PSMD – Chapter 119

Shen Ningruo generally wasn’t very interested in other people’s family matters, unless they were related to Qiu Yang. However, it seemed this matter had nothing to do with her Xiao Yang, so after hearing Qin Yu say this, she didn’t have much of a reaction. She just smiled and said, “Then you should just wait patiently for him to finish dealing with his family matters.”

“Okay.” Qin Yu picked up the cup on his desk. “This might take some time, and I can use this period to calm down. What if my feelings for him haven’t actually changed?”

“…I thought the same way before I got a girlfriend.” Shen Ningruo gave a kind smile. “Brother, good luck.”

Qin Yu almost spat out the water he was drinking. He looked at Shen Ningruo. “Why do you sound like you’re cursing me?”

“How is this a curse? These are just words from someone who’s been there. My experience is: don’t resist stubbornly.”

“If you’ve fallen for someone, you’ve fallen for them. Don’t let gender restrict you.”

Qin Yu didn’t want to hear her talk about this anymore. “Why are you more long-winded than my dad? I never felt this way before.” He waved his hand. “You should go back first. I’ll be staying at the company for a while.”

“Got it.” Shen Ningruo pushed her chair back and stood up, asking knowingly, “Then are you going to Wanming Company in a couple of days?”

Qin Yu was prompted by her words. After a brief hesitation, he nodded. “Yes, of course I’m going.”

“Our two companies are cooperating, we should meet. You’ll come with me then.”

“Alright.” Shen Ningruo’s eyes curved into a smile. “Just in time, I can also see my girlfriend.”

Qin Yu: “…”

Qin Yu: “I can’t stand you anymore, hurry up and leave.”

Shen Ningruo was thus “kicked out” by Qin Yu. She wasn’t annoyed at all, but rather found it very amusing.

Because she hadn’t paid much attention to Qin Yu’s emotional life before, she didn’t ask much about it. She had thought Qin Yu would probably want to be a carefree bachelor his whole life, which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. But she didn’t expect Qin Yu to pull something like this.

As for Wen Yuan…

Shen Ningruo thought of the CEO of Wanming and frowned. She didn’t go back immediately but went to her office. She rummaged through her drawer and found the information table on Wanming Company’s senior management that Ke Yezi had previously compiled for her.

Each person had a full page of introduction, but Qiu Yang wasn’t included. When she opened the file, the first page displayed Wen Yuan’s information. Besides his name and gender, it listed the important things Wen Yuan had done for Wanming in the past two years since taking office.

For example, he changed the end of the workday to 5 PM, and he also increased employees’ salaries. For the staff, Wen Yuan was definitely a good boss. Although young, he was mature in his thinking and would win over employees through details, providing a very good working environment.

The table also included Wen Yuan’s photo, with a formal picture in a suit and a casual private photo. However, given his age, he still looked a bit young, but he was quite handsome, the type of “puppy boyfriend” many girls liked nowadays.

Shen Ningruo touched her chin, her brow still furrowed.

She wondered if she had just imagined it, but looking at Wen Yuan’s photo, she felt his eyebrows and eyes were somewhat similar to Qiu Yang’s.

Her lips tightened, feeling that her thought in Qin Yu’s office had been too hasty.

What if Wen Yuan really was Qiu Yang’s brother?

She held her breath, her mind racing, and opened her phone.

She first replied to Qiu Yang’s message, and then searched online for more information about Wen Yuan.

Wen Yuan was a well-known young master in the Jingcheng circle. There was quite a bit of news about him, and it wasn’t kept very secret; you could find a lot with a simple search.

Shen Ningruo scrolled through carefully until she saw someone mention that Wen Yuan’s mother’s surname was “Qiu.” At that moment, her fingertips paused and trembled slightly.

Could there really be such a coincidence in the world?

Or was the “what if” she had just thought of not a “what if” at all, but a certainty?

Shen Ningruo swallowed with difficulty. She was a little afraid to think about it. The more news she saw, the more nervous she became, until she even saw a photo of Mrs. Wen.

At that moment, the stone in her heart dropped. Looking at Mrs. Wen’s eyebrows and eyes, which were even more similar to Qiu Yang’s, she became more certain of her guess.

Since Wen Yuan was now struggling with whether to acknowledge Qiu Yang, did this mean that Qiu Yang’s mother, now Mrs. Wen, also knew about the existence of her daughter, Qiu Yang?

Working in her own son’s company, and having been there for four years.

Did she know before, or did she only find out recently?

A million questions popped into Shen Ningruo’s mind. She was now in a state of confusion.

She had told Qiu Yang before that she would definitely have a chance to see her mother again in the future. At that time, she was comforting Qiu Yang, but now that this wish might actually come true, Shen Ningruo felt a bit bewildered.

She turned off her phone and calmed her breathing.

She hadn’t recovered from the shock yet; she needed some time. Although she had experienced quite a bit in her previous 28 years, this still left her at a loss.

Qiu Yang was her Xiao Yang. Anything related to Qiu Yang, she would care about deeply.

Her lips tightened, and she began to struggle with a decision—

Did she need to tell Qiu Yang in advance?

She rubbed her forehead, and the final answer she arrived at was: no.

It was right for her to care about Qiu Yang’s matters, but that didn’t mean she should interfere directly. Moreover, this was related to the family affection that Qiu Yang had always cared about, and it should be something Qiu Yang experienced herself.

If she got involved beforehand, the nature and feeling of it would change significantly.

After figuring this out, Shen Ningruo calmed down and decided to pretend she didn’t know. She only hoped that when Wen Yuan and Qiu Yang acknowledged each other, it wouldn’t be too much of a shock for Qiu Yang.

Qiu Yang sent another message, saying that she and Le Yu were about to finish eating and couldn’t possibly stay at the restaurant forever.

Shen Ningruo replied to the message, then put the file back in the drawer and got up to leave the office.

Unexpectedly, she ran into Qin Yu at the elevator. Seeing her standing beside him, Qin Yu blinked, a little surprised. “Why haven’t you gone back yet, Ruoruo?”

“Went back to the office to look at some documents.”

Qin Yu looked at her again, a little worried. “You don’t look well. What’s wrong?”

“Nothing.” Shen Ningruo didn’t plan to tell Qin Yu that the sister Wen Yuan was going to acknowledge was her girlfriend. “Just a little tired.”

Qin Yu shook his head. “Ah, you just work too hard. Since I’m at the company for the next while, I’ll help you share some of the burden.”

The elevator doors opened. Shen Ningruo stepped in, laughing softly. “Brother, is this called ‘sharing the burden’? Shouldn’t many of the company’s matters be handled by you?”

Qin Yu pressed the button for the basement level and cleared his throat lightly. “Qiyao is enough with just you.”

Shen Ningruo ignored the words of this hands-off CEO. “You’d better do more after you come back.”

She had been at Qiyao for seven years, and in those seven years, she had only taken one leave, which was when she went to Xicheng with Qiu Yang in March. It had to be said, that one vacation was extremely worthwhile.

At least from then on, she had Qiu Yang.

And her Xiao Yang went home after parting ways with Le Yu. After waiting for about twenty minutes, she heard the sound of the password being entered at the door.

Pingzi was even more excited than Qiu Yang. It immediately jumped down from the cat tree, waddling its somewhat round body directly to the door and squatting. As soon as Shen Ningruo appeared, it became even more exaggerated, going straight for her face and starting to rub against her.

Qiu Yang: “…”

Qiu Yang looked at Shen Ningruo. “It’s been bought off by the luxurious cat tree you bought.”

Shen Ningruo bent down and stroked Pingzi’s head. She had already put away her thoughts on the way, appearing as if nothing had happened. Hearing Qiu Yang say this, she raised her eyes and asked with a smile, “Then did the DSLR I bought for you buy you off?”

“Yes.” Qiu Yang nodded seriously. “To repay Ruoruo Jiejie’s kindness in buying the camera, I’ll take more pictures of you from now on.”

Shen Ningruo carried Pingzi inside. The soft rug under her feet made no sound as she walked towards Qiu Yang. She bumped her forehead against Qiu Yang’s forehead, then continued with a curved smile, “That’s not how you repay kindness, madam.”

“Then how do I repay it?” Qiu Yang unconsciously used “ya” at the end of her sentence again, adding a touch of playfulness.

Shen Ningruo put Pingzi down from between them. She lowered her head slightly, touching her nose to Qiu Yang’s nose, and then opened her mouth to reply, “You’ll know tonight.”

Saying this, she kissed Qiu Yang’s lips, then sat down beside Qiu Yang. “I didn’t go back to the company for anything urgent. It was our boss’s private matter. He’ll be staying in Yuncheng for a while now.”

“President Qin?” Qiu Yang asked, she still knew Qin Yu’s name.

Since the two companies were cooperating, they would definitely look into some basic information. Otherwise, it would be embarrassing to mistake someone.

Shen Ningruo leaned her head back slightly, looking at the hanging lamp. She hummed in affirmation. “Yes.”

“Qin Yu is like an older brother who watched me grow up. He used to be our neighbor, but later my family had an accident and moved out. I’ve been working at Qiyao since I graduated from university. Many other big companies tried to poach me during that time, but I never left.”

“Because you’re repaying a favor.” Qiu Yang immediately understood the meaning behind her words.

Shen Ningruo tilted her head, placing her left palm on the back of Qiu Yang’s head and gently patting it. “Xiao Yang, Xiao Yang, why are you so smart?”

“I don’t know.”

Shen Ningruo raised an eyebrow. “What’s there not to know? Isn’t it because your girlfriend is smart?”

“Mhm, mhm, if you say so.”

Shen Ningruo laughed and leaned in to playfully tease Qiu Yang. However, she still couldn’t help but think about Qiu Yang’s family matters, trying her best not to show it.

After all, Qiu Yang had said before that she knew what she was thinking even from a frown.

They understood each other too well.

Pingzi was eating its cat food, hearing the laughter coming from behind it. For some reason, it suddenly felt that the cat food in its mouth wasn’t as tasty anymore. It turned its head and quietly walked to the bottom of the cat tree, then jumped up and lay down by itself.

Shen Ningruo was pinned down by Qiu Yang. Her smiling eyes curved. “Alright, Xiao Yang.”

“Tonight, you can sleep with me on the sofa.”

“…Shen 0 Ruo.”
