GCLA VOL. 2 48

Chapter 48: The First Summoning

“Hmm~~~ Isn’t that the God of Light?” Li Chao stroked his chin, examining the images in front of me with a sarcastic expression, as if watching a movie. “Oh! I know this one! It’s Mo Ming. Hmph, I fought him to a draw before. Tsk…I’m still not convinced. Why are we both wolves, but he’s a God and I’m a Yao?”

What? He fought Mo Ming to a draw! That meant he was strong!

But it also meant that if our whole team were here, we could defeat him! Especially after Jiang Yan had his fill of blood!

But!

These guys couldn’t come啊啊啊啊啊啊~~~

Fu Su, you plagiarized my idea!

Plagiarism is shameful!

And, you’re so arrogant, why did you need to copy me? How could you change the script without considering the writer’s feelings?!

Sigh…facepalm. Ultimately, it was my fault, Xia Xiaolan’s stupidity, for underestimating the enemy. It turned out Fu Su was not arrogant at all when he got serious. He was a proper, capable leader, except for the plagiarism part.

He must have copied my dirty trick. I trusted my judgment. Given his personality, he wouldn’t have thought of having someone hold back my team members to create a crisis for me.

Hmm…how did he know my original plan?

It was probably him…

“It seems they’re all busy. No one’s coming to save you.” Li Chao smiled wickedly and took a step towards me. I stepped back. He narrowed his eyes and started to look me up and down inappropriately. “I was wondering why you look so much prettier after a few months. It’s because you’ve absorbed immortal energy. Since the Immortal Realm has abandoned you, why not…come into my arms~~” He lunged at me. I calmly stood my ground, not dodging!

The moment his hands gripped my shoulders, a scream pierced the air. “Ah—” He jumped back, looking at his bloodied hands. Killing intent surged from him as he glared at me. “What are you wearing?!”

“Hmph…I have thorns~~” I narrowed my eyes. “Even the God-Demon offspring of the Immortal Realm wouldn’t dare touch me!” I slowly raised my right hand and gave him a magnificent middle finger. “Guardian! Activate!” The shield enveloped me again. I looked at him coldly. “I may not be able to defeat you, but I’ll hold you off until my teammates arrive!”

“You?!” He widened his fierce eyes, raised his head, and inhaled deeply. “The moon…is full…Today is a good day for transformation. Awooo—————” A long howl erupted from his throat as pale moonlight shone on him like a spotlight. His body began to swell, a transformation even greater than before.

Previously, he had only changed into a wolf form, his clothes remaining intact. But now, his body burst out of his clothes, his massive form ripping them apart. His black fur stood on end like needles in the moonlight!

“Ah—Ah—” Screams echoed from the corridor. It was the security guards. They ran away in terror. Li Chao leaped up, stomped on the glass, crushing a security guard beneath his foot. Blood splattered everywhere. My mind went…blank…

No one had ever died during my missions until now!

I had even taken it for granted that no one would die, because these were Immortal Realm tasks, like quests in a game. No one would die. Everyone would be protected by barriers, there would be no blood, no screams, no deaths.

But now, all I saw was the bright red blood splattered on the glass. My whole body trembled, from fear, from rage. Someone had really died!

I was responsible. It was my fault!

If I hadn’t come here, if Li Chao hadn’t discovered me and transformed, no one would have died!

“Ahahahaha—” His rough laughter roared from his throat. He turned and opened his wolfish jaws at me, his sharp teeth gleaming like steel knives in the moonlight. “Your turn—”

He walked towards me, step by step, leaving bloody footprints on the ground. He stepped into the hot spring again, and the blood of the security guard spread from his feet.

“You actually killed someone…” I said, trembling with fear and anger.

I, Xia Xiaolan, had never been afraid of vengeful spirits or demons. But at this moment, I was truly terrified. I had witnessed a living person being crushed to death, blood splattering everywhere, staining the glass red. This was completely different from watching a horror movie!

This was real!

My hands were ice-cold, even though I was standing in the hot spring. I felt a deep chill.

He towered over me, almost two meters tall, his dark figure casting a shadow over me, blocking all the light, enveloping me in his evil, brutal, bloody, and dark aura.

He slowly raised his sharp claws, tracing them across my cheek through the shield. “Yo, old classmate, why are you so pale? Weren’t you quite arrogant just now, saying you had reinforcements? Ha! I don’t think you have any reinforcements at all. How could those arrogant fools in the Immortal Realm care about a mortal like you? How could anyone be your companion? Xia Xiaolan, accept your fate. Why not join me? I promise I won’t kill you, but…” His fingers slowly slid down my shield, making a “sizzle” like a steel knife scraping against glass.

His claws traced my neck, my chest, outside the shield. Lust flickered in his sinister wolf eyes. “You’ll be my woman. And you’ll please me.”

I continued to tremble inside the Eternal Protection shield, even my breathing shaky.

Xia Xiaolan, you have to calm down!

Calm the f*ck down! Do you want to cause another death?!

Only by killing this wolf demon could you save more people! Enough people had died because of him!

Only by killing him could you atone for your reckless mistake!

I took two deep breaths and looked at Li Chao. “Why did you kill him?”

“Because I wanted to.” Li Chao raised his claws. “The Gods kill too, only they do it invisibly. Why don’t you go argue with them?”

“I’m asking why you killed those innocent women!” I shouted at him.

He threw his head back and laughed. “Hahaha—To absorb their yin energy, of course. But…” He bared his wolfish fangs and leaned down. “They were human. Their bodies were too weak. I accidentally sucked them dry. Sigh~~~ Some of them were really beautiful. It’s a shame they died.”

His nonchalant tone infuriated me!

I slowly raised my left hand, the back of my hand facing me. “I really misjudged you. I thought the wolf demon would be really handsome!”

“I am handsome.” He spread his hands. “But I had to hide in the human world, so…I toned down my looks a bit.” He raised a claw and smoothed his mane. “I didn’t expect to be so popular even with my looks toned down.”

“I呸! Let me show you what a truly handsome wolf looks like!” I shouted. “I, Xia Xiaolan, summon the guardian of my contract—”

As I yelled, a magic circle exploded beneath me, the air swirling, the hot spring water spiraling upwards, forming a massive water tornado around me!

Outside the rotating water tornado, Li Chao’s wolf eyes narrowed, his claws gleaming in the moonlight.

A beam of silver light shot from the magic circle towards the full moon. Silver fur fluttered in the moonlight.

I flung out my arm, and the hot spring water crashed down. Mo Ming, in his human form, appeared before me, water droplets clinging to his silver-gray hair like sparkling crystals.

“Mo! Ming!” Li Chao gritted his teeth.

Mo Ming looked up at him indifferently. “Who?”

Li Chao’s eyes widened, his jaw dropping.

I stood behind Mo Ming and poked him. “Uh…he said he fought you to a draw before.”

Mo Ming’s expression remained indifferent as he looked at Li Chao calmly. “I don’t remember.”

“You dare forget me!” Li Chao was enraged. “Then I’ll make you remember me forever—” He lunged at Mo Ming!

Mo Ming turned, scooped me up, and leaped away. Li Chao landed where I had been standing.

Mo Ming gently set me down on the bank. As he turned, a silver flash transformed him into his wolf form, and he pounced on Li Chao!

I looked at the blood-stained glass beside me, my heart trembling again. Fighting back nausea, guilt, self-blame, and fear, I shouted at Mo Ming, “Put up a barrier! Don’t let anyone see!”

Mo Ming leaped, his figure disappearing into the air. The next moment, his afterimages appeared in the north, south, east, and west of the hot spring. Then, a barrier unfolded, expanding until it reached beyond the hot spring!

I quickly climbed onto a decorative rock and saw that the barrier had enveloped the entire hot spring, boundless, as if merging with the night sky.

After the barrier was up, the entire hot spring fell silent, as if even the air had solidified.

“Boom!” Water splashed behind me. I immediately turned around. Mo Ming had been tackled into the water by Li Chao!

I immediately drew my gun and aimed at Li Chao. But just then, a huge wolf claw suddenly emerged from the water, grabbing Li Chao by the neck. The next moment, with a splash, a werewolf the same size as Li Chao rose from the water, the splashing droplets forming a curtain in the night.

Silver hair fluttered in the moonlight. Mo Ming’s earrings gleamed on his erect wolf ears. His fur was smooth and shiny, a uniform color without a single stray hair. Even in his wolf form, he was still handsome enough to make a girl’s heart flutter.

And his green eyes were as clear and bright as pure emeralds.

“Slap!” Mo Ming, now a werewolf, slapped Li Chao across the face. Li Chao went flying, crashing into the glass, which shattered instantly. He lay on the ground, dazed, shaking his head.

Mo Ming stood tall in the hot spring, his massive figure exuding a cold and arrogant aura, the living embodiment of the Wolf God, inspiring awe in all who beheld him.

Mo Ming looked at Li Chao indifferently. “I think I remember now. You’re Hei Zong.”

“Hmph, hmph hmph.” Li Chao slowly stood up, rubbing his wolf face. “You finally remembered. Then, let’s continue our battle from ten years ago!” He swung his arms and charged at Mo Ming again, ferociously!
