INT Chapter 12

What a Load of Crap

Lu Ze held his phone, pondering for a moment. He had just said he accidentally dropped his phone, and now should he say he accidentally choked on his saliva and accidentally sent it to you? That would be utterly stupid.

He sighed several times in succession. Mao Xin poked his head up from below again, persistently asking, “Weren’t you laughing happily just now? Why are you sighing again?”

Lu Ze pressed the phone against his chest, expressionlessly saying, “Get lost.”

Mao Xin looked at him with a smile, “I’ve prepared myself. I’m ready to return your banana.”

“Fuck…” Lu Ze immediately retreated towards the wall in disgust, “No need to return it, just stay away from me.”

Sun Zhuoyu, lying on the opposite bed, burst out laughing, “Maomao, stop asking. He can’t keep it a secret forever. We’ll find out sooner or later.”

“Ah, that’s true. Alright then.” Mao Xin sat back in his chair.

The phone pressed against Lu Ze’s chest vibrated twice. He picked it up to look. It was Liang Xiao replying: [Are you very sick?]

Grateful that Liang Xiao had given him a way out, Lu Ze was about to reply that it wasn’t serious when Liang Xiao sent another message: [You haven’t posted on Moments yet, right? Let me say it again.]

Lu Ze was stunned for two seconds before he understood what Liang Xiao meant to say again. He hurriedly stopped him: [No need, no need]

Lu Ze: [I just choked on water by accident and accidentally sent it to you…]

Lu Ze: [Actually, I’m all better now]

Liang Xiao: [Mm]

Seeing this “Mm,” Lu Ze knew the conversation was over. When Liang Xiao mentioned Moments earlier, he felt a bit guilty. He wasn’t sure if Liang Xiao would specifically check if he had posted on Moments. If he checked and saw nothing posted, it would be quite embarrassing, making it seem like he was deceiving Liang Xiao, or Liang Xiao might think he had been blocked.

After much deliberation, Lu Ze decided to post something, visible only to Liang Xiao.

He squinted as he scrolled up through their chat history, quickly stopping when he saw “Have you gone to sleep, baby.” He moved his gaze elsewhere, took a screenshot, then squinted again as he cropped it, not daring to look at the content of the screenshot.

When posting on Moments, he first carefully selected who could see it, double-checking twice, then pondered over the caption.

Having been in so many relationships, Lu Ze was usually very skilled and adept at these things. If he were announcing a girlfriend, he could think of ten captions in a minute. But for a boyfriend… he wasn’t as practiced.

He wondered how Liang Xiao, who previously had no male clients, could send messages so smoothly. Perhaps after doing this job for a long time, one becomes indifferent, like the scrubbers in bathhouses who see everyone the same.

Unable to think of a caption, Lu Ze reluctantly glanced at the few sentences in the small image, once again getting goosebumps. He finally squeezed out a caption: [Good night, weather forecast]

After typing these words, he kept frowning, reading them over and over. It felt awkward no matter how he looked at it, feeling like he was acting “gay.”

Whatever, just post it. You’re gay now anyway.

Lu Ze closed his eyes, steeled himself, and tapped the green “Post” button. Then he quickly exited WeChat. Wanting to sleep but unable to due to his racing thoughts, he could only aimlessly tap around on his phone.

Somehow, Lu Ze clicked on the weather app. He was about to exit when he remembered Liang Xiao’s words “It’s going to rain and get colder tomorrow,” so his finger hovered over the screen as he carefully checked tomorrow’s temperature.

Indeed, it wasn’t just a casual remark; it was actually the weather forecast.

“It’s going to rain tomorrow,” Lu Ze said, “and it’ll get colder, so dress warmly.”

“No way, Ze-ge, you’re stealing my job,” Mao Xin said, “Since when did you start paying attention to this?”

Lu Ze clicked his tongue, “I just happened to see it. Besides, you’re not doing a good job with the weather forecast if you didn’t know it was going to rain tomorrow.”

“I haven’t had a chance to check today…”

Sun Zhuoyu whistled, “Master, why does this sound so familiar? It’s like what you taught me when I was pursuing someone.”

Lu Ze glanced at him, and Sun Zhuoyu asked, “You’re not telling us because it hasn’t worked out yet, right?”

Good excuse.

“Remember when I just broke up with Han Jing a few days ago?”

Sun Zhuoyu nodded, “I remember.”

Lu Ze turned his back to him, “Am I the type to move on seamlessly? It’s not happening. Let’s sleep, be quiet.”

When Liang Xiao saw Lu Ze’s Moments post, he was stunned for a moment. Wasn’t Lu Ze’s contact name for him “Liang Xiao”? What was this “Tanrou can’t handle it” about?

He stared at this contact name for two seconds, slightly curling his lips, and liked Lu Ze’s post.

“What are you smiling about?” Jiang Heng leaned against the bar, holding a glass of wine between his thumb and index finger.

Liang Xiao put away his phone and looked up at him, “I just transferred 30,000 to you.”

“Got it,” Jiang Heng said, “When was the last time you transferred money to me? It hasn’t even been a month, right? Earning so much?”

“Yeah, I’ve had quite a lot of work recently,” Liang Xiao said, “And the clients have been generous.”

Jiang Heng clicked his tongue, finished the wine in his glass, and pushed the empty glass to him, “Fool. If you earn any faster, I’ll suspect you’ve sold yourself.”

Liang Xiao lowered his head, focusing on mixing a drink, “If I sold myself, I should be able to earn even more.”

Jiang Heng laughed, staring at Liang Xiao’s face, “If you’re willing to sell yourself, you could pay me back in no time. Today, another rich lady asked me for your phone number.”

Liang Xiao didn’t respond, and Jiang Heng rested his elbow on the bar, “Why aren’t you asking if I gave it to her?”

“I guess you gave her yours,” Liang Xiao said.

Jiang Heng snapped his fingers, “You guessed right.”

Liang Xiao suddenly looked up at him, Jiang Heng raised an eyebrow, and Liang Xiao pushed the mixed “Fool” cocktail to him.

Jiang Heng took a sip and said, “Why don’t you come be my bartender? Somehow it tastes better than when Ah Qing makes it.”

“I just mixed it casually,” Liang Xiao said.

“I’m being serious,” Jiang Heng said, putting down his wine glass and tapping the counter rhythmically. “If you work as my bartender, you’d make a decent amount of money. No need to entertain clients, and you’d help me attract more customers. The only downside is the irregular hours.”

“You already attract plenty of customers,” Liang Xiao replied. “I’ll just help out occasionally.”

Jiang Heng clicked his tongue. “You help out, but you won’t even take the salary I offer.”

Liang Xiao smiled faintly. “Consider it interest.”

“Brother Heng,” a woman in a short leather skirt walked over. “Is he the new bartender?”

“No,” Jiang Heng said. “He’s a friend, just helping out today.”

“Your friend is even more handsome than you,” the woman said, staring intently at Liang Xiao. “He’s my type.”

Jiang Heng wasn’t annoyed by her comment; instead, he smirked mischievously. “Then why don’t you try pursuing him?”

“Sure,” she leaned against the bar, her low neckline leaving little to the imagination. “Handsome guy, can you make me a drink?”

Liang Xiao had already dropped his smile and asked expressionlessly, “What would you like to drink?”

The woman blinked flirtatiously. “I’ll leave it up to you. Whatever you make, I’ll drink.”

Without saying another word, Liang Xiao began mixing a drink with swift and precise movements. The woman turned to smile at Jiang Heng, who shook his head helplessly.

Liang Xiao was simply someone no one could flirt with.

When Liang Xiao finished making the drink and pushed it toward her, she smiled and said, “It looks beautiful. I like it. What’s it called?”

Only then did Liang Xiao glance at her and reply indifferently, “Blind Man.”

After she left in frustration, Jiang Heng laughed for quite a while beside him. Liang Xiao sighed and said, “This is exactly why I don’t want to work for you.”

Jiang Heng picked up his unfinished drink, “Fool”, and clinked glasses with him. “Come on, Blind Man, cheers!”
