Two days later.
Because Jiang Yuan had been deliberately keeping his distance, Ji Rong was distracted and didn’t hear a word his father Ji Chong was saying.
In real life, Jiang Yuan would sometimes keep his distance, but when playing games he acted just like before, showing no signs of avoiding Ji Rong, and even joked around with him.
Ji Rong was completely confused. Did Jiang Yuan discover his impure intentions or not?
Ji Chong noticed Ji Rong’s heavy expression. “Did you hear what I just said?”
Ji Rong was troubled. Hearing Ji Chong’s words pulled him back from his thoughts. “I didn’t… Dad, say it again.”
“What’s wrong with you these past couple days?” Ji Chong keenly noticed his son had been lost in thought lately.
Ji Rong said nothing, just waved his hand at Ji Chong.
“Never mind.” Seeing Ji Rong didn’t want to answer, Ji Chong changed the topic. “He can’t leave Hoyt yet. I’ll stay in Hoyt and wait to return with him once he’s finished handling matters here.”
Without even thinking about it, Ji Rong knew this “he” referred to his Omega father, because whenever Ji Chong mentioned “him,” his expression would turn gentle.
“Will it take much longer to handle things here?” Ji Rong asked.
Ji Chong smiled and said, “He said it won’t be too long, at most half a month.”
Ji Rong made a sound of acknowledgment.
“Marshal Alfonso also has some unresolved matters and will stay in Hoyt temporarily. Do you want to stay or return first with your classmates?” Ji Chong asked.
“With them,” Ji Rong answered without hesitation. “I still have classes at school.”
Ji Chong didn’t point out Ji Rong’s poor excuse. Those school courses were far too simple for his son. After all, during those years in Noth under his personal guidance, as a father he knew his son’s mecha skills like the back of his hand.
“Alright then,” Ji Chong said. “Tonight we’ll have dinner together as a family.”
“Where are we eating?” Ji Rong asked.
“The Hoyt Royal Hotel.”
Ji Rong nodded and agreed, “Okay.”
After giving Ji Rong another glance toward the door, Ji Chong let his son leave and went to the next room to find Alfonso.
“Ji Chong, you’re here.” Alfonso looked at Ji Chong, his eyes curved in a smile as he greeted him happily.
Ji Chong looked at Alfonso’s smiling face. Whenever Alfonso showed that crafty smile, nothing good would come of it. “Why did you call me here?”
“I want to ask for your help,” Alfonso said in a serious tone.
Ji Chong’s face remained expressionless as he said flatly, “What?”
“I want your lover to help arrange something for me. I want to meet with the Emperor of Hoyt,” Alfonso tapped the table with his hand and said slowly, “I’m sure your lover has that ability.”
Alfonso had already received a response from Hosea, who assured him that the minister he’d been in contact with wasn’t deliberately delaying things. The young Emperor Horace hadn’t rejected the patent proposal either, but there were urgent matters in Hoyt that needed attention. As a Federation Marshal, Alfonso couldn’t afford to waste more time here.
He approached Hosea several times, but Hosea kept telling him to wait. Now he strongly suspected that Prince Hosea, who was unable to win Ji Chong’s love, was unwilling to help facilitate the cooperation on the Space Key patent technology.
After thinking it over, he thought of Ji Chong’s lover. Although they met, he couldn’t confirm their identity since they wore large sunglasses. However, since they could resolve the conflict between the Thornflower family and Ji Rong in just minutes and make them apologize, surely they must be able to meet with the Iron-Blooded Emperor.
Ji Chong: “…”
He really didn’t like the idea of his lover meeting Hoyt’s Alpha Emperor.
…
The next day.
Jiang Yuan entered Hoyt Spaceport with everyone else. The spaceport was packed with people.
By now, contestants from various countries had boarded their respective ships or were preparing to return home via interstellar routes. Just as they entered the spaceport, Jiang Yuan saw a familiar team.
It was the Lance Team, the runner-up in this competition.
The Lance Team members were carrying their luggage and talking quietly. When they saw the Federation team, they all twisted their lips and quickly turned away, leaving immediately as if they couldn’t stand to stay a moment longer.
“Ha! They’re leaving as soon as they see us?” Liu Shan burst out laughing and turned to Ji Rong. “Hey, Ji Rong, look what you’ve done. You’ve traumatized their entire team!”
Ji Rong shrugged, indicating there was nothing he could do about it.
“Okay, grab your things and prepare to board,” He Chuan said, rubbing his forehead.
Looking at these students, he felt somewhat helpless. Since Marshal Alfonso still had matters to attend to in Hoyt, most of the staff remained behind temporarily. As their instructor, he could only take these little brats back to Earth first.
For their return journey, they weren’t taking a military vessel but rather the interstellar ship “Princess of the Night.” This ship mainly traveled between Hoyt and Fashilan, passing through North Mali in between. After reaching Fashilan, they would need to board another pre-booked ship to return home.
What a hassle to get back.
He Chuan couldn’t help but complain internally. When they came to Hoyt, they only needed one small military vessel, which was permitted by Hoyt. If it hadn’t been for the two Marshals traveling with them, they probably would have had to take an interstellar passenger ship then too.
They boarded the ship. Just as Jiang Yuan entered his room and put down his luggage, his pheromone monitor beeped.
[Little O Reminder: Your pheromone levels are approaching peak values. Heat is predicted to occur in two days. Please remember to use suppressants.]
Jiang Yuan glanced at it and skillfully took out his carried suppressants to inject himself.
Although he’d been injecting suppressants these past few days, they weren’t very effective. The date predicted by the pheromone monitor was getting closer and closer. The suppressants only reduced his pheromone leakage, but Jiang Yuan suspected it was more because of his underdeveloped glands. Even though his heat was approaching, his leaked pheromones were pathetically weak. No Alphas around him could smell it.
Although he showed no signs of an Omega approaching heat, he clearly noticed lately that when he got close to Alphas, he was starting to find their pheromones pleasant.
Before, he had been completely insensitive to the pheromones of Gu Bai and others, but now he could keenly smell them. Ji Rong’s pheromones had a fatal attraction to him. Sometimes he really just wanted to hug Ji Rong and take a good whiff!
It was really… troublesome.
Jiang Yuan silently sighed and took out his luggage from his bag.
Looking at the condoms of different sizes in his hand, Jiang Yuan pulled open the bedside drawer and stuffed them inside.
After unpacking and having dinner with Ji Rong and the others, to avoid contact with Alphas that might stimulate his underdeveloped glands, Jiang Yuan returned to his room early to rest.
“Going back so early?” Liu Shan watched Jiang Yuan’s retreating figure and pouted. “What’s up with Jiang Yuan lately? Living like an old man?”
“There’s nothing fun to do on the ship anyway,” Gu Bai shrugged. “Might as well go back to the room.”
“True. I’m heading back too. I’m gonna video chat with my little cutie,” Liu Shan said with a smile.
Soon everyone left the dining hall, leaving Ji Rong standing there in a daze.
What was wrong with Jiang Yuan?
Lately, he’d been going straight back to his room after lunch and dinner, saying he was tired.
Was he still not feeling well after that hospital check-up?
Ji Rong was worried.
He hoped it was nothing serious.
But he couldn’t shake his concern.
Ji Rong quickly made his way to Jiang Yuan’s room, which was just next to his. As he was about to knock, he heard a shy voice.
“Um… um… hello!” A very pretty Omega, quite delicate-looking, spoke in a small voice, nervously wringing his hands.
Ji Rong frowned slightly because there was a rather pleasant scent in the air, somewhat like Omega pheromones, but different.
“Can I help you?” Out of politeness, Ji Rong looked at the pretty boy and asked.
“I-I’m Soxia, and I want to get to know you!” The boy gathered his courage, took a deep breath, and finally managed to state his purpose in one go.
Ji Rong shook his head. “Sorry, I’m not interested in dating right now, and you’re not my type.”
Seeing the other’s eyes turn red, Ji Rong knew Omegas were mostly sensitive and easily embarrassed. Although he’d been polite, the number of Omegas who’d cried in front of him was really… too many.
“I have something to do, I’ll head back first.” Ji Rong decided in a second to return to his room for now, so the boy in front of him wouldn’t feel too embarrassed about being rejected.
Ji Rong left Jiang Yuan’s doorway and turned directly to open the door next to it, leaving the boy in the hallway.
The boy stood there, confused, muttering quietly, “This shouldn’t be…”
The Omega who had been acting shy earlier finally cursed. “I just used Fatal Attraction perfume, why didn’t that handsome Alpha show any reaction? Wasn’t this perfume supposed to work on all Alphas?”
“Damn, did I buy a fake?”
Jiang Yuan in his room: …
Fatal Attraction?
To understand this world better, Jiang Yuan had browsed extensively on the interstellar network, and his AI Alphonse had recorded all the information about this perfume in his brain.
This perfume was extremely expensive, dubbed the “Alpha Killer.” Using a special formula, it mimicked Omega heat pheromones and could effectively attract Alpha attention. But since it wasn’t actual pheromones, it wouldn’t trigger Alpha aggression. It just made Omegas more attractive to Alphas.
Wasn’t this normal?
Back then, when Qiu Jingming went into heat, Ji Rong hadn’t been affected by the pheromones. No matter how powerful this perfume was, how could it compare to the pheromones emitted by an Omega in heat?
Jiang Yuan felt a bit sorry for the Omega outside.
But just as he finished feeling sympathetic, he started panicking!
Damn!
If Ji Rong could resist Qiu Jingming’s heat pheromones without being affected, would his Plan C even work?
At that point, he might have to force himself on Ji Rong… how could he pretend then?
No, no, no, he still had Plan B, maybe… he could tough it out…
Jiang Yuan tried to comfort himself but felt very uncertain. These past few days he’d been holed up in his room researching, and the more he read, the less confident he became.
…
The stars twinkled outside the window, the vast universe stretching endlessly.
The view outside the window was beautiful, but Jiang Yuan had no time to appreciate it now.
In the dim room.
Jiang Yuan’s white shirt was soaked with sweat, his handsome face tinged with pink. With his collar undone, his skin had taken on a slight redness.
Every inch of his skin was crying out, yearning to be touched.
Jiang Yuan endured it, gritting his teeth tightly, suppressing his desires.
But the feeling of anticipation came like waves, one after another, and his taut nerves could barely hold on anymore.
His inner craving for an Alpha was about to drive him crazy!
With trembling fingers, Jiang Yuan struggled to pick up the communicator from his bedside and shakily sent Ji Rong a message: Are you still in the hall?
Jiang Yuan: Could you bring me something to eat? I’m a bit hungry.
Ji Rong: Sure, what do you want?
The reply came quickly.
Jiang Yuan: Anything is fine.
Jiang Yuan struggled to get up from the floor, buttoning his shirt one button at a time, forcibly regulating his breathing to make his panting less intense.
At least…
He had to pretend.
A moment later, Ji Rong opened Jiang Yuan’s room door and froze. There was a sweet Omega pheromone scent in the air. Although it was not as strong as the perfume worn by the Omega who confessed to him days ago, he was certain this was the scent of Omega pheromones.
Ji Rong’s face suddenly stiffened.
The pheromone scent in the room wasn’t strong, but it was definitely there.
Although unaffected by pheromones, Ji Rong’s mind was already in chaos!
Seeing Ji Rong’s expression, Jiang Yuan steadied his breathing and quickly walked to the door, speaking in his usual tone, “Thanks, I didn’t eat enough at lunch and got hungry. Sorry for the trouble.”
The moment Jiang Yuan came close, Ji Rong’s mind exploded. The scent was coming from Jiang Yuan!
He was certain!
This was the scent that only appeared during an Omega’s heat.
The scent was faint but surprisingly enticing.
“Jiang Yuan, you…” Ji Rong’s voice trembled slightly as he closed the door behind him, “Your clothes are undone… are you hot?”
Jiang Yuan hummed an agreement, trying to keep his voice steady, “A bit.”
Ji Rong sniffed again, his eyes turning red, his whole body growing hot as he spoke in a low, hoarse voice, “Jiang Yuan, do you know you’re in heat?”
Of course he knew. Jiang Yuan gritted his teeth. Wasn’t this why he couldn’t hold back anymore? Damn!
Smelling Ji Rong’s pheromones, his body’s desire didn’t diminish but grew more intense. Ji Rong’s scent made his legs weak. If he wasn’t trying to keep up appearances, Jiang Yuan would have already collapsed into Ji Rong’s arms.
Jiang Yuan’s breathing became rapid, his voice trembling as his rationality neared its breaking point, “What did you say?”
His scent was too faint.
Compared to Qiu Jingming’s scent at the hotel last time, it was nothing. If Ji Rong could resist Qiu Jingming’s heat pheromones, his weak pheromones probably had no effect on Ji Rong at all.
Damn.
Would he really have to force himself on him…
Jiang Yuan caught the scent of Alpha pheromones in the air, now a hundred times stronger, and something like a wild beast roared inside him, urging him to pounce on and pin down the Alpha before him!
But Ji Rong moved faster than Jiang Yuan. He stepped forward, his slender fingers caressing Jiang Yuan’s cheek as he murmured his name.
The intense Alpha pheromones instantly enveloped him, and his instincts made him want to get closer, to take in more of that scent.
“Jiang Yuan, I want you,” Ji Rong said in a low voice, quickly undoing his own clothes to reveal his muscular chest, then lifting Jiang Yuan directly onto the bed.
“How… why are you…” Jiang Yuan’s voice trembled. Ji Rong seemed heavily affected by his pheromones, his eyes completely red. This shouldn’t be happening… his pheromones shouldn’t be able to affect Ji Rong…
But soon Jiang Yuan had no time to think as Ji Rong pinned him to the bed, their lips meeting, and the last traces of reason in his mind vanished without a trace.
