Chapter 24: The Infuriating Jiang Yan-senpai

“But this shows that they are more honest than humans. Good or evil, divine or demonic, it’s all me,” Jiang Yan-senpai said again.

I shrugged, puzzled. “Then why wear a mask and change their voice?”

“Because there are some things that haven’t been completed. Don’t worry~~ they’ll show their faces~~ as soon as the time is right.”

“Eh? Shouldn’t we expose them earlier? Can we really just let this happen? Isn’t it our job to stop crimes before they happen?” Why does Jiang Yan-senpai sound so nonchalant? Or am I just being overly concerned, like a typical human? Somehow, the cracks in the Demon Realm seem as terrifying as uncontrollable rifts.

“Relax~~~ They’ve tried to destroy the world many times, but they’ve never succeeded~~~ It’s like a woman’s monthly cycle. When the time comes, it always happens. If you live long enough, you get used to it~~~” Jiang Yan-senpai spoke as if he’d been alive for thousands of years.

“…” That analogy left me speechless. “Jiang Yan-senpai, how old are you…?”

“Guess?”

I knew it. He was going to say that.

I gave up immediately. “No idea.”

“Come on~~ take a guess~~”

“Jiang Yan-senpai! Do you really think it’s appropriate to act cute with me?!”

“Otherwise, life’s too boring,” he said, bending down to smile at me from one side.

I turned my face away, propping my head on one hand. “You immortals must be so bored. We humans don’t even have enough time with a hundred years! Just thinking about it makes me frustrated…”

He fell silent, stood up straight, and quietly pushed the wheelchair behind me, saying nothing more.

When we returned to the cabin, before we even opened the door, a flash of silver-gray shot out. It was Mo Ming who had returned first.

“Xiao Lan!” He rushed out the door, followed by Maomao, Qingming, and Si Yinuo. Mo Ming froze in shock when he saw me sitting in the wheelchair, his emerald eyes filled with worry. He seemed so concerned that he forgot to move.

He stood there in front of me, completely dumbfounded, like his mind had short-circuited.

“Jiang, Jiang Yan-senpai!” A loud exclamation came from Maomao. She was so surprised that her voice became sharp. Qingming and Si Yinuo also looked at Jiang Yan behind me in shock. Si Yinuo, holding Xiaobai, slowly lowered his head, his silver eyes glinting coldly beneath his long, white bangs. “You… bit Xiao Lan…”

Immediately, Mo Ming snapped out of his daze, his emerald eyes narrowing like sharp arrows aimed at Jiang Yan. The next moment, with a “whoosh!” sound, he disappeared from in front of me. Before I could stop him, both he and Jiang Yan were already at the wall near the door, just like when Xuanyuan Chen had choked me. Mo Ming had Jiang Yan by the throat!

“You dare bite my master! I’ll tear you apart!” Mo Ming’s right hand flashed with a cold light, his claws already lunging toward Jiang Yan.

“Stop!” I stood up in shock, but Jiang Yan disappeared from Mo Ming’s grip in an instant. When I looked around in confusion, I saw everyone’s eyes turned upwards. Mo Ming had already spun around, narrowing his eyes as he raised his face toward the sky.

I lifted my face as well, and there was Jiang Yan-senpai, casually floating in mid-air, even sitting in a relaxed pose with one leg crossed over the other. Instantly, the elegance of a Western vampire radiated from him. He smiled at Mo Ming. “Physically, I did bite Xiao Lan, but psychologically, I was forced to.”

What the hell! That’s as irresponsible as saying, “Physically, I slept with her, but psychologically, I was forced to.”

“So that’s your excuse for not taking responsibility?” Mo Ming said coldly. “I should have torn you apart from the beginning!” With that, Mo Ming’s claws flashed as he prepared to leap toward Jiang Yan.

Suddenly, Maomao hugged Mo Ming. “Brother! Calm down! Jiang Yan-senpai must have had a reason! Otherwise, he would’ve bitten her earlier!”

Mo Ming’s emerald eyes grew darker. “You’ve fallen under his charm. No matter. I’ll just shred this pretty boy now.”

Pfft! Pretty boy?!

However, Jiang Yan-senpai didn’t seem bothered, maintaining his calm, senpai-like demeanor.

“Enough!” I finally couldn’t take it anymore. “This is complicated. He really didn’t do it on purpose.”

When I finished speaking, Mo Ming looked at me in surprise. Qingming nodded in belief, while Si Yinuo glanced darkly at Jiang Yan floating in the air.

Jiang Yan slowly descended to the ground, adjusted his shirt, and once again revealed his tired look by clutching his chest. “Ah… I’m exhausted. I’m a bit drunk on blood and need to sleep for a while.” He raised his hand to his forehead again, striking a dramatic pose with his head tilted at a 45-degree angle, looking annoyingly fragile! He had just had a feast, so why was he pretending to be weak?!

“Get lost!” I didn’t hesitate to throw that word at him.

He stiffened for a moment, shrugged, and looked at me. Immediately, Mo Ming flashed in front of me, his face full of vigilance as he stared at Jiang Yan, who smiled slightly. “I suggest we go inside to discuss this.”

I agreed with that, so everyone nodded and quickly entered the house. Once inside, they looked around and immediately shut the door.

Everyone sat on the sofas, but all eyes were on Jiang Yan, who was isolated on a single sofa, like a criminal awaiting trial.

Jiang Yan glanced at the group’s hostile stance, chuckled, and leaned back comfortably, looking completely at ease.

“Jiang Yan! From this moment on, you are absolutely forbidden from getting near my Xiao Lan!” Mo Ming loudly and seriously warned, “Otherwise!”

“Claws!” He extended his claws again!

But someone remained completely unaffected by Mo Ming’s murderous intent, staring at Jiang Yan in a daze. It was Maomao. “Jiang Yan-senpai… you’re so handsome when you’ve had your fill of human blood!”

Mo Ming froze, frowning and squinting at Maomao, clearly trying to use his murderous aura to warn his sister. But Maomao didn’t care at all, continuing to admire Jiang Yan.

Jiang Yan raised a hand and rubbed his forehead. “Ah~ that’s exactly what troubles me…”

I twitched. “Mo Ming, hit him!”

“That’s a given!”

“Wait!” Maomao quickly stood in front of Jiang Yan and pulled out her phone. “Before you guys hit him, let me take a picture first. I doubt he’ll get to drink blood again anytime soon, and he’ll turn back into the Grey Prince soon.”

“Actually, I have some in reserve.” Jiang Yan even poked his head out to explain.

“Rip him apart!” I yelled.

Mo Ming immediately jumped up!

Jiang Yan leisurely said, “Mo Ming, don’t you want to know how your master got hurt?”

Mo Ming froze mid-air, then landed, turning around in shock to look at me. “Xiao Lan, you’re injured?!”

Maomao, Si Yinuo, and Qingming also looked at me in concern. “Where are you hurt?” Maomao immediately sat beside me, checking my injuries.

“Doctor Lian already healed me~~” Jiang Yan’s words once again drew everyone’s attention back to him. He looked seriously at Mo Ming. “Mo Ming, Xiao Lan’s abilities are no longer just about existing in two worlds. She can even bring things back from there.”

As soon as Jiang Yan said that, everyone’s eyes widened in surprise. Mo Ming’s emerald eyes flickered as he immediately turned to me. “You saved Feng Lingcan! The blood on the Oriental Pearl Tower was yours!”

I covered my head. “If I had known that getting hurt there would affect me here too, I would’ve never tried to be brave…”

“Where are you hurt?!” He urgently grabbed my shoulder, making me wince in pain. “Ouch, ouch…” I touched my shoulder, and he quickly withdrew his hand, looking a bit remorseful. “Sorry.”

Jiang Yan continued to scan the group. “From this moment on, our cabin must enter a protective state. We have to protect Xiao Lan and guard her secret!”

“Yes!” Qingming was the first to nod.

Si Yinuo, holding Xiaobai, also looked at Jiang Yan seriously. “So… you broke your oath?”

Jiang Yan rubbed his forehead again. “Don’t bring it up. I regret it… At that moment, her blood sprayed into my mouth, and I just couldn’t…” He clutched the front of his shirt. Damn, he was acting like it was so painful! His expression made it seem like I had assaulted him!

His voice began to choke. “Besides, Xuanyuan Chen and the others are returning soon. It’s my fault… my fault for being hungry… I couldn’t carry her…”

My hands itched. I really wanted to hit him! Jiang Yan-senpai! Does your mom know how much you love to act?!

“I had no choice… I had to get her out of there quickly… so I just…”

“Go die!” I couldn’t take it anymore and threw a cushion at him. Mo Ming, seeing this, took the opportunity to throw one too. Then, Si Yinuo joined in the chaos and threw his as well. Qingming hesitated for a moment, then grabbed an entire sofa cushion and hurled it!

“I’m in too!”

==!!! Of course, Maomao, who loves joining in on the fun, wasn’t going to miss out…

*Bam bam bam bam*

And so… Jiang Yan-senpai… was buried under a pile of cushions, along with… an entire sofa cushion…

“Whoosh!” Mo Ming picked up the entire sofa, and in an instant, everyone stared in shock as he calmly placed the sofa back down, patted it, and said, “Furniture needs to be rearranged now and then.” With that, he stiffly walked toward the second floor.

Everyone quietly let out a sigh of relief, completely ignoring Jiang Yan-senpai under the cushions, and returned to their rooms, each finding their own bed.

Lying in bed, I kept thinking about what Jiang Yan-senpai had said in the bamboo forest. From the way he talked, the villains were most likely members of an ancient family. But the main members of the ancient families in the Immortal Domain… weren’t they all people from the royal palace?

“I declare, you are not allowed to get close to Jiang Yan!” Mo Ming, sitting in a formal seiza position like a Han ethnic person, declared beside my bed. His silver-gray silk pajamas looked like part of his fur.

“I know, I know~~” I responded absentmindedly.

“Good! I’ve decided. We’ll make a contract immediately!” He said, standing up and climbing onto my bed. I jumped up in shock, hurriedly pushing against his chest. His hot chest felt like it was burning my hands.

“You—you—you—what are you doing?!”

“Making a contract!” He pulled back and sat in seiza again, staring seriously at me with his emerald eyes.

“Then why are you climbing into my bed?” I sat up, eyeing him warily.

He looked at me with unusual seriousness and said matter-of-factly, “It’s part of the process!”

“Process?! What process?!” I started to panic, my brain cells exploding. I’ve seen enough anime to know that forming contracts with fox spirits often involves kissing! And with wolves, it even involves climbing into bed!

He remained calm and said, “We sleep together!”

“To hell with you!! How dare you say that so casually!” I jumped out of bed, furious, and suddenly felt dizzy from anemia again.
