Worried about Cheng Ying’s condition, Jiang Hanguang had originally planned to just wash her hands, but the more she did, the more embarrassed she felt.
She had broken out in a sweat during her earlier entanglement with Cheng Ying. Now that it had cooled, it felt uncomfortable sticking to her skin. And, there was also…
Jiang Hanguang glanced at her flushed face in the old mirror, recalling the Alpha’s scorching embrace, kisses, and coquettish pleas.
Hot water streamed over the woman’s delicate skin, and she pressed her lips together tightly.
She had always thought she might never be able to calmly accept such things.
But no one knew better than she how aroused her body had become when Cheng Ying clung to her, needily calling her “Jiejie.”
She had even wanted to cross the barrier of reason and let Cheng Ying touch her as well.
Jiang Hanguang took a quick rinse and left the bathroom. Cheng Ying was still in the same position as when she had entered, hugging the quilt tightly, curled up asleep.
Jiang Hanguang took a quick glance, then immediately squeezed her eyes shut. She fumbled her way over in the dark and used a corner of the quilt to cover the Alpha’s lower body.
Only then did she dare to open her eyes and touch Cheng Ying’s forehead.
By now, the pheromones on Cheng Ying’s body had calmed, the woody scent returning to its usual faintness. Her body was no longer feverish; it seemed the pseudo-heat had ended.
Jiang Hanguang let out a soft sigh of relief and studied her face.
The Alpha’s brows were still furrowed, and her aggrieved expression made her look even younger. Perhaps from hugging the quilt too tightly, a sheen of sweat had formed on her forehead, dampening the stray hairs. Her face was a rosy white.
An inexpressible feeling of tender affection rose in Jiang Hanguang’s heart once more.
The everyday Cheng Ying was wonderful, of course. The Alpha was like the most solid shield, standing behind her, giving her support, confidence, and a partiality she had never received before.
But she was never like this—as fragile as a newborn animal, seeming as if she could only find a sliver of security by nestling in her arms.
In all her life, Jiang Hanguang had never been relied upon like this.
She loved the everyday Cheng Ying, but she was willing to do anything for the Cheng Ying of this moment, just to make her a little happier.
Jiang Hanguang brought out a basin of water and began to wipe Cheng Ying’s face.
The towel, dampened with warm water, brushed against the Alpha’s still-flushed face. It was like wiping a white glutinous rice ball dipped in brown sugar—soft and springy.
In her drowsy sleep, Cheng Ying felt a pleasant coolness on her face. She instinctively nuzzled against the cool sensation, trying to make herself more comfortable.
Then, she heard a faint chuckle by her ear, and it felt as if a cool, gentle hand had reached out to pinch her cheek.
The gentle caress was even more comforting. She wanted to ask the person to pinch her again, but she couldn’t fight the overwhelming drowsiness and reluctantly sank back into sleep.
While Jiang Hanguang was taking care of the unconscious Cheng Ying, the set of 《Little Little Farm》 and the internet had already exploded.
First, on the set. After Cheng Ying left with Jiang Hanguang, Lang Wenxing, who was being lectured by a shoulder-patting Xie Chengcheng, suddenly broke down.
The Alpha, nearly one-point-nine meters tall, plopped down into the river with a splash and began to wail and splash the water like a petulant elementary school student.
While flailing about, he cried, “I don’t believe it! This can’t be real!”
Xie Chengcheng, who got a face full of water, stepped back in disgust and muttered, “How can there be someone in the world more childish than me?”
Lang Wenxing’s agent, Rui Cha, walked up to Zhang Zeyun with a grim expression. “Director Zhang, in this situation, there’s no point in continuing to film, is there?”
Zhang Zeyun glanced at the livestream page and shrugged at him. It was impossible to tell whether it was out of professional ethics or schadenfreude as she said, “The livestream’s popularity is at its peak right now. If I were to shut it down, I’m afraid the audience wouldn’t be happy. Why don’t you go pull Wenxing up first?”
Rui Cha shot her a displeased look, but seeing she had no intention of backing down, he had no choice but to get into the water and pull out his own artist, who had lost all semblance of dignity.
But the moment Lang Wenxing saw him, he became even more agitated. He threw off Rui Cha’s hand and roared, “Didn’t you say Jiang Hanguang was being forced?! Didn’t you say she actually liked me?! You liar! Waaah!”
Just like a child throwing a tantrum on the floor who only gets more worked up when a parent comes to pick them up, it seemed Mr. Lang’s emotional intelligence wasn’t much higher than that of a little brat.
Xie Chengcheng dodged further away again, not forgetting to roast Rui Cha. “It’s one thing for him to be so full of himself, but why are you, a normal adult, coddling him? You can’t spoil children, you know. The more you spoil them, the more shameless they become.”
Rui Cha’s expression grew even darker. He walked up to Lang Wenxing and slapped him across the face. “Have you made enough of a scene? Aren’t you embarrassed enough yet?”
It was clear he was furious; the slap was far from light. A red handprint immediately appeared on Lang Wenxing’s face.
But the slap was surprisingly effective. Lang Wenxing had probably never been treated so roughly before. He clutched his face, staring blankly at his agent, not daring to utter a word or even let the tears in his eyes fall.
Everyone present witnessed this bizarre scene, like a father disciplining his son. For a moment, they all wanted to laugh but didn’t dare. Xie Chengcheng, however, had no such reservations and immediately laughed so hard she plopped right back into the water.
“Hahahahaha! Is that your agent or your dad? Hahahaha!”
Her unending laughter echoed across the entire set. Many crew members covered their mouths and lowered their heads, their shoulders shaking as if they were having convulsions.
Zhang Zeyun’s mouth twitched. She suddenly paused, then pulled her phone out of her pocket.
“President Sun, it’s me.” She paused for a moment, then looked toward the main farmhouse with a complicated expression.
“Understood.”
Hanging up, Zhang Zeyun gestured for the live camera to turn to her. “As you can all see, our livestream has encountered a small incident and will be suspended for a while. We will announce the resumption time on our official Flying Pigeon account. We apologize to all our viewers.”
With that, she reached out and turned off the camera, signaling for the other camera operators to stop filming. Then she clapped her hands and said to Rui Cha, who had just dragged Lang Wenxing ashore, “As you wished, the cameras are off. However, our investor seems quite displeased with the mess your artist has created. They’ve already sent people to discuss terminating your contract. You may have to pay a higher penalty for the breach.”
Without looking at Rui Cha, she turned to the crew behind her. “Everyone, stand by. Don’t wander off.”
Rui Cha’s face was now as grim as it could possibly be. The contract termination fee was stipulated in the contract, so there was a limit to it. But Lang Wenxing’s performance just now had been abysmal. There was no telling how many fans he would lose because of this incident. For Lang Wenxing, that was the truly devastating blow.
At this thought, his anxiety spiked, and his loathing for Jiang Hanguang and Cheng Ying intensified.
It was just shipping a couple, that’s all. He’d done it plenty of times, and even when it didn’t work out, it never ended up in a mess like this.
Why was this Miss Jiang so much more noble than everyone else that she couldn’t even be touched?
A cold sneer touched the corner of Rui Cha’s lips. He tossed Lang Wenxing into a seat for the staff to deal with, then pulled out his phone and began tapping away.
The hashtag #JiangHanguangAngrilyKissesChengYing shot to the top of Flying Pigeon’s trending list at lightning speed. As public opinion erupted, the popularity of 《Little Little Farm》 also reached its peak.
Comment 1: I mean, that “angrily” is really on point…
Comment 2: The moment Miss Jiang leaned in, I let out a scream that must have been eighty decibels. My parents kicked me out. I’m outside running laps and screaming now. I’m fine. I’m about to ascend.
Comment 3: Zhang Zeyun is a genius, she even gave us a close-up! Aaaahhh, they’re both so gorgeous! I’m making a GIF right now to spread across the entire internet. I refuse to let anyone miss out on this divine pairing!
Comment 4: The stream ended right after I joined. What did I miss? Are Jiang Hanguang and Cheng Ying together?
Comment 5: Yes. I’m already imagining them having three kids in two years.
Comment 6: @The commenter above, did you fail math or biology?
Comment 7: Am I the only one who feels uncomfortable about this? Who knows how many Omegas Cheng Ying has messed around with. For all we know, she’s just playing with Jiang Hanguang.
Comment 8: True. Wasn’t she inseparable from Xu Ning before? Then suddenly, nothing. And then she signed Jiang Hanguang. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call her fickle and a user, would it?
Comment 9: Jiang Hanguang isn’t so innocent either, is she? I heard she was kicked out of the Feng family for cheating. Now that she’s finally latched onto another wealthy person, of course she has to try her best to please them.
Comment 10: Ugh, that’s kind of disgusting.
The online comments were initially mixed, with praise even outweighing criticism. After all, while Cheng Ying had a notorious reputation, she had never done anything truly malicious. Plus, she was beautiful, making the “Guang-Ying” ship enjoyable based on looks alone. Not to mention, Jiang Hanguang had a good public image, so for a time, voices of support were rampant.
But after Lang Wenxing’s fans organized several hashtag campaigns, the tide began to turn.
Although some fans, their illusions shattered, quietly departed, a lean camel is still bigger than a horse. Many more die-hard fans remained.
Under the deliberate incitement of influential fan leaders planted by Rui Cha, these fans, filled with a bone-deep hatred for Jiang Hanguang, began to frantically sling mud at her with their keyboards.
From the baseless rumors of infidelity to accusations of being the third party who broke up Cheng Ying and Xu Ning, they spread every piece of dirt on Jiang Hanguang with gritted teeth and absolute conviction.
Although the general public could make their own judgments, they couldn’t withstand the fans’ fervent vows and the deliberate amplification by Lang Wenxing’s team. Soon, Jiang Hanguang was painted as a promiscuous “green tea bitch” who had been kicked out for cheating and had interfered in someone else’s relationship. Cheng Ying’s reputation, unsurprisingly, took another hit. Before, she was just a debauched wastrel who had squandered her mother’s excellent genes; now, the label of “scum” was added to the list.
Cheng Ying had no way of knowing or stopping any of this, but a certain high-intensity, web-surfing artificial intelligence was about to go mad with anxiety.
“Wake up, wake up, Ying! Something big has happened!” In her sleep, Cheng Ying heard a noisy voice circling in her mind. She finally managed to force her eyes open.
She moved her sore, weak body and dazedly rolled over, looking at the brightly lit room.
“What time is it?” she instinctively asked in her mind.
The voice immediately replied, “Three in the afternoon. I’ve been calling you for an hour. What on earth happened to you? If I couldn’t sense you were still alive, I was about to order the robots to storm Longmen City!”
Cheng Ying: “…”
She didn’t respond to Cheng Mantou, because she was now completely awake.
Unfortunately, the memories from her dazed state remained crystal clear in her mind.
Things like, “Right here, sister, touch me.”
Things like crying her eyes out while begging the other person to touch her.
She raised a hand to cover her face in despair. A million thoughts raced through her mind, the most prominent one being:
What a disgraceful creature. I don’t know her.
While Boss Cheng was still wallowing in self-pity, unwilling to accept reality, she heard a woman’s amused voice beside her. “You’re awake?”
Great. Now the aggrieved party had come calling.
Cheng Ying mentally picked up the shattered pieces of her pride from the floor, barely pieced them together, and mustered the courage to lower her hand and sit up. Then, she felt a draft on her lower half.
Her pants weren’t on properly. She had taken them off herself. As for why…
Cheng Ying covered her face again.
It really was so disgraceful.
Watching Cheng Ying’s behavior, Jiang Hanguang knew what she was thinking. She felt both amused and shy. Being thin-skinned, she didn’t have the courage to kick someone while they were down—an act that would be as embarrassing for her as it was for the other party—so she could only ask:
“How are you feeling?”
Cheng Ying lowered her hand again, but this time her face and ears were completely red. She reached up to touch the back of her neck. Jiang Hanguang had already cleaned it and applied a new shielding patch.
After absorbing so much of Jiang Hanguang’s pheromones, her own would inevitably carry the woman’s scent for a short time. This was the only way to prevent the crew from gossiping.
Cheng Ying took a moment to assess herself. Aside from some soreness and weakness in her body, likely an aftereffect of her body overheating, she felt no other discomfort.
She shook her head. “I’m fine. I’m going to take a shower.”
As she said this, she started to get up, but the quilt shifted and she immediately shrank back down.
She huddled completely under the quilt, only half of her crimson face showing as she looked at Jiang Hanguang by the bedside.
“Could you please turn around first?”
Jiang Hanguang had been about to look away even without being asked, but seeing Cheng Ying like this was so adorable that a rare teasing impulse stirred within her.
So, she stood up with a smile. “I’ve already touched everything, and now you won’t let me look?”
Cheng Ying: “…”
Was she being teased?
This was intolerable. Or perhaps it was a case of having nothing left to lose. Cheng Ying decided on the spot to cast aside what little shame she had left.
First, she would deal with this suddenly bold Omega.
Jiang Hanguang saw the look in Cheng Ying’s eyes suddenly turn hostile. Before she could back away, the Alpha shot up and pulled her onto the bed.
Cheng Ying flipped over, pinning the panicked Omega beneath her. Her body hovered just above Jiang Hanguang’s, separated by the quilt, as she asked with a grin.
“Sister wants to see? I don’t mind letting you get a good, clear look.”
The last words were practically ground out, one by one.
They were tinged with the air of a guilty conscience mixed with humiliated rage.
