MMLDU Chapter 63

Kidnap Yan Xiuyuan.

The night sky was dotted with stars, and the moonlight, like frost, shone on Yan Han’s strong and handsome features. The room was unlit. Yan Han sat by the window, gazing at the distant, bustling city lights.

The villa area was very quiet. His heart was just as silent, almost blending into the darkness.

His face was expressionless. His deep, dark eyes seemed as though some evil spirit might emerge from them, chilling and terrifying. He remained motionless, sitting upright. After a long while, he took out his phone and made a call. “Did you land?”

On the other end of the line, Qi Shaoheng spoke seriously for once. “Just landed.”

“Did you bring the person back?” Yan Han asked again, his voice as emotionless as usual. Qi Shaoheng understood him well—the calmer Yan Han sounded, the more dangerous he was.

“I brought them back.”

“Mm, good work.”

After a brief exchange, the call ended. The moon tonight was large and round, connecting with the city lights. But there were always places where the moonlight couldn’t reach—dark and damp areas.

Yan Xiuyuan had taken leave from the company for his hospitalization, which caused his father to fly into a rage, criticizing him for becoming more irresponsible. He was badly injured but wouldn’t even say who had done it. His father had specially hired someone to investigate, but they couldn’t find anything.

Initially, it seemed like his son had been threatened and the person who bullied him must be someone familiar. But when he saw Yan Xiuyuan’s willingness to cover for the perpetrator, Yan Tong was so angry he almost wanted to hit him.

Pei Ziqing, who knew the situation, was becoming increasingly upset.

Yan Xiuyuan had fallen for Pei Lang and was pestering him. Now he was hospitalized and still willingly covering for Pei Lang. What did that say about his position? So, agreeing to help Pei Lang was the right choice, though he disliked Pei Lang immensely. For now, there was no other way.

Once he married Yan Xiuyuan, there would be plenty of ways to get back at Pei Lang.

Today was the day Yan Xiuyuan was discharged from the hospital. Pei Ziqing had been taking care of him diligently. After enduring both physical and emotional torment, he looked extremely haggard. Yan Xiuyuan, on the other hand, was full of energy. After completing the discharge procedures, he took advantage of Pei Ziqing going to the ward to pack up and left the hospital alone.

To avoid Pei Ziqing, Yan Xiuyuan sneaked into a dark area. As soon as he was discharged, he thought about calling and pestering Pei Lang. But just as he took out his phone and was about to dial, several burly men knocked the phone out of his hand and forcefully abducted him.

“Who are you? Let go of me! Do you know who I am?!”

“Open your eyes and take a good look. You dare to kidnap me? Are you looking for death?!”

“My dad won’t let you get away with this! You bunch of scoundrels, don’t touch me with your filthy hands! Let go of me~~”

Yan Xiuyuan struggled desperately, his mouth running wild. Unable to tolerate it any longer, they covered his mouth and nose with a towel, laced with something. A few seconds later, Yan Xiuyuan passed out, successfully kidnapped.

He was transported to an unknown location.

When he woke up, he didn’t know how much time had passed. He was in a dim, gloomy warehouse that smelled of rust and dampness. On a worn-out, dust-covered wooden table, there was an old oil lamp casting light on a few square meters of space around him.

Yan Xiuyuan could sense that there were others nearby, hiding in places where the light didn’t reach. Fortunately, the kidnappers weren’t very skilled and had loosely bound his hands. With some time, he was sure he could escape.

He laughed inwardly, unsure of what they intended to do with him. He arrogantly shouted, “Come out, I know you’re here. Since you dared to kidnap me, why hide like this?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, six burly men stepped out of the darkness and surrounded him. Each of them was bigger and stronger than Yan Xiuyuan. Yan Xiuyuan flinched, swallowed hard, and bluffed, “Where’s your boss? Tell him to come out and see me. If it’s money you want, or something else, just tell me. Don’t waste my time.”

But to his surprise, the boss didn’t come out. The burly men didn’t say a word, and without warning, they began to punch him. Fresh out of the hospital, Yan Xiuyuan was pummeled badly, his arrogant demeanor turning into cries of pain. Just as he was about to faint, a familiar voice stopped them.

“Enough.”

Some of the men still had their fists raised, but at the command, they all stepped back. Yan Xiuyuan remained on the ground, unable to get up. Gasping, he was filled with rage and disbelief. “Uncle?”

Yes, the voice belonged to Yan Han.

Under Yan Xiuyuan’s shocked and fearful gaze, Yan Han’s wheelchair slowly rolled in front of him. Despite sitting in a wheelchair, Yan Han gave off an imposing aura, as though looking down on him from above. Even though Yan Xiuyuan managed to sit up despite the pain, he didn’t appear much shorter than Yan Han. That feeling, however, didn’t dissipate.

“You dare to kidnap me! I’ll tell Grandpa!” Yan Xiuyuan was furious, his body trembling with anger, his teeth gritted, eyes full of hatred.

Yan Han’s black eyes became icy, sending a chill down Yan Xiuyuan’s spine and giving him goosebumps. “Elder brother didn’t teach you how to behave, so I’m just giving you a little lesson on his behalf.”

“Why!? What right do you have to teach me a lesson!” Yan Xiuyuan roared.

Yan Han, like a hunter watching a wild beast from outside the cage, calmly watched Yan Xiuyuan thrash about in rage. “Because you disrespect my people, your little uncle.”

“He was always meant to be mine!” Yan Xiuyuan still boasted shamelessly. After all, Yan Han was from the Yan family. No matter how cruel he might be, he wouldn’t do anything to him, especially with Grandpa and his father backing him. Now that it was just the two of them, he had already decided to win Pei Lang back. He knew there would be a confrontation with Yan Han, so there was no need to pretend to respect him. “What can you give him, a cripple like you, besides money?! I have plenty of money too. What can you compare with me? If I were you, I would’ve drowned myself in the Yangtze River by now. You’re just a waste, living to embarrass yourself.”

Yan Han had heard these words countless times, especially from Yan Xiuyuan. He had grown immune to them and wasn’t angry. However, there was a dark fog lingering in his eyes. “Why do you hate me so much?”

Yan Han felt that he had never wronged anyone in the Yan family.

For so many years, he had kept his heart simple and desires minimal. Finally, he met someone he liked, but this ungrateful nephew was trying to take him away. Although he knew he couldn’t compete, Yan Han’s anger was still stirred by his actions.

Yan Xiuyuan had bullied his little fox and that was unforgivable.

Yan Xiuyuan had never hidden his hatred for him, and Yan Han had always known.

How much hatred did it take for someone to do such things?

Yan Xiuyuan no longer pretended, his venomous words now fully exposed. There was no need to pretend to be a blood relative anymore. “You ask me why I hate you? Haha~ When your mother climbed into my grandfather’s bed, didn’t she think about my father? My father was originally the only son of the Yan family. All of Grandpa’s wealth should have been his. But your mother, driven by greed, got pregnant with you to snatch the inheritance from my father. Do you think I shouldn’t hate you? Luckily, your mother died young, soon after giving birth to you.”

“Because of this, Grandpa treated you like a treasure and completely ignored my father. Even after I was born years later, Grandpa’s attention was still all on you. I am also a descendant of the Yan family, so why is Grandpa treating me so differently?”

Yan Xiuyuan grew more agitated as he spoke, but Yan Han remained silent, listening quietly. He already knew all of this; he just wanted to hear it directly from Yan Xiuyuan’s mouth. Once he heard it, he would be able to harden his heart.

It was as if a dam had broken. Yan Xiuyuan vented all his accumulated hatred towards Yan Han. “You’re so calculating, studying every day just to make Grandpa happy, all to get the Yan family’s inheritance rights. My father’s sense of crisis grew stronger, constantly comparing me to you, which made me work even harder.”

But no matter how hard he tried, he could never catch up to Yan Han.

“The inheritance my father gave me was only 5% of the Yan family’s assets,” Yan Han stated honestly. He had received only 5% of the inheritance, but he didn’t complain.

From a very young age, he knew that he was the unwanted child in the Yan family. The only warmth he felt came from his father. But his father wasn’t always around, so Yan Han often faced disdain and neglect. When he was a child, Yan Xiuyuan would often do things to him. Yan Han, as the younger uncle and with a few years’ age difference from Yan Xiuyuan, naturally didn’t retaliate. He only knew that he had to work hard in his studies to secure his place in the Yan family.

Yan Han put all his heart and soul into studying, showing no interest in anything else. For example, food was just something that existed to keep him alive long enough to learn more. It wasn’t until Pei Lang appeared that he began to enjoy the taste of food.

With effort and talent, Yan Han became outstanding and grew into the pride of the heavens, reaching a height that Yan Xiuyuan could never touch. Yan Tong’s sense of crisis had always been strong, constantly making underhanded moves, all of which Yan Han neutralized.

On the day he turned eighteen, his father called Yan Han into his study and apologized, saying that he could only give him 5% of the family’s assets. Yan Han accepted without hesitation, feeling happy that he could finally leave the Yan family and be independent.

“What’s wrong? You think it’s too little!? 5% of the assets is enough for you to start your own company. Everything you’ve achieved so far is thanks to the Yan family. People like you, we’ve already done more than enough by raising you to eighteen. You shouldn’t even be given that 5%,” Yan Xiuyuan said, clearly enraged when the subject was brought up.

If it wasn’t for his father’s strong opposition and the fact that Yan Han had just turned eighteen and was inexperienced in business, Grandpa probably would have given him more.

But Yan Han was too capable. With that small amount of money, he started his own company and his life seemed to soar like a cheat code. His company grew bigger and bigger, and it was soon going to rival Yan Tong’s.

In his twenties, he had achieved what Yan Tong couldn’t accomplish in half his lifetime. By that time, Yan Xiuyuan was already helping his father in the company. Although Yan Tong hated Yan Han, he had to admit that Yan Han was indeed talented. He hated his own son for not being that smart, for being a mess at work, and for being as foolish as a pig.

Yan Xiuyuan wasn’t actually that bad; it was just that compared to Yan Han, the gap was too vast.

As members of the Yan family, it was only natural for him to be compared to Yan Han. Yan Xiuyuan couldn’t allow himself to be worse than Yan Han, the “outsider”. The pressure built up over the years made him miserable, and what was even worse was that he had to respectfully call him “Uncle” in front of Old Master Yan and outsiders.

“You probably don’t know, but every time I call you ‘uncle’, I can’t help but feel like throwing up. When I was a kid, my classmates and friends always asked me why I called you ‘uncle’ when you’re only a few years older than me.”

Yan Xiuyuan had to maintain his public image as a gentle young master, always smiling and explaining to others that Yan Han was his grandfather’s child and that they were family. But deep down, he wished Yan Han would disappear, preferably never to appear in his circle again.

“Is that why you hate me so much?” Yan Han asked calmly.

Everything was just a figment of Yan Xiuyuan and Yan Tong’s imagination. No one ever asked Yan Han what he thought.

Seeing that Yan Han wasn’t angry, it seemed that everything he said was reasonable and there was no room for anger. Yan Xiuyuan became even more arrogant. “Yes, I hate you.”

“So, you’re planning to have me killed?” Yan Han’s tone remained calm, but his words struck directly at Yan Xiuyuan’s heart.

Yan Xiuyuan’s eyes widened in shock. “You… what did you say!?”
