MMLDU Chapter 59

Quite obedient when in my arms.

After Yan Xiuyuan declared he wouldn’t marry Pei Ziqing, Pei Ziqing panicked. He cried, begged, and tried to please him in every way, but none of it swayed Yan Xiuyuan. In just half a day, Pei Ziqing’s radiance faded, leaving him a shadow of his formerly glamorous self.

In contrast, Pei Lang’s situation couldn’t have been more different.

When Aunt Lin learned about Pei Lang’s injury, she poured her heart into preparing meals, setting out a table full of dishes. The portions were small but varied, ensuring Pei Lang could enjoy a rich selection without overindulging.

Dr. Ge’s medicine worked wonders—by the afternoon, the pain had subsided. However, during mealtime, Pei Lang accidentally bumped his wound, causing both Yan Han and Aunt Lin to gasp in alarm.

After dinner, Yan Han took Pei Lang to the study, where they sat face to face. He carefully unwrapped the bandages and began applying medicine to the wound. The mixture of itchiness and stinging brought tears to Pei Lang’s eyes. His watery gaze, coupled with their close proximity, left Yan Han parched, his heart skipping a beat several times.

Yan Han was entirely focused and meticulous. Up close, Pei Lang could see every detail of his handsome face. Yan Han’s lashes were long and dense, partially veiling his sharp eyes when he looked down. His nose was high and straight, leading down to lips pressed into a firm line, exuding both sensuality and authority.

Seeing Yan Han at such close range, every feature was impeccably perfect. If his legs worked properly, Yan Han would be nothing short of unstoppable.

Suddenly, a wave of tingling warmth spread through Pei Lang’s chest, a sweet and nervous feeling that startled him.

Oh no. Oh no. I think my heart’s broken. I’d better go to the hospital for a check-up.

“What’s wrong? Does it hurt?” Yan Han noticed Pei Lang shiver slightly and assumed he’d applied too much pressure.

“N-no, it doesn’t hurt.” Great, now I’m stuttering. Even my tongue is acting up. Pei Lang discreetly bit the tip of his tongue and took a deep breath before speaking again. “You’re very gentle—it doesn’t hurt at all. Thank you. Actually, I could’ve done this myself in front of a mirror.”

“No need. It’s my responsibility,” Yan Han said firmly.

Pei Lang stared at him in confusion, not understanding, so Yan Han added, “Legally, I’m your man. Taking care of you is my duty. Got it?” Got it? I’m your man! If any other man bothers you again, you’d better tell me immediately.

This was the subtext, though Pei Lang remained oblivious.

When Pei Lang heard “I’m your man”, a faint blush crept onto his cheeks, entirely beyond his control.

After finishing with the medicine, Pei Lang was about to head back to his room for the night, intending to say goodnight.

“Come to my room tonight. Let’s sleep together,” Yan Han said, cleaning up the cotton swabs and throwing them into the trash.

Since they often slept in the same room for appearances, Pei Lang didn’t refuse.

Following Yan Han inside, he naturally headed for the sofa, preparing to lie down.

“Go to the bed,” Yan Han instructed.

“Huh?” Pei Lang blinked in surprise. There’s no one around to act for today—do we really need to share a bed?

“The doctor said your sleeping posture matters. You need to avoid touching your wound while sleeping. Your sleep habits are terrible—you toss and turn all night. If you sleep next to me, I can keep an eye on you.” Yan Han’s reasoning was flawless, entirely focused on Pei Lang’s well-being, making it impossible to argue.

But Pei Lang was puzzled—when did he ever have poor sleeping habits?

He’d always thought of himself as someone who didn’t move much in his sleep. Yan Han’s statement made him doubt himself.

That’s true… How would I know what I do while I’m asleep?

“But if my sleep habits are bad, what if I accidentally bump into you during the night? Besides, I haven’t showered yet. I still smell like medicine. Won’t that keep you awake?” Pei Lang protested.

Pei Lang still remembered a time when he’d applied medicine, Yan Han had shown clear disdain.

Yan Han didn’t like the smell of medicinal ointments.

“It’s fine. I can bear it,” Yan Han said.

Since Yan Han had put it that way, Pei Lang felt that refusing again would seem too deliberate. “Alright then, I’ll try my best not to move around and make sure I don’t disturb your sleep.”

Pei Lang climbed into bed first. By the time Yan Han returned after taking a shower, Pei Lang was already asleep. His head rested carefully to the side, avoiding any contact with his wound. He looked so obedient and peaceful that it made one want to hold him close.

Unfortunately, due to Yan Han’s leg issues, he could only sleep flat on his back, almost like a corpse. He couldn’t cuddle his beloved or lie on his side.

Sharing the same bed is already enough, Yan Han consoled himself as he painstakingly got into bed, lying flat beside Pei Lang. He didn’t dare turn off all the lights, leaving the bedside lamp on instead. The light was soft but bright enough to clearly see everything on the bed, making it easier to keep an eye on Pei Lang and ensure his wound wasn’t disturbed.

Because of Yan Han’s comment about his poor sleeping posture, Pei Lang had subconsciously told himself before falling asleep to stay perfectly still so as not to disturb Yan Han. Ironically, this made him move around more than usual that night.

Yan Han, worried that Pei Lang might touch his wound, carefully adjusted his posture several times. Eventually, he gave up trying to fix it repeatedly and pulled Pei Lang into his arms, holding him like a body pillow. Pei Lang’s head rested on Yan Han’s chest. Fortunately, his neck wound remained untouched.

Pei Lang wasn’t heavy. Lying on Yan Han didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. Yan Han even reached out and playfully touched Pei Lang’s nose, prompting Pei Lang to instinctively nuzzle against his shirt and find a cozy position to continue sleeping.

Yan Han was effortlessly charmed once again.

His body heated up. He found himself wanting to tighten his embrace, holding Pei Lang even closer and locking him in his arms forever—his little fox, all his.

That thought grew wildly in the dark, taking over his mind. Slowly, his hand ventured boldly but carefully under Pei Lang’s shirt, coming to rest on his slender, smooth waist. The sensation was incredible.

Pei Lang’s waist, honed by martial arts, was evenly toned. In its relaxed state, the muscles were supple and springy to the touch.

Pei Lang seemed to be ticklish, squirming to escape Yan Han’s touch. However, Yan Han’s hand felt as if it were glued to his waist, unable to pull away. Eventually, Yan Han stopped his random touches, and Pei Lang settled down in his sleep.

Just when Yan Han thought he could take advantage of the late hour and the fact that Pei Lang was sound asleep to do something he shouldn’t, the phone on the bedside table suddenly rang. In two seconds, Yan Han swiftly ended the call.

It was Qi Shaoheng calling.

After hanging up, Qi Shaoheng didn’t give up and called again. This time, Yan Han was quick to answer, so fast that Qi Shaoheng was momentarily stunned, not knowing how to react. “Hello?”

Yan Han didn’t want to let go of Pei Lang, but he was afraid of waking him, so his voice was low. “Speak.”

Thinking that Yan Han was upset, Qi Shaoheng immediately realized the time difference. “Ah, sorry! I forgot about the time difference and disturbed your sleep. I’ve made a major discovery. Give me a week. I guarantee I’ll catch the person!”

“That’s it?” After hearing this, Yan Han wasn’t happy. Instead, his brows furrowed.

“???” Qi Shaoheng was confused. “Isn’t this the most important thing to you? As soon as I had progress, I called to let you know.”

Yan Han’s attitude made Qi Shaoheng suspicious. He suddenly figured it out. “Ah, I get it now. The girl you like is ignoring you, and you’re upset, can’t sleep, and I happened to walk into this mess, right? Well, I gotta say, I didn’t expect you to be so stuck! When I return to the country, I’ll find out which ice queen is so hard to chase.”

“He’s in my arms.” Yan Han didn’t want to hear any more of Qi Shaoheng’s chatter, so he shut him up with those five words. He added, “You’ll wake him up.”

“I…” This was the first time Qi Shaoheng had been so thoroughly blocked, unable to retort.

It wasn’t until a minute after Yan Han hung up the phone that Qi Shaoheng reacted, going wild and sending a flurry of messages.

[Did you really win her over? Holy crap! You’re amazing!]

[You must have used the methods I gave you, right? Got it, I’ll start learning too. If you can do it, I’m sure I can.]

[Let me meet her when I get back to the country, I’m so curious. She must be a goddess.]

[From now on, I’m a man with a sister-in-law, hahahaha.]

[The book I gave you is good, right? You should thank me. Don’t forget to transfer the payment to my account.]

Yan Han didn’t reply to a single word of these messages. He was now feeling a headache. What started as a little bit of pride was completely misunderstood by Qi Shaoheng as him having already won her over. Things on that side were nearly done; in less than ten days, Qi Shaoheng would return to the country. If he found out Yan Han hadn’t succeeded yet, what face would he have left? What about his dignity?

He was sure to be the laughingstock.

If you were to ask his subordinates who would dare openly mock him, the answer would be none other than Qi Shaoheng. A friend and subordinate, both mischievous and playful, who knew what kind of things he would say after meeting Pei Lang?

Some things are better said directly by yourself rather than having others speak them for you.

Qi Shaoheng still had the nerve to take credit. Yan Han felt like he was lucky he didn’t punch him. Those books were completely useless. Yan Han was considering a different approach, realizing that with someone like Pei Lang, it was better to be straightforward.

He needed to say everything before Qi Shaoheng returned to avoid embarrassment later.

Yan Han spent the entire night without sleep, thinking about how to tell Pei Lang he liked him without scaring him. At the same time, he was constantly watching, afraid Pei Lang might accidentally rub against his wound. This weather was perfect for infection. He had to be cautious.

The next morning when Pei Lang woke up, he realized he was sprawled across Yan Han like an octopus. Seeing the bloodshot veins in Yan Han’s eyes, he panicked. “I-I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened. I’ve never done this before.”

“It’s fine,” Yan Han responded indifferently.

“You didn’t sleep well last night, did you? You should’ve woken me up,” Pei Lang said, feeling a bit guilty and hanging his head, not daring to look at Yan Han.

“You were pretty good last night,” Yan Han said, trying to reassure him, though his words didn’t sound very convincing. “You’re quite obedient when in my arms, and slept until you woke up naturally.”

“I…” Pei Lang’s face turned red again. He quickly got out of bed. “I’ll go get you some breakfast. You should eat and rest a bit. By the way, you’re not going to the office today, right?”

“No, I’m not.”

“Okay, then I’ll go get some food.”

Pei Lang rushed downstairs. When Aunt Lin saw him, she worriedly reminded him to be careful not to slip. Pei Lang grabbed two plates of food he thought would taste good and rushed back upstairs. Yan Han was already brushing his teeth and washing his face.

As Pei Lang pushed open the door, he saw Yan Han just stepping out of the bathroom. Since he was going to sleep soon, he hadn’t taken off his pajamas.

When Pei Lang had woke up, the moment he opened his eyes, he saw Yan Han’s bloodshot eyes. He didn’t dare to look more, feeling guilty and nervous. Now, as he collided with him again, he first looked at Yan Han’s face, which seemed much better than before, and then his gaze slid to his shoulder. He was so shocked that he nearly dropped the plates in his hands.
