer and kissed him. Heewoon’s toes, floating at the bottom, slowly descended onto Kangwoo’s feet.
The hand that had been groping Heewoon’s waist boldly went inside his swim trunks. Feeling the cold water that had come with them, Heewoon embraced Kangwoo’s neck.
“Uh, oh, h-here?”
