MMLDU Chapter 67

Maybe I can try with you.

After dropping the person off at home, Su Jia had to head back to the company. As long as Pei Lang was with Yan Han, Yan Han would rest, leaving many things to Su Jia. As expected, love affairs really do delay a career.

Resigned to head back to the company, Su Jia received a call from Qi Shaoheng. Since Qi Shaoheng returned, he had been assigned to the company and was swamped with work. Originally, he had planned to find out who his sister-in-law was, but a pile of work had kept him so busy he couldn’t even straighten his back. He suspected that Yan Han was doing this on purpose.

When he went to find Yan Han today, he found the office empty. Su Jia was also nowhere to be seen. Qi Shaoheng guessed that they had gone to pick someone up. Seizing the opportunity, he called Su Jia. “Xiao Su Su, is the boss around? I need to talk to him about some work matters.”

“If you really had something to discuss, you’d call the boss directly.” Without Pei Lang around, Su Jia was still sharp. After working together for so long, how could he not know what kind of person Qi Shaoheng was?

“Oh, you really know me well.” Caught, Qi Shaoheng stopped pretending. “Did you meet the boss’s wife today? What does she look like? What’s her name? Which family is she from?”

Qi Shaoheng had always thought it was a woman, and with a string of questions, Su Jia almost couldn’t stop himself from laughing. “The boss’s private matters are not for me to disclose as his assistant.”

“One month’s bonus.” Qi Shaoheng immediately started bargaining, but Su Jia ignored him, focusing on driving.

“Two months’ bonus!”

Qi Shaoheng raised the offer.

‘Three months’ bonus! No more!”

“Deal!” Su Jia finally gave in. His boss’s private matters were worth three months’ bonus. “He’s at the boss’s house. You can go check for yourself. Don’t forget to transfer the money to my account.”

Because some of the withheld bonuses by Pei Lang had finally been returned by Qi Shaoheng, Su Jia was mentally calculating. The scenery outside the car window seemed unusually beautiful.

At this point, he wasn’t afraid of having his salary docked anymore.

After avoiding things for more than half a month, it was finally time to face Yan Han again. Fortunately, Yan Han hadn’t been imagining things anymore. The two little ones were obediently sticking together, their inner worlds already in the midst of a love affair while their outer worlds were still in the testing phase. Pei Lang couldn’t help but think, Aren’t you supposed to be the big shot? When did you become so timid?

But what should he do if Yan Han confesses?

Forget it, forget it. It’s better if he doesn’t confess. Pei Lang’s afraid that he might not be able to resist and end up agreeing, making it seem like he’s liked Yan Han for a long time.

There was no way they could sleep in separate rooms. All of Pei Lang’s reasons were invalid, and instead, they made him look suspicious. This time, he wasn’t injured, so Pei Lang could openly sleep on the couch. However, when he lay down, Yan Han told him to come to the bed, saying that the couch was uncomfortable, completely forgetting that Pei Lang used to sleep on that very couch.

Before the wrap-up, they had filmed quite a few fight scenes. Pei Lang must have been tired, so that night, he didn’t overthink it. He lay next to Yan Han and slept soundly. He was asleep within minutes of lying down. His ease, however, made Yan Han restless. How could he sleep when the person he liked was lying right next to him? So, Pei Lang didn’t like him at all.

Yan Han tossed and turned for half the night before falling asleep. He went over all the methods he could think of but still couldn’t come up with a perfect plan to make Pei Lang like him. He didn’t want to confess directly because Pei Lang showed no interest at all. A direct confession would only scare him off and make things worse.

The best relationships happen naturally.

Because he stayed up late and had Pei Lang next to him, Yan Han slept soundly. The next morning, Pei Lang woke up before him and didn’t rush to get up. Instead, he lay next to him, observing Yan Han’s handsome sleeping face and the sweet image of the two little ones cuddling in the bubble.

At first glance, Yan Han’s features were stunning, but upon closer inspection, they were even more perfect. Pei Lang liked him more and more, just like a highly skilled sculptor carving out perfect features. His nose bridge had the perfect curve. Pei Lang couldn’t help but want to trace it with his finger.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, Yan Han opened his eyes and turned his head to look at him. Pei Lang’s heart skipped a beat. He greeted him cheerfully. “Good morning.”

Yan Han glanced at the time. It was already past nine. “Are you hungry?”

“Kind of.” Pei Lang got up and climbed out of bed. “I’ll go wash up first. I wonder what Aunt Lin made for breakfast today.” He said, already slipping out the door as he spoke.

After they both finished washing up and getting dressed, they went downstairs for breakfast. When Pei Lang returned, Aunt Lin, happy to have just finished making breakfast, was heading out to buy fresh ingredients for lunch. She ran into Qi Shaoheng just as she left.

“Young Master Qi, you’re here.”

“Aunt Lin, long time no see.” Qi Shaoheng stretched his neck to look inside. Aunt Lin assumed he was looking for Yan Han, so she went off to do her thing.

As soon as Qi Shaoheng entered, he saw Pei Lang and Yan Han sitting together at the breakfast table. He froze in place. They were both men. Yan Han liked men. The scene of them together was harmonious. They made a perfect match.

Qi Shaoheng arrived suddenly, and his intentions were obvious. Yan Han’s eyes turned cold. “What are you here for?”

Pei Lang sensed Yan Han’s displeasure and looked over, seeing a stranger with a silly expression.

“Ah, heh heh~~ I came to deliver a book. I thought you’d be finished with the last one I gave you, so today I brought new ones.” Qi Shaoheng was just trying to find an excuse to visit his sister-in-law, not realizing the gravity of his reasoning.

As he spoke, he weighed the box in his arms, slowly making his way over. His eyes kept glancing at Pei Lang. They sized each other up—Pei Lang out of curiosity and Qi Shaoheng with growing interest, clearly very pleased with what he saw.

The look in Qi Shaoheng’s eyes made Yan Han want to gouge them out.

“Books?” Pei Lang’s mind flashed through some images. He set down his chopsticks and got up to meet him. By the time Yan Han realized what was happening, it was already too late—the box of books was already in Pei Lang’s hands.

Inside were books with strange titles. Methods to Keep Love Fresh, Things You Can’t Say Between Husband and Wife, How to Make Your Wife Devoted to You, The Charm of a Man, Let Your Wife See It

Pei Lang suddenly understood. “So that’s where those weird books came from! It was you who sent them!!”

The case was solved. He knew it! As a cold, stoic man like Yan Han, how could he be reading such boundary-pushing, explicit literature? He must have been led astray by someone.

The moment Pei Lang said this, Yan Han’s ears turned red, though his face remained cold. His eyes were shooting daggers at Qi Shaoheng. As his friend and subordinate, Qi Shaoheng understood the situation—it was truly a mess. He quickly decided to make himself scarce. “Uh… heh heh~ The books are delivered, I… I should head back to the company now, yeah~ It’s been busy, so I need to focus on work.”

He ran away faster than a rabbit. Yan Han didn’t even have the chance to make him take the blame. As a competent “domineering CEO”, he should have remained calm and unshaken. Instead, his feigned composure only revealed his inner panic as he mentally hid in a little cupboard. “You already knew?”

“I even know that when you read those books, you imagined me in them…” Pei Lang blurted out. Yan Han’s ears turned even redder. Thinking back to those scenes made Pei Lang blush too. “Cough cough~ I just saw them by chance, not intentionally spying. Don’t misunderstand, I didn’t rummage through your study.”

“I know.” To avoid breaking the mood, Yan Han kept his expression very low, while Pei Lang’s gaze fell on the little chibi resting on his shoulder.

Hiding in his mental “wardrobe”, Yan Han felt so embarrassed and shy that he almost wanted to cry. His inner thoughts must have been: What do I do now that I’ve been caught doing something bad? I’m so scared. My future wife is going to be so mad and never talk to me again.

Pei Lang couldn’t help but laugh, though he felt a little helpless. “You like me, right?”

There was no point in waiting forever for Yan Han to say it himself. Letting him continue to guess wildly wasn’t a solution either. Though Pei Lang was just as nervous on the inside, he still took the initiative to ask.

He hadn’t expected Pei Lang to ask it so directly. At this point, Yan Han didn’t want to deny it any longer.

He nodded, clenching his fists nervously. “Mm.” He tried to maintain the high-and-mighty demeanor of a powerful negotiator, cold and assertive, masking his nervousness and fear with his usual businesslike approach. “So, what do you think about this?”

If Pei Lang didn’t understand his inner thoughts, he would definitely be intimidated by this act.

This was far from how someone who liked another should speak. Yan Han was proud and aloof, and Pei Lang followed suit, responding in kind. He deliberately didn’t answer, instead placing the book on the dining table and sitting down to eat while vaguely saying, “I… well, maybe… I might kind of like you a little? Anyway, we’re already legally married, and we’re going to be stuck together in this contract for years. Maybe I can try being with you during that time.”

Pei Lang had said before that you never know whether tomorrow or an accident will come first, so it’s best to cherish what you have now. He was sure he liked Yan Han, so there was no need to keep running from it.

“What did you say?” Yan Han’s facade broke immediately. He thought he had heard wrong, so he asked again to confirm.

“I said…” Pei Lang hesitated, not wanting to repeat himself. He buried his face in his bowl, refusing to answer.

It seemed like something had been broken. Yan Han’s eyes were no longer cold. Instead, they were filled with possessiveness, love, and excitement. He maneuvered his wheelchair closer to Pei Lang, his hand gently stroking Pei Lang’s head, his soft hair feeling great. “I heard you loud and clear. I won’t give you a chance to regret it.”

Pei Lang looked up, stunned by the look in Yan Han’s eyes. It was something he had never seen before. It seemed like Yan Han couldn’t wait to label him, to claim him, to make him his own exclusive possession. This made Pei Lang both fearful and his heart trembled, his heart racing uncontrollably. He stammered for a long time but couldn’t say a word. “I… I’m full, I’ll go back to my room now.”

Pei Lang suddenly stood up, his legs weak as he stumbled upstairs, slamming the door behind him. He leaned against the door, breathing heavily. “Damn it! Why did I run? He’s probably more innocent than me. What does his tough exterior matter? Yan Han’s inner world is clearly blushing and smoking with embarrassment.”

Pei Lang immediately regretted it, cursing himself for being spineless. If he had flirted back, Yan Han would have definitely lost control.
