LPLFDA Chapter 39

The sound of footsteps came to the door and stopped.

Feng Yuan’s chubby little hands were holding up a tray of food, piled high with dishes. He had been carrying it for a while already. Now, it was getting hard to hold on.

“Little aunt, open the door, please!”

The round little helper was still calling out, his two small hands trembling unsteadily.

Just before the tray of food was about to completely slip from his grip, the door in front of Feng Yuan creaked open at last.

When the door opened, a woman in a green silk camisole dress appeared before Feng Yuan’s eyes.

Her features were deep and sharp, her pair of eyes very similar to Li Sheng’s. She had an excellent figure—slender overall, yet with fullness exactly where it should be.

That face, that body, and the clearly unstable mental state visible to the naked eye. At a glance, she was unmistakably a member of the Li family, a direct one, without question.

The woman lowered her eyes to size up Feng Yuan, while Feng Yuan looked back at her.

Big and small, their gazes met. Feng Yuan stared into the woman’s eyes without blinking, a surge of intimacy welling up in his heart.

“Hel… Hello!”

Polite yet socially bold, Feng Yuan took the initiative to raise a smiling face.

Holding the food tray, he went straight into the room.

As soon as he entered, he found a table and set the tray down.

After putting it down, Feng Yuan looked at his chubby little hands…

They were trembling a bit!

He stared at them for two seconds. Seeing he couldn’t control them for now, he stuffed his chubby hands into his pockets, pretending to be cool.

“Today’s food is delicious, you know. The chicken drumsticks and wings smell so good.”

After coming in, Feng Yuan didn’t leave.

He stood next to the table, looking exactly like a little helper, introducing the dishes to Li Wei.

When he finished, he pulled one little hand out of his pocket, patted a chair, and signaled for Li Wei to sit.

Li Wei didn’t sit.

Dark circles were clearly visible beneath her eyes, her eye sockets deeply sunken. Her face carried a grayish pallor, along with a faintly hidden, almost undetectable madness.

Her gaze locked onto Feng Yuan. If anyone else had seen it, they would surely have felt their hair stand on end, wishing they could flee on the spot.

But Feng Yuan didn’t run.

He wasn’t even afraid.

He could see that something was wrong with his aunt. Even more, he could see the dark mist curling all around her.

That indistinct, unidentifiable black mist made Feng Yuan sneeze.

After sneezing, his little face turned as red as a tomato.

He felt a little embarrassed.

“Yuan Yuan didn’t sneeze on the food.”

With his tomato-red little face, Feng Yuan softly explained, “The food is still okay to eat.”

“…What did you just call me?”

Li Wei, who had been restless and had just smashed everything in the room before Feng Yuan came in, spoke with a cool voice tinged with hoarseness.

Feng Yuan froze, his little face going blank at her question.

Oh no.

While pretending to be a little helper, he had accidentally called her “little aunt”!

The little one who gave himself away panicked inside. His small face showed the same panic.

He was so flustered that he couldn’t even get words out.

Li Wei narrowed her eyes and, without warning, crouched down.

She leaned close to Feng Yuan’s face.

The moment she leaned in, Feng Yuan caught the scent of fresh blood coming from her.

Before he could figure out where that blood smell was coming from, Li Wei had already cupped his face.

“Whose child are you? Li Sheng’s, or Li Ting’s?”

“They actually sent a child over here.”

Li Wei muttered, her words disjointed and incoherent.

Her eyes, which hadn’t seemed very clear to begin with, gradually turned dangerous.

Her voice sounded almost like it was trying to entice him.

“Little one, do you like playing games? There’s an illusion game. Do you want to play it?”

Feng Yuan, his chubby cheeks cupped in her hands, looked up at his aunt with wide eyes. He nodded, then shook his head.

Li Wei was momentarily stunned by this rare reaction of both nodding and shaking his head.

She narrowed her eyes. “So do you want to play or not?”

Feng Yuan raised his hand, wrapped it around hers, and softly said, “Yuan Yuan has never played this game before. If Little Aunt wants Yuan Yuan to play, Yuan Yuan will play with Little Aunt.”

“Alright, you’ll play with me.”

Li Wei only caught the words she wanted to hear.

She turned her hand and grasped Feng Yuan’s chubby little one, not sparing a glance at the food nearby.

She directly pulled Feng Yuan into her bedroom.

The bedroom floor was a complete mess.

Many things had been smashed to the ground. Fortunately, among the shattered things, there were no glass or porcelain items.

There were also some sharp objects, but it was as if someone had deliberately taken them all away.

Feng Yuan didn’t see any dangerous items.

But the moment he was pulled into the bathroom, the sight of a large bathtub made his heart skip a beat.

The water inside the bathtub was pink—dyed pink with blood!

Beside the tub lay a broken toothbrush.

The toothbrush had been snapped in two, exposing jagged edges.

On one of those broken edges, there was blood as well.

Li Wei let go of Feng Yuan’s hand, bent down, and picked up the toothbrush handle.

Then she sat back in the bathtub.

“Come.”

She handed the toothbrush handle to Feng Yuan, then stretched out her own wrist: “Cut down. Cut down, and you’ll never have to see all kinds of illusions again.”

“This feeling… It’s so comfortable.”

Li Wei’s words were strange and frightening, but Feng Yuan wasn’t scared off in the least.

He could smell the scent clinging to his little aunt. He could also see a mass of black mist.

Looking at his self-harming little aunt, his small head instantly understood her intention.

That unknown black mist was disturbing her emotions, and she was using pain to fight back against its influence.

She needed pain to stay clear-headed.

When the toothbrush handle she handed over remained untouched in the child’s hands, Li Wei suddenly lost all patience.

“Get out!”

“Don’t stand here getting in my way!”

“If you don’t get out, I’ll kill you!”

Li Wei’s face changed in an instant, without the slightest warning.

Hearing her furious words, Feng Yuan lifted his little face and finally took the toothbrush handle.

But after taking it, he did not use it on her wrist the way Li Wei wanted.

With a plop, Feng Yuan tossed the toothbrush handle into the trash bin.

Li Wei: “?”

After throwing it away, Feng Yuan reached out to hold Li Wei’s hand.

He lowered his head and began blowing gently over her wrist, which was marred with terrible wounds.

Whenever he got bumps and bruises, Dad and Qin Xun would do this for him—blow on them.

The warmth, like the soft brush of feathers, traveled from the skin straight into the brain.

Li Wei trembled slightly.

When Feng Yuan finished blowing, he pulled a medicated patch out of his pocket.

It looked like a regular band-aid, but inside it was quite different.

This patch was infused with medicine and could heal external injuries.

Feng Yuan was an active child. Getting little injuries every now and then was just part of everyday life.

Every time Li Sheng saw his son come home with fresh wounds, he would fall into wordless silence.

He had reminded his son countless times to be more careful. But this little one always treated his words like wind passing by his ears.

Whenever his son got hurt, as a father, Li Sheng would keep his face expressionless, but at night, he would hold Feng Qi in his arms, his heart aching so much he couldn’t sleep well.

Spurred on by the constant sight of his son coming home injured, Li Sheng personally went to the pharmaceutical factory under the Li Corporation.

With his direct push, the medicated patches Feng Yuan now carried were created.

These patches were lightweight, easy to carry, and filled with the finest medicine for external injuries.

Every pocket in Feng Yuan’s clothing carried these patches.

“Little Aunt, if you put this on, it won’t hurt after a while.”

Now completely exposed, Feng Yuan kept calling her Little Aunt while carefully applying the patch to her.

The effect of the patch was swift.

Li Wei’s wrist, which had been throbbing with pain, quickly felt its ache subside.

After finishing, Feng Yuan coaxed her the way one would coax a child.

“Little Aunt, the water’s cold now. You can’t keep soaking in the bath. Let’s go eat, okay?”

Feng Yuan’s soft, milky voice fell into Li Wei’s ears—

For the first time, without relying on pain, she seemed to feel a trace of peace.

Feng Yuan’s little hand tugged at hers, pulling her out of the bathtub.

They came to the wardrobe in the bedroom.

Feng Yuan even picked out a piece of clothing.

“Little Aunt, wear this one! It’s the same color as Yuan Yuan’s!”

Today, Feng Yuan was dressed in a light green T-shirt with matching shorts. The dress he picked for his little aunt was also green.

Li Wei looked at him. This time, no harsh words left her lips.

She took the clothes and began changing.

When Feng Yuan saw her changing right in front of him, he quickly covered his eyes.

“Little Aunt, Yuan Yuan isn’t looking! You go ahead and change!”

Dad had said before, there’s a difference between men and women. Boys mustn’t watch girls change clothes!

Very gentlemanly, Feng Yuan kept his eyes covered until Li Wei finished changing clothes. Only then did he pry open his little hands.

Aunt and nephew stood facing each other.

Feng Yuan’s eyes curved as he praised, “Little Aunt looks so pretty in this dress!”

Li Wei was beautiful and had a fine figure. Whatever clothes she wore, she would always look stunning.

Perhaps it was the effect of Feng Yuan’s company, but Li Wei’s mental state was slowly settling down at this moment.

The agitation in her heart was soothed by an invisible aura.

The tormenting false awakenings and the frequent hallucinations gradually faded away.

Feng Yuan, however, wasn’t aware of his little aunt’s change.

Seeing that she had finished changing, he held her hand and led her to eat.

The tray Feng Yuan had carried over had a built-in temperature control.

So, even though some time had passed since it was brought, the food inside had not gone cold.

Feng Yuan wasn’t very skilled with chopsticks, so he chose to use a spoon instead.

“Little Aunt, ah, open your mouth.”

Feng Yuan, who was always the one being fed, this time took the initiative to feed his little aunt.

Her wrist was injured. Feng Yuan was worried it would hurt if she lifted her hand.

While feeding, the little cub even puckered his lips and touched the spoon first, testing whether the food was too hot.

Such a gesture, if seen by someone with a cleanliness obsession, might draw disdain.

But the little cub himself didn’t know this might be disliked. After all, that was exactly how his dad used to feed him.

When he was younger, he was afraid of hot food. If the temperature was even a little too high, he would spit it out from being burned.

To help him eat properly, Feng Qi always tested the food’s temperature before feeding him.

“Little Aunt, this dish is yummy. Yuan Yuan already tried it.”

Seeing his little aunt not open her mouth, Feng Yuan explained deliberately.

Under Feng Yuan’s persistent feeding, Li Wei’s eyes dimmed slightly. But at last, she opened her mouth.

Feng Yuan hurriedly scooped up a big spoonful of rice mixed with vegetables and fed it to her.

“Little Aunt, you’re amazing!”

While feeding her, Feng Yuan didn’t forget to shower her with rainbow praises.

He kept complimenting his little aunt for eating properly, his little mouth chattering nonstop.

After finishing a bowl of rice, Li Wei didn’t eat any more.

Feng Yuan set the bowl down, then reached out his little hand to pat her belly through her clothes.

He felt that his little aunt’s stomach seemed a bit round.

That must mean she was full!

“Little Aunt, after eating, you have to move around a little.”

Feng Yuan wouldn’t let his little aunt just sit down right after eating. That wasn’t good for the body.

And conveniently, the room was messy.

With a wave of his chubby little hand, he made the plan: “Let’s clean up the room! Once we finish, we can take a nap!”

Li Wei’s room was in utter chaos.

Feng Yuan was a little one who knew how to work. He took the lead in tidying up the chores.

“Little Aunt, I’ll pick things up, you sweep the floor, okay?”

He called out to his little aunt and even assigned her a task.

Li Wei, who had been locked in the room for a long time, stared blankly at the little cub bustling about inside.

How strange.

Her urge to destroy, her raging desire to see everyone dead, including herself, seemed to be firmly suppressed with the appearance of this little one.

Mechanically, she listened to the cub’s instructions and awkwardly picked up a broom.

Big and small, they worked together for a full two hours…

And still hadn’t completely finished the task.

But at least, compared to before, the room was now much cleaner and tidier.

Feng Yuan was exhausted.

He flopped onto the small sofa. He rested his little head on Li Wei’s lap, completely unable to move.

When Li Wei was in a normal state, her mind was still capable of thought.

Her hand absentmindedly pinched at Feng Yuan’s chubby little cheek, not knowing what she was thinking about.

After a while.

She lowered her gaze, looking at the cub who was almost asleep on her lap, and suddenly spoke.

“How did you get in here?”

“Yuan Yuan squeezed through the wall and came in.”

Rubbing his eyes, Feng Yuan honestly explained how he had gotten inside.

Once he finished, Li Wei’s eyes narrowed.

“Yuan Yuan, can you take me out of here?”

She didn’t want to be locked up here anymore.

She wanted to get out!

Seeing that his little aunt wanted to leave, Feng Yuan didn’t hesitate at all and nodded: “Okay, Yuan Yuan will take Little Aunt out.”

“Little Aunt, what are you going out for?”

Feng Yuan himself was the type who couldn’t stand staying at home all the time. He felt that not wanting to be stuck here alone wasn’t a problem at all.

So he casually asked his little aunt what she wanted to do.

Li Wei clearly paused.

A few seconds later, the corners of her lips curved into a smile.

She cupped Feng Yuan’s chubby little face, her voice slow and languid as she said: “Little Aunt wants to go see someone.”

“He said he loves Little Aunt very, very much. Even if Little Aunt is a lunatic, he still loves me.”

“But behind Little Aunt’s back, he wants to marry someone else. Tell me, should Little Aunt go teach him a lesson?”

Feng Yuan: “!”

Caught off guard by this gossip, Feng Yuan instantly perked up.

“Scumbag!”

A big fan of TV dramas, Feng Yuan even knew that this kind of man was called a scumbag.

He sat up, his chubby little face filled with righteous indignation: “That scumbag tricked Little Aunt. Yuan Yuan will beat him up!”

Li Wei: “……”

Li Wei looked at Feng Yuan’s short arms and legs, then thought about that 187-centimeter-tall scumbag.

She didn’t continue with this topic and instead told Feng Yuan that she had to get out.

The Li family’s old master was naturally low-key and disliked appearing in public.

The Li children were the same as he, choosing to live quietly.

The man Li Wei was talking about, even now, had no idea of her true identity.

He had a decent family background, but he told Li Wei that he didn’t care about social standing.

So whether Li Wei was poor or wealthy, he claimed he would love her until death.

Li Wei neither confirmed nor denied those words.

What truly made her furious wasn’t his betrayal or change of heart, but rather—

That he never should have made such a promise.

She hated nothing more than promises being broken!

That would throw her into extreme agitation and loss of control.

The man’s current fiancée was a young lady from a family that matched his in status.

But whether it was that man, or the young lady who knew he had a relationship yet still chose to marry him, when it came to family background—

Neither of them could compare to the Li family in the slightest.

Before Li Wei lost control, she had personally overheard the insults and contempt that the couple had for her.

She had heard it, but she couldn’t step forward to teach them a lesson.

That regret alone made Li Wei grow restless and furious all over again.

Sensing that his little aunt’s emotions weren’t right, Feng Yuan spread his chubby arms and hugged her.

“Little Aunt, don’t be angry.”

Feng Yuan hugged her, his soft, round little face pressed against hers, coaxing gently: “Yuan Yuan will definitely help Little Aunt get revenge!”

Feng Yuan, deep down, was fiercely protective of his own.

As long as he recognized someone as his own, even if it were just a little dog, he would protect them to the end.

And right now, with his little aunt being bullied like this, Feng Yuan’s little temper naturally couldn’t tolerate it.

He stayed close to his little aunt. Only after her emotions had settled down again did he loosen his small hands.

Li Wei hadn’t rested properly in a long time.

With Feng Yuan’s company and comfort, she unknowingly drifted off to sleep.

At first, as she slept, she would jolt awake every so often.

But each time she woke in fright, Feng Yuan, sitting by her side, would pucker his lips and give her a little kiss.

With Feng Yuan’s kisses, Li Wei sank back into deep sleep.

Feng Yuan kept watch over her for a long, long time before tiptoeing away.

He didn’t have the key. He couldn’t open the main door, and thus couldn’t let his little aunt out.

He would have to wait until Grandpa came home at night, then ask him for the key.

But before Grandpa returned, Feng Yuan heard the name of the scumbag.

Some servants began talking about that name.

They said the man was holding a sweet proposal banquet for his fiancée.

Li Wei had never told her family about this relationship.

So none of the household staff knew that the man they were praising as romantic and charming was, behind the scenes, not a good person at all.

“Yuan Yuan wants to go to the banquet.”

Feng Yuan couldn’t wait for Grandpa anymore. With a stern little face, he went to stand in front of Li Cheng.

“Uncle, take Yuan Yuan to the banquet!”

Li Cheng was stunned for a moment by Feng Yuan’s request.

“Young Master, why do you suddenly want to go to this banquet?”

“Yuan Yuan just wants to go.”

Feng Yuan insisted again, his serious little look making Li Cheng chuckle.

“Alright. There will be many children at this banquet. Did Young Master Yuan Yuan hear about that and want to go play?”

He gave the boy’s actions a reason. Afterward, he made the arrangements for Feng Yuan to attend.
