Her Rose – Chapter 81

Lock On

When Jiang Hanguang woke up the next day, it was already eleven in the morning, but the room was still dark, with only the small lamp on the headboard emitting a faint glow.

She struggled to open her dry eyes. She had been crying almost the entire time last night. She didn’t need to look in a mirror to know her eyes must be too swollen to look at.

Then she heard the light laughter of the person beside her. The Alpha’s warm body moved closer, enveloping her.

“Awake?”

Cheng Ying’s voice was also a bit hoarse, but much better than hers, even sounding energetic.

“Mm…”

Jiang Hanguang responded, shifting her body. As expected, her back was sore and her legs ached. As for the subtle pains elsewhere, they were temporarily ignored because they couldn’t compare to these two areas.

Cheng Ying saw the woman’s delicate eyebrows knit tightly, looking as if she were in unbearable pain.

She immediately patted the woman’s back guiltily, asking gently, “Does it hurt a lot?”

Heaven knew how heartbroken she was when she woke up this morning and saw the bruises all over Jiang Hanguang’s body.

The woman’s eyes were red and swollen from crying, her brows furrowed even in her sleep. Her originally fair, flawless body was covered in overlapping fingerprints and bite marks, looking as if she had been ravaged.

She hadn’t even realized she had used so much force. It was a good thing Jiang Hanguang could endure it; otherwise, slapping her off the bed would have been considered gentle.

She had also been exhausted yesterday. When she was helping Jiang Hanguang wash up and apply medicine, her mind was groggy, and she hadn’t looked closely. It was only then that she truly felt a pang of heartache.

Thinking of this, she subconsciously reached down to feel.

Jiang Hanguang, who had still been very drowsy, suddenly shuddered. She grabbed Cheng Ying’s hand, her eyes wide. “What are you doing?”

Her voice was three parts aggrieved and seven parts terrified, and her sleepiness had completely vanished.

Cheng Ying had simply wanted to check if the medicine was working, but Jiang Hanguang’s reaction added a certain ambiguous flavor to the action.

After all, that place was already… quite intimate.

The two stared at each other. Cheng Ying looked at Jiang Hanguang, her gaze uncontrollably drifting downward. She had torn Jiang Hanguang’s pajamas yesterday. Even if they weren’t torn, after a round on that bed, they were unwearable. She had been so sleepy that she hadn’t even found new clothes for her, simply wrapping her in a bath towel after her bath and carrying her to the guest bedroom.

The bath towel was now nowhere to be found, making the current scene a bit too risqué.

The woman’s slender and graceful body, even covered in marks, was a pleasing sight. Like a flower scattered by a violent storm, it possessed a certain cruel beauty.

Especially when she herself was the storm that had ravaged the flower. Especially since Jiang Hanguang’s entire body now bore the marks she had left, and her body was constantly emitting her scent.

The scents of wood and rose mingled without obstruction, easily stirring the Alpha’s not-yet-fully-satiated desires and reminding her of last night’s memories.

In the darkness, the woman’s whimpers and gasps, tinged with tears; the exquisite, soft, and smooth taste between her lips; and that wondrous feeling at the moment of union, which nearly pulled her soul from her body.

Cheng Ying swallowed, a blush rising on her face—not from shyness, but from desire.

Some things, once tasted, once the flavor is known, can never be given up in this lifetime.

The person opposite her followed her gaze down to herself. Her already rosy cheeks instantly turned so red they looked like they could bleed. With a swish, she wrapped her body in the blanket, leaving only her flushed face exposed.

Not daring to look at Cheng Ying, she curled into a ball and said, a mixture of shame and anger in her voice, “Cheng Ying!”

Unfortunately, she was too ashamed and too tired, so the words sounded more like a petulant complaint than an accusation.

Well, now she couldn’t clear her name even if she jumped into the Yellow River. Cheng Ying raised a hand to cover her hot face.

Although she wasn’t exactly innocent to begin with. Jiang Hanguang was already in this state, and yet she had just been thinking… She couldn’t think about it.

Cheng Ying tried her best to act prim and proper, as if nothing had just happened. She got out of bed, found Jiang Hanguang’s underwear and pajamas in the closet, and, considering the woman’s current physical condition, brazenly asked, “Do you want me to help you get dressed?”

Jiang Hanguang: “…”

The woman didn’t answer, merely giving her what she thought was a fierce glare.

However, as her eyes shifted, her bright pupils were veiled by a faint mist of water, making them look hazy and captivating.

She was clearly on the verge of crying from embarrassment; where was the deterrent force in that?

Cheng Ying immediately and obediently raised her hands in a gesture of pure innocence. “I’ll go check on breakfast. Just call out if you need anything.”

Long after the bedroom door closed, Jiang Hanguang slowly sat up. The blush on her face hadn’t faded, and with a slender, fair hand, she furtively pulled the clothes beside her into the blanket, as if she were a thief.

The place that had been the worst, stinging with pain, now felt cool and refreshed. Cheng Ying must have applied medicine for her last night.

Just thinking about that scene made Jiang Hanguang feel… like she could never face anyone again in this lifetime.

She realized her understanding of Cheng Ying was far from complete. For instance, although she could sense Cheng Ying’s emotional shifts, she didn’t know what caused them.

Just as she didn’t know how, in the chaotic mess of last night, Cheng Ying had remembered to grab a contraceptive injection from the drawer. Just as she didn’t know why Cheng Ying would have that kind of medicine.

It wasn’t that strange, really. After all, the time she had known Cheng Ying was far too short compared to her age.

After changing into her pajamas, Jiang Hanguang held onto the bed and took two careful, slow steps. Aside from her legs being sore and weak, making her walk a bit unsteady, there were no major issues.

She should be grateful for Cheng Ying’s consideration. If that place still hurt as much as it did last night… she definitely wouldn’t have been able to get out of bed.

Jiang Hanguang rubbed her face hard to stop herself from overthinking these random things, then walked to the full-length mirror to examine herself.

The woman in the mirror had red, swollen eyes, yet they held the warmth of spring. Her face was rosy, and she looked like a freshly watered flower, appearing tender and alluring from every angle.

The pajama buttons were done up to the very top, but the raised collar still couldn’t hide the suggestive red marks.

There was even a bite mark on her exposed ankle.

How could she even bite there?

Jiang Hanguang covered her face with her hands. She tried hard to recall how Cheng Ying had managed to nibble there yesterday.

But no matter how hard she thought, aside from her face growing hotter and hotter, she couldn’t remember a single thing.

The bedroom had been pitch-black yesterday. She could only feel the Alpha binding her like an omnipresent and incredibly strong set of chains.

Her body was fiery hot, just like her lips, her tongue, her fingers.

Besides, Jiang Hanguang had already been kissed into a daze before they even got to the main event. Everything that followed was mostly out of instinct, and that drive to settle all accounts.

She only remembered being skillfully pried open like a tightly shut clamshell, and then being… She couldn’t think about it anymore.

But the taste of their union was indeed wonderful. The invasion, the merging, being able to feel the other’s every move, every breath.

As if they were originally one body, and nothing in the world could ever separate them again.

Was this enough?

Jiang Hanguang touched the back of her neck. That was the only place that hadn’t been caressed by her lover.

She still remembered Cheng Ying’s words: Wait a little longer.

Wait for what? She hadn’t had a chance to ask, and even if she had, she probably wouldn’t have gotten an answer.

Jiang Hanguang keenly sensed that it might be related to Cheng Ying’s unusual behavior.

Cheng Ying was hiding some things from her. Perhaps only by knowing them could she truly understand Cheng Ying.

She would find out eventually, because she would wait for the day Cheng Ying was willing to tell her everything.

Before that, all she needed to do was accompany her, and wait.

When Jiang Hanguang walked out of the bedroom, Cheng Ying had already set breakfast on the dining table.

Seeing her come out, the Alpha hurried over to support her.

The implication behind this gesture successfully made Miss Jiang, whose sense of shame had returned to normal, blush again.

She quietly refused, but was cunningly ignored by Boss Cheng, whose thick skin had also returned to normal.

Bright sunlight streamed in through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, shining on the two of them as they enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast.

Jiang Hanguang took small bites of the soft, steamed bread, while Cheng Ying, who had already eaten, propped her chin on her hand and watched her with a smile.

Like a fox that had successfully stolen a treat.

It wasn’t until the person she was staring at blushed and issued a faint protest that she innocently changed her posture and continued to watch.

Everything seemed to be back on track. The gloom in their hearts, like the darkness outside the window, was dispelled by the sunlight.

At this moment, they were both living in happiness.

In the basement of Cheng’s main building, Cheng Liang stared excitedly at the huge screen before him. On the screen were strings of computer language constructed from 0s and 1s.

Behind him stood Cheng Bai, his expression grave and uneasy.

He had ultimately yielded to his son and given him the password for Chaos.

And in that virtual world paved with countless complex circuits…

A young girl opened her eyes and spoke her first human words.

“Target locked—Destroyer: Cheng Ying. Savior: Jiang Hanguang.”

  2. Needed to post you that bit of observation to be able to say thanks a lot yet again on your nice guidelines you have documented above. It is so surprisingly open-handed of people like you to deliver freely exactly what most of us would have advertised for an e-book in order to make some bucks for themselves, most importantly now that you might have tried it if you ever considered necessary. Those pointers as well worked to be a good way to be sure that some people have similar passion just as my personal own to grasp somewhat more in terms of this condition. Certainly there are lots of more fun periods up front for people who see your website.
