MMLDU Chapter 70

When my legs are better, we'll go travel.

Pei Lang was deeply frustrated, looking as if he were on the verge of crying, which made anyone who saw him feel heartbroken. Yan Han grabbed his hand to comfort him. “Don’t be sad. I’ve never had any hopes. As long as you accept the current me, I don’t think it’s such a big deal that I can’t stand up. Lang Lang, I love you.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, Yan Han’s body froze. A sharp pain shot through his legs. His flesh felt burning hot and his bones seemed to break inch by inch.

Such pain had occurred often in the past few years, but today it was more intense than any other time, even worse than the pain from the car accident. During the accident, the pain had been so severe that it numbed him, almost making him faint, blocking out some of the pain. This time, however, it was different. This time, the pain was happening while he was fully awake. There was no way to numb it—he had to fully experience all of it.

Even Yan Han, with his extraordinary pain tolerance, couldn’t stop himself from letting out a howl. Pei Lang was stunned, his mind blank as he looked at Yan Han’s face twisted in pain, then at his bright red legs. He completely lost his ability to think.

All he could see in his eyes was Yan Han’s suffering.

“What’s wrong? Does it hurt a lot?” Pei Lang quickly climbed onto the bed. Yan Han couldn’t respond, his teeth gritted as his whole body trembled.

“Doctor, I’ll call the doctor for you.” Pei Lang’s hand shook as he fumbled for his phone. He finally managed to get it out, but it fell to the floor.

“No need, I… can endure…” Yan Han forced the words out through clenched teeth, and that made Pei Lang lose control. His eyes turned red and moist, and then tears streamed down, falling in big droplets onto Yan Han’s painful legs.

“It’s all my fault. I thought I could cure your legs, but I didn’t think it through before using it on you. I’m sorry, I’m causing you so much pain.” Pei Lang was overwhelmed with guilt, unable to stop his tears. “I didn’t help you, I made it worse. I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”

“It doesn’t hurt anymore. I… already… don’t feel the pain.” Even though his face was contorted from the pain, Yan Han lied, trying to ease Pei Lang’s sorrow, even though he knew the lie wouldn’t hold. “It used to hurt… often… no, it’s not your fault.”

Hearing that, Pei Lang’s sorrow only deepened.

He held the trembling Yan Han tightly. There was nothing he could do. Not being able to call the doctor meant they could only wait together, waiting for the pain to subside.

“Lang Lang, don’t be sad… I love you.” The sudden confession left Pei Lang, who was still crying, stunned once again. By the time he came to his senses, Yan Han had stopped trembling. When he let go of him, he found that Yan Han had already fainted.

If he couldn’t find a doctor, he could find Su Jia.

Pei Lang quickly picked up the phone and called Su Jia, explaining the situation in a hurry. Su Jia arrived quickly. While waiting, Pei Lang helped Yan Han put on his pants, then lifted him into a wheelchair and took him downstairs.

Su Jia arrived fast. Qi Shaoheng was with him. As soon as they entered the room, they saw Pei Lang with red, swollen eyes from crying, and Yan Han unconscious. There was no time for many questions; they immediately took him away. After all the checks at the hospital, the final diagnosis was that the fainting was caused by the pain and there were no other issues with his body.

Yan Han was admitted to the hospital. No one knew when he would wake up. Pei Lang stayed by his side, with Su Jia and Qi Shaoheng also silently waiting with him.

The system hadn’t said the medicine would cause pain. That unreliable system, maybe it was deceiving him, maybe it had given the wrong medicine. Pei Lang deeply regretted not testing it on himself before giving it to Yan Han.

“Don’t be sad. The doctor said there was nothing serious. He’ll wake up soon,” Su Jia said, trying to comfort Pei Lang, who was still in distress. But Pei Lang, still consumed by guilt, couldn’t hear these words. “I just wanted to heal his legs. I didn’t mean to make him suffer. I never thought it would be like this.”

“What!?”

“What did you say!?”

Su Jia and Qi Shaoheng exclaimed at the same time. Qi Shaoheng rushed over in two steps. “You tried to heal his legs!? Even doctors can’t do anything, how could you try to treat him? Isn’t that reckless?”

Qi Shaoheng rarely lost his temper, and his tone was harsh. Seeing Pei Lang in his current state, though, he understood it wasn’t intentional—just a lack of wisdom. Since Yan Han was fine, his anger flared up and then quickly subsided. “Forget it, I won’t scold you. Yan Han treats you like a treasure. If he wakes up and finds out I yelled at you, I’ll be in trouble.”

What neither of them noticed was that Yan Han on the bed had already opened his eyes. “I already know. Dare to yell at my wife, your year-end bonus is gone.”

“Hey, I…” Qi Shaoheng was about to retort but froze when he realized Yan Han was awake. His face lit up with joy. “You’re awake? Does it still hurt?”

“Does it still hurt?” Pei Lang asked, his eyes red. Yan Han looked at him with gentle eyes.

“No more pain, wife.”

Qi Shaoheng’s words were completely ignored. Su Jia glanced at the stunned person and gave an unfeeling sneer.

Yan Han moved slightly. “My leg… feels a little strange.”

“What’s strange? I’ll call the doctor.” Pei Lang was about to leave when Yan Han grabbed him. Yan Han lifted the blanket, slowly raising his right leg. Though it wasn’t lifted very high, it showed that he could control his leg now.

“What’s going on? Did you really cure him?” Qi Shaoheng exclaimed, about to go find a doctor to check Yan Han again, but Yan Han stopped him, asking them to directly handle his discharge.

The room was left with only two people. Pei Lang went from stunned to overjoyed. It really worked, the medicine really worked. Yan Han, meanwhile, watched the changes in Pei Lang’s expression, a smile curling at the corner of his lips. “Thank you, Lang Lang. I never thought I would really be able to stand up.”

“I can’t figure out how you did it. I think you don’t want anyone to know. I won’t ask more, and you don’t need to explain to anyone.”

“Thank you.” Pei Lang knew Yan Han would start to have doubts, but he couldn’t worry about that now. He just didn’t expect Yan Han to protect him so much. It was hard not to be moved. “You’ve been off your feet for years. After we’re discharged and get home, we’ll practice walking slowly.”

“Okay.” Yan Han gently touched the corners of Pei Lang’s red, swollen eyes and, with a heart full of tenderness, wiped away the remaining tears with his fingertip. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“How do you prove it?” There was no need for proof, but Yan Han just wanted something in return. Pei Lang understood the meaning and left a kiss on Yan Han’s lips.

After completing the discharge procedures, the two1QSH and SJ returned and witnessed this scene, choosing not to disturb their boss’s moment.

After all the commotion, it was already evening when they got home. Yan Han’s legs seemed like they had been reborn—no pain at all. Even when he exerted strength, there was no soreness, numbness, or swelling. The only issue was that his legs were a bit uncooperative, but that was related to the years he had spent without using them.

This matter was kept from the fifth person, including Yan Han’s father. They decided to wait until Yan Han could stand and walk freely before telling anyone.

The next day, Pei Lang began helping Yan Han practice walking. When Yan Han got out of bed and placed his feet on the ground, his heart was filled with excitement, as if he was stepping into a new life. Pei Lang stood beside him, supporting him as he took two difficult steps. It went fairly smoothly. They walked back and forth for about ten minutes. By then, Pei Lang was already tired.

Yan Han was very tall, around 1.9 meters or more. Half of his weight was pressing on Pei Lang. After a while, it was indeed exhausting. “Once I can walk on my own, let’s go travel.”

“Okay.”

After resting for about ten minutes, they began practicing again. After about a week of practice, Yan Han could walk on his own, almost fully recovering to how he used to be. However, his personality had changed quite a lot. He was no longer as cold as before and his affection for Pei Lang had become increasingly apparent. He was also no longer strict with his subordinates.

He was learning how to love, how to express love. He lacked knowledge in this area, but fortunately, he was willing to learn, and the results were good. Among the various things that helped, there were plenty of random books that Qi Shaoheng had gifted him.

Love should be boldly expressed.

This was the experience he had gathered from reading CEO romance novels. In those stories, the protagonists had mouths but couldn’t speak, ending up in misunderstandings, breakups, and jealousy. It was exhausting to watch.

“Boss, this contract needs your signature.” Su Jia carefully placed the document on Yan Han’s desk, his eyes casually drifting to the screen, where Yan Han was planning a trip.

“Yes, we are deeply in love.”

“We have a new batch of trainees. Here is the list and their details.” Su Jia silently felt embarrassed and then pulled out another set of documents, continuing, “Our company’s investment in the movie New Life has been completed. Here’s the promotional plan for your review.”

“We’re planning to travel and this island is perfect for a romantic getaway.”

“…” I know, I know, you two are in love, but do you have to say it to me every day? Why not show it off to the whole world? “Our company’s movie New Life has finished production. Here’s the promotional plan for you to review.”

“How did you know we’re going to the movies tonight?”

Su Jia: “…” After a moment of silence, Su Jia turned to leave but collided with Qi Shaoheng, who was coming to report work. He shook his head and sighed.

“We’re doomed, really doomed. The boss can’t work like this.” Please, boss, if you want to travel, just go quickly. Stop showing off in the office.

Qi Shaoheng nodded in understanding. “I get it. If I had such a beautiful partner, I’d be showing off too.” He said, carrying the documents into the office. Five minutes later, he came out, shaking his head and sighing.

“No saving him, no saving him. His legs are fine, but his brain’s gone.” Like Su Jia, he believed their boss was beyond saving.

“What? Are you saying the boss has gone mad?” I knew something was off recently, should’ve taken him to see a doctor by now. Su Jia pulled out his phone to call Dr. Ge but was interrupted when Qi Shaoheng shut it off.

“The boss has love on the brain. He’s lost all interest in work and just wants to dote on his wife. There’s no saving him now. Xiao Su, our workload is about to increase.” Qi Shaoheng sighed in despair.

When the boss isn’t working, their assistants are the ones who end up having to work overtime.

“How about we ask the boss for a raise?” Su Jia suggested, followed by a long silence. Could they really ask for a raise? Their silence was deafening, like robots frozen in place.

Finally, it was Qi Shaoheng who spoke first. “How about you go talk to him?”

“I wouldn’t dare. You’re the boss’s good friend, it’s more appropriate for you to bring it up.”

Qi Shaoheng shirked the suggestion. “No, no, no. You go. You were the one who brought it up.”

“My suggestion was for you to try it out.”

“…” Another round of silence. “How about we go together?”

“…” After thinking it over, Su Jia felt this idea was a bit unreliable, so he eventually gave in. “Actually, I think as employees, it’s our job to help the boss. Asking for a raise is just too small-minded.”

“Xiao Su is absolutely right. I feel the same way.”

After that, the two of them continued working overtime in misery, hoping that the boss’s honeymoon phase would end soon and he’d return to normal work, or at least come back and give them a break.

What they didn’t know was that after they left, Yan Han took out his phone and began sweetly chatting with Pei Lang, his face split into a wide grin, smiling contentedly.
