OFCC – Chapter 13

Yi Wulan: …

So, who was it that was just clinging to her, not letting her move, and whose paws were now roaming all over her back?

Wasn’t it you?

Yi Wulan almost lost her composure.

She was already no match for Mu Yanxi in an argument. After being so deliberately misinterpreted and framed, she could no longer tolerate Mu Yanxi’s half-genuine, half-false probing. She took a deep breath and stressed, “I have absolutely no intention of doing anything to you. Don’t move and let me get down.”

Yi Wulan emphasized the word ‘absolutely,’ as if trying her utmost to prove her innocence.

Mu Yanxi nodded slightly. “Then…”

Before she could finish, Yi Wulan quickly interjected, “The fact that I fell on the bed was just an accident. You know my legs are inconvenient. When I tried to get up just now, the inertia from pressing on the quilt pulled me back.”

She spoke very quickly, not even shying away from mentioning her immobile legs. It really seemed like she was scared off by Mu Yanxi’s forwardness.

Mu Yanxi’s gaze once again fell on Yi Wulan’s reddened ear, visible through her hair, and she couldn’t help but laugh out loud again.

Yi Wulan was truly frightened by this kind of laughter from Mu Yanxi. “In my current state, I can’t do anything to you. You can rest completely assured.”

“I am assured.” Mu Yanxi nodded, but then raised another question, “But I’m afraid I won’t be able to stop myself from doing something to you. What do you think I should do?”

Yi Wulan: …

Yi Wulan looked at Mu Yanxi in disbelief, a hint of absurdity flashing in her eyes.

Mu Yanxi clearly understood the emotion in Yi Wulan’s eyes and said with a half-smile, “I’m very picky about where I sleep. I never sleep in guest rooms, unless you let me start sleeping here today.”

After a pause, she added a more convincing piece of evidence: “If you don’t believe me, ask my sister. Whenever I visit her, she always gives me the master bedroom.”

Extremely domineering, with an air of taking it for granted.

It perfectly matched the public persona of the second miss of the Mu family.

Letting someone else stay in a room you’ve lived in is actually a very private matter; every nook and cranny of the room is already imbued with the owner’s presence.

Yi Wulan was silent for several seconds before finally agreeing, “If you really want to, you can.”

Having received permission, Mu Yanxi patted Yi Wulan on the back and said in a tone as if coaxing a child, “So obedient.”

After saying that, she intended to let go of Yi Wulan.

But just as she started to move, it was Yi Wulan who spoke up to stop her. “Wait!”

Mu Yanxi didn’t speak, questioning her with her eyes.

Yi Wulan averted her gaze. “Pull up your clothes first.”

“Oh, so that’s it.” Mu Yanxi casually pulled her shoulder strap back up. “Actually, you could have just pulled it up for me.”

Mu Yanxi gently placed Yi Wulan back on the bed and was about to help her adjust her position, but Yi Wulan moved faster, shifting toward the edge of the bed and reaching for the wheelchair beside it.

Mu Yanxi swiftly pounced over, blocking Yi Wulan’s path. “What are you doing?”

“Going to another room.” Yi Wulan thought Mu Yanxi was put off that the bed wasn’t brand new and added, “Or you can make do next door for tonight, and after someone cleans up tomorrow, you can move in tomorrow night?”

Mu Yanxi finally understood what Yi Wulan meant. So she was giving her the room to sleep in alone, not for them to sleep in together?

No wonder Yi Wulan had agreed so readily.

But if they were in separate rooms, how could she transfer her special ability to Yi Wulan? Was she supposed to just watch as Yi Wulan’s life entered its final countdown?

No, impossible.

Mu Yanxi shook Yi Wulan’s hand. “Aren’t you staying with me?”

Yi Wulan used her other hand to brush Mu Yanxi’s away, refusing, “No need.”

Mu Yanxi made a sincere invitation, “It’s getting late. Since I’m already here, don’t trouble yourself with another room. Let’s just sleep together for one night, just one night.”

She said it as if she were haggling for vegetables at a market, open to negotiation.

Yi Wulan turned her head, turning a deaf ear.

Mu Yanxi’s eyes darted around.

Since the soft approach wasn’t working, she had to resort to the hard one.

She gripped Yi Wulan’s hand tightly and threatened in a low voice, “Yi Wulan, if we really get into a fight, you can’t resist me right now.”

Of course, Mu Yanxi was just saying it. She had her limits and wouldn’t actually take advantage of Yi Wulan’s immobility. She was just saying it to make a point.

As soon as she said this, Yi Wulan indeed reacted. She looked at Mu Yanxi, her eyes pitch black, revealing no emotion.

But her entire aura had become much more distant than before.

Mu Yanxi’s heart tightened, but she pretended to be unfazed. “You don’t want to make a scene and call others over just because of sleeping arrangements, do you?”

Yi Wulan’s lips pressed into a hard, flat line. “Just sleeping?”

“Just sleeping. I promise I won’t move around.” Mu Yanxi nodded, and seeing the other woman’s attitude soften, she emphasized again, “Really.”

The last word was spoken in a soft voice, with a little hook to it, as if she were acting cute.

But more than that, it was seductive.

Yi Wulan’s gaze fell on Mu Yanxi’s opening and closing lips. Unlike the bright glamour they had when she wore lipstick during the day, Mu Yanxi’s lips were a pale color, full and without any lines, like peach blossoms blooming in spring.

Mu Yanxi noticed Yi Wulan’s gaze and asked, “What are you thinking about?”

Yi Wulan withdrew her gaze, returning to her calm and self-possessed state. “Nothing.”

Mu Yanxi gave her a suspicious look, then her eyes fell on the alarm clock on the bedside table. Seeing how late it was getting, she pushed the doubt to the back of her mind, pulled Yi Wulan to lean back against the headboard, and began to persuade her:

“Anyway, we live on the same floor. Those maids won’t come upstairs. If you don’t say anything and I don’t say anything, who will know we slept together?”

“It’s just one night, right? We’re not doing anything else.”

“We’re already married. As your wife, don’t I even have the right to take care of you and show concern for you at night?”

Mu Yanxi chattered on, extremely noisy.

But her voice was pleasant, so it didn’t quite annoy Yi Wulan.

Yi Wulan was almost swayed. She knitted her brows. “…That’s enough.”

Mu Yanxi stopped and asked tentatively, “So, you agree?”

Yi Wulan lowered her eyes.

She had to admit that some of what Mu Yanxi said was right. Besides, with Mu Yanxi’s relentless nature, if she didn’t agree, she would probably say something even more absurd.

…It was just one night.

Yi Wulan weighed her options for a moment and said coldly, “Let’s sleep now. No moving around.”

Mu Yanxi’s lips curled into a smile. “Wouldn’t it have been better if you’d just done this from the start?”

Having persuaded Yi Wulan, the rest was much simpler.

Mu Yanxi felt the soft quilt, then looked up at Yi Wulan and called out casually, “Come on.”

Seeing this, Yi Wulan’s brows furrowed unconsciously.

Mu Yanxi blinked and reminded her meaningfully, “Yi Wulan, don’t tell me you’re thinking of backing out again?”

After a moment’s hesitation, Yi Wulan stiffly moved and slowly lay back down. She turned her face to the side, perhaps too unfamiliar and nervous, her whole body was extremely rigid, like an ice sculpture at the mercy of others.

Mu Yanxi had originally wanted to tease Yi Wulan a bit more, but seeing her like this, she gave up the idea, turned off the bedside lamp, and obediently closed her eyes.

Outside the window, the night grew darker, and the room gradually fell silent.

After the light was turned off, Yi Wulan was not as carefree as Mu Yanxi. She didn’t dare to move a muscle. Even though Mu Yanxi wasn’t touching her, she could still feel the other person’s breathing behind her.

Holding one position for a long time made her stiff. Yi Wulan gently turned over and lay flat on her back. Her gaze, aided by the faint moonlight, fell upon Mu Yanxi. Yi Wulan held her breath.

From her angle, she could just see a section of a snow-white neck, and below it, two delicate collarbones that rose and fell slightly with each breath, like two butterflies spreading their wings.

The Mu Yanxi of the past was always flamboyant and unrestrained, rarely showing such a docile and fragile side.

Realizing this, Yi Wulan’s mind fell into disarray, and her breathing quickened slightly.

It was like a pebble dropping into a calm lake, sending out ripples that lingered on and on.

Yi Wulan closed her eyes, calming her emotions.

It was a very strange, very unfamiliar feeling, and also, very uncontrollable.

It seemed that after Mu Yanxi married her, many of her own actions and behaviors had changed. She subconsciously wanted to escape this feeling, but every time, she was pulled back by Mu Yanxi, unable to escape.

Yi Wulan took a deep breath and gradually closed her eyes.

Only when her breathing became long and steady did Mu Yanxi, beside her, slowly open her eyes.

She turned slightly, her fingertips tracing the contours of Yi Wulan’s face. From those stunning peach blossom eyes, to the high bridge of her nose, to her thin lips, and finally hooking a strand of Yi Wulan’s hair, which looked like a fine piece of silk under the moonlight.

Seeing no reaction from Yi Wulan, Mu Yanxi boldly placed her hand gently on the side of Yi Wulan’s neck, a life-giving aura seeping from her fingertips. The two were very close, their breaths intertwining.

The air conditioner was set a bit low. Mu Yanxi felt a little chilly and moved closer to where Yi Wulan was.

In her sleep, Yi Wulan seemed to sense the special ability. At first, she was a little stiff, but gradually, she actually relaxed.

After Mu Yanxi had transferred half of her stored ability, she began to face another dilemma. Based on her newly awakened abilities, it seemed the closer she was to the treatment area, the better the healing effect of her ability.

The head was easy to locate, but the legs were a bit inconvenient. She couldn’t just crawl under the covers to transfer her ability to Yi Wulan, could she?

That would be too indecent.

Mu Yanxi sighed, slowly reaching her hand into the quilt. Her movements became increasingly stiff as she reached Yi Wulan’s waist, but she couldn’t bring herself to go any lower.

She quietly lifted the corner of Yi Wulan’s clothes, her palm stiffly pressing against the skin of her waist.

After completing this series of actions, even though Mu Yanxi was usually thick-skinned, her face couldn’t help but burn.

She forced herself to calm down, closed her eyes, and slowly sent the remaining ability into Yi Wulan’s body.

Over the past few days, she could faintly feel that the transfer of her ability had become smoother, like flushing out a previously blocked meridian. But perhaps Yi Wulan’s physical condition was too severe, or perhaps her ability level was too low, but that invisible barrier of obstruction still hadn’t loosened.

Treating the symptoms, but not the root cause.

Outside the window, the night deepened, and the stars and moon gradually dimmed.

Through the gap in the not-fully-drawn curtains, moonlight slanted in, enveloping both Yi Wulan and Mu Yanxi.

The night passed in a flash. When Yi Wulan opened her eyes again, it was already dawn. Feeling the soft, warm touch beside her that wasn’t her own, it took her several seconds to belatedly register the other person’s breathing.

Her heart nearly skipped a beat.

On the snow-white bed, Mu Yanxi was resting on her shoulder, docile and completely unguarded, her hand playing with someone’s long hair—it was unclear whose. Her gaze was fixed on her tenderly, a smile playing on her lips, as if she had been watching for a long time.

Yi Wulan froze, belatedly recalling the events of last night.

The two looked at each other for several seconds before Mu Yanxi broke the silence. “You’re awake too?”

Yi Wulan pressed her lips together and just nodded. “Yes.”

Just then, Mu Yanxi slowly leaned in. As she moved, her other hand, which had been under the covers, lightly brushed against Yi Wulan’s skin, causing Yi Wulan to freeze completely.

So much so that when Mu Yanxi leaned in, Yi Wulan momentarily forgot to react.

By the time Yi Wulan came to her senses, one hand had already blocked her path from behind, leaving her with no room to retreat. She said with difficulty, “What… what are you trying to do?”

“Hmm?” Mu Yanxi chuckled in a low voice, leaning close to Yi Wulan’s ear. A strand of her hair brushed against the hollow of Yi Wulan’s neck, bringing a ticklish sensation.

Even such a tiny touch made Yi Wulan shudder, as if facing a great enemy.

The morning sunlight streamed in, landing in Yi Wulan’s eyes and casting a faint glimmer on her long lashes. Seeing Yi Wulan like this, Mu Yanxi found it very amusing, but she didn’t let it show on her face.

She chuckled softly by Yi Wulan’s ear. “What do you mean, what am I trying to do? Isn’t it what you want to do?”

Yi Wulan: “Wh-what?”

Mu Yanxi lowered her head, gesturing for Yi Wulan to look down.

One of Yi Wulan’s hands was loosely draped over Mu Yanxi’s back. This was an unconscious action from last night when Yi Wulan, after receiving the special ability, had pulled Mu Yanxi into her arms.

Mu Yanxi squeezed Yi Wulan’s hand, her words carrying a hidden meaning. “President Yi was so passionate last night while sleeping, how come you won’t admit it after waking up?”

Yi Wulan: …

Yi Wulan stared at her own arm around Mu Yanxi, too shocked to speak.

She looked at Mu Yanxi as if she had seen a ghost in broad daylight, her lips parting as if to say something, but for a long time, not a single word came out.

The president who could shake the capital world of Yuncheng with a single decision was now rendered speechless by this. Mu Yanxi was about to die from laughter internally.

But on her face, Mu Yanxi maintained an expression of having been wronged. She even reached out to take Yi Wulan’s hand, which didn’t know where to go, and guided it under the covers.

She asked in a low voice, “Actually, there’s more. Do you want to lift my clothes and see for yourself?”

Even though she herself was the one who had been hugging the other person’s waist last night, she remained calm and composed, certain that Yi Wulan would never agree.

As expected, Yi Wulan snatched her hand back as if she had been burned, her expression already completely numb from the shock.

“Impossible. Don’t talk nonsense.” Yi Wulan finally found her voice. Usually so meticulous, her defense was now incredibly weak. “I’m not that kind of person.”

Hearing this, Mu Yanxi suddenly let herself fall, pinning down Yi Wulan’s hand before she could fully retract it. Then she quickly pulled the quilt up to cover half her face, leaving only her sly, fox-like eyes exposed, blinking as she feigned shyness. “You’re denying it so strongly, do you want me to recount it for you?”

Yi Wulan: …

Waking up to such a scene in the morning, Yi Wulan’s mind was still a bit muddled. But upon seeing Mu Yanxi’s clumsy acting and hearing her overly dramatic tone, she suddenly became clear-headed.

She recalled the scene from last night where Mu Yanxi had deliberately clung to her, lying beneath her and turning the tables with an accusation. It was remarkably similar to the scene before her now.

Yi Wulan finally calmed down completely. She said expressionlessly, “Stop fooling around. If you don’t want to sleep, you can get up.”

Mu Yanxi pulled the quilt down a little, her voice muffled by the fabric. “Are you planning to deny your debt?”

Yi Wulan knitted her brows. She knew that when it came to verbal sparring, she was no match for Mu Yanxi. She looked down and asked, “So what do you want?”

This was the opportunity Mu Yanxi had been waiting for. She immediately popped out from under the quilt. “From now on, we have to sleep toge—”

Mu Yanxi moved too quickly. Just as she poked her head out, her voice abruptly cut off.

—her lips landed right on the soft line of Yi Wulan’s jaw.

Both of them froze.
