IPDAOLR Chapter 29.2

IPDAOLR Chapter 29.2

Bai Yujun returned home, and the butler told her that her father was in the study. Hence, she went to study.

Her father, Bai Zhengou, was working in his study. A thick stack of folders was placed on his desk; half of them were contracts. Through these contracts, he had made a fortune and secured a spot among the country’s richest people.

Seeing Bai Yujun, Bai Zhengou rarely felt this pleased.

“Quite the skill you have, managing to hook up with two at the same time? That troublemaker from last time was one thing, but now you’ve even gotten close to the young master of the Yan Family? Not bad. You’re more useful than your sister.”

The driver said, “Miss has only gone out with them once before.”

Bai Yujun smiled lightly, ignoring her father and the driver’s words. Instead, she asked, “Are we meeting with President Wang tomorrow?”

Bai Zhengou: “Yes.”

Bai Yujun said, “But tomorrow is Monday.”

Bai Zhengou said, “The driver will pick you up after school. President Wang really likes you. On your birthday, make sure to perform well and help Father secure that contract.”

Bai Yujun smiled. “I understand.”

Back in her room, after taking a shower, Bai Yujun set the air conditioning to the lowest temperature. As she organized the books she needed for school the next day, she hummed a tune. The melody sounded like a lullaby, light and cute.

The housekeeper in charge of tidying the room said, “Miss Yujun seems to be in a really good mood today.”

Bai Yujun smiled. “Yes.”

The housekeeper said, “Then get some rest early. You need to work hard to help President Bai secure that contract.”

Bai Yujun said, “I will do my best.”

After school, Bai Yujun was taken to a lavishly decorated restaurant.

The restaurant was on the top floor, with transparent glass walls on all sides. Each table was separated by screens, ensuring plenty of privacy. The seats by the window offered a view of the entire city skyline at night.

In the distance, power pylons stood tall, painted in red and white. The signal lights at the very top flickered, fading into the vibrant neon nightscape.

President Wang was a middle-aged man with a round belly, approximately forty-five or forty-six years old. He was already married and had a daughter. It was said that his daughter had just started university this year.

At an age when he should have focused on family, seeing a beautiful young woman who was about the same age as his daughter still made his eyes gleam.

Bai Yujun suppressed her disgust and smiled as she sat down across from him.

For President Wang, this was perhaps a satisfying evening—an almost eighteen-year-old, beautiful and elegant young woman, every movement was calm and gentle, just like what she had been taught since childhood.

Before leaving, President Wang tried to touch her face but Bai Yujun blocked him and softly said, “No, you promised my father. You have to wait until my birthday.”

“Hahaha.” President Wang laughed. “Only two weeks left, October 10th, am I right? You’re about to turn eighteen.”

Bai Yujun nodded, her face displaying a well-practiced, polite smile. “Yes, see you then.”

President Wang: “Alright, I’ll take you back.”

Bai Yujun politely declined, “I’d like to take a walk. I ate too much tonight, and if I don’t move around a bit, I’ll gain weight.”

President Wang accepted the reason and got into the car, driving away.

Watching the car moving into the driveway, Bai Yujun let out a sigh of relief.

Modern life belonged to the night. At this hour, there were many people on the streets, and neon lights illuminated the entire long street. On either side of the road were postmodern-style buildings, crowded and lively.

Bai Yujun wasn’t wearing a white dress.

Today, her outfit was chosen according to President Wang’s preferences: a Japanese-style school uniform, her hair tied into a high ponytail, knee-high socks, a school bag, and black leather shoes.

This style of clothing wasn’t unusual now; many girls on the street like to wear it. Bai Yujun, being tall and looking great in the outfit, always made people turn their heads to look at her.

The beautiful girl suddenly started singing.

It was the ending song of the animated movie she had watched the day before, a Japanese lullaby.

(Who are you? Who exactly are you?)

Passersby on the street often glanced over. Singing alone on the street was an odd thing to do. Even though the girl’s voice was beautiful and the melody of the song was pleasant, it was still peculiar.

Bai Yujun didn’t mind their gazes at all. She tiptoed forward, walking past the street, her steps light and cheerful—-

(Who are you? Who exactly are you?)

Bai Yujun returned to her room. She had just finished showering and was about to change into her pajamas.

In her room, there was a full-length mirror, and she could see her back as soon as she turned her head.

The wound on her arm had already healed, but the one on her back was still there. However, it was nearly healed, with only a few faint scars remaining. By her birthday, they should be barely noticeable.

She remembered a month ago, the day before the school started, she saw her sister hanging herself in her room.

That sight was too terrifying—her sister’s tongue stretched out, her eyes bulging. A sister that was so obsessed with beauty, choosing such an ugly pose to end her life.

She thought to herself that one day she too might end up like that.

Her father raised them only to be tools for business, for making money. He would send them to the rooms of men like President Wang.

Bai Yujun had thought about running away, but she knew she couldn’t escape. Her father could easily find her and beat her until she was completely subdued.

“Know your place. As an omega, you should know your role and obey.”

“I raise you, teach you, not so you can live a carefree, spoiled life as a young lady!”

Being an omega wrong?

She didn’t know.

Everyone said she was a mistake.

Perhaps she thought the same way herself, which was why she was unwilling to admit that she was also an omega at school.

She opened the calendar on the desk, and on September 29th, she marked an ‘X’ on that date.

(Who brought you here, and where do you wish to go next?)

The school held a grade-level meeting for the first and second years. Bai Yujun and Yan Mu, as student representatives, went on stage to give speeches.

Bai Yujun was the school beauty, widely recognized as the most beautiful in the school, and no first-year student was more attractive than her.

A junior approached her after she got off the stage to ask for her contact information. He was tall and handsome, and it seemed like this was his first time doing something like this. When speaking, his face flushed, and he would occasionally glance back at his friends.

Bai Yujun said, “You should focus on studying. I’ll give you my contact information once I see your midterm exam results. How about that?”

The junior’s eyes lit up with excitement and eagerly agreed. He waved at her, then energetically ran back to his own class section.

Outside the auditorium, the setting sun sank in the west, casting a brilliant and magnificent glow.

It’s really beautiful.

Bai Yujun thought.

Another day passed serenely.

(You should think carefully; the road ahead is long and full of thorns.)

“Yujun?” Her friend, excited to receive the gift from Bai Yujun, asked, “What is this?!”

Bai Yujun narrowed her eyes into a smile and said, “The new watch from Dralack. I know you’ve always wanted it, so I got it for you. I want you to be happy this year for your birthday.”

“Of course I will!” The girl hugged Bai Yujun. “I love you the most, Yujun!”

(Luckily, you have a resilient and brave heart.)

In the composition class, the teacher asked the students to write an essay on the topic of ‘The Future’.

According to Jiang Zhihuo, Class 1 had already written an essay on the topic of dreams. Old Ding even said that the essay wouldn’t be graded and would be returned to them before the college entrance exam.

“School beauty, school beauty, what did you write?” The boy sitting in front, unable to come up with anything, started asking around and gathered information right there.

Bai Yujun’s handwriting was neat and beautiful, but he was looking at it upside down and didn’t quite make it out.

He said, “I think you’re so good-looking that you can totally become a star. You should join a talent show, and the whole school will support you and help you push for votes. C-position, C-position!”

Bai Yujun smiled slightly and said, “But I can’t dance.”

The boy sitting in front said, “As long as you sing well, that’s enough! Looks are everything now. If you can stand on stage and appear good doing it, that’s already a form of strength!”

“I’d get criticized. I don’t want that,” Bai Yujun said.

The boy sitting in front turned back with a grin.

So, to her, what is the future?

She didn’t know and didn’t need to know. She had no future.

(You must move forward, you must resist, and sometimes you may even think about praying.)

The holiday had started—a seven-day break.

She received a call from President Wang.

President Wang said that he had prepared thoroughly for her birthday and she would definitely like the gift he had chosen for her.

“Please don’t say that, I’m really looking forward to it.” Bai Yujun said.

President Wang was quite pleased by her words and said, “I’m looking forward to it too.”

Bai Yujun hung up the phone.

At exactly midnight, a new day began. She marked another ‘X’ on a date.

Five days remained until her birthday.

(Will the gods help you?)

These past few days, she just couldn’t fall asleep.

In the time leading up to her sister’s death, she also couldn’t sleep. Dark circles were obvious under her eyes, and her mental state was in terrible shape.

Sometimes, she would hear her sister’s screams echoing in the room.

Bai Yujun twisted open the bottle of sleeping pills, poured them into her palm, swallowed them, and sank into the bathtub.

But she didn’t fall asleep. A wildfire of pain raged in her stomach. She crawled up, rushed to the toilet, and forced herself to vomit.

It was unbearable.

(But there are no gods in this world. Your prayers will ultimately become your own strength.)

On this day, she received another call from President Wang. He said tomorrow is your birthday.

Her father also came to her room. “You’re an adult now, it’s time for you to offer yourself.”

Bai Yujun said, “Okay.”

“Okay.”

“Okay……”

(So, have you remembered? Who are you, and who am I?)

October 9th.

She told her father that she wanted to go out after school to buy some cosmetics.

Her father agreed and instructed the driver to go with her.

Bai Yujun said, “Don’t follow me. I won’t run away. Tomorrow is my birthday, and I want to be alone, as myself.”

Bai Zhengou said, “Alright.”

He believed Bai Yujun wouldn’t run. She didn’t dare to run, and she couldn’t run—there was no escaping.

That day, Bai Yujun didn’t go to school; she skipped class.

It was her first time skipping class, not for any certain reason, but just to walk through the city’s streets and alleys one good time.

This was the city she had lived in since she was young, with the lights shimmering on as dusk fell, and the longstreet stretching for miles.

She vaguely remembered the excitement after being adopted by the Bai Family, the shock when she learned the truth, and would never forget the despair she felt when she saw her sister’s lifeless body.

She was an omega, and she was meant to be nothing more than a tool for her father to offer her body.

Nothing more than that.

(Yes, I am your god, and you are my prayer.)

She arrived at the riverbank.

The wind by the river was strong, and there was a long dam. She sat on the stone steps.

It was a cloudy day, and there were people fishing here. A fishing rod was stuck in the marble railing; the fisherman was chatting with his fishing buddy nearby.

She felt very happy.

She didn’t want to become that kind of tool, and the thought made her feel nauseous. She also didn’t want to end her life like her sister after enduring so much torment.

She couldn’t escape, but she could choose how to leave.

The riverbank was the best. The water flowed rapidly, and no one would see her, nor would anyone come to save her.

That day, when she watched the movie with Jiang Zhihuo and Yan Mu, they mentioned the Puzzle Bobble.

Her, her will, her evidence—could they possibly become the final blow that makes everything disappear?

Bai Yujun turned off her phone.

Just before pressing the power button, she received a call from Yan Mu.

It was a delightful thing that someone spoke to her before she left.

Bai Yujun answered the call.

But what came through the earpiece was Jiang Zhihuo’s voice, as lively and noisy as ever.

“Yujun, Yujun, Yujun, I know you’ll have a lot of people asking to hang out on your birthday! Don’t squeeze in with others; let us have the day before your birthday instead!!”

The author has something:

Imagine this—a girl walking down the street, humming a song, the scene cutting and changing~ haha!

PS: The school beauty’s storyline will end tomorrow!

PPS: The lyrics and the movie are all made up by the author. If there are any similarities, it’s purely coincidental.

T/N: I’ve set up a goal on my Kofi page for 5 bonus chapters of IPDAOLR~ If the goal is completed, 5 bonus chapters will be released~
