BDAW Shimei ss 4

Calm Days

Something is wrong.
After losing the battle with the witch, I managed to escape to the Demon Forest.

The Demon Forest is not a half-baked place.
A large number of magical beasts are crowded together, and even the knights cannot easily step into it.

But I was picked up there and given meticulous care.

. . . and moreover.
Right now, I am being looked after by a white dragon.

Generally speaking, ‘Dragon’ refers to wyvern.
This is the same for the kingdom and the demon country.
The exception is the missionaries of the Holy Church Yesbee that refer to the dragon and call it a dragon, which is probably rooted in the dragon lore they tout.

Dragons are mythical beings.

To give an example, it is said to appear at the end of the world and burn everything down with hellfire, the ‘Fire Dragon of Hellfire’.

A waterfall at the end of the ocean.
The ‘Water Dragon of the Farthest Edge’ is said to live in the big waterfall that drops everything into the abyss.

The ‘Earth Dragon of the Valley’ is said to live in the rifts of the continent and easily cause great earthquakes.

They are all fairy tales.

However, in recent history, there is a dragon whose existence has been confirmed to be the only one.
About 150 years ago, it was said to have brought about as much destruction as possible to the fledgling kingdom, the Black Dragon of Destruction.

This black dragon was killed by the Hero King, Perel, who was the founder of the kingdom.

However, followers of the black dragon fled to the northeast withered land and established the demonic kingdom of Oine.

Since then, no dragons have been seen.

“Gyuru? Guri! (Are you awake? Good morning!)”

The white dragon is peeking at me from the window today as well.
I feel dizzy.
Exactly what the hell is going on. . .

Today, the white dragon brought a village girl.
Did she say her name is Corona?

A girl with jade-colored eyes, with chestnut-colored hair down to her shoulders.
Probably around 20 years old.

That girl.
. . . . To be honest, I only saw her as an ordinary village girl.
Even so, she says she owns a house in the Demon Forest and is taming a white dragon.

Then, could this house, which was hollowed out from a large tree, also be built by that girl?

I don’t think so.
Perhaps she is hiding something.

The white dragon returned with a basket of fish.

Feeding my dragon, Harbiston.
He also seems to be quite fond of the white dragon.

“Gyurururi (I’ll leave it here for Mr. Shimei)”

A river fish was inserted at the entrance.
Mukis.

Some time ago, while eating Mukis, I muttered, ‘This is the best freshwater fish.’
Hearing that soliloquy, the white dragon started catching only this fish from then on.

This guy probably understands human language.
I am impressed that dragons are so clever.

But every day, every day, it’s just Mukis.
It’s true that this river fish is delicious, but if it’s just that. . . it’s boring.
However, I am the one who is being taken care of.
I’m grateful, but I can’t say it’s luxurious.

I took the flint out of my bag and lit the furnace.
Scrape off the scales of the received Mukis with a knife and prepare it.
After shaking rock salt, both sides were grilled over an open flame.

“. . . . . . Hmm?”

When I felt a gaze and raised my face, the white dragon was looking at me from the window.
It is staring at the hand that is preparing the food.

“. . . is it fun to watch something like this?”

The white dragon nods repeatedly.
I see.
Is it fun. . .?

Think about it a little bit.
Now that you mention it, I might have a little fun too.

“. . . do you want to eat too?”
“Gyurua!? (Is it okay!?)”

For some reason, I felt like the white dragon was laughing.

My physical condition has returned to normal.
Leaving aside the full-scale rehabilitation, it seems possible to take a short walk around the area.

“. . . The sun is warm today as well.”

It’s still nice outside.
Just lying on the bed makes you sluggish.
When you move your body in the sunlight like this, you can feel the warm blood circulating through your fingers and toes.

“. . . Suuu. . . . .haa. . .”

When I took a deep breath of clear air into my lungs and exhaled it, my blurry head began to wake up.

I turned my head slightly and looked around.
I look for the figure of the white dragon.
But the beautiful dragon is nowhere to be seen.

“. . . Phew. . . Are you not here?”

I sighed.
I wonder what happened.
Somehow, I regret not being able to see that mysterious, shining white figure.

“Harbiston. I’m leaving. I’ll be right back.”

Calling out to the dragon, I grabbed my sword and stepped into the forest.

I sense foreshadowing!

I hope you enjoyed this chapter and thank you for reading!
