MMLDU Chapter 89

Carry my wife back home.

With over two hours until the end, Xie Xuan took the initiative to serve as the host. Holding the microphone, he took the stage and began with an opening speech.

Who would have thought that a big star would appear at the bar, causing everyone to scream and cheer. As expected, Xie Xuan was very good at setting the mood. After his opening speech, he had the bar’s manager play the hottest, most popular song at the moment. He removed his team jacket, leaving only his loose gray sweater, and started dancing to the music.

Apart from acting, he was also quite talented at street dancing. His movements were graceful and cool, and his expression management was exceptional. His face, with its mischievous charm, made people’s hearts race, and the crowd below went wild.

The deafening screams and music filled the air, while Pei Lang and Zhao He stood by the preparation stage, enjoying the performance and clapping along with the audience.

“Thank you, everyone. Drink well, have fun, and I wish you all a pleasant night.” After Xie Xuan bowed, he looked up. The lights shone on his face and the fine sweat on his forehead sparkled in the glow. “Next, let’s welcome the nation’s sweetheart, Zhao He, to perform for you. Where’s the applause?”

As soon as he finished speaking, the crowd below erupted in cheers.

Amid the cheers, Zhao He took the stage. He selected an instrument, sat down, and began to play. This seemed to be a piano piece he had written himself, so there were no copyright concerns. The music was pure and clear, like a fresh mountain spring, flowing into people’s minds with a powerful impact.

The noisy bar instantly quieted down, listening to this auditory feast. It wasn’t until Zhao He finished his piece and stood up to bow gracefully that the crowd erupted in excitement.

There was no long pause. Pei Lang took the stage under Xie Xuan’s introduction.

As soon as he appeared, the crowd started shouting “Wen Yan”. Pei Lang calmly chose an instrument—a guitar. He sat in the lead vocalist’s position with the guitar, spoke into the microphone, and said, “I’ll sing a song for you, one for the person I care about the most. I believe he can hear it.”

As he spoke, Pei Lang accurately located Yan Han’s position. Yan Han was hidden in the darkness, holding a heavy camera. Even though Pei Lang couldn’t see Yan Han’s eyes from such a distance, his gaze pierced through Yan Han’s eyes and straight into his soul. Yan Han’s hand trembled. The video he was recording shook slightly.

“I dedicate this song, ‘Warmth,’ to everyone.”

The stage lights shone on Pei Lang. All eyes were on him. With his left hand pressing down on the chords and his right hand strumming, the beautiful intro played, filling every corner of the bar through the speakers.

You can casually say,

Anything you say, I am willing to do.

The melody of the little train sways,

It can all be real,

Anything you say, I will believe,

Because I trust you completely.

His gentle and clear voice sang the sweet song. His first note was nothing short of breathtaking. The melody was pleasant, the voice impeccable, and on top of that, no one believed Pei Lang could sing. The surprise of his opening left everyone in shock.

Yan Han, meanwhile, was intently watching his lover on stage. Every movement Pei Lang made, the way his lips parted and closed, and every lyric he sang was filled with love.

Because of his jealousy, Pei Lang always made public confessions of love. Yan Han’s heart was instantly wrapped in sweetness and happiness. His heart was struck by an indescribable emotion—burning and passionate—causing his eyes to tremble and heat uncontrollably.

Delicate affection,

The heavy warmth like a blanket,

The familiar sense of safety after being sunbathed,

Sharing hot soup,

Two spoons, one bowl,

The left atrium is warm and full.

When he reached this part of the song, Pei Lang’s smile widened. He smiled at the audience, but in reality, he was smiling toward Yan Han. This moment was another blow to Yan Han’s heart, making him nearly unable to resist rushing up to embrace his wife.

He made an effort to calm himself, set up the camera, and repeatedly told himself not to rush. The filming was almost over. After the recording ended, he could finally hug his wife. The singing on stage continued. Pei Lang’s smile was so beautiful and captivating that a crowd of passersby below became instant fans.

If it weren’t for the fact that the production team had made them sign a confidentiality agreement after confirming they would work here, by now, someone would probably have filmed a video and posted it online.

I want to say that you’re actually wonderful,

But you don’t know it yourself,

You’ve been truly kind to me,

Without asking for anything in return,

Loving someone and hoping they have a better life,

A warmth from the heart,

You are more important than yourself.

After finishing the song, Pei Lang stepped down, and Xie Xuan went up. The crowd below shouted for another song. While Xie Xuan was soothing the crowd and setting the mood, Zhao He unknowingly approached Pei Lang and cut off the microphones they were both wearing.

“Your singing voice is so familiar. You’re that person, aren’t you?” Zhao He said while observing Pei Lang’s expression. He didn’t see anything, as Pei Lang remained calm and composed.

Pei Lang knew it would eventually be exposed. He had already prepared himself to reveal his true identity, so he neither denied nor confirmed it. Instead, he kept smiling.

Zhao He smiled as well. Without Pei Lang saying anything, he already understood. “You’re very talented. One day, you’ll become a figure that others in the entertainment industry look up to.”

“You’re flattering me. I’m just doing things I enjoy. Whatever I become in the future, I’ll let things happen naturally. Brother Zhao, you’re amazing too. Your performance just now was fantastic,” Pei Lang responded. He never lost when it came to mutual compliments in the industry.

They both turned off their microphones and moved past that topic, chatting normally.

Zhao He graduated from a music academy, later switched careers to acting, and became a regular on variety shows. Because of his experience, he was more attentive to various things.

He had noticed that singer who called himself an ‘uncle’ a long time ago. He liked his voice and songs and often listened to them. When Pei Lang sang a few lines, Zhao He recognized it immediately, which is why he asked with such certainty.

Pei Lang wasn’t worried about being exposed. For the rest of the time, the three of them took turns performing until the time was nearly up. Xie Xuan went to find the person in charge to settle the payment while Pei Lang was performing. The appearance fee and alcohol commissions added up to quite a bit. The appearance fee was 9,000, and the alcohol commission was over 1,000, giving them a total of a little over 20,000. They decided to grab a quick bite before heading back to the hotel for the group gathering.

Both teams had completed their tasks as per the program’s requirements, and no points were deducted. Their opponents earned just under 20,000, losing by a small margin of a little over 1,000.

The host announced that the production team would donate over a million to those in need under their names, signaling the end of the filming. Once the cameras were off, Pei Lang instantly relaxed and went to his room to find Lu Lu for some snacks.

He also reminded him to pack up and prepare to leave.

After packing up, Pei Lang came out of the hotel holding a bag of chips and ran into other staff members. Xie Xuan was surprised and asked, “Are you leaving? The program arranged a dinner. Aren’t you going to eat?”

“I have something to take care of, so I’ll skip the dinner. Have fun yourselves.” Pei Lang walked ahead, with Lu Lu trailing behind him, dragging their luggage.

“Then be careful on the road.” Zhao He stepped aside to let Pei Lang pass. Pei Lang waved goodbye to everyone and went to inform the director before leaving the hotel.

Lu Lu took out his phone to book a flight. “Brother Lang, if we’re heading back tonight, the only flight left is the one at midnight. Should I book it now?”

“No need, we’re going to eat first.” Pei Lang buried his head in his phone as if texting. Lu Lu followed him.

“Eat? Does Brother Lang have other plans?” Since the production team arranged a meal but Pei Lang wanted to skip it, Lu Lu figured Pei Lang must have researched the city’s food scene and was planning to check out some spots.

“Mm, other plans.” Pei Lang quickened his pace. Finally, they arrived at their destination. A person was standing across from them. Pei Lang ran straight into their arms.

Yan Han was still dressed the same. After finishing the filming and handing over his work, he had left and come to this secluded spot to wait.

The two embraced, sharing each other’s warmth. Lu Lu looked on in surprise, quickly realizing what was happening. He carefully scanned the surroundings to make sure no one had noticed.

The sky drizzled with cold rain, and their hair gradually became wet. Yan Han let go of Pei Lang and took out a handkerchief to carefully wipe Pei Lang’s hair.

“Are you hungry? Let’s go to the hotel to drop off our things first, then go out to eat. Is that okay?”

“Sure,” Pei Lang replied, eagerly grabbing Yan Han’s hand and smiling brightly.

He also arranged a room for Lu Lu. After dropping off their things, they didn’t rush to leave. Pei Lang sat Yan Han down and took off his large black-framed glasses and mask.

It was the first time Pei Lang had seen Yan Han dressed so casually. Without the suit, Yan Han looked several years younger, and he looked much more relaxed. “You look great. You should dress like this more often.”

“As long as you like it. Aren’t you hungry?” Yan Han’s ears subtly turned red. It was funny—despite having done even more intimate things, they no longer felt embarrassed or their hearts racing. Yet, a simple compliment from his wife made him shy.

Feeling hungry, Pei Lang didn’t have the energy to tease anymore. He put Yan Han’s mask back on, covered himself up, and they headed out.

Lu Lu was considerate and didn’t interrupt their time together, taking care of his own dinner.

Of course, hotpot was the best choice in winter. Since Yan Han couldn’t eat spicy food, they ordered a yin-yang hotpot. This hotpot restaurant had great reviews, with fresh and complete ingredients. Pei Lang ordered half portions of everything so they could try more dishes. After having hotpot a few times, Yan Han gained experience. He was in charge of cooking the ingredients while Pei Lang enjoyed the food. Seeing Pei Lang eating with such joy, Yan Han felt a deep sense of happiness.

As they were eating, Pei Lang suddenly yelled that he wanted some alcohol. With Yan Han around, he wasn’t worried—anyway, if he got drunk, someone would take care of him. Hotpot paired with ice-cold beer made the meal even more appetizing. By the end, Pei Lang wasn’t drunk, but his cheeks were flushed, looking so… cute.

He linked arms with Yan Han as they walked, looking like a pretty doll hanging on him. To prevent Pei Lang from falling, Yan Han placed his free arm around Pei Lang’s waist to support him.

“Are you tired? You’ve been with me all day. Tonight, I’ll give you a massage when we get back,” Pei Lang said. Thinking about how Yan Han had been carrying the camera all day, his arm must be sore. He let go of him and struggled to walk on his own.

With his1PL tipsy steps, Yan Han smiled and gently pulled him back. “I’m not tired. I could even carry you back.”

Saying that, Yan Han ran in front of Pei Lang, bent his knees, and lowered his body. Pei Lang was slightly slow to react, but once he understood, he shook his head. “No, no, you’ve been carrying the camera all day. I can walk back on my own.”

“Come on, hop on. Let me experience what it’s like to carry my wife home,” Yan Han urged. Pei Lang was touched by these words, grinning widely as he jumped onto Yan Han’s back.

“Alright, husband, carry me home,” Pei Lang said, his smile a little silly as he lowered his head to rest on Yan Han’s shoulder, gently closing his eyes.

Yan Han could feel the weight on his back, not heavy but full of meaning because it was the responsibility of a lifetime—the person he loved the most.
