PLCMW Chapter 1

“Miss?”

Chong Lou was puzzled as to why Miss Ying suddenly stopped. Their trip to Beishan was supposed to be a time-sensitive journey to find medicine for the family head.

“Something’s off about this place…” Ying Weige dismounted her horse and walked towards a pile of snow. It looked like a completely ordinary snow pile, yet her instincts were telling her that there was danger hidden here.

Ying Weige firmly believed that risk often came hand in hand with reward. She stood in front of the snow pile, examining it for a moment before crouching down and using her bare hands to dig into the snow. This startled Chong Lou, who let out a gasp.

At this moment, Ying Weige could no longer hear any outside sounds, fully absorbed in her own shock.

She had dug out a person! Or more accurately, a human-shaped creature.

Her skin was as white as snow, her entire body covered in frost, which only served to make her already stunning appearance even more breathtaking.

Chong Lou hurried forward, initially intending to help her master clear the snow, but upon seeing this, she too was dumbfounded. “How could there be a person inside here? Is she… is she still alive?”

Chong Lou had heard many local rumors during their journey and assumed this poor girl must be one of the sacrificial offerings selected by the people here. The world was in chaos, and with nowhere else to turn, the people placed all their hopes in the gods. Evil rituals were becoming increasingly common.

However, just as she finished speaking, the slumbering “god” opened her eyes, quietly gazing at them.

Ying Weige noticed the hollow, lifeless look in the girl’s eyes, and her heart tightened. After the girl opened her eyes, the strange aura surrounding her became even more intense.

Ying Weige, who had already tensed up and was warily watching the peculiar girl, remained on guard, but the girl made no movements.

It was as if she were alive, and yet, not alive at the same time.

Perhaps the treasure buried here was none other than this girl before her, Ying Weige thought. She considered it for a moment and then leaned down to lift the girl into her arms.

Although covered in frost, the girl’s body was not cold to the touch, and she was as light as a feather.

“Maybe she’s been frozen for too long. Let’s take care of her for now.”

Ying Weige mounted her horse with the girl in her arms. With her skills, carrying someone along while galloping across the snowy plains posed no challenge at all.
