ICAWZ Chapter 141

ARC 4: Enlightenment

The Klayt Alliance had been migrating northward for some time, seemingly intending to evade pursuit from the west. However, just when they were about to reach Hossburgh, they instead stopped and chose to camp in the wilderness, remaining inactive.

Xu Cengfeng stood atop a small snow mound, using a telescope to gaze at the castle standing amidst the wind and snow, as if he were staring at something he had lost in a past life. After a long while, he finally put down the telescope.

Ah Sui stood behind, inexplicably sensing a trace of solemnity from Xu Cengfeng’s silhouette. He couldn’t help but glance into the distance, only to find nothing unusual. “Brother Cengfeng, what are you looking at?”

Xu Cengfeng snapped back to reality and shook his head. “Nothing.”

After speaking, he stepped down from the snow mound and saw Ah Sui looking utterly bored. He then asked, “Why aren’t you teaching Heim and the others how to practice?”

Strangely enough, Ah Sui had initially promised that he would teach Heim and the others how to practice martial arts as long as they could endure five days of horse stance training. He originally thought these pampered young males wouldn’t be able to handle it, but surprisingly, they had indeed persevered.

Upon hearing this, Ah Sui poked the snow with the long sword in his hand and noticed that the snow was getting thicker. “They’re still practicing the basic moves. They can only learn the more advanced techniques once they master those. Brother Cengfeng, Black Fang has been ordering the team to migrate north. We finally made it to Hossburgh; why don’t we go inside?”

Xu Cengfeng seemed to know everything. “Hossburgh is the central city of the north, and the interstellar pirates would also be wanted if they went in. Black Fang and the others are staying nearby to contact buyers within the city. They plan to sell the captured males at a high price. In a few days, buyers from the black market will come looking for them.”

Upon hearing this, Ah Sui instinctively paused his movements. “Brother Cengfeng, should we look for an opportunity to escape? I’ve stolen quite a bit of fuel from Black Fang and the others these past few days; it should be enough for us to take the starship back to the west.”

Xu Cengfeng didn’t respond. He simply reached out to brush the snow off Ah Sui’s shoulder. As he watched the thin flakes melt at his fingertips, he finally said quietly, “Ah Sui, I need to wait for a friend here. I can only leave once I’ve seen him.”

Ah Sui frowned unconsciously upon hearing this. “We’ve never been here before; how could you have a friend here?”

Xu Cengfeng didn’t provide much explanation. “Ah Sui, if I don’t see him in three days, we can escape together then, okay?”

Ah Sui replied, “Three days is too long. Can we do it in two days instead?”

Xu Cengfeng was usually easy to negotiate with, but he was quite insistent on this matter. Upon hearing Ah Sui’s suggestion, he raised his hand to pull down the brim of his hat and quietly said something that Ah Sui couldn’t understand: “Ah Sui, don’t try to change your fate. You might encounter many new things, but you may also miss out on many destined opportunities.”

The howling wind and snow on the hillside were too loud for Ah Sui to hear clearly. “What did you say?”

Xu Cengfeng repeated, “Wait another three days.”

Ah Sui had no choice but to compromise. “If we agree on three days, you can’t go back on your word.”

Xu Cengfeng nodded. “Yes, I won’t go back on my word.”

Upon hearing this, Ah Sui finally breathed a sigh of relief. During this time, Blairand had been urging him to leave as soon as possible, but Xu Cengfeng seemed to have no intention of departing. Now that he had received a definite answer, the heavy weight in his heart finally eased.

Ah Sui couldn’t wait to share this good news with Blairand, so he hurried back to the starship. However, as soon as he entered, he accidentally stepped on something and heard a sharp crack. Looking down, he saw it was a used syringe.

Ah Sui froze for a moment. Following the trail on the ground, he realized there was more than just the syringe scattered about; various broken pills were also strewn everywhere, and even the medicine cabinet had been overturned.

Not far away, on the bed, lay a familiar figure—it was Blairand. He seemed to be unwell, his face flushed, breathing irregular, and he was curled up in a corner of the bed, letting out a series of painful groans.

Ah Sui was startled by the sight and hurriedly approached to help him up from the floor. “Blairand? What happened to you?!”

Blairand had been relying on suppressive medications to alleviate his restless mental energy during this time, but the effects wore off shortly after he took them. The estrus period for females usually lasts about fifteen days, and he should have calmed down by now. However, he wondered if it was due to the time he had spent sleeping next to Ah Sui that had triggered his pheromones. As a result, his mental energy remained unstable, and it had flared up again just moments ago.

Blairand sensed Ah Sui’s proximity and buried his face in the crook of his neck, taking a deep breath. Rationality urged him to push this male away, but his body could not help but lean closer. Blairand tightly wrapped his arms around Ah Sui’s neck and began to mumble incoherently, “Ah Sui… I feel so awful…”

“Please help me… help me…”

Blairand rubbed against Ah Sui restlessly, his voice laced with a low plea, unsure how to end this tormenting pain.

Ah Sui was momentarily stunned by the sight. Suddenly, he recalled what the doctor had said earlier and stammered, “You… you’re not in your estrus period, are you?”

As this thought crossed his mind, Ah Sui was instantly frightened, his back going stiff. He remembered the doctor saying that Blairand might completely transform into a bug, and there was currently no medication to suppress it.

Ah Sui was terrified of bugs; just seeing one made him want to climb a tree to escape.

Blairand’s mind was a chaotic haze, making it impossible for him to comprehend the meaning behind Ah Sui’s words. His light blue pupils had inexplicably narrowed to a pinprick, giving him a more beastly appearance than human.

They were already sitting at the edge of the bed, and with a sudden movement, Blairand flipped over and pinned Ah Sui beneath him. He leaned down eagerly to kiss the male’s neck, his teeth suddenly turning sharp as they pierced the surface of the skin, sucking the blood that began to seep out.

Ah Sui couldn’t help but gasp, “It hurts…”

Could Blairand possibly be a bloodsucker?

He was terrified of bloodsuckers!

Most of the buttons on Blairand’s clothes had already come undone. Upon hearing Ah Sui cry out in pain, he seemed to regain some of his sanity and began to gently lick around the wound with his tongue. Then, he lowered his head and started to bite open the remaining buttons on Ah Sui’s clothes one by one.

Ah Sui inexplicably felt his face flush and instinctively blocked him, saying, “Don’t…”

Blairand’s eyes were tinged with red as he softly leaned against Ah Sui, his golden hair cascading down, creating a beauty that blurred the lines between male and female. He took Ah Sui’s hand and brought it to his lips, giving it a gentle kiss, leaving only a fragment of rationality.

At that moment, even that fragment of rationality was of little help; it merely allowed Blairand to recognize the male in front of him and his brain processed the information as: someone to get close to.

“Ah Sui…”

Blairand’s voice was hoarse and deep, an unwitting seduction.

“Help me…”

Help? How could he help?

Ah Sui’s mind went blank, but before he could voice his questions, Blairand suddenly began to gently remove his outer clothing beneath the covers.

The north was perpetually cold, and as they migrated closer to Hossburgh, the temperatures dropped even further. Even staying inside the starship, the heating had little effect, and it was common to be awakened by the cold during the night.

Ah Sui even worried that Blairand might catch a cold and instinctively pulled the covers up higher.

However, Blairand’s body temperature was astonishingly hot. He held onto Ah Sui’s fingertips and, perhaps out of embarrassment, covered Ah Sui’s eyes with his other hand, whispering softly, “It will be over soon…”

The moon was bright, and the stars were sparse, while the snow lay thick and white.

The winter wilderness always seemed exceptionally silent. The gnarled, dead branches stretched out in the cold wind, breaking the bright moon hanging in the sky into several pieces. Occasionally, a cold crow would flutter down, its calls echoing in the snow for a long time.

Recently, Black Fang and Carlos had been busy dealing with the sale of the males, staying locked up in the starship every day. With the freezing temperatures, the guards had become quite lax, gathering together to play cards and drink.

An out-of-season dragonfly flitted through the darkness, quietly landing on the scattered stones in the snow. Its translucent wings trembled incessantly, flashing a metallic sheen, yet it attracted no attention from the nearby insects.

Seeing this, Julian avoided the guards around him and stealthily hid the probing dragonfly in his pocket before making his way back to the abandoned starship where the captives were resting.

Quike and the others were gathered inside when they suddenly spotted Julian returning and quickly approached him. “How did it go? Did you find the transmitter?”

Julian signaled for them to be quiet. After closing the starship’s hatch, he took the probing dragonfly out of his pocket and placed it on the ground, speaking in a deep voice, “The headquarters sent out a probing dragonfly. The main force should be nearby.”

Quike urged, “Hurry and see what message Major Aks has sent!”

Upon hearing this, Julian took a mini-signal transmitter from between his teeth and opened the dragonfly’s abdomen to insert it. Suddenly, the dragonfly’s eyes flashed with a blue light, projecting a virtual screen in mid-air that displayed a brief directive:

[The army has arrived near the Black Rock Mountains. Signal lost, unable to detect interstellar pirate coordinates. If there is any information, send it back to headquarters immediately. Urgent need for new leader information, and also check on the whereabouts of Major General Blairand.]

Quike was startled at this. “We haven’t had a chance to send a message back yet. How does Major Aks know that the Klayt Alliance has a new leader?”

Julian frowned. “About half a month ago, the Black Hawk Alliance and the Klayt Alliance had a firefight in the outskirts. It must have been during that time that the news got leaked by accident.”

Everyone exchanged glances. “What should we do? Should we send the new leader’s information back?”

Julian raised his hand and removed the metal necklace from around his neck. At its end dangled a small black cube that seemed worthless, which was why the interstellar pirates hadn’t taken it when they searched them initially. “Even if we don’t send the information back, the military has other ways to learn about it. Let’s send it; it’s been fifteen days since we last contacted headquarters. If this continues, we might be mistaken for defectors. Take out the terminal components you have.”

Hearing this, Quike and the others had no choice but to rummage through their belongings to find some scattered components. Some were hidden under the insoles of their shoes, while others were tucked away in the seams of their clothes. When assembled, they formed a miniature terminal.

Julian first edited the identities of the various star pirate leaders within the Klayt Alliance. When it was time for Ah Sui and the others, his fingertips hesitated for a moment before he uploaded the facial information he had surreptitiously captured during training with a miniature camera—

“Wait!”

Quike suddenly reached out to block him. “The photo of the new leader doesn’t look good; let’s change it to another one.”

After saying this, he quickly tapped the screen and uploaded a different photo, then pulled his hand back with a sheepish grin, explaining to Julian, “This one looks cooler.”

The new photo was somewhat blurry, revealing little more than dark hair and dark eyes. If they were ever wanted, it would make it easier to disguise and escape.

Julian returned his gaze expressionlessly, pretending not to notice Quike’s little ploy, and continued to edit Ah Sui’s identity information:

[Name: Ah Sui.

Gender: Male.

Age: 22.

Criminal Record: Appointed as the new leader of the Klayt Alliance a month and a half ago, involved in the Black Hawk Alliance firefight in the outskirts; other criminal history unclear, not listed on the Empire’s wanted list.

Traits: Combat skills comparable to S-class females, proficient with a longsword, does not smoke, drink, or gamble, has no bad habits, kind-hearted, cheerful, and highly compassionate…]

Julian was typing when he suddenly felt something was off with the content. He quickly deleted the traits section. Damn it, this is a criminal record, not an award ceremony! What on earth was he writing?

Quike sighed, looking down, unable to bear it. “The new leader is so pitiful; he’s only been in power for a month and a half and is about to be taken down by the military.”

The other female soldiers shared similar thoughts, nodding in agreement: It really is tragic.

Julian, facing their sighing gazes, furrowed his brows. Not sure if he was annoyed by Quike’s incessant chatter, he tossed the terminal into Quike’s hands. “You edit it!”

“I’ll do it if you want me to!”

Quike didn’t hesitate at all. He took the terminal and quickly edited Ah Sui’s identity information. When it was time for Blairand, he hesitated for a moment. “What about Major General Blairand?”

They weren’t blind; Blairand spent every day with the new leader, reportedly even sharing the same bed. Given the situation of a lone male and a female together, it was hard not to have something happen.

Their identities were vastly different and they were in a relationship of enmity. If the news reached the military, Major General Blairand would surely face consequences.

Julian said, “Just write that Major General Blairand is currently safe, and don’t elaborate on anything else.”

Quike agreed, feeling it was better not to say too much.

Julian was worried that other interstellar pirates might notice something was off. Once the information was edited, he immediately disassembled the terminal again. He inserted the chip into the dragonfly’s abdomen. Initially planning to release it that night, he became concerned that the darkness would affect visibility, so he instead tucked it into his close pocket, planning to find an opportunity to release it the next day.

Quike walked to the porthole and glanced outside, muttering to himself, “I wonder what the new leader is doing…”

What was the new leader doing?

Ah Sui also didn’t know what he was doing. He sat dazedly on the chair outside the bathroom, staring blankly at his fair fingertips. Although he had already cleaned himself, the lingering heat from earlier still remained, making him feel both embarrassed and at a loss.

Blairand had been in the bathroom for half an hour without coming out. He leaned against the bathroom wall with his eyes closed, allowing the cold water to drench his entire body, hoping to clear his muddled mind. However, the redness on his face refused to fade.

Blairand was unwilling to believe that what had just happened was something he had done. It went against the noble education he had received for over twenty years and contradicted the rules that females must maintain modesty and purity.

Was the power of the estrus period really that great? Could it make him, who usually followed the rules, repeatedly break them? Clearly, he had never experienced such a loss of control during his previous heat cycles…

After taking a long cold shower, Blairand finally dried himself with a towel and stepped out of the bathroom, only to find Ah Sui waiting for him right at the door. His steps immediately froze.

Blairand had rushed in earlier and hadn’t had time to grab his clothes, so he had only wrapped a towel around his lower body. Seeing Ah Sui sitting outside, he instinctively retreated and closed the bathroom door with a loud “bang.”

“…”

Blairand’s mind went blank. He felt like he must be stupid—there were no clothes in the bathroom, so what was he hiding for?

What to do? Should he go out again?

But it seemed Ah Sui hadn’t left yet.

Just as Blairand was hesitating, a soft knock sounded from outside, but the other party didn’t say anything. Seeing this, Blairand cracked the bathroom door open just a little and saw Ah Sui handing in a clean set of clothes.

Blairand: “…”

Blairand reached out to take the clothes and quietly said, “Thank you.” His hand quickly retracted, and after a moment, a voice came through: “No need to thank me.”

Both of them were at a loss for words.

Blairand got dressed inside and, after calming his emotions, stepped out of the bathroom. At that moment, Ah Sui was standing at the door waiting. When he saw Blairand come out, his ears turned as red as if they were filled with blood, and he averted his gaze to another direction.

Blairand was a bit worried that Ah Sui might dislike him, considering how inappropriate the female zerg’s actions had been. After hesitating for a moment, he stopped in front of the male zerg and gently called out, “Ah Sui?”

Ah Sui finally looked at him, his eyelashes trembling uncontrollably: “Hmm?”

Blairand had just taken a cold shower, and his aura was cool as well. His light blue eyes fixed on Ah Sui, and he finally took hold of the other’s somewhat awkward-looking hand, asking seriously, “Do you hate what just happened?”

He was referring to the mutual assistance they had shared.

Upon hearing this, the memories that Ah Sui had just managed to calm suddenly surged back. He recalled Blairand’s skin turning pink, panting while leaning against him: “No…”

Ah Sui adjusted his posture, blushing as he shook his head and said, “I don’t hate it…”

It just felt a bit strange.

Blairand was close enough to him that he quickly noticed something off about Ah Sui. Casually glancing down, he instantly understood what was happening; the originally fair skin had taken on a layer of soft pink, looking exceptionally beautiful.

Ah Sui thought to himself: Why is Blairand all pink all over? He raised his hand to touch the damp strands of the other’s hair and found that the temperature was cooler than before. Hesitantly, he asked, “Did you take a cold shower?”

Blairand nodded.

Ah Sui couldn’t help but feel a bit worried. “Let me help you, so you don’t catch a cold.”

As he spoke, his footsteps moved slightly, intending to find a hairdryer, but he was suddenly pulled back by Blairand, pinning him against the wall. Blairand was pressed tightly against Ah Sui, his chest rising and falling slightly. After a moment, he suddenly looked at the male zerg with flushed eyes and softly said, “Let me help you?”

Let me help you.

Blairand truly meant that.

After saying this, he lowered his head and buried his face in Ah Sui’s neck, tentatively licking the swollen wound on the other’s neck while his right hand reached down. However, the next second, a powerful force suddenly surged at his waist, and he found himself tightly embraced in the male zerg’s arms.

Ah Sui didn’t know what he was doing; he just felt his heart racing, almost jumping out of his throat. His hands, accustomed to years of sword practice and bearing a few calluses, quietly slipped under the hem of Blairand’s sleepwear. For a brief moment, he gently caressed the area near Blairand’s shoulder blades, vaguely recalling that this was where the female zergs sprouted their wings.

Turning to press Blairand against the bulkhead, their faces both flushed, Ah Sui softly asked, “Can I see your wings?”

He held Blairand’s cold body tenderly, his timid and shy request making it hard for the zerg to refuse.

I don’t know if XCF also knows/remembers what’s to happen to Ah Sui, but on the surface he seems incredibly selfish for pushing north and not seeming to care at all about Ah Sui, even having him take on the role of interstellar pirate leader. TAT Poor Ah Sui is always thinking about and listening to him.
