MMLDU Chapter 2

What use do I have for this golden finger?

Regarding Yan Han, Pei Lang didn’t know much, only that he was an even more formidable man than Yan Xiuyuan.

Thinking about how Yan Han lost the use of his legs for the sake of his white moonlight, Pei Lang couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. The Yan family truly seemed to be a breed of deeply devoted and loyal individuals.

Getting married to cure an illness—what’s the point of doctors anymore? Then again, when something as absurd as being transported into a book could happen, what couldn’t?

After a half-hour drive, they finally arrived at the villa. Pei Lang, reeking of an awful stench, felt embarrassed for making the driver endure it for so long. When paying the fare, he added a few extra hundred yuan so the driver could get the car cleaned.

Yan Han’s wealth was vast. The villa was located in the heart of his entertainment empire’s domain, making the building easy to find.

Pei Lang naturally walked inside. The moment the servants saw him, their brows furrowed, their expressions souring as though they had seen a plague. They hurriedly avoided him as though fearing contamination. Pei Lang didn’t mind and casually asked for the location of his room. The servants shot him disdainful and scornful looks but reluctantly pointed in a general direction.

Since the marriage was one of mutual convenience and they didn’t interfere in each other’s lives, Yan Han had given him several keys to access different areas. To the servants, Pei Lang was nothing more than an unwelcome tenant in the house.

Upon entering his room, Pei Lang was immediately assaulted by a dizzying array of pink and purple hues that made his eyes ache. He couldn’t fathom the original owner’s aesthetic taste. Clearly, the original owner had an awful reputation. During his half-month stay in the detention center, no one cared to send him any fresh clothes. Now, all Pei Lang wanted was a proper shower and a change of clean clothing.

Having a slight touch of germophobia, he had long reached his limit with the sour stench clinging to him.

Adjusting the water to the perfect temperature, Pei Lang removed his filthy clothes and stuffed them into a plastic bag to contain the smell. Only then did he settle comfortably into the bathtub.

This was, without a doubt, the longest bath he had ever taken. After thoroughly cleaning himself and drying his hair with a blow dryer, he stepped out to get dressed.

The steam from the shower had fogged up the bathroom mirror, making it impossible to see his reflection. It wasn’t until he stood in front of the full-length mirror in the room that he saw his appearance clearly.

Peach blossom eyes, a prominent nose, and a perfectly sculpted face. A striking red tear mole adorned the corner of his eye. The face was identical to his previous one. The only difference was that this body’s original owner had meticulously maintained a fair and flawless complexion. After washing off the makeup, his skin revealed a radiant, icy-white luster that exuded an untouchable purity—making him appear even more like a pretty boy than Pei Lang had ever been.

Pei Lang ran his fingers through his slightly long wolf-tail hairstyle with some distaste. He had a great figure—slim waist, long legs, and handsome facial features—but this hairstyle, though lazy and casual, didn’t quite suit him. It gave off an effortless, charming vibe, but he wasn’t used to it. Unlike the long hair in ancient costumes, this medium-length hair easily covered his eyes and affected his vision.

When he opened the wardrobe, he was completely stunned.

The wardrobe was huge, filled with clothes in all sorts of bright colors and exaggerated deep V styles. Even the underwear was in a flashy purple. Pei Lang’s lips twitched. After much hesitation, he finally picked a peach-pink V-neck T-shirt with a shallower cut and a pair of loose, water-blue shorts. At the back of the shoe cabinet, he found a pair of small white sneakers that looked like they hadn’t been worn in ages, which at least salvaged his strange outfit a little.

The room was filled with bright colors, and the vanity was cluttered with various skincare and makeup products. Pei Lang remembered the author describing the original owner’s fondness for heavy makeup and long hair, which had earned him the “sissy” label. But his body wasn’t delicate or soft—it was tall and slender, not matching the traditional image of a dainty man. He didn’t measure up to those tall and muscular men either, so his appearance felt out of place. His androgynous style, neither manly nor feminine, was often ridiculed.

Since he was here now, Pei Lang decided to live according to his preferences. As for the male lead and his younger brother, let them do whatever they wanted—falling in love, seducing men—none of that was as interesting as acting and taking on various roles.

However, the most important thing right now was to get rid of all the unnecessary things in the room. He wasn’t afraid of anyone discovering he had changed. He was Pei Lang, and Pei Lang was him. Even though there was a significant difference between the two, without any evidence, who would guess that his soul had swapped?

There were still tens of thousands of yuan in his phone available for fingerprint payments, so Pei Lang decided to go out and buy some new clothes.

The villa was huge and his room was on the second floor. Before he had even reached the first floor, while coming down the spiral staircase, he saw a man in a black suit coming in with a no-nonsense air. The man had thick black hair, sharp eyebrows, and bright eyes. His facial features were strong and handsome, like a work of art carved by a master sculptor—every detail meticulously crafted, making it hard to look away. The entertainment industry had no shortage of attractive people, and Pei Lang had seen many. But this man was the most stunning he had ever encountered.

The man had little expression, his sharp features giving him a powerful presence, seemingly aloof and unapproachable. But his eyes were intriguing. There were no clear emotions, yet they seemed to tell a story.

The man noticed that Pei Lang’s gaze lingered on him for too long. He casually glanced up. The aura of a mature man and a powerful figure pressed down on Pei Lang. His heart skipped a beat. He quickly shifted his gaze and hurried down the stairs.

Even sitting in a wheelchair, this man exuded an intimidating presence.

Such a powerful and accomplished man was confined to a wheelchair—this could only be the man who was his contract husband.

“Yo~ Long time no see. Where have you been off to, causing trouble again?”

Only then did Pei Lang realize that there was an assistant behind the man. Everyone looked down on the original owner. The assistant beside Yan Han was no exception.

“My reputation is so huge, don’t you know? Yet you still pretend to ask,” Pei Lang replied in a gentle tone, unfazed by the situation. His amber-colored, beautiful pupils shimmered with a smile. The deep V of his T-shirt exposed his collarbones and fair neck. His loose shorts showed off his long, straight legs, and the small white sneakers he wore added a youthful vibe to his outfit.

There was no foundation on his face. His outfit, bold yet clean and fitting, was enough to make one temporarily forget all the despicable acts he’d committed. His face was so beautiful that it gave the illusion of needing to be carefully admired.

The assistant, busy observing Pei Lang’s transformation, only responded after a moment, “You’re going out? Where are you off to this time to seduce men?”

The assistants around the man were no simple people, especially considering the original owner’s actions that had angered everyone. That’s why the assistant couldn’t resist retorting. The assistant couldn’t help but feel embarrassed, recalling how he had just admired Pei Lang’s looks, and almost wished he could slap himself.

As they spoke, Pei Lang had already reached the stairs and was walking toward the door.

The insults didn’t cause him to snap with rage. As he moved, his hair, which he had tucked back, slipped down again. Pei Lang had to lift the slightly long bangs again. “The contract doesn’t say I need to report my daily schedule to you, does it? Or are you so curious? Just how interested are you in me?” Pei Lang looked the assistant up and down before concluding, “Pity, someone like you isn’t even worthy of me seducing.”

“You…” The assistant’s face twitched with anger, wanting to strangle Pei Lang. But with the boss still present, they had more important things to do and couldn’t waste time on this. “Hmph!”

“Let’s go.” Yan Han, who had not spoken, finally issued a command. His wheelchair was smart and capable of self-operating and the villa was equipped with an elevator for convenience. As the man operated his wheelchair and passed by Pei Lang, a sudden wave of dizziness struck. Pei Lang staggered and fell into Yan Han’s arms, accidentally brushing his hand.

A sharp ringing filled his head and the damn system’s voice sounded. “Ding—Binding successful.”

What binding? What success? What did that even mean? As the black dizziness faded a little, Pei Lang lifted his head, confused. He locked eyes with Yan Han’s gaze, which was filled with swirling emotions. He was startled and then froze upon seeing something slowly appearing on Yan Han’s left shoulder.

The assistant quickly rushed forward, pulling Pei Lang away, with a look that seemed to say, You dare try to seduce our boss!?

Pei Lang landed painfully on his backside, then glanced at the thing on Yan Han’s shoulder, cursing that damned system 007 in his mind.

A transparent, bouncy little bubble appeared on Yan Han’s left shoulder. Inside the bubble was a cartoonish little character in a chibi style. Although it was from a different dimension, Pei Lang could tell that the little figure represented Yan Han because it looked just like him.

At that moment, the little character was dressed in a perfectly tailored suit, angrily punching a floating sandbag, occasionally grunting and shaking its fist in protest. But looking at Yan Han himself, aside from the thin line of his mouth and his cold eyes, there was no other movement or expression.

Absurd! This is the so-called golden finger the system mentioned? What use do I have for this function?

Pei Lang stood up from the floor and explained, “Sorry, low blood sugar.”

The body hadn’t been eating properly while in detention, and now it was noon again. Pei Lang didn’t notice, but the body was already protesting in silence.

“Your seduction tactics are clumsy and disgusting compared to others. I advise you not to make any inappropriate moves.” The assistant stood protectively beside Yan Han, ready to defend him, as if Pei Lang were a hungry wolf about to pounce on their boss to seduce him. As an assistant, it was his duty to protect his boss’s chastity and safety.

Pei Lang understood their thoughts. He still had things to do, and no one would believe his explanation anyway. He decided not to explain further, giving the assistant a look as if to say, You’re an idiot, before stepping out the door.

“Upstairs, shower, and change clothes.” Yan Han, who had been coldly silent until then, finally spoke. He activated his wheelchair, and for the first time, there was a sense of urgency in his usually calm demeanor. He seemed eager to clean off any trace of Pei Lang’s touch.

There was a room for Pei Lang in the villa, but the original owner rarely came home during the day and often stayed out overnight. Even when he did return, it was usually late at night, so they rarely crossed paths.

When they came back, they hadn’t expected to find Pei Lang there. It was truly an unfortunate encounter.

Pei Lang left the villa and took a taxi to the mall. During the ride, feeling bored, he opened his phone and scrolled through a few trending topics.

#Pei Lang released from detention today

#Pei Lang flees in disgrace

#Pei Lang, the crazy one, come out and apologize

#When will the toxic celebrity be blacklisted?

#The threshold for actors is getting lower and lower

Even though Pei Lang was used to the ups and downs of public opinion, clicking on the trending topics still hurt him. It was summer and the weather was hot. Although he hadn’t done those things, the insulting language still made his heart cold.

However, the coldness was fleeting. When he clicked on a certain link and saw the video the reporters had taken, he couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

In the video, he was awkwardly dodging paparazzi and scrambling into a car after being released from detention. Even he found it funny. The reporter filming was running in a panic, afraid that he would escape, causing the camera to shake, which made the whole thing look even more ridiculous.

The comments were full of mockery and slander. After reading for a while, Pei Lang felt upset and turned off his phone.

In the villa, after Yan Han finished his shower and changed clothes, he entered the study. His assistant had been waiting for some time and started reporting on work and schedules.

Because of his legs, Yan Han didn’t like being exposed to the public eye. He owned a company called Lanjin Entertainment, one of the largest film and television companies in the country. The company’s top executives often appeared in public, while Yan Han only went out occasionally or worked from home.

About 60% of the top-tier celebrities in the entertainment industry were from his company. The latest drama series released by the company has been a huge hit. It was the busiest time for various departments. So, even as the hands-off CEO, Yan Han was busy.

He worked from home until the afternoon. When he got hungry, he decided to go downstairs to eat.

At that moment, Pei Lang, who everyone thought wouldn’t return, came back, bringing some people with him.

“Move in, please. The room is on the second floor. Sorry for the trouble,” Pei Lang said, directing the movers. When he saw Yan Han and his assistant, he calmly smiled and greeted them. “Sorry, I just wanted to renovate the room. Please continue eating.”

The moment Yan Han raised his gaze, there was a brief flash of admiration in his eyes, almost imperceptible, followed by indifference.

Really, what is up with c-novels and shitting on people who enjoy bold fashion? A pastel shirt and pair of jewel-tone shorts is crazy? God forbid there are fun patterns. The fixation on white shirts and formalwear is so tedious.

Oh, well. At least this story sounds interesting, so that’ll make up for that reoccuring quirk.

    1. Hayles says:

I also don’t understand why they hate on the bold and colourful fashion 😩 I felt a bit sad reading about the original owner

    2. FrammyMushMushroom says:

Yeah, I don’t understand either, I think the style described there is pretty good, if the cloth pieces r well combined I see no problem with it lol
