I Woke Up and Got Married Chapter 46

Chapter 46

Seeing the two of them wearing identical clothes, Aunt Liu covered her mouth and laughed, “You two are really quite affectionate, haha.”

Chi Suinian gripped his chopsticks tightly.

Yeah.

Affectionate.

His fist, the size of a sandbag, was truly very affectionate with Lu Zhiyue.

“These clothes clearly reflect Suinian’s taste. Lu Zhiyue always dresses like an old man — his clothes are so dull. Wearing something like this is so much better,” Zhao Yunzhen said. “Makes him look younger.”

Lu Zhiyue glanced at the person beside him. “Mm, Suinian bought me these clothes.”

“……”

Pang Mingda smiled kindly. “Xiao Ye, last time you said you two only got the marriage certificate and haven’t had the wedding yet. Have you decided when to do it?”

Lu Zhiyue’s smiled and said, “Up to him. I’m fine anytime.”

Everyone at the table looked at Chi Suinian. He looked completely caught off guard. “N-no, haven’t decided yet.”

“That won’t do. Since you’re already married and clearly love each other, the wedding should be held as soon as possible,” Aunt Liu said. “Otherwise, rumors will start spreading.”

Pang Mingda looked serious. “Yes, I’ve been hearing some gossip these days. All nonsense, but it still gets under your skin.”

Ding Xuxing’s words at the bar had eventually spread, and a lot of people in their circle were speculating about the real reason Lu Zhiyue got married so suddenly.

Pang Mingda was very protective and even argued with someone over it. That’s why he called the two of them over — to clear things up.

Thankfully, judging by how the two were getting along, he could finally feel relieved.

Chi Suinian kept his head down and mumbled, “Soon.”

Pang Mingda and Aunt Liu were finally satisfied.

“I know an old tailor shop — their suits are absolutely stunning. Now’s the perfect time to make an appointment,” Aunt Liu said excitedly.

“Aunt, isn’t it a bit early to book now?” Zhao Yunzhen said from the side.

“What do you know? Good clothes take time to make. You think it’s some mass-produced factory stuff?” Aunt Liu said. “Suinian, I’ll give you the master tailor’s contact. Go take a look and pick a few sets. This is my wedding gift to you.”

Chi Suinian originally wanted to refuse, but Aunt Liu insisted and stuffed the business card into his hand, urging him to go.

He accepted the card reluctantly, but in his heart, he had no intention of going.

By the time they finished dinner, it was already dark. Chi Suinian politely declined Aunt Liu’s offer to stay over and headed home late at night.

Since Lu Zhiyue hadn’t drunk, he drove them home.

On the way, Lu Zhiyue couldn’t hold back and asked, “When?”

Chi Suinian stared out the window, dazed. “Hm?”

“The wedding,” Lu Zhiyue said. “When are we having it?”

“It was just to make the elders happy,” Chi Suinian tilted his head and scoffed. “You’re really too into this, President Lu.”

A red light appeared ahead. Lu Zhiyue stepped on the brake and went quiet for a moment. Just when Chi Suinian thought he wouldn’t respond, he suddenly heard him say, “Yeah… I really am quite disappointed.”

His voice carried an unmistakable hint of sadness.

Chi Suinian pressed his lips together, inexplicably irritable.

By the time they got back to the Lu household, it was almost midnight. Uncle Zhang and the others were already asleep, but a lamp was still on in the living room.

This was Uncle Zhang’s habit. As long as the master was out late, he would always leave a light on — so the house wasn’t in complete darkness, and it still felt like home.

Chi Suinian had been drinking, and at this hour, sleepiness hit hard. He took a quick shower, and with his hair still wet, collapsed onto the bed.

Lu Zhiyue entered and immediately noticed — again, he was neglecting his health. “Why didn’t you dry your hair?”

“I’ll dry it later… stop nagging,” Chi Suinian mumbled, his words slurring with sleep.

Lu Zhiyue glanced at the air conditioner set to 18°C and sighed. He went to the bathroom to fetch the hairdryer, plugged it in, and set it to a gentle setting.

“What are you doing?” Chi Suinian lifted his head, eyes half-lidded with sleep.

“Drying your hair for you.”

Before he could protest, Lu Zhiyue’s fingers began to gently rub his hair, the buzzing noise of the dryer humming in his ears.

It was an annoying sound, yet it only made Chi Suinian sleepier.

After a while, he suddenly remembered something. Forcing his eyes open, he mumbled, “Lu Zhiyue… you lied to me again.”

The dryer was loud, so Lu Zhiyue didn’t hear clearly — only noticed his lips moving.

He turned the machine off and asked softly, “What?”

“You damn liar. You can drink, and you used that to trick me,” Chi Suinian muttered, heavy with sleep. “You’re really something. I totally underestimated you.”

He was annoyed just thinking about it — back then, he had even tried to coax secrets out of a supposedly drunk Lu Zhiyue like some idiot.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He felt like biting Lu Zhiyue to death.

Lu Zhiyue gently rubbed his soft hair. “Sorry.”

“You’re always sorry.” Chi Suinian kicked his leg lightly. It was more like a soft paw swipe than a real kick. “Never change.”

Lu Zhiyue finally realized — Chi Suinian was a bit drunk.

“You’re drunk.”

“I’m not drunk.” Chi Suinian flung the blanket off.

“Be good,” Lu Zhiyue stopped him from getting up. “Sleep first. Talk tomorrow.”

Chi Suinian, lying face down, couldn’t lift himself up. He gritted his teeth. “Say it if you don’t want your hand anymore.”

The hand on his shoulder was quickly withdrawn. Instead, his ear was gently rubbed.

Chi Suinian tossed a pillow at him. “Lu Zhiyue, you bastard—”

“Lie down.”

Chi Suinian was pressed flat on the bed, the blanket pulled up to his chest. The mattress was too comfortable — his whole body felt warm and soft.

Within seconds, he couldn’t stop yawning. His eyes were glazed with a faint mist of tears.

“I won’t let you off,” he mumbled. “Just wait until tomorrow…”

“Alright,” Lu Zhiyue leaned down and placed a soft kiss on his rosy lips. “Sleep.”

Chi Suinian finally fell into darkness.

Lu Zhiyue didn’t get into bed right away. He took off his watch, walked onto the balcony, carefully closed the door behind him, and slowly sent a WeChat message to his assistant, Jiang Ying.

If it weren’t for the time being so late, he would’ve called directly.

Unexpectedly, Jiang Ying replied quickly and even called him.

“President Lu, you’re still awake this late?”

The noise on the other end was loud — clinking glasses and shouting. Even from a distance, Lu Zhiyue could tell she was in a bar.

Jiang Ying was always composed and professional around him, so this side of her came as a surprise.

“I won’t be at the office tomorrow. Look into Ding Xuxing. I want all his criminal records from the past five years. There should be plenty. Once you have them, send them to the authorities under my name.”

Jiang Ying immediately realized — someone had clearly pissed off President Lu. She sobered up instantly. “Understood. I’ll get on it first thing tomorrow.”

“Mm.” Lu Zhiyue paused and reminded her, “It’s late. You should head home.”

Jiang Ying was stunned, then laughed. “President Lu, the night’s just getting started. But I can’t access the info now — I’ll have to wait till I’m back at work.”

“Alright. Good work. I’ll give you a bonus in your year-end pay.”

Jiang Ying perked up. “It’s no trouble at all!”

As long as the pay is good, she’d gladly work even at midnight.

After finishing up, Lu Zhiyue took a quick shower and returned to the bedroom.

The room was a bit chilly. Chi Suinian’s arm was cold from being exposed outside the blanket. Lu Zhiyue pulled him into the covers and, feeling content, closed his eyes.

The next day, Chi Suinian was woken up by Lu Zhiyue. He hadn’t slept enough and was full of morning grumpiness. Without even opening his eyes, he started cursing, “Lu Zhiyue, can you just shut up…”

A warm towel brushed against his cheek, and Lu Zhiyue chuckled beside his ear, “Time to get up. Aunt Liu made an appointment for us with the tailor. We’re going to get our measurements taken.”

Chi Suinian had thought Aunt Liu was just saying things casually—who would’ve expected her to be so serious and act so quickly? She had everything arranged in just one night. A real doer, that woman.

Sprawled on the bed, Chi Suinian refused to move. “Does it have to be in the morning?”

Who the hell starts working this early, especially master tailors?

“Yeah, Master Feng is going to Beijing this afternoon. Morning’s the only time he’s available,” Lu Zhiyue said as he reached out to pinch the tip of Chi Suinian’s sharp nose. “Up you get.”

Still groggy, Chi Suinian didn’t even notice how intimate the gesture was.

Since it was a gift from an elder, he couldn’t really refuse. After a simple breakfast, they headed to the appointment.

Master Feng was an elderly tailor with graying hair and glasses. He walked slowly, but his hands were steady. He took out sample garments and measured meticulously, not missing a single detail—everything organized and precise.

“You’ve got a great build, young man,” Master Feng said after finishing Suinian’s measurements. “I haven’t seen such ideal proportions in years—you’re like a clothes hanger. You’d look good in anything.”

Before Chi Suinian could say something humble, Lu Zhiyue chimed in, “Then let’s make one of everything.”

Master Feng paused mid-sip of his tea.

He had thousands of fabrics in his collection. Making one of everything would be outrageously expensive.

“Are you stocking up for resale?” Chi Suinian raised an eyebrow. “One set is enough. I don’t even wear suits usually.”

“We can start with a few. You’ll wear them eventually,” Lu Zhiyue said, checking the options.

Chi Suinian looked puzzled. “Why are you so set on buying me clothes? Planning to poison the fabric or something?”

That mouth of his.

“I like buying things for you. Seeing you spend my money makes me happy,” Lu Zhiyue replied, helplessly.

“You’re sick.”

Still, despite his words, Chi Suinian turned around and picked out two more fabrics.

Once they’d chosen the fabric, Lu Zhiyue took him to pick out ties. Though Suinian didn’t usually wear them, it was obvious at a glance that the quality and designs here weren’t inferior to those in high-end stores. Each one was exquisite.

A true master artisan.

“How about this one?” Lu Zhiyue pulled out a red bow tie from the cabinet—it matched perfectly with the fabric he’d just selected.

Chi Suinian glanced at it and shook his head. “No.”

“Why not?”

“It’s too flashy. Feminine.”

“……”

In the end, Chi Suinian chose a few ties with understated colors and simple styles. But when it came to tying them, he got stuck.

How the hell did this thing even work?

He’d seen Lu Zhiyue do it often, but it had never looked this complicated before.

“Are you… tying a red scarf or something?” Lu Zhiyue suddenly leaned in.

Chi Suinian froze, face flushed. “Mind your own damn business. Go do something useful.”

Lu Zhiyue chuckled, his fingers pinching the fabric around Suinian’s neck. “Let me help you.”

With practiced ease, he tied a neat knot in the shimmering fabric. Suinian turned his face away in annoyance. “You trying to strangle me?”

“Too tight?” Lu Zhiyue asked, adjusting the fit. “Feels just right to me.”

“……”

That slight touch had landed right on Suinian’s Adam’s apple—a sensitive spot. He couldn’t help the small shiver that followed, fingertips twitching.

Face growing redder, heart pounding, he shoved Lu Zhiyue away. “I’ll do it myself.”

Lu Zhiyue glanced at his burning-red ears and smiled wordlessly. “Okay.”

Just as Chi Suinian was about to say something, his phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and walked toward the door. “I need to take this.”

“Suinian, get to the company right away,” Qin Suitian’s voice was oddly tense and uneasy.

“What is it?” Chi Suinian asked.

“Chi Mingyao brought someone with him,” Qin Suitian said. “He says he wants to re-elect the board members.”

“So what? He’s pulled stunts like this before,” Chi Suinian replied indifferently. “It won’t cause any real waves.”

“That person…”

Qin Suitian hesitated a moment before saying quietly, “It’s Chi Kaidong.”

Chi Suinian’s foot slipped, and he almost crashed into the balcony door.

His fingers gripped the doorframe so tightly they turned white. His voice trembled. “…Who?”

The words came out barely above a whisper.

Lu Zhiyue, noticing the disturbance, put the fabric back down and looked toward Suinian.

“Chi Kaidong,” Qin Suitian said again, his voice like a whisper from hell. “Your biological father.”
