Chapter 59: The Most Trusted is Still Senior Can
“Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo.” I stared at him, my heartbeat accelerating. I believed that at this moment, if he succumbed to his heightened bloodlust and tried to bite me, my Mo Ming would surely bite him to death.
He also sensed something and blinked awkwardly, withdrawing his hand and standing up straight, not looking at me as he said, “You must be sick.”
Phew… I secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Jiang Yan’s self-control is still good. However, it also served as a wake-up call for me. He too has limits to his patience.
Living with a vampire, I did some research on my phone. Bloodsuckers have an extreme sensitivity to human blood. They can hear the pulsing of a human heartbeat. For example, right now, with my illness causing my pulse to race, to them, it’s like having a sumptuous feast placed right in front of them.
Similarly, they can feel the flow speed of human blood, and the faster the flow, the more tempting it is for them. If the skin is broken and blood spills out, it would be even more irresistible for them. It’s like when we humans skip a few meals and then enter a buffet at night, our animalistic instincts take over.
Blood is their food, so their craving for it is instinctual.
It’s the same as our human craving for food.
So, for me right now, I am “delicious” to Jiang Yan tens of times more than usual, or even beyond his limits of patience.
“I’ll take her to see a doctor.” Mo Ming said as he was about to pick me up, but Jiang Yan stopped him. “No use, she’s a mortal. Immortal pills won’t work. Don’t you remember? Even the doctor said she’s the most difficult to treat, and that means using human medicine to cure her.”
“What should we do then?” Mo Ming lowered his face anxiously, his two furry ears drooping, and the ear stud on top of them getting covered by his silver-gray hair.
“Snap!” Jiang Yan snapped his fingers, calmly holding a blood bag and saying, “Based on my observation, she seems to have caught a cold. Just a box of Tylenol should do the trick.”
“But… we’re under lockdown…” Si Yino hugged the white snake, looking at him timidly. Jiang Yan glanced at Si Yino, and suddenly reached out and grabbed Xiao Bai, placing it on my forehead.
Instantly, the cool sensation brought me much relief.
“Xiao Bai…” Si Yino looked dumbfounded at Xiao Bai resting on my forehead, patting his shoulder gently. “This will make her feel better. Let’s think of who can go down to Earth to buy medicine.”
“Only… Wang Dian…” Si Yino looked at Mo Ming, who nodded in agreement. Immediately, a person came to mind for me. I struggled to say, “Can… Can… Jiang Yan… Senior Yan… cough, cough…”
Mo Ming’s expression froze, and he sat silently by my bedside.
Jiang Yan chuckled. “That’s right, Feng Lingcan. He has always taken care of Xiao Lan. Call him quickly.” Jiang Yan looked at Mo Ming.
Mo Ming snapped back to reality and took out his phone, leaving a message-like voice. “Can, Xiao Lan is sick and needs Tylenol.”
“Hoo, hoo, hoo, hoo…” I continued to struggle to breathe, while Si Yino stood sadly by my side, his long bangs covering one of his eyes.
After a moment, Mo Ming’s phone rang, and Feng Ling Can’s voice came through. “Understood.”
I breathed a sigh of relief. Feng Ling Can senior is still the most reliable.
Mo Ming lowered his head and didn’t speak anymore. His expression seemed as if he had been struck by something.
“Hoo…” Jiang Yan took a deep breath. “I need to go out for some fresh air. You all take care of Xiao Lan.” After saying that, Senior Jiang Yan left. I knew that I had made him uncomfortable by making him endure. Vampires can smell the scent of human blood through our skin, especially when our blood is rushing and our hearts are beating faster. The smell of blood becomes even stronger, constantly stimulating their bloodlust.
I was wrong. I shouldn’t have gotten sick and made Senior Jiang Yan suffer even more. Although I also read on my phone that the sense of smell of vampires with long-term malnutrition becomes dull, just like their physical strength.
Senior Jiang Yan has been sleeping a lot lately, and it’s because of me.
I should express my gratitude to him, for always taking care of me, tolerating me, and helping me.
“Cough, cough…” I coughed uncomfortably, wanting to ask about Mao Mao, but I didn’t have the energy. She hasn’t shown up this whole time, probably still unconscious as if dead. She hasn’t woken up yet.
“Mortals are so fragile.” Mo Ming suddenly said, kneeling straight by my bedside, looking at me with a gaze as if witnessing the end of life. Damn it! I just have a cold! Don’t look at me with that sigh-of-life-and-death expression!
“People… can die…” Si Yino slightly curled his body, standing by Mo Ming’s side, also looking at me with a gaze as if life is about to wither away.
Damn it! You two are enough! Are you done or not! Don’t look at me with that funeral-like expression!
“Ah~~ I hate being sick, otherwise this palace would definitely jump up and chase after them to beat them!”
Xiao Bai turned over on my forehead and pressed his cool side against my forehead again. Xiao Bai is truly understanding! I’ve decided that once I get better, I’ll buy it a bunch of beef jerky!
I remember hearing that you can use Taobao in the Immortal Realm. It’s only now that I realize Xiao Bai doesn’t actually have scales! Snakes have scales, but Xiao Bai is smooth and soft like a big ball of dough. Xiao Bai… could it be… is it really a big bug!
“Knock, knock, knock.” A soft knocking sound came, and Mo Ming and Si Yino looked over. Si Yino’s face showed excitement as if he had seen a savior, but Mo Ming turned his face and stared expressionlessly at the wall.
“Senior Can… Senior Can!” Si Yino looked happily towards the door. I heard his call, and my heart felt much calmer. Then, I saw Feng Ling Can hurriedly come in, bending down to look at me with concern. “Why are you so severely ill? The Immortal Realm has immortal energy, so you shouldn’t catch a cold. Did you let the house cool down for your room last night?”
I looked at his sunny and warm face in a dazed manner. “I… I don’t remember… but, but it was hot when I was drunk, so maybe… cough, cough…”
“Don’t talk, take your medicine first.” He immediately reached out to help me up, and Mo Ming focused his gaze on him, not moving an inch, watching as Feng Ling Can helped me up, placed a pillow behind me, and then took out the medicine.
“I’ll go get some water…” Si Yino ran out.
Feng Ling Can took out Tylenol and placed it in front of me. I took it with discomfort, and when Si Yino brought the water, I swallowed it down. When Feng Ling Can moved to support me, I stopped him. “I can do it myself.” I lay down on my own, looking at him. “Feng Ling Can, senior…”
“What else do you need?” He looked at me seriously.
I thought for a moment before looking at him again. “Can you… please don’t leave for now…”
Mo Ming immediately looked at me, and a flicker of light danced in his emerald green eyes.
