MRSG Chapter 37

Extra 8: Ferocious Beast Transfer Student 08

If the Director of Discipline was someone who liked watching combat matches, he would have realized: though Zhou Mu’s face was red, and You Qi’s gaze was strange—even though Zhou Mu looked like he was lying in You Qi’s arms—in reality, they each had a grip on the other’s vital points. One more move, and it could’ve been fatal!

The Director of Discipline lifted Zhou Mu up with one hand. Zhou Mu frowned and struggled, looking a little defeated.

What an utter disgrace!

How could he have let his guard down just because he was fighting You Qi and not notice the discipline director arriving? Where had his beastly instincts gone?

You Qi also stood up, looking a little awkward. He’d heard the director just now accuse them of puppy love.

Well… it was kind of… but does this count…?

You Qi glanced at Zhou Mu.

“I heard someone had gone up to the rooftop and knew something was up,” the Director of Discipline said gruffly. You Qi was a well-known student—he recognized him instantly. Zhou Mu looked familiar, too. “You Qi, you’ve always been a model student. How could you fall into early dating? This one’s in your class too, right?”

Before You Qi could speak, Zhou Mu already answered, “Yeah, I sit next to him.”

Ah right—he remembered now. The transfer student.

The director nodded knowingly. “Feelings develop over time.” He’d seen this many times before. He spoke earnestly, “You’re students now, your main focus should be on studying. Friendship between classmates is pure and beautiful, but it shouldn’t cross the line…”

Zhou Mu protested, “Teacher, we’re not dating! We were just fighting. If you came a little later, you would’ve seen me win.”

Director of Discipline: “And now you’re lying too? That’s even worse.”

Zhou Mu: “……”

He was about to argue more when Lord Cong loudly coughed, signaling him to stop. At their school, fighting got you in much more trouble than dating. And honestly, judging from what he just saw… calling it ‘dating’ might not be far off.

Beasts are all naturally cunning. Zhou Mu just didn’t know enough about human society—or maybe just didn’t bother learning. Now, he reacted quickly, “Oh… well, I guess you caught us.”

“Tsk.” The director gave him a glare. Something about this student’s tone rubbed him the wrong way, but Lord Cong’s theatrical cough had already grabbed his attention.

He remembered hearing them shouting before he came in. All four students on the rooftop were basically school celebrities. Lord Cong was a top student and frequently involved in arts and cultural events. Chun Shijiu was even more famous—he was the only student in school history to repeat two grades.

The director narrowed his eyes. “And you two! Chun Shijiu, what are you laughing at? Think you’re innocent in all this? They’re dating, and you’re… what? Cheering them on?”

Chun Shijiu: “……”

He wanted to argue that they were fighting, not dating—but whether they were dating or fighting, he had been cheering them on. So technically… the director wasn’t wrong.

“Come with me to the office!” the director snapped, dragging them off and alerting their homeroom teachers along the way.

On the way there, Zhou Mu leaned toward You Qi and whispered, “Why did Lord Cong stop me just now…”

The director whipped his head around with sharp instincts. “You two can’t even be apart for a moment?”

You Qi: “……”

Zhou Mu: “……”

You Qi was forced to walk on the other side.

Zhou Mu kept sneaking glances over like he was being torn from his lover. The whole vibe really did feel like a tragic love story interrupted by cruel fate.

Lord Cong muttered awkwardly, “Young Master, I told you to admit it because under school rules, fighting leads to a demerit or even expulsion if it’s serious. But if it’s just early dating… worst case, a warning, a parent call, maybe they separate you two.”

Zhou Mu’s eyes widened, furious: “Why would they separate us?!”

The director turned with a cold smirk: “Bold of you. Can’t wait to earn yourself a disciplinary warning?”

Lord Cong quickly whispered, “Not complying with the separation leads to a warning. Keep refusing, then it becomes a demerit.”

“Nope, no problem,” Zhou Mu replied instantly, all innocent. “We’ll break up immediately.”

Lord Cong: “……”

You Qi: “……”

……

The four were hauled into the office, where their three homeroom teachers had already gathered.

The teachers for Chun Shijiu and Lord Cong looked exasperated. When they got the call about early dating, they’d thought those two were the ones involved—only to find out they skipped class just to spectate someone else’s love drama.

So proud. Truly.

“Chun Shijiu, sure, we expect this from you. But Jiang Xiaocong…” Lord Cong’s teacher had once taught Chun Shijiu too, so they spoke casually and looked at both of them with bitter disappointment.

Lord Cong stared at the floor in embarrassment.

Meanwhile, Teacher Lin—You Qi’s homeroom teacher—was much more distressed. You Qi was her prized student. Zhou Mu had only transferred in this semester, but had quickly become well-liked among teachers and classmates. She’d arranged for them to sit together so You Qi could help him academically… and now she finds out this is the kind of help he gave?

“Director, are you certain? Those two seem close, sure, but…” Teacher Lin still clung to hope.

“I saw it with my own eyes. One of them was on top of the other, lying there like they just finished kissing. Both their faces were red. And these two were on the side cheering them on, saying things like—uh, never mind.” The director couldn’t bring himself to quote it all. “But I know what I saw. If this isn’t early dating, I’ll eat my hat.”

Teacher Lin sighed with disappointment. “Really…?”

“Ah? Oh right, we just kissed,” Zhou Mu said vaguely, going along with what Lord Cong had advised. Right now, the last thing they wanted was for anyone to suspect they had been fighting.

You Qi nudged him silently in exasperation.

Zhou Mu looked confused and said, “Then what should I say? You come up with something.”

Director of Discipline: “Exactly. I saw it all clearly.”

You Qi: “……”

“Call their parents,” the discipline director said. “This kind of thing requires both family and school intervention. Otherwise, they’ll just become more rebellious.” He hadn’t forgotten how Zhou Mu had loudly declared his ‘breakup’ with You Qi earlier—but he’d seen plenty of students sneak around behind adults’ backs. He wasn’t buying it so easily.

While the director continued his lecture, Teacher Lin was calling the students’ parents.

First, You Qi’s parents. They were very busy. Within seconds of answering the call, they said they had something urgent and would call back later—then immediately hung up.

Then she called Zhou Mu’s parents—which was even worse. No one answered at all.

“My mom and dad aren’t in the city right now, there’s no signal,” Zhou Mu blinked innocently. “If you need to reach my mom, I can help schedule something.”

Well, not much could be done then.

It was already Friday, so Teacher Lin thought for a moment and said, “Alright, both of you tell your parents about this when you get home. Have them come to my office on Monday. And take these next two days to reflect on your behavior—whether it was really appropriate. You’re students now, your focus should be on your studies. You can date all you want after graduation. For now, go back to class and move your seats. Zhou Mu, you’ll sit in the back of the first row.”

Zhou Mu had seemed indifferent up until then, but at the mention of sitting apart from You Qi, his expression turned reluctant. “…Okay.”

You Qi looked at him with a quiet, comforting gaze, though he didn’t say anything.

That look between them only confirmed in everyone’s minds that they were dating.

After the meeting, they returned to the classroom. Zhou Mu moved his desk to the new spot, with Teacher Lin watching through the window from the hallway to make sure he didn’t drag it out or stall.

Seeing this, their classmates gathered around, surprised. “Why are you moving? You’re not deskmates anymore?”

They’d always seemed so close. How could they suddenly be separated?

You Qi felt something was off and wanted to stop him, but it was already too late.

“It wasn’t my choice,” Zhou Mu gestured as he explained to the others. “The director of discipline caught me and You Qi in a puppy love scandal, and they’re forcing us to sit apart.”

Everyone: “Fuck?!”

Zhou Mu pointed at Teacher Lin outside the window. “The teacher said we had to move. Sigh!

He sighed dramatically and dragged his chair to the other side of the classroom, leaving behind a bunch of stunned, stone-faced classmates.

Xu Tianyi, who sat in the row ahead, stared at You Qi in a daze. “Huh??”

Everyone else turned their eyes on You Qi as well. Zhou Mu’s words were way too explosive. Puppy love—a taboo topic. And with these two, of all people?

You Qi stayed silent for a while, then replied flatly, “Yeah, they broke us up.”

Xu Tianyi: “I knew it! I always had a feeling!!”

You Qi: “……”

At this point, all the subject teachers at school had been notified by Teacher Lin to keep an eye on You Qi and Zhou Mu during class—but once school ended, there was no controlling these two beastly boys.

They exchanged a glance—no words—but still met up in perfect sync at the school’s highest rooftop point.

When You Qi leapt up, Zhou Mu was already crouched at the peak of the roof. He walked over and stood beside him. The two stood in silence, letting the wind brush over them. Ever since You Qi arrived, even the wind up here seemed more lively—it danced through Zhou Mu’s hair, grazed his cheeks, and left a faint pink flush.

They looked down at the schoolyard below, watching students laugh and joke as they left for the day.

After a fight, and getting caught for ‘dating,’ their relationship seemed to have evolved. No more hiding, no more deception, no more wary pretending. They didn’t treat each other like fragile human classmates anymore.

Now, there was something softer in between—something undefined and faintly romantic, swirling like the wind around them.

After a while—

Zhou Mu looked up and said, “My family has a house on a hillside in the suburbs. My mom lives there. I only go on weekends. Want to come with me? We can tell her about all this stuff, since she has to meet the teacher next week anyway.”

You Qi: “Sure. We should also get our story straight. A few people asked when exactly we started ‘dating.’”

Zhou Mu’s heart skipped two beats, then he laughed loudly, “Let’s say it was on my birthday, then!”

You Qi reached out and pulled him up. “Alright. On your birthday, it is.”

They jumped down from the roof together, the wind carrying their laughter as they went.

……

Zhou Mu’s house in the suburbs was a three-story standalone villa with a huge yard. The whole hillside belonged to his family. From the foot of the hill, they were already under surveillance, and security came out to check on them.

“Please register your purpose of visit,” the guard said, handing Zhou Mu a notebook.

You Qi looked at Zhou Mu, puzzled—wasn’t this his home?

Zhou Mu snapped at the guard, “Uncle, I have to register even when I come home? Go tell my mom I’m here.”

The guard looked troubled. “Young master, the madam said to be extra careful when you come—every time you leave, a few refrigerators’ worth of food goes missing.”

Zhou Mu: “……”

So stingy. Seriously, so stingy.

He angrily filled out the log, wrote You Qi’s name too, and only then were they allowed up the hill. At the gate to the yard, they saw Zhou Mu’s mother, He Shi, lounging in a rocking chair under the sun. She looked utterly relaxed, clearly well-fed and enjoying herself.

The gate of the courtyard rattled and Zhou Mu came in.

He Shi opened her eyes when she heard the sound, sat up straight and raised her hand lazily in greeting.

“I’m back, Mom,” Zhou Mu said as he entered. Then he introduced You Qi: “This is my classmate, You Qi.”

You Qi placed the fruit he’d brought off to the side and politely said, “Hello, ma’am.”

He Shi glanced at the fruit, then looked him over and said politely, “No need to bring any food just for a visit!”

You Qi: “……”
