PSMD – Chapter 10

Qiu Yang returned to her room and pulled open the curtains.

The weather today was as good as yesterday, but there was no sunset glow to see now, and the sun had already set while she was asleep, so she didn’t take out her SLR camera.

The window was also open, and a gentle breeze was blowing.

Qiu Yang closed her eyes and slowly let out a sigh, which drifted away with the wind to a more distant place.

Six more days.

This number could make one instantly sober.

The phone on the bed rang the next second, and Qiu Yang looked over.

She didn’t know who was calling, but it was already working hours, so it was most likely Tao Sixian.

10:30 AM, Tao Sixian’s wake-up time.

Moreover, Tao Sixian’s job was a flight attendant, flying four days and resting two, so she was probably the only one who would be free on a Monday morning.

Qiu Yang’s lips twitched, mocking herself for remembering these details so clearly.

She walked over, bent down, and picked up her phone.

It was indeed Tao Sixian calling. Qiu Yang pressed reject.

Tao Sixian didn’t give up and called again.

Qiu Yang pressed reject once more.

Tao Sixian didn’t call again but sent WeChat messages like yesterday—

【Yangyang, I want to hear your voice. You clearly said before that you would never reject my calls.】

【Yangyang, I miss you. Do you miss me?】

【Yangyang, I was wrong. Can you just pretend I never got married?】

Look.

Are these even human words?

Qiu Yang couldn’t believe someone’s moral compass could be so low, but she was also very grateful to Tao Sixian. If it weren’t for these words that crossed her bottom line, perhaps she might still have held a faint glimmer of hope for Tao Sixian.

This was also an important reason why she didn’t delete Tao Sixian.

The saying “people become charming in memory when they change” naturally ceased to exist for Qiu Yang.

Although this method also stabbed her heart and caused her more pain, it also made her more sober.

It turned out that the person she once liked was such an asshole.

Qiu Yang blinked, her eyes feeling a little sore.

She couldn’t help but recall the moments she had spent with Tao Sixian before.

Shen Ningruo knocked on the door at this moment.

Qiu Yang’s thoughts were completely pulled back, and she looked towards the door.

She pursed her lips, still walked over, and opened the door a crack.

“Not sleeping?” Shen Ningruo stood at the door, with no intention of entering. She had just finished filming a Douyin video for Wu Xiaoqiong and Zhao Mingfen.

Qiu Yang’s expression was cold: “I was woken up.”

This implied that Shen Ningruo’s knocking had disturbed her sleep.

Shen Ningruo raised an eyebrow, her gaze falling on Qiu Yang’s face, looking at the dark circles under her eyes.

They were still very obvious.

To lighten dark circles, the first thing was to get enough rest.

Heartbreak could make a person thin and haggard. Shen Ningruo’s gaze moved downwards, looking at Qiu Yang’s somewhat pointed chin.

Her thoughts stirred, and she couldn’t help but suggest: “Go out and have fun with me this afternoon.”

Qiu Yang looked up, still with that expression that kept people a thousand miles away: “No.”

Shen Ningruo’s eyes narrowed slightly, then she asked, “Do you usually exercise at home?”

Qiu Yang looked at her strangely, her lips pressed together, not answering.

Shen Ningruo had a look of “I understand”: “Definitely not.”

“Otherwise, how could your stamina be so poor?”

Qiu Yang: “…”

Indeed, she didn’t exercise, so last night, she couldn’t quite handle it even though it wasn’t much.

Shen Ningruo saw through her thoughts and reached out again, brushing Qiu Yang’s hair: “Go hiking with me this afternoon.”

“So you won’t be too tired to sleep with me tonight.”

Qiu Yang was now used to their way of interacting. Her expression still didn’t soften, but she hummed in response.

“Alright, go back to sleep,” Shen Ningruo withdrew her hand.

Qiu Yang didn’t hesitate and closed the door.

Shen Ningruo looked at the room number, her eyes unreadable.

She was a little unsure of her own feelings, and her state seemed a bit strange.

The most direct reason she came to Xicheng with Qiu Yang was to see the state of the other victim.

But now it seemed she had gotten herself involved.

And that wasn’t all; she even started caring about the other person. Although she found an excuse on the surface, only she knew that she asked Qiu Yang to go out with her so that Qiu Yang would be tired and could go to bed early at night.

Just sleeping.

Shen Ningruo felt a bit annoyed thinking about it and returned to her own room.

The scent of oranges from Qiu Yang seemed to linger on the bed. Shen Ningruo sniffed carefully, then closed her eyes, but didn’t fall asleep.

It wasn’t that she wasn’t sleepy, but a matter of habit.

She got up again, rummaged through her suitcase for the scented candle she brought, lit it, and only then got back into bed and successfully fell asleep.

This was Shen Ningruo’s sleeping habit; her sleep quality had always been poor, but lighting a scented candle helped her sleep much better.

Last night was an exception; after being with Qiu Yang, she was genuinely tired, her consciousness blurred as soon as she closed her eyes, and she slept with a stability she hadn’t experienced in a long time.

Shen Ningruo was woken up by a phone call, but she had slept for two hours. She looked at the caller ID; it was her subordinate, Ke Yezi.

“Director,” Ke Yezi got straight to the point, “The company has finally decided to cooperate with Wanming.”

Shen Ningruo’s closed eyes suddenly opened: “Wanming?”

Ke Yezi thought Shen Ningruo felt Wanming wasn’t qualified and immediately listed its advantages: “Wanming is very mature in the technology sector, and the terms they offered are very generous. Cooperating with Wanming is the best option for this project right now.”

Shen Ningruo smiled, but her tone still didn’t reveal any emotion: “I know.”

“When will the contract be signed?”

“The 23rd.”

“We need to wait for you to return.”

“Okay, I understand.”

“Send me the relevant documents via email later.”

Ke Yezi’s tone was respectful: “Okay.”

After the call ended, Shen Ningruo scrolled through the messages Yao Yao had sent her before.

It was a chat log from a week ago, which included information about Qiu Yang.

If she remembered correctly, the company Qiu Yang worked for was Wanming.

She searched for keywords and indeed found the chat records about Qiu Yang.

Qiu Yang worked at Wanming, as a deputy department head. Achieving this at 25 was quite good.

Shen Ningruo’s fingertip slid, and she finally pressed back.

Six more days.

Only six days.

Shen Ningruo’s eyes darkened, looking at the time displayed on her phone. It was almost one o’clock.

She pinched the bridge of her nose, then got up, changed her clothes, grabbed her room card, and knocked on Qiu Yang’s door.

Qiu Yang opened it after about ten seconds, her hair a bit messy, clearly just woken up: “What is it?”

Shen Ningruo didn’t stand at the door; she walked in, her eyes curving into a smile: “I want to sleep with you.”

“Is that okay?”
