The new job Qiu Yang wanted to find was similar in nature to her previous one at Wanming. It was a field she was relatively familiar with, and with her work experience, she could secure a good position.
Shen Ningruo had no objection to this, but she still hoped Qiu Yang could rest for a while longer, especially with various things piling up recently. However, Shen Ningruo didn’t say these words again because she understood Qiu Yang.
Once she decided to do something, she wouldn’t hesitate.
Moreover, Qiu Yang’s registration for the photography competition had also ended, so Qiu Yang definitely wouldn’t be able to sit still.
Qiu Yang started revising her resume on Tuesday. She had been at Wanming for four years without changing jobs, so her resume was four years out of date. Now, revising it made it much richer and looked quite impressive.
She submitted her resume to five companies in the morning and received interview invitations from three companies in the afternoon.
So, on Wednesday at eight o’clock, Qiu Yang got up.
The interview was scheduled for nine-thirty. She needed to pick out suitable clothes and put on appropriate makeup.
The first company she was interviewing with wasn’t far from Shen Ningruo’s place, about four kilometers away. It would take about ten minutes to drive there quickly.
Qiu Yang left at nine o’clock. The roads were still a bit congested at that time, but only slightly. She took a taxi and arrived at the company’s reception ten minutes early.
It had been a long time since she’d participated in an interview, but Qiu Yang wasn’t nervous at all. She had been involved in so many important work occasions at Wanming and had spoken many times. Answering the interviewer’s questions was well within her capabilities.
The afternoon interview was similar. After two interviews, Qiu Yang felt a bit more confident.
However, going out like this made her feel a bit tired, even though she had only rested for just over a week.
Shen Ningruo noticed her fatigue when she came back in the evening. Hearing Qiu Yang mention it, she smiled, “Did you ever consider it’s because your period isn’t over yet?”
Qiu Yang: “…”
She had completely forgotten.
Shen Ningruo shook her head helplessly and pointed at the sofa: “Lie down.”
“…?” Qiu Yang blinked, “My period isn’t over yet.”
Shen Ningruo raised an eyebrow: “What are you thinking?”
“I’ll give you a back massage.”
Qiu Yang obediently lay on the sofa, stretching her hand forward, looking at her phone while enjoying Shen Ningruo’s massage.
Pingzi stayed on the climbing frame, watching the scene before him. His heart was already calm.
He was used to such affectionate scenes.
Qiu Yang scrolled through her email: “I have interviews with two companies tomorrow, morning and afternoon again.”
“Have you made up your mind?” Shen Ningruo asked.
“Yes.”
“I might go with the first company I interviewed with today. The benefits and conditions are better, and it’s very close to home.”
Shen Ningruo nodded: “That’s good.”
Qiu Yang’s WeChat received a new message at this moment. She opened it and saw it was from her landlord, asking if she had decided.
Qiu Yang slapped her forehead. Shen Ningruo furrowed her brow: “What’s wrong?”
“I almost forgot my previous place is expiring soon. The landlord is asking if I want to renew the lease.”
Shen Ningruo stopped massaging her back: “So, are you going to rent it?”
Qiu Yang tilted her head: “No.”
She pursed her lips: “But Ruoruo, I want to buy an apartment in Yuncheng this year, just a single-person one. I can afford the down payment.”
Housing prices in Yuncheng weren’t ridiculously high yet. Qiu Yang had looked into it before. Based on a 30% down payment, her current savings could still buy a small apartment.
Shen Ningruo pursed her lips, unsure how to respond for a moment.
Qiu Yang didn’t get a response, so she tilted her head further, looking at Shen Ningruo’s face: “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Shen Ningruo continued massaging her back, “Just thinking about which area would be suitable.”
“Of course, somewhere close to you, that would be very convenient.”
Shen Ningruo: “Okay.”
She forced a smile: “I think so too.”
After a while, Qiu Yang felt comfortable all over, and Shen Ningruo stopped her movements and went to the bathroom to shower.
Qiu Yang had already started looking at apartments on her iPad and didn’t notice anything unusual.
After Shen Ningruo showered and dried her hair, she used being tired from work as an excuse to lie in bed and pull up the covers.
After Qiu Yang finished her wash-up, she hugged Shen Ningruo from behind and quietly said, “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.”
Qiu Yang had another interview the next day, so she got up around the same time as Shen Ningruo. They ate breakfast together before heading to their different destinations.
Shen Ningruo drove herself to the company today. She had gotten used to Qiu Yang driving her to and from work for a week, and now that she was alone in the car, she felt a bit disappointed.
However, she knew exactly what she was disappointed about—
Qiu Yang wanted to buy an apartment.
Actually, buying an apartment wasn’t the main point, but rather Qiu Yang’s subsequent remark, “That would be very convenient.”
Convenient for what?
Convenient for visiting?
If not for convenient visiting, what else could it be convenient for?
Shen Ningruo started overthinking. The thought that Qiu Yang might move away from her after buying an apartment made her feel uncomfortable.
She didn’t mean to not support Qiu Yang buying an apartment; she just wasn’t prepared for the possibility of being separated from Qiu Yang later.
This home had finally gained warmth because of Qiu Yang.
And more importantly, was living with her not ideal for Qiu Yang?
Was that why she had the idea of living somewhere else?
But Shen Ningruo thought and thought, and in all the time she had been with Qiu Yang, they hadn’t had any conflicts.
It couldn’t be… could it?
She arrived at the company feeling confused and uneasy. She almost zoned out during the meeting. After returning to her office and listening to Ke Yezi’s work report, she received a new message from Qiu Yang.
Qiu Yang first said she had finished her morning interview, and then sent screenshots of a few residential areas, with accompanying text like “This is very close to you.”
Shen Ningruo’s temples throbbed. Looking at these words made her feel annoyed and helpless, but she didn’t want to be dismissive of Qiu Yang, so she eventually looked at the residential areas seriously.
At lunch in the cafeteria, Shen Ningruo was still thinking about this. Qin Yu came over with his tray and sat across from her, immediately noticing her frustration: “What are you thinking about? You look like a volcano about to erupt.”
The cafeteria was noisy, but understanding what the other person was saying was still possible. Shen Ningruo put a mouthful of rice into her mouth and shook her head when she heard the question: “Nothing.”
Qin Yu “tsk”ed: “Alright then.”
Shen Ningruo: “…”
Shen Ningruo still sighed: “You tell me, why does she want to buy an apartment when I already have one?”
“Who? Xiao Qiu?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s simple. Because your apartment isn’t hers.”
“But there’s no difference, everything I have is hers.”
“How is there no difference?” Qin Yu looked strange, “Does your property deed have her name on it? No, right? You say there’s no difference, but is there? The law doesn’t recognize that, does it?”
“Besides, she’s just buying an apartment. I’ve bought three apartments, and no one says anything about me.”
Shen Ningruo brought up the point she was concerned about: “But I’m overthinking it a bit. I feel like she wants to buy an apartment because she wants to leave me.”
Qin Yu opened his mouth, but finally just said: “Forget it, this is between you two as a couple. I won’t give too many opinions. It’s best if you talk to her about these things and let her know what you’re thinking.”
Qin Yu said this with a sigh of emotion: “Damn, I’m really good. I’m practically a relationship expert.”
Shen Ningruo’s face darkened.
However, what Qin Yu said wasn’t unreasonable. She had to express her thoughts, otherwise, things couldn’t continue like this.
She knew she had a tendency to overthink, but once this emotion arose, only a good talk with Qiu Yang could resolve it.
Otherwise, if she let her thoughts fester on their own, the problem would become much bigger.
Shen Ningruo booked a high-end Western restaurant during her free time and sent a message to Qiu Yang.
It seemed like it had been a long time since they had spent a romantic evening together.
Qiu Yang went to the first floor of Qiyao Company to wait for Shen Ningruo again, but this time it wasn’t a repeat of the previous mishap. As soon as Qiu Yang entered the elevator, she met Shen Ningruo’s eyes.
Shen Ningruo’s smile brightened, and looking at the back of Qiu Yang’s head, her mood improved.
When they reached the basement level, Shen Ningruo caught up with Qiu Yang’s pace. She cleared her throat: “I just remembered the first time I met you in Yuncheng.”
“Hmm?” Qiu Yang took her hand, “The time we met at Wanming?”
“Yes.”
“You were standing behind me, but I kept looking back at you using the reflective elevator door.”
“And talking to you was also intentional on my part.”
Qiu Yang tightened her grip on Shen Ningruo’s hand: “Director Shen, you’re quite the schemer.”
“How else would I end up with you without being a schemer?” Shen Ningruo was quite proud.
Qiu Yang seriously “hmm”ed for a few seconds and replied: “Based on how much I like you now, you wouldn’t have to do anything, I would definitely still like you.”
“Really?” Shen Ningruo’s mood improved further hearing Qiu Yang say sweet words.
Qiu Yang used the dim light to clearly see Shen Ningruo’s profile. She nodded: “Of course it’s true.”
“Because we are like the positive and negative poles of a magnet. Once we meet, we will definitely attract each other and can’t be separated.”
As soon as Qiu Yang finished speaking, they had reached the car. She wanted to walk around to the passenger side, but Shen Ningruo didn’t let go of her hand.
“What’s wrong?” Qiu Yang was a little confused, “Was what I said wrong?”
Shen Ningruo didn’t say anything. She first opened the car door and had Qiu Yang sit sideways in the driver’s seat.
“Xiao Yang.” Shen Ningruo’s voice deepened. She looked at Qiu Yang’s bright eyes, thinking about how to ask.
Qiu Yang squeezed her hand, quietly waiting for her to continue.
Shen Ningruo softened her breathing: “What did you mean last night when you said buying an apartment would be very convenient?”
“Did you mean it would be convenient to not stay by my side and be able to go back anytime?”
As Shen Ningruo said this, her nose tingled. She tried hard not to let Qiu Yang notice, so Qiu Yang wouldn’t worry.
Qiu Yang was startled. She hadn’t realized Shen Ningruo would think so much because of one sentence.
But this was very normal.
“No,” Qiu Yang leaned in and kissed her chin, “What I meant by convenient was just that if we buy too many things later and don’t have space, we can put them at my place.”
“Also, if we get tired of living here, we can go live in the new place for a bit, a change of scenery for a change of mood.”
“It’s not that I don’t want to stay by your side.”
Shen Ningruo lowered her head and blocked her mouth with a kiss.
