Synopsis Marrying a Cook in the 1960s

After enduring seven or eight years of hunger and hardship in the post-apocalyptic world, Wang Ying transmigrated into the 1960s.

Her cousin from the extended family came down with a fever, and upon waking, made a huge fuss about breaking off her engagement to her fiancé. Tearfully, the eldest aunt came to find Wang Ying, asking her to marry the man instead.

Wang Ying heard that the man was a chef and immediately perked up. A chef? Great!

Hadn’t it always been said that during the three years of drought, chefs were the last to starve?

After surviving the apocalypse, Wang Ying’s biggest dream was simply to eat her fill.

The cousin schemed hard to take over Wang Ying’s engagement, waiting to become the wife of a future tycoon.

But in the end…

While the cousin was trying to win over her stepchildren, Wang Ying was eating braised chicken.

While the cousin was navigating mother-in-law and sister-in-law drama, Wang Ying was enjoying pickled fish.

While the cousin was busy doing house chores around the stove, Wang Ying was having pork, cabbage, and vermicelli stew.

The cousin counted the days on her fingers—why hadn’t she become a tycoon’s wife yet?

Meanwhile, Wang Ying’s chef husband was winning awards, cooking at state banquets, and opening a chain of restaurants.

The cold-faced chef Xu Shuang washed Wang Ying’s feet while dotingly asking, “How about rose-flavored glutinous rice balls for a midnight snack?”
