PSMD – Chapter 114

The waiter spoke with a slight Yuncheng accent, but it didn’t affect anything; all four people present understood. After speaking, she withdrew to attend to other tables.

The atmosphere was a bit awkward. Qiu Yang blinked, “I don’t know who it is.”

Yue Chu glanced at Shen Ningruo’s expression, a smile playing on her lips, seemingly enjoying the drama. “Yangyang has always been very popular.”

Shen Ningruo raised an eyebrow. “As if I didn’t know?”

Yao Yao couldn’t help but lightly pat Yue Chu’s arm. “Say less, darling.”

Shen Ningruo turned her head again, quickly changing the subject. “Let’s go to KTV first, it’s a bit stuffy here.”

“Okay.”

The KTV was in the building next door, a large and well-known one in Yuncheng.

After leaving the restaurant, Qiu Yang proactively took Shen Ningruo’s hand. She exclaimed, “Oh dear, I really don’t know who she is. I didn’t even notice the surroundings while eating.”

“I know,” Shen Ningruo’s palm was a bit cool, but warmed up gradually with Qiu Yang’s grip.

Shen Ningruo tilted her head, looking at Qiu Yang’s bright eyes. “I didn’t say anything about you.”

Qiu Yang sighed, then furrowed her brows. “Since she knows my last name is Qiu, she must be someone I know. Those four words, ‘still like you,’ mean she liked me before.”

Shen Ningruo: “…”

Shen Ningruo couldn’t help but say, “Xiao Yang, how can you be the kind of person who brings up love rivals in front of your girlfriend?”

Qiu Yang gave her a brilliant smile. “Because I only like you.”

“There can’t be any misunderstanding about this. Of course, I have to figure it out. Otherwise, if something like this happens again, what if you doubt me? I don’t want you to doubt me at all; I want you to trust me without reservation.”

Yao Yao and Yue Chu walked ahead, already downstairs, and pressed the elevator’s up button.

They unintentionally overheard Qiu Yang and Shen Ningruo’s conversation.

Yao Yao quietly asked, “Is your junior always this good at coaxing people?”

“I don’t know,” Yue Chu shook her head, secretly glancing at Qiu Yang. “I’ve never seen her in a relationship before.”

Yao Yao quietly gave a thumbs-up. “Learned something.”

Shen Ningruo was initially a little angry, not at Qiu Yang, but at the situation, because this unknown person did something like that right in front of her.

What kind of behavior was this?

It was a provocation.

But after Qiu Yang’s coaxing, the anger immediately dissipated, allowing her to calm down again.

The elevator opened at that moment. After the people inside exited, the four of them stepped in one after another.

The atmosphere was silent; no one spoke.

The private room was booked by Yao Yao. After she finished at the front desk, the staff led the four of them to their destination.

Once they reached the room and the staff left, Qiu Yang sat down and seriously scrolled through her WeChat contact list.

Many people had confessed to her over the years, both male and female, some classmates, some people she met through part-time jobs. She hadn’t deleted many of them before because she didn’t see the need, especially since these people hadn’t continued to bother her. She even saw some posting pictures showing affection in their Moments, having clearly moved on from her.

So who could this person be? Qiu Yang was momentarily stumped.

Yue Chu had already selected songs and started singing with Yao Yao, while Shen Ningruo sat beside them, her lips pursed, still not saying a word.

Qiu Yang licked her lips, leaned closer, and whispered into Shen Ningruo’s ear, “Still angry?”

“No,” Shen Ningruo replied. “Waiting for you to find out who that person is so I can transfer the money to her.”

Qiu Yang clenched her fist. “Okay!”

“I’ll find out right away!”

Shen Ningruo chuckled. Qiu Yang’s appearance was too cute. She couldn’t help but raise her hand and rub Qiu Yang’s head. “I wouldn’t not trust you, don’t worry. Besides, I’m quite confident in myself. Anyone not as good-looking, not as excellent, and not liking you as much as I do, can step aside.”

Qiu Yang nodded. “Mhm, mhm.”

Qiu Yang continued scrolling through her WeChat list, occasionally opening a chat window, then pressing back to look at the next one.

Shen Ningruo’s eyebrow twitched beside her. After Qiu Yang returned from another chat, she asked, “Have all these people expressed their liking for you?”

“…I don’t quite remember. The ones I opened are the ones I have some impression of.”

Shen Ningruo: “…”

Shen Ningruo: “You continue.”

However, this method was like searching for a needle in a haystack. Yuncheng was large, and Qiu Yang had quite a few contacts on her phone.

Yao Yao and Yue Chu had already switched songs several times and were singing enthusiastically. They didn’t bother Shen Ningruo and Qiu Yang.

Anyone with a bit of sense would know it wasn’t the right time, and they weren’t senseless.

Shen Ningruo’s hands were on her knees, her fingertips tapping again. After some time, she heard Qiu Yang say, “Okay.”

“Who is it?”

Qiu Yang held her phone screen up to her. “…She found me herself.”

Shen Ningruo narrowed her eyes.

The note said “Senior Le Yu.” Because Qiu Yang had changed phones and couldn’t transfer the data, there were no previous chat records, only the latest ones.

Le Yu: 【Xiao Qiu Yang, why haven’t you found me yet?】

Le Yu: 【Should have just come up and said hello to you at the restaurant today.】

Shen Ningruo raised an eyebrow, handed the phone back to Qiu Yang, and slightly lifted her chin. “You handle it.”

Qiu Yang sniffed, thought for two seconds, and directly transferred the money for tonight’s meal.

Le Yu: 【?】

Le Yu: 【So distant.】

Le Yu: 【Can’t I even treat you to a meal?】

“Who is this person?” Shen Ningruo couldn’t help but ask.

Qiu Yang leaned closer to Shen Ningruo’s ear again. “She’s a senior from my university.”

“Yue Chu is your senior, this Le Yu is also your senior, why am I not your senior?” Shen Ningruo started getting angry at herself.

Qiu Yang’s eyes curved into crescents as she patiently explained, “She’s two years older than me. She never confessed to me before, but she showed her liking for me openly and subtly, like saying I was under her protection and no one could bully me, things like that. But because she never confessed, I didn’t suspect her just now.”

“Just tell her if she doesn’t accept the money, you’ll delete her,” Shen Ningruo snorted softly.

“Okay.”

“I’ll immediately convey my girlfriend’s message.”

Le Yu reluctantly accepted the transfer, adding at the end: 【When do you have time to come out for a meal together? I’ll treat you in person.】

Shen Ningruo’s eyes immediately scanned the words “I’ll treat you,” and her eyes widened like copper bells.

Qiu Yang comforted her. “I’ve never called her ‘Jiejie’.”

“I know,” Shen Ningruo was provoked and a bit worked up. “Just ask her to come out for dinner tomorrow. I want to see what kind of person this is.”

Qiu Yang was a little stunned. “Huh?”

“Bring me along.”

“She didn’t say you couldn’t bring family, did she?”

“Is she the only one allowed to take the initiative? Others aren’t allowed to turn the tables on her?”

Qiu Yang: “…”

It was truly rare to see Shen Ningruo act so childish, but it also made her seem more real.

Qiu Yang arranged to meet Le Yu tomorrow at 5 PM at a barbecue restaurant.

Only after the chat ended did Qiu Yang select a song, while Shen Ningruo continued to sit on the sofa.

Yue Chu had moved Qiu Yang’s song to the next spot in the queue, so it wasn’t her turn yet.

Qiu Yang pulled Shen Ningruo’s hand over, slowly tracing lines on her palm. She then leaned her mouth towards Shen Ningruo’s ear. “Ruoruo Jiejie.”

“If you’re this angry, do you want to punish me tonight?”

Shen Ningruo’s throat unconsciously bobbed. Qiu Yang even took the opportunity to kiss her earlobe.

Shen Ningruo slowly closed her palm. She turned her head, looking into Qiu Yang’s eyes. “Yes.”

“But it’s not a punishment.”

She was very satisfied with Qiu Yang’s reaction; she didn’t send any reply but directly transferred the money, which was polite, distant, and even a little cold.

Qiu Yang pursed her lips. “Okay.”

Shen Ningruo squeezed her hand again. “Did she keep in touch with you after graduation?”

“Occasionally, maybe once a quarter, just some casual greetings.”

“What’s her job now?” Shen Ningruo asked, like she was conducting a background check.

Qiu Yang answered one by one. “She seems to be an editor-in-chief at some company.”

Shen Ningruo opened her mouth, about to ask something else, when she heard Yue Chu say, “Yangyang, it’s your turn.”

Yue Chu handed over the microphone as she spoke.

“Okay,” Qiu Yang took the microphone.

Yue Chu sat down beside Shen Ningruo. “Shen Ningruo,” Yue Chu said, “I know who that person is. I saw her during dinner.”

Shen Ningruo: “Why are you acting like a traitor?”

Yue Chu laughed. “Not really. How was I supposed to know she’d pay the bill first and leave that message with the waiter?”

Yao Yao had gone to the restroom and hadn’t returned yet. Qiu Yang was the only one singing in the room.

It was an upbeat love song, and Qiu Yang sang it very well.

“But I think you really need to keep an eye on Le Yu,” Yue Chu said slowly. “Le Yu was my direct junior. After I went to Jingcheng, she pretty much took my place.”

“The only difference is that my liking for Yangyang was like an older sister’s for a younger sister, while her liking for Yangyang was like a lover’s.”

“Yangyang used to rely on her quite a bit.”

Shen Ningruo’s brows lowered. “She relies on me now.”
