HAGLTP Chapter 59

Two people walked down the corridor together, accompanied by three footsteps.

Gently twisting the doorknob.

The door opened.

“Ah————————————” What greeted the two was a loud scream, as if a wailing spirit of a tortured chicken was imprisoned inside the room.

Xiao Lu covered his ears and peered inside, aided by the dim light of the oil lamp.

The master’s bedroom looked solemn and luxurious, with wooden furniture, intricate carvings, and a soft, thick carpet covering the floor. Even the wallpaper was threaded with fine gold.

The source of the screams was not some tortured chicken spirit, but two young men who looked to be around twenty years old—one with curly hair and the other with long legs, dressed in flashy pink leather pants, whom they had seen during dinner.

They were staring at Xiao Lu and his companion, screaming as if they were in utter despair.

Xiao Lu turned to Yueyue with a complicated expression: “Are today’s young people really this inexperienced and playful?”

Clearly, they were young men with everything at their disposal, yet their courage was smaller than that of a chicken.

Yueyue: “…”

He wanted to say no, but unfortunately, he himself was one of those inexperienced and playful types. However, the male god didn’t look that old either; why did he speak in such a tone?

Xiao Lu had already shifted his attention back to the screaming duo and suddenly noticed something was off.

As they screamed, the two were desperately dragging their feet across the floor, seemingly wanting to escape. Yet their butts were firmly planted on the chairs, not moving an inch.

Their hands were clasped together, and in between them, they were vaguely holding a pen.

Xiao Lu understood: “Playing with the pen spirit in a haunted house, quite the choice.”

They were so intent on courting death, yet they weren’t the first to die. It was unclear whether it was Xiao Lu’s bad luck or these two’s good fortune.

At that moment, the screaming duo finally came to their senses and mercifully stopped their cries.

It took them several beats to realize that the two entering the room were not some old ghosts, but fellow guests staying at the inn, out looking for thrills at night.

“Do you mind if we come take a look?” Xiao Lu asked politely.

Perhaps their brains hadn’t caught up yet, the one in pink pants nodded along with his words: “Please… feel free…”

His hand still didn’t dare to let go of the pen.

Xiao Lu and Yueyue entered the room, one after the other.

At the same time, he was fully focused on the movements behind him. The moment they crossed the threshold, the three footsteps turned into two, and the sound behind them vanished.

Xiao Lu scanned the room.

Perhaps this meant they had stepped into another realm of spirits. Xiao Lu speculated that the spirits here must have a clear sense of territory.

Yueyue also noticed the change in sound, his heart racing with excitement.

Indeed, the male god was divine.

Without even seeing how it happened, he had directly driven the spirits away.

He had already begun to brainstorm how to describe this segment in the video script, especially the feat of his male god effortlessly resolving the crisis, which had to be included.

Xiao Lu was unaware that he had already become part of a grand battle against evil spirits. He redirected his attention towards the two still playing with the pen spirit.

At a glance, he understood why the screaming duo was so tense.

The paper was filled with a jumble of phrases: “don’t like,” “will fail,” “wet the bed at three”… and the most frequent, which almost filled the remaining space—“die.”

Even at this moment, the two hadn’t asked any questions, yet the pen in their hands continued to automatically write one “die” after another.

Layer upon layer, as if it were the most vicious curse.

According to horror movie tropes, they had now reached the critical moment when the spirits were about to appear and claim lives.

Both were sweating profusely, their faces pale, expressions pained, yet they tacitly dared not let go.

“What questions did you ask?” Xiao Lu asked with some interest.

The curly-haired one stammered, “We asked, what will happen to us afterwards…”

“Everyone dies eventually; that answer isn’t problematic.”

“But… but… we asked about what will happen after this trip…” the one in pink pants said with a mournful face.

Oh, that was quite serious.

“Don’t worry, the pen spirit didn’t say it would personally kill you tonight,” Xiao Lu reassured the two.

“Really… really?” the curly-haired one asked hopefully, his face pale.

“Why don’t you ask it?”

The two, feeling cornered, actually did ask.

The pen, which had been frantically writing “die,” suddenly stopped, remaining completely still, and the room fell into an eerie silence.

Xiao Lu watched the pen in their hands with great interest. These two had almost written every possible “die,” yet they hadn’t died tonight.

Could it be understood that the pen spirit they summoned wasn’t as vicious as it seemed?

“Ask it what it hopes for you to do?”

This time, the pen tip slowly began to move, writing a large “Get lost.”

The three others, except for Xiao Lu, shuddered in unison.

It told them to get lost, how fierce…

Xiao Lu’s interest grew even more. This was a house where countless people had died; if this spirit harbored malice, it would surely find ways to keep them there, to experience the most tragic and painful death.

But instead, it said, get lost.

It looked fierce, but in reality, it seemed more like a warning for them to stay away from this house.

Xiao Lu looked around again, trying to discover the traces of the spirits within, but unfortunately, he was just an ordinary person with a slight ability to see spirits, and at this moment, he couldn’t see anything.

“Tell it we can’t get out, and ask if it has any way to help us survive.”

“Th-th-th…”

The two holding the pen hesitated. They had just been bombarded with “die” and then told to get lost.

Now they were supposed to go up and ask for guidance on how to survive? That was too unrealistic.

Besides, what did it mean that they couldn’t get out? The door shouldn’t be locked, right…

No, it can’t be…?

The curly-haired one and the one in pink pants raised their heads simultaneously, wanting to confirm whether Xiao Lu was joking. But in the warm glow of the oil lamp, they only saw a face that was cool and ethereal, seemingly untouched by any external matters.

That person was gently gazing at them, showing no signs of annoyance at their doubts.

Facing such a gaze, a sudden sense of guilt arose in their hearts, as if disappointing the other’s expectations was something particularly wrong.

At that moment, Yueyue also bravely approached, her voice sweet as ever: “You should just do as the male god says; he’s a master I specially invited, don’t worry.”

With even a cute girl saying so, the two big boys felt they couldn’t appear too cowardly.

At worst, they would just get another “get lost” thrown at them; they were tough enough to handle it.

But this time, what appeared wasn’t a furious insult—

【Go to the principal’s office】

“Damn! It really answered!” The one in pink pants exclaimed excitedly, almost throwing the pen away.

“Male god! You are my male god for life!!” The curly-haired one praised while also reminding his buddy not to get too carried away.

Xiao Lu wanted to extract more information from the pen spirit, but unfortunately, it no longer provided any useful clues.

The pen tip gradually moved outside the paper, finally completely leaving the surface.

“Phew—” The two boys finally released their now completely sweaty hands, collapsing back into their chairs as if drained of energy.

“I thought we were dead this time…” The curly-haired one rolled his eyes from the shock.

The one in pink pants took a moment to catch his breath, and after calming down a bit, he propped himself up to look at Xiao Lu, wanting to express his gratitude.

Just then, all four of them heard a series of footsteps coming from outside the door.

It sounded like many people were wandering in the corridor, occasionally whispering, but when they listened closely, they couldn’t make out a single word.

The relaxed expressions of the few immediately tensed up again.

So many people.

Did they have this many guests staying this time?

Three pairs of pleading eyes turned in unison towards Xiao Lu. With previous experience, their first reaction to the emergence of a supernatural event was to look for the male god.

Xiao Lu’s gaze fell on the tightly shut door.

The pen spirit had just directed them to the principal’s office, which should refer to the principal’s office from 80 years ago when this building was converted into a school; now, he didn’t even know where it was.

But the more pressing question was, how were they supposed to get out?

After all, he was a fake medium.

“Excuse me, are you thinking about how to get out?” A man’s voice suddenly came from the depths of the room.

A light from an oil lamp flickered on, illuminating a figure that had been hidden in the darkness.

“Teacher Cui?” Yueyue was surprised to see Cui Yunjin in this place.

He glanced at the door that he had previously locked and then at the clearly bewildered curly-haired one and the one in pink pants.

Could it be… this Cui Yunjin wasn’t human! But rather the pen spirit from earlier transformed!

Yueyue was suddenly frightened by his own vivid imagination, his hair standing on end.

He cautiously took a step back, then another, quietly hiding behind Xiao Lu, hoping the male god’s aura could shield him.

Cui Yunjin held the lamp and stepped out of the shadows, wearing a cultured smile.

“I was the first to arrive in the room; when I turned off the light to seek inspiration, you two came in.” At this point, he looked at the curly-haired one and the one in pink pants.

“I found you two quite interesting, so I didn’t speak and just kept watching.”

Finally, he turned his gaze to Xiao Lu: “A very impressive performance.”

There were already three oil lamps in the room. It still wasn’t bright, but it transformed the dim haunted house into a bedroom with a hint of warmth, adding a touch of tenderness to his gaze.

“Male god… is he that, just that…” Yueyue whispered.

“No,” Xiao Lu was certain. Among the four of them, three and a half didn’t have the ability to see spirits. Since everyone could see Cui Yunjin, it meant he was definitely a living person.

“Teacher Cui is quite bold.”

“I’m a writer. Writers are very brave when pursuing inspiration.” As he spoke, Cui Yunjin placed the oil lamp on the table, moving a bit closer to Xiao Lu.

Xiao Lu pointed at the door, which was still echoing with footsteps: “What do you think, Teacher Cui?”

“Well…” Cui Yunjin elongated his tone.

“Do you have a way?” Xiao Lu looked at him.

Cui Yunjin casually adjusted the cuffs of his shirt, and in the movement, faint bruises could be seen on his wrist: “I do know a bit of information; what will you offer in exchange?”

“I thought, at this time, Teacher Cui would be more concerned about his own life.” The instigator, Xiao Lu, raised an eyebrow secretly, feeling a bit uneasy, while still maintaining his ethereal male god appearance.

“Indeed, indeed, the male god is right.”

“It’s so dangerous; we all need to think of a way to survive together.”

“Teacher Cui, please don’t joke with us.”

“Sorry, I’m a very stubborn person; this is also my insistence as a novelist. If I don’t have good inspiration… I’d rather die.” As he said this, Cui Yunjin leaned a bit closer to Xiao Lu, pressing his hand against the edge of the table.

Xiao Lu could now be 100% sure that this guy was seeking revenge for what happened during the day.

What a grudge holder.

The other three had also been influenced by Teacher Cui’s works. They immediately sensed a different kind of suggestive atmosphere from his words compared to ordinary writers.

Cui Yunjin’s inspiration, could it be…

They glanced at the male god, then at Cui Yunjin, who was almost glued to the male god, unsure of what to say.

Xiao Lu stared into the alluring peach blossom eyes that were so close, signaling with his gaze: Are you sure you want to play this big?

Cui Yunjin’s response was an ambiguous smile.

The warm yellow light outlined his silhouette, quietly replacing the faint scholarly aura with a more lingering and ambiguous atmosphere. The long shadows cast by his eyelashes were even more pronounced, almost like a mischievous demon.

The footsteps outside became clearer.

It was as if countless feet were crowded at the door, waiting for the prey that was about to appear.

Cui Yunjin leaned closer to Xiao Lu’s ear, speaking in a volume only the two could hear: “If we die together, and you don’t clear the level, it doesn’t count as me breaking my promise.”

As he spoke, the warm breath brushed against the skin, like an invisible hand caressing him.

Once he finished speaking, he straightened up again, returning to a distance of half an arm’s length from Xiao Lu.

Setting a trap, old fox, cunning.

“Don’t regret it…”

With that, Xiao Lu swiftly reached out, grabbing the perfectly tied tie around Cui Yunjin’s collar, pulling him closer.

Then, taking advantage of the other’s unsteady balance, he heavily pressed his lips against those still smiling.

Rather than a kiss, it was more of a somewhat vengeful bite. The soft, warm lips met sharp teeth, and soon, both tasted a hint of iron rust.

But at this level, neither was willing to back down first.

This overly deep kiss continued, their connected lips growing increasingly heated.

Finally, Cui Yunjin was the first to lift his head, slightly pulling back the distance between them. He leaned into Xiao Lu’s ear: “Hiss—are you trying to eat me?”

His voice was low and husky, with a taste of his own blood lingering on his lips, yet the tone carried a hint of amusement, as if he were a cat that had successfully executed a scheme.

Xiao Lu unceremoniously bit down on the ear that had appeared near his mouth.

His sharp canine teeth pressed against the soft earlobe, causing a bit of pain, while the enveloping lips allowed the warmth of another person to seep into the earlobe without reservation.

With his teeth on the other’s earlobe, Xiao Lu’s voice was slightly muffled: “That’s your honor.”

Cui Yunjin licked the wound on his lip that was still bleeding, his tone filled with satisfaction: “Yes, it’s my honor…”

The three who had inadvertently witnessed the entire scene exchanged flushed glances:

Teacher Cui’s new book must be very exciting.

Buy, buy, buy.

When will pre-sales start??
