LPLFDA Chapter 13

Luckily, there was a floor mat under the car seat, so Feng Yuan didn’t fall too hard. But his chubby little face scraped against the seat, and his small body was stuck, unable to stand up at all.

“Big Daddy, Big Daddy, save Yuan Yuan!”

Feng Yuan, who had fallen onto the mat and couldn’t get up, tugged hard at Li Sheng’s pant leg with his chubby little hand.

Li Sheng looked at his son’s comical, stuck posture and was just about to raise an eyebrow when, suddenly, he noticed a mark on the little face, scraped by the seat, like the skin had broken.

In an instant, Li Sheng’s expression froze. His large hand swiftly scooped his son up.

Being lifted up, Feng Yuan sat on Li Sheng’s lap, puffed up in anger.

Li Sheng ignored his sulky look and first cupped his little face, carefully examining the scraped skin.

Fortunately, it wasn’t broken.

Feng Yuan was small and tender; a bump or scrape could easily leave his skin red, or even broken and bleeding.

Li Sheng furrowed his brows, inwardly blaming himself for letting his grip slip just now.

Such a small child, brimming with energy, wouldn’t stay still for even a second.

He should have kept a tighter watch.

“Does your face hurt?” Li Sheng didn’t dare touch the reddened spot, which was just a little below the corner of his eye.

Feng Yuan lifted his small hand, wanting to touch it.

Before he could, Li Sheng caught his hand.

“It hurts a little.”

Feng Yuan tilted up his chubby little face and answered earnestly, “Yuan Yuan won’t cry.”

This little bit of pain, he wouldn’t cry!

Li Sheng lowered his eyes, looking at his son’s upturned face. For some reason, his chest swelled with a strange fullness.

Toward Feng Yuan, he was, inexplicably, developing more and more of a sense of responsibility.

His role as Feng Yuan’s father also seemed to be becoming more and more natural to him.

This was far beyond Li Sheng’s expectations.

Clearly, before Feng Yuan appeared, Li Sheng himself had thought that someone like him would never form any sort of bond with anyone.

“Big Daddy!”

Sensing that Li Sheng was a little distracted, Feng Yuan stopped puffing his cheeks. Stepping on Li Sheng’s thigh, he stood up again: “Have we arrived at the mall yet?”

“Young Master, we’ve arrived. Once I park the car, you’ll be able to go shopping in the mall,” the driver in the front seat replied to Feng Yuan’s words.

It was Feng Yuan’s first time visiting this big mall.

Excitement flushed his little face red, and his pair of glossy, beautiful dark eyes seemed to sparkle with light.

“Big Daddy.”

He wrapped his arms around Li Sheng’s neck, so happy he almost couldn’t stand still. “What does it look like inside the mall?!”

Li Sheng: “You’ll see in a moment.”

Very soon, the driver parked the car.

Li Sheng carried Feng Yuan and got out. One big, one small. No one followed behind them.

From the moment they reached the mall entrance, Feng Yuan’s eyes weren’t enough to take everything in.

At the entrance, there were many small stalls. Some sell balloons, some sell grilled sausages and fried meatballs, and even some sell kittens and puppies.

There were a lot of people at the entrance.

Feng Yuan clung to his daddy’s neck, glancing east one moment, west the next.

Once they entered the mall, Feng Yuan let out a loud “Waaah!”

“So big!”

“So beautiful!”

This was the most high-end mall in the city center; its luxurious interior went without saying.

For Feng Yuan, who was just a little bumpkin who used to scavenge on Peanut Street, the sight of the grand mall dazzled him completely.

His loud words of praise for the mall reached the ears of people nearby, and quite a few couldn’t resist looking over.

Li Sheng treated these glances as if they didn’t exist.

Holding the little one in his arms, he went straight to the third floor by elevator.

Although this mall belonged to the Li family, it was actually Li Sheng’s first time strolling around to shop like this.

In the past, whenever he needed something, his personal assistant would directly deliver it to his home.

The third floor was the children’s section. Its decorations and layout were designed entirely with kids’ preferences in mind, filled with bright, vivid colors.

As soon as they arrived on the third floor, Feng Yuan refused to let Li Sheng carry him any longer.

He got down on his own, waddling forward on his two chubby little legs, dashing ahead by himself.

Li Sheng pulled out his phone, comparing it with the list of children’s products and brand names that his assistant had sent him.

“Gu Lu Lu Kids’ Shoes…”

Li Sheng glanced at the phone, then at the shop names around him.

Not only did he have to find the store, he also had to occasionally yank Feng Yuan back whenever he ran too far.

“Don’t run around.”

Li Sheng grabbed Feng Yuan by the collar and carried him into the Gu Lu Lu Kids’ Shoes store.

Inside, the store was filled with shelves of children’s shoes—every style imaginable.

Li Sheng personally stood before the shoe racks, picking them out one by one.

The list from his assistant not only included all the well-known brands but also had many detailed notes, such as which types of shoes were suitable for children to wear, and which types absolutely shouldn’t be given to them.

Li Sheng read through these notes carefully, then continued choosing.

A shop assistant walked over, intending to help him pick, but he declined.

After quite a while, Li Sheng finally selected a few pairs of lightweight, breathable little shoes.

“Yuan Yuan, come here.”

Holding the shoes, Li Sheng called over Feng Yuan, who was standing at the store entrance staring at the kiddie rides. “Try on the new shoes.”

Feng Yuan patted the kiddie ride with his chubby little hand, then turned and ran over.

He ran up to Li Sheng, who lifted him and sat him down on the sofa.

Li Sheng showed him several pairs of little shoes and asked, “Do you like them?”

Feng Yuan nodded hard. “I like them!”

These few pairs of little shoes were all very nicely designed.

Feng Yuan wiggled his chubby little feet, eager to change into the new shoes.

Li Sheng squatted in front of him, took off his worn-out shoes with the torn toe, wiped the sweat off his soles, and then slipped on the new shoes.

“Get down and walk around, see if they’re comfortable.”

“Comfortable!”

After only a couple of steps, Feng Yuan happily said, “Yuan Yuan likes these new shoes!”

Seeing his son so delighted, the coldness on Li Sheng’s usually stern face finally softened a little.

“Try the next pair.”

As he spoke, Li Sheng picked him up again and had him change into the next pair.

They tried several pairs in a row. One was a little tight in the front and didn’t fit well, but the rest were all fine.

Li Sheng chose the pair his son liked the most, the little sandals that lit up. He put them directly on Feng Yuan’s feet, letting him walk around in them.

After buying children’s shoes at Gu Lu Lu, Li Sheng went to other brand stores and bought two more pairs.

Shoes done, next came clothes.

At first, Feng Yuan was quite happy trying things on, but children’s patience was limited. After trying for a while, Feng Yuan didn’t want to anymore.

He was already wearing new clothes and new shoes, yet Big Daddy still wanted to keep shopping in the store.

“Yuan Yuan doesn’t want to buy anymore. Yuan Yuan wants to go play outside.”

Unwilling to stay in the store any longer, Feng Yuan voiced his request to his daddy.

He had already spotted the amusement park in the northwest corner. Inside, there was even a beautiful little castle!

Yuan Yuan wanted to go play in the little castle.

Li Sheng, carrying several shopping bags, looked at his son who was eager to run off. After a few seconds of thought, he brought him to the amusement park.

The amusement park was very large. Some areas were crowded with kids, while others had only a few.

A staff member explained to Li Sheng, “Area A is the standard zone, 68 yuan for a whole day. Area B is 108 for a day. Area C has the more expensive facilities, at 208 per hour. But if you buy a ticket for Area C, you can play throughout the whole park.”

Hearing this, Li Sheng didn’t hesitate and bought the Area C ticket.

He took off Feng Yuan’s little shoes and let him in.

As soon as he entered, Feng Yuan burst into pure joy, hopping and bouncing everywhere.

Trampolines, little swings, climbing tunnels, and all the curious toys inside the Area C little castle.

Feng Yuan had never played with anything so fun in his life!

After playing for a while, Feng Yuan’s hair was tousled into a messy fluff, his little face flushed red, and his forehead covered in sweat.

Li Sheng called out to him twice, wanting to bring him over to wipe his sweat.

But the little one, having gone wild with play, didn’t hear Big Daddy’s voice at all.

He ran around, naturally mingling and playing noisily with the other kids inside.

After watching for a moment, Li Sheng purchased a private caretaker package from the nearby staff.

The staff would keep an eye on Feng Yuan and ensure his safety.

As for Li Sheng himself, he planned to go buy some more things.

“Sir, don’t worry! We’ll definitely keep a close watch on your child!”

The staff smiled, sending Li Sheng off with a grin. As soon as Li Sheng left, he dutifully kept his eyes on Feng Yuan not far away.

Among the group of children, Feng Yuan still stood out.

Out of all of them, he was the most beautiful.

Li Sheng returned to the store and bought some children’s toys, then, afterward, he went downstairs to the second floor.

Feng Qi’s clothes were all cheap ones.

Li Sheng had noticed before that even when his clothes came apart at the seams, he still hadn’t been willing to throw them away.

One by one, Li Sheng visited multiple stores on the second and third floors.

Meanwhile, inside the little castle, not long after Li Sheng left, Feng Yuan stirred up trouble.

He waved his tiny fists and hit someone. Not just one person, but more than one!

The kids Feng Yuan had punched were all bigger than him.

When Feng Yuan came charging at them with his little fists, they froze for a moment, stunned, not reacting right away.

But once they did react, they grew furious, surrounding Feng Yuan and hitting and kicking him.

The staff member watching nearby felt his head ache from the scene.

He rushed forward, trying to stop what was happening.

But a scuffle involving several children wasn’t something he could handle alone.

“Someone! Quick, come help! Separate them!”

The staff member shouted loudly: “Don’t let them fight!!!”

These children playing inside the castle were all dressed head to toe in designer brands.

If any of them got hurt, his own job would be as good as gone.

The staff joined forces with his coworkers, each pulling one child away, and finally managed to get the situation under control.

Meanwhile, the parents and nannies waiting outside had already climbed in. As soon as they entered, they demanded, “What happened? How did they start fighting?!”

“It was you. I saw it. It was your kid who hit my son.”

One fiercely protective parent fixed sharp eyes on Feng Yuan.

Thinking of how his own son had just been beaten, his anger flared. He rushed forward, ready to slap Feng Yuan’s face.

But the female staff member holding Feng Yuan suddenly blocked the blow just as the hand came down.

Her own back took the heavy slap. The searing pain instantly brought tears to her eyes.

Even so, she didn’t cry.

She was only thankful that she had managed to block it. Otherwise, if the child in her arms had taken that blow, it would have been a serious problem.

“Parent, please calm down first. Let’s resolve this matter properly.”

All the other children there had their parents present. Only Feng Yuan’s parent wasn’t around.

The young woman protecting him held him tightly, terrified that another impulsive parent might come over to hit him.

When the situation finally calmed down, the children started tattling.

Although those kids had indeed taken several solid punches, they had fought back as well.

Feng Yuan’s chin and arm were both scratched and bleeding.

The children called Feng Yuan a little lunatic.

Feng Yuan grew angry too: “It was you who started cursing first. You cursed Qin Xun!”

Feng Yuan was never the type of child with violent tendencies.

The reason he had hit them earlier was because these children mocked Qin Xun for not having a dad or mom, saying Qin Xun was a jinx who had caused his parents’ deaths.

They even said that when school started next month, they were going to bully Qin Xun.

They had already come up with all sorts of ways, like locking Qin Xun in the bathroom, putting bugs in his pencil case, and peeing on his blanket.

One of the children even said he would push Qin Xun into the water.

Feng Yuan had only lost his patience and rushed over to hit them because he couldn’t stand listening anymore.

“So in the end, you were venting anger for that little jinx Qin Xun, huh?”

The parent who had tried to hit Feng Yuan but failed sneered after hearing the reason, not feeling at all that his own son was in the wrong. “Let me tell you, my son bullying that Qin brat—the little jinx—what does that have to do with you?”

“I’m telling you, you’d better apologize to my son right now, or else this matter won’t end peacefully today.”

That man’s son was the precious darling of their whole family, spoiled from top to bottom.

Even if he got just a little scrape, the whole family would ache with heartache.

Now that his son had been hit, if he didn’t help his son vent his anger, his family at home would never let it go.

But Feng Yuan felt he hadn’t done anything wrong.

Compared to the things these bad kids had planned, he thought his punches earlier had actually been too light.

The other parents looked at Feng Yuan with cold gazes, not saying anything.

They were waiting for the man to take the lead.

One parent even took out a phone and snapped photos of Feng Yuan, though no one knew for what purpose.

Feng Yuan stubbornly lifted his little head, lips pressed tightly together.

He refused to apologize.

The group of parents gradually lost patience, and the man set his own son down.

“Mingming, go. However he hit you, hit him back the same way.”

“If he dares to resist, Daddy will deal with him personally.”

Pushed forward by his father, Mingming looked at Feng Yuan’s pretty little face. His clenched fist showed no mercy at all.

“Who do you think you are, trying to help Qin Xun?”

“When school starts, we’ll bully Qin Xun to death.”

As Mingming spoke, he raised his fist, ready to hit.

But the young woman holding Feng Yuan was restrained by the man pressing down on her shoulder, not allowing her to move.

At that critical moment, the young woman gritted her teeth and suddenly let go.

She set Feng Yuan down.

Feng Yuan was quick-witted.

Since both the kids and adults wanted to bully him, he ran off on his short little legs.

“Daddy! Daddy!”

While running, Feng Yuan called out for Li Sheng. This time, he didn’t shout “Big Daddy” anymore. He only kept crying for “Daddy.”

But his pair of short legs couldn’t outrun the adults chasing behind.

Just as a large hand from behind grabbed him and lifted him up, Li Sheng’s figure finally came into his sight not far away.

The instant he saw Li Sheng, Feng Yuan kicked his chubby little legs in midair and burst into loud sobs.

“Daddy, Daddy, save Yuan Yuan!”

His cries reached Li Sheng’s ears just as he stepped onto the floor.

Li Sheng’s expression hardened. He followed the direction of the cries.

When he clearly saw Feng Yuan being held up by someone, he strode over quickly.

“Daddy, Daddy, hold me.”

Feng Yuan was still calling for Li Sheng, not noticing that Mingming’s father was maliciously shaking his chubby little body in his hand.

“Calling Daddy? Even if you call Grandpa today, it’s useless. Do you think you can afford to provoke my son, the son of Fang Juetian?”

Fang Juetian, still arrogant in protecting his child, spoke smugly.

But in the very next second, he saw Li Sheng approaching.

The instant he recognized him, Fang Juetian’s expression faltered.

He even suspected that he was hallucinating.

“L–Li, President Li?”

Fang Juetian couldn’t believe he was actually running into Li Sheng at a mall.

After all, Li Sheng’s daily schedule was never made public.

Looking at Li Sheng, his face quickly shifted to one of eager opportunism. “President Li, I’m Fang Juetian. I run a foreign trade company…”

But before he could finish introducing himself, Li Sheng’s cold face darkened, and he snatched away the child being held in his hand.

Finally back in his father’s arms, Feng Yuan buried his tear-streaked little face into Li Sheng’s neck.

His pitiful, milky sobs came in shaky gasps.

“Big Daddy, why didn’t you watch Yuan Yuan!”

Feng Yuan thought of how all the other parents had rushed over just now, but only his own Big Daddy hadn’t been there.

The more he thought about it, the sadder he became.

Li Sheng hadn’t expected that in the short moment he went to buy something, Feng Yuan would run into such an incident.

He lifted his hand, gently patting Feng Yuan’s back to soothe him as he walked toward the amusement park’s service desk.

The staff immediately pulled up the surveillance footage.

The cameras had both sound and video.

As Li Sheng watched Fang Juetian’s hand slap toward Feng Yuan in the footage, his eyes turned icy and murderous.

Following behind him, ever since Feng Yuan had first cried out “Daddy”, Fang Juetian’s back had already been drenched in cold sweat.

Now, seeing the surveillance recording, his legs nearly gave out beneath him.

“President Li, it was a misunderstanding! I truly didn’t know this was your child!”

Fang Juetian kept explaining nonstop. The other parents, while relieved that they hadn’t gone as far as Fang Juetian, quickly followed along with apologies.

They apologized, but seeing that Li Sheng’s face remained cold as ever, they were perfectly clear in their hearts.

These apologies, Li Sheng would not accept.

In that moment, the adults who had been so aggressive in protecting their own children just now regretted it deeply.

They all knew their kids had a habit of bullying others.

But this was the first time their children had kicked an iron wall.

“Daddy, Yuan Yuan’s arm hurts.”

Nestled in Li Sheng’s arms, Feng Yuan sniffled and lifted his plump, fair little arm.

Holding him with one arm, Li Sheng gently touched his arm with the other.

The moment he touched it, Feng Yuan sniffled and shrank away.

“I’ll take you to the hospital.”

Li Sheng spoke in a low voice, then turned and left with his son in his arms.

Before leaving, however, he took the surveillance footage with him.

That move made several of the parents’ faces go pale.

“What does President Li mean by this?”

After Li Sheng had walked some distance away, one of them finally stammered out, “He took the footage. Does that mean he’s planning to settle accounts with us one by one?”

“How could Li Sheng have a son? He doesn’t even have a wife. How could he have a child? Something’s not right. I’ll go ask Li Ting about it. My brother-in-law is friends with Li Ting.”

One of them, who knew Li Ting, steadied his nerves a bit at that thought and went home with his child.

The other parents didn’t leave. They looked at each other, each wondering how they should handle this matter.

While they remained standing there, Feng Yuan was already sitting in the car.

Li Sheng looked at his little chin and arm. His chest filled with a heavy, suffocating weight.

“Were you really scared just now?”

Feng Yuan sat on his lap, shaking his head, then nodding.

“I wasn’t scared when fighting.”

“But when the adults wanted to bully Yuan Yuan, Yuan Yuan was scared.”

“When I saw Daddy, I wasn’t scared anymore.”

After he said this, Li Sheng suddenly tightened his hold around the small body in his arms.

Father and son sat in the car heading toward the hospital. At the same time, inside the hospital, Li Ting had already woken up.

Having just woken not long ago, Li Ting was staring at the new messages on his phone.

Two particular messages made him read them over and over for quite a while.

One was an address sent by Luo Pu.

The other was a question. Did he know that Li Sheng had a son?

“Li Sheng’s son…”

Fixing his eyes on those few words, Li Ting maliciously thought up a hundred ways to scare that little fellow into tears.

When he was little, Li Sheng had made him suffer plenty.
