I Woke Up and Got Married Chapter 33

Chapter 33

Lu Zhiyue originally wanted to go back to bed and continue holding Chi Suinian for a bit more sleep, but when he returned, he saw that Chi Suinian was already somewhat awake.

Chi Suinian lifted his messy head from the bed, his voice hoarse as he asked Lu Zhiyue, “Who’s outside?”

“Room service,” Lu Zhiyue lied without a hint of guilt.

“?”

Chi Suinian glanced at the bright morning light outside and frowned. “Knocking this early—what kind of ridiculous hotel policy is that?”

Hearing this, Lu Zhiyue’s gaze darkened slightly, completely agreeing with him.

“It’s still early. Do you want to sleep a little longer?”

Chi Suinian scratched his head. “I can’t sleep anymore.”

Once he was woken up in the morning, it was difficult for him to fall back asleep.

“Then shall we go get some breakfast?” Lu Zhiyue asked tentatively.

Since he was already awake, Chi Suinian nodded in agreement.

While Chi Suinian was in the bathroom washing up, Lu Zhiyue opened the door to take a quick look. Lin Weixing was already gone, and the hallway was quiet.

When Chi Suinian finished washing up and came out, he immediately saw Lu Zhiyue sneaking around by the door. “What are you doing?”

“Nothing.” Lu Zhiyue turned back, his expression unreadable. “You’re ready? Let’s go.”

Chi Suinian suspiciously glanced outside the door but didn’t see anything unusual, so he dropped the matter.

The morning air in the mountains was particularly fresh.

Not far from the side of the hotel was a restaurant that opened early, and from a distance, Chi Suinian could already smell the aroma of steamed buns.

“Freshly steamed buns,” the owner greeted warmly as they walked in. “What would you two like to eat?”

Chi Suinian, still half-asleep, stared blankly at the menu—waking up too early had left him a little dazed.

“I’ll order.” Lu Zhiyue took the menu, glanced over it, and said, “We’ll have the special set meal, add a cup of soy milk, and also your crab roe buns, two servings, please. Thank you.”

Hearing this, Chi Suinian immediately sobered up. “That’s a lot of food. Are you a starving ghost reincarnated or something?”

Despite his words, when breakfast was served, he ended up eating the most.

Most of the food meant for two ended up in his stomach.

“Breakfast portions are small. Do you want to order anything else?” Lu Zhiyue asked.

“No.” Chi Suinian slumped back in his chair to digest. “I need a break.”

Lu Zhiyue chuckled and didn’t rush him. “I’ll just go to the restroom.”

Inside the restroom, Lu Zhiyue frowned, his expression somewhat serious.

After a moment of contemplation, he took out his phone and called his assistant.

“President Lu.” Jiang Ying’s voice was slightly hoarse, sounding as if she had just woken up. “Did something happen?”

“The Yun County factory still hasn’t resumed production, has it?” Lu Zhiyue asked.

“No, not yet,” Jiang Ying quickly adjusted to work mode. “The equipment is being updated this week, so the workers are idle. Production will resume next Monday.”

“Alright,” Lu Zhiyue said. “Arrange a company-wide team-building event. I’ll send you the location shortly.”

“Uh… today?” Jiang Ying sounded surprised.

“Yes. The sooner, the better.”

.

“What the hell, Lin Weixing? It’s early in the morning! Are you trying to summon spirits or something?” Tang Jin lay sprawled on the sofa, grumbling.

Lu Heng had also been dragged here first thing in the morning, feeling like his soul had left his body. He leaned against the sofa, half-asleep.

“Don’t sleep.” Lin Weixing frowned. “I need to ask you something.”

Lu Heng didn’t even open his eyes. “…What do you want to ask?”

Lin Weixing asked, “What’s the relationship between Suinian and that man from yesterday?”

Lu Heng was a little confused. “What man…?”

“Oh, come on, wake up. This is really important to me. Answer me first, then you can sleep.” Lin Weixing shook Lu Heng’s head.

“Stop shaking me, stop—if you keep shaking, I’ll puke.” Lu Heng looked nauseous.

“I’m asking you, what’s the relationship between Chi Suinian and that man from yesterday? Why were they staying in the same room?”

Lu Heng yawned, his eyes sore from exhaustion, and barely registered what Lin Weixing was saying.

He replied instinctively, “You mean Lu Zhiyue? He likes Suinian. He’s pursuing him.”

Pursuing?

Lin Weixing let out a sneer.

Who the hell pursues someone by staying in their room and saying all sorts of ambiguous things?

That guy didn’t seem like a good person at all—he looked calculating and scheming, which made Lin Weixing uncomfortable. He needed to warn Chi Suinian not to fall for it.

“You guys go back to sleep. I’m leaving.”

“Huh?” Lu Heng struggled to keep his eyes open and mumbled, “Got it… I’m going back to sleep…”

When Lu Zhiyue came out of the restroom, Chi Suinian had also finished resting. Just as the two were about to leave, someone suddenly walked into the restaurant.

“Xiao Ye?”

Lu Zhiyue looked up in surprise, then smiled. “Uncle Pang.”

“What a coincidence running into you here.” Pang Mingda chuckled and sat down beside him. “Are you here on vacation or for work?”

“Vacation,” Lu Zhiyue replied.

Chi Suinian glanced between the two as they caught up. Seeing how heartfelt their reunion seemed, he didn’t want to interrupt or awkwardly leave, so he simply stayed silent and waited.

“And this is…?” Pang Mingda’s gaze fell on Chi Suinian, who looked thoroughly bored.

Chi Suinian met Lu Zhiyue’s eyes, worried that he might say something alarming, so he quickly jumped in before he could.

“I’m his assistant.”

Lu Zhiyue froze for a second.

…?! Chi Suinian nearly bit his tongue in frustration.

What the hell am I saying?

What kind of boss goes out for breakfast with a male assistant first thing in the morning? That’s ridiculous!

I should’ve just said we were friends.

However, Pang Mingda believed it instantly. His gaze lingered on Chi Suinian for only a moment before he turned back to Lu Zhiyue.

“Do you have any free time these days? Your Aunt Liu has been thinking about you.”

This man was his father’s close friend before he passed away and had always been very concerned about him. Lu Zhiyue could only reply helplessly, “The company has been busy lately. I’ll definitely visit when I have time.”

“You always say that,” Pang Mingda scoffed. “Are you brushing me off again?”

“How would I dare?” Lu Zhiyue said with a smile. “I’ll visit you and Aunt Liu next week.”

“Alright, it’s a deal.” Pang Mingda paused, then suddenly remembered something. “By the way, I heard as soon as I returned to the country that you got married. Is that true?”

“…Cough! Cough, cough, cough.”

Chi Suinian was caught off guard and choked on his water, coughing so hard that his face turned red.

He shot a glare at Lu Zhiyue—

If you dare to mention me, you’re dead!

“You okay, young man?” Pang Mingda asked with concern.

Chi Suinian quickly lowered his head, drinking water to cover his face with the cup. “…I’m fine.”

Seeing that his complexion was still alright, Pang Mingda relaxed and turned back to Lu Zhiyue. “Your Aunt Liu and I were shocked when we heard the news. When did you get married? Who’s the lucky girl? We know nothing about it—is this just a rumor?”

“It’s not.” Lu Zhiyue raised an eyebrow and chuckled. “I really did get married.”

Crack.

Chi Suinian nearly snapped his chopsticks in half.

He lifted his eyes and glared daggers at Lu Zhiyue, his face instantly flushing red.

But this time, Pang Mingda had no attention to spare for Chi Suinian. He stared at Lu Zhiyue in surprise. “You actually got married? Who’s the person?”

Chi Suinian felt deeply uncomfortable listening to this. He also worried that if he left, Lu Zhiyue might start spouting nonsense, so he had no choice but to sit there, restless.

If looks could kill, Lu Zhiyue would have been chopped into pieces by now.

Lu Zhiyue gazed forward, the corners of his lips curling slightly. “It’s someone I’ve liked since I was young.”

Chi Suinian: “……”

Pang Mingda was taken aback. “Oh? Your first love?”

Lu Zhiyue admitted it outright. “Mm.”

“When did you two get married? Why didn’t you tell your Aunt Liu and me?”

“At the beginning of last year. It was a bit rushed, so we didn’t have a wedding.”

Pang Mingda teased, “You were that eager to bring them home?”

Lu Zhiyue smiled. “Yeah, if I waited too long, someone else might have snatched them away.”

Pang Mingda had never seen Lu Zhiyue like this before and became even more intrigued. “I always thought you were a block of wood, completely clueless about love. Turns out, you can be head over heels too.”

Lu Zhiyue let out a small smile and shook his head helplessly.

“When’s the wedding? Do you have any plans yet?” Pang Mingda continued asking.

“Not yet. That’s up to him to decide.”

Pang Mingda was truly curious now. “What, you can’t make the decision?”

Lu Zhiyue had grown up under his watchful eye. He had always been distant and indifferent to people, never letting anyone get too close.

Yet now, after a trip abroad, not only was he married, but he seemed completely wrapped around his spouse’s finger—like he was in the honeymoon phase.

Pang Mingda’s curiosity about his “nephew-in-law” reached its peak.

Lu Zhiyue glanced at Chi Suinian and said, “Mm, everything at home is decided by him.”

Chi Suinian: “……”

Screw you.

“That won’t do!” Pang Mingda insisted. “They married you, and you didn’t even hold a wedding? That’s not showing enough sincerity!”

He made the decision on the spot. “How about this—you two pick a date, and your Aunt Liu and I will take care of the wedding arrangements. Consider it our wedding gift to you. No refusing!”

Chi Suinian was horrified.

How did we suddenly get to wedding plans?

Do elders always get this excited about marriages?

“There’s no need for that, Uncle Pang,” Lu Zhiyue tried to dissuade him. “A wedding… can’t happen anytime soon.”

“Why not?”

“I made him angry.” Lu Zhiyue sighed dramatically. “Hard to coax.”

Chi Suinian was almost impressed by this man’s acting skills.

How thick-skinned does he have to be to spin such a dramatic tale?

It’s a waste if he doesn’t write novels.

Pang Mingda chuckled, his shoulders shaking. “You’ve got it coming! Hahahaha…”

Lu Zhiyue said helplessly, “Uncle Pang.”

“Alright, alright, I won’t laugh at you anymore.” Pang Mingda, drawing from experience, advised, “Since you know you messed up, you better make it up to him. Don’t be too proud—show some sincerity. Best if you prepare a gift too. By the way… I haven’t even asked yet. What kind of person is your spouse?”

The sudden silence made Chi Suinian uneasy. He gripped his phone and was about to make a quick exit—

But Lu Zhiyue suddenly turned to look at him.

His deep, dark eyes were calm yet full of meaning as they swept over him.

“Very beautiful, with a great figure.”

Pang Mingda was surprised that Lu Zhiyue would be so shallow. “What about their personality?”

Lu Zhiyue lifted his eyes again. “Very cute.”

Chi Suinian: “……”

Don’t ask. If you ask, I want to kill someone.

Under Chi Suinian’s heavy stare, Pang Mingda finally stopped asking questions when he got a phone call and left.

The moment he walked out of the restaurant, Chi Suinian furiously stood up, grabbed Lu Zhiyue by the collar, and pinned him to the seat. “Lu Zhiyue, what the hell are you trying to do? Humiliating me in front of others on purpose?”

He exerted so much force that Lu Zhiyue could feel a slight ache in his shoulder.

Staring at Chi Suinian’s face, which was now close enough to touch, Lu Zhiyue smirked. “Why are you mad? I wasn’t talking about you.”

Bullshit.

Chi Suinian’s eyes were burning red with fury. “Not talking about me? Then why the hell did you keep looking at me?!”

And twice, at that!

Not humiliating me? Even a dog wouldn’t believe that!

Chi Suinian clenched his fists, resisting the urge to strangle him. He roared, “If you dare spout nonsense again, I’ll—”

Before he could finish, a voice interrupted him.

Lin Weixing had entered the restaurant and was staring at the two of them, their bodies pressed close together. He froze for a second before asking, “…You two?”

Lu Zhiyue’s eyes darkened slightly when he saw the newcomer.

He placed a hand on Chi Suinian’s waist and said lazily, “We’re arguing. Can you not interrupt?”

Chi Suinian gritted his teeth. “……”

I swear, if you keep talking like this, you’re dead.
