Double update yay! Happy White Day!
“You don’t know?”
Enoch looked confused and asked, “Know what? What’s this about human trafficking you mentioned?”
Jiang Yuan lowered his eyes and looked at Enoch. After a brief pause, he explained the situation briefly. Enoch’s face was filled with disbelief. “You’re saying those so-called goods were actually people?”
“That’s right.”
Jiang Yuan noticed the young man before him seemed severely shaken. His lips trembled, and his lowered eyelashes cast fan-shaped shadows on his eyelids. The man turned to Joshua, eyes narrowed, and asked in an unfriendly tone, “Joshua, is what they’re saying true?”
For a moment, an eerie silence fell over the room.
The man called Joshua frowned but remained silent. Just as he’d said from the start, he wouldn’t answer any of their questions.
“So we’ve all been accomplices to human trafficking… You bastards! How dare you deceive us like this!” A blue-eyed blonde man shouted in rage. “No wonder, no wonder Cartier died in that accident. It’s because Cartier discovered your secret, so you killed him, right?
“You killed Cartier. That car crash wasn’t an accident at all!”
Hearing this, Enoch’s eyes widened in shock as he turned to the man and exclaimed, “Captain Noah, are you saying Captain Cartier was murdered?”
Cartier was a familiar name to everyone. He had been their security team captain before Noah, but six months ago, Cartier had died instantly in a severe car crash while driving home after work.
Could Cartier’s death really have been more than just an accident?!
The blonde, blue-eyed Noah nodded and said, “Before the incident, Cartier told me some strange things. He even said he wanted to quit and leave this place. I thought he was joking, but then he died shortly after. I believed it was an accident, but now thinking carefully…”
As everyone’s gazes fell on Joshua, he curved one corner of his mouth into a cold smile, chin slightly raised with an air of arrogance.
“The spacecraft – the spacecraft will land in half an hour!” Noah suddenly called out through gritted teeth.
Hearing Noah’s words, Joshua’s previously cold expression instantly transformed into fury. “You bastard, do you want to die?!”
Noah ignored Joshua’s threat and instead declared resolutely, “Before, we didn’t know your cargo was people, but now that we know you’re trafficking humans, how could we possibly continue helping you?!
“I can help you get to the spacecraft. Although I’ve never been aboard, I’ve helped deliver cargo with them, and when Joshua’s busy, he sometimes has me deliver the… ‘goods’ to the people on the spacecraft.”
“Damn bastard!” Joshua burst out in rage, glaring at Noah as if he wanted to devour this security guard whole.
Noah lowered his brows, aware that the two young men were sizing him up. “I can take you up there! Although I’ve only helped with handoffs a few times… the people on the spacecraft shouldn’t suspect me.”
Ji Rong carefully studied the man speaking, clearly weighing how trustworthy his words were. But before he could make a judgment, he saw Jiang Yuan step forward and directly unlock the handcuffs on the man.
Jiang Yuan: “Then please show us the way.”
“Please follow me.”
The man called Noah pointed at the cargo containers outside and said gravely, “Every time they transport goods… no… every time they transport people, they use these containers.
“Although that bastard Joshua sometimes has me help deliver cargo, I’ve never been aboard the spacecraft, so I don’t know what it’s like inside. To board the ship, you’ll have to hide in the containers.”
As if sensing their concerns, the man added, “Don’t worry, I won’t seal the containers completely.”
Jiang Yuan glanced at him and said, “No need to go inside. Empty containers will do. We just need the spacecraft to land and open its doors.”
“But what if they discover this and immediately close the hatch and take off?”
Jiang Yuan: “Don’t worry about that. I’ve got it covered.”
Hearing this, Noah fell silent for a moment before nodding, “Alright then, we’ll do as you say. I know you don’t trust me, but there’s no helping that. I just hope you succeed.”
Jiang Yuan gave a vague acknowledgment. After about twenty minutes, a small spacecraft flickering with lights slowly descended from the sky. It was called “small,” but its interior was actually much larger than the four-story building Jiang Yuan and Ji Rong had just raided.
As the spacecraft docked and its hatch opened, a man in camouflage carrying a gun stepped out, followed by two subordinates. He gave Noah a sidelong glance, “Why is it you? Where’s Joshua?”
“Mr. Joshua had something to attend to, so he asked me to deliver the cargo.” Noah pushed the empty container toward the man in camouflage.
“That guy is getting more and more unreliable…” The man complained, turning around. Suddenly, he swung both arms up and sprayed the area where Ji Rong and Jiang Yuan were hiding with his large-caliber weapon, instantly peppering the ground with bullet holes!
Jiang Yuan didn’t have time to think. He rolled forward just as a bullet struck the spot where he had been standing.
Jiang Yuan was certain he and Ji Rong had been discovered. Although Joshua didn’t say a word, he was sure that bastard had tipped them off.
Following where the muzzle flash had come from, Jiang Yuan fired a shot while rolling.
Soon he heard a muffled grunt. He hit one of the enemies. With his night vision goggles, Jiang Yuan could clearly see their positions.
After firing, Jiang Yuan immediately changed position. Just as he left his spot, three bullets flew from different holes in the wall. If he hadn’t moved, he definitely would have been hit!
Their opponents were skilled. There should be expert marksmen on their side as well.
Ji Rong, who also dodged the spray of bullets, fired twice into the air while asking Jiang Yuan through the comm, “Are you alright?”
Jiang Yuan immediately lowered his voice and replied through the comm, “I’m fine. They’ve discovered us.”
“I know. I’m going to rush over. Cover me,” Ji Rong quickly instructed, pressed against the wall.
…
Mickey held his chips frozen halfway to his mouth, his attention completely captured by the interstellar livestream. By now he had realized this wasn’t a movie but a live broadcast, as a line had appeared on the channel moments ago: This is a real rescue operation.
People had started spontaneously discussing the livestream. Questions about it appeared on all major interstellar forums, including StarNet, which was flooded with discussions about the broadcast.
Many people were discovering that the interstellar livestream wasn’t what they had expected.
[I just opened the interstellar livestream and thought I was seeing things. Since when did they start showing movies? Turns out after watching for a while it’s not a movie at all]
[The footage is so shaky. What kind of rescue operation is this? Couldn’t they use a drone to film it?]
[Damn, my little brat at home just tried what they said in the stream. The mechanical guards outside our complex actually turned into scrap metal. He’s at the police station now, with property management demanding compensation. I’m crying. Mechanical guards are so expensive, I can’t afford it. Want to beat the kid but I’m holding back since he’s my own flesh and blood QAQ]
[I looked up that Berkeley they mentioned. It really is a major noble family in the Rick Empire, and an incredibly powerful one at that…]
Merlin frowned at the scene on TV—
Just as the man in the footage finished speaking, the people who had come down from the ship suddenly shouted, mounting their guns on the cargo containers. Muzzle flashes lit up as bullets rained down, leaving crater after crater in the ground.
As both sides remained deadlocked, the opponents seemed to contact people inside the spacecraft. The ship’s searchlights swung around, powerful beams turning toward where the two men were positioned, leaving them nowhere to hide!
It’s over, these two are done for. How could they possibly dodge this?
Just as Merlin was worrying for them, several gunshots exploded in quick succession.
A flash of electricity carved multiple paths through the darkness, instantly intercepting the incoming bullets midair.
This was…
Point defense shooting!
Every electrical flash struck a bullet in mid-air!
Was this really not special effects?
Damn!
If this was real, how was this even possible?
Even with the searchlights exposing both sides, this shouldn’t be possible, right?
“Bang bang bang!”
At the same time, another person charged forward with a gun. firing wildly at the two enemies who hadn’t been knocked out. The gunfire grew more intense!
And the electrical flashes from behind grew even faster!
Like an art form, they intercepted the randomly fired bullets away from the charging shooter. Each point defense shot was like an impossible miracle, as if the electrical flashes had eyes of their own. The crackling current formed an impenetrable shield around the attacker!
Could this kind of marksmanship actually exist?
Merlin couldn’t help but wonder.
No… he had seen it before, once at this year’s mecha competition.
He had replayed those scenes over and over, watching them countless times!
Mecha enthusiasts had analyzed and simulated it endless times, reaching only one conclusion: that it was the Beta who represented the Federation in the competition. No, he wasn’t a Beta anymore… apparently that god Yuan was actually an Omega!
Although this expert might not be the strongest in close combat, their control of battlefield rhythm was absolutely unmatched, making their overall ability the strongest.
