PSMD – Chapter 159

Qiu Yang hadn’t expected Shen Ningruo to have such thoughts. It surprised her and also made her realize her own shortcomings.

Thinking back, Shen Ningruo had shown clear signs after hearing what she said last night, but she had thought Shen Ningruo was just tired, which was why she seemed a little different than usual, and she hadn’t given it any further thought.

Shen Ningruo’s kiss was serious and a bit dominant. She held Qiu Yang’s waist tightly, her tongue swimming in Qiu Yang’s mouth.

There were other people walking through the parking lot, and some saw the scene, but they didn’t pay much attention.

Everyone was an adult; what was so special about kissing in a parking lot!

Qiu Yang’s arms were already wrapped around Shen Ningruo’s neck, but her head was tilted back the whole time, which was somewhat uncomfortable. When it felt like enough, she let out a soft hum, and only then did Shen Ningruo release her.

The light was dim, but the atmosphere had heated up considerably because of the kiss.

Shen Ningruo licked her lips, looking at Qiu Yang’s face in the faint light, her voice low: “Was I a bit childish?”

“What are you thinking?” Qiu Yang turned her neck. Shen Ningruo noticed this immediately and placed her hand on the back of Qiu Yang’s head, gently massaging it.

Without waiting for Qiu Yang to speak again, Shen Ningruo said first, “Go sit in the passenger seat. Your neck is uncomfortable.”

Qiu Yang opened her mouth: “Okay.”

She smiled: “It’s not that serious.”

Shen Ningruo shook her head, led Qiu Yang down again, and once Qiu Yang was seated in the passenger seat, she had Qiu Yang lower her head slightly and continued to rub her neck.

“It’s okay to be childish, no one forbids it. Even if it is childish, what about it?” Qiu Yang said at this moment, “Besides, this has nothing to do with being childish. Ruoruo, the problem is with me, for saying things that made you misunderstand and overthink.”

Qiu Yang said this and pulled Shen Ningruo’s hand over, slowly raising her head to look into Shen Ningruo’s eyes: “After I got together with you, I never thought about not staying by your side.”

Shen Ningruo softly responded with a sound: “Mm.”

Qiu Yang pursed her lips again: “Are you still worried? Your mood doesn’t seem very high.”

“No,” Shen Ningruo bent slightly at the waist, maintaining eye level with Qiu Yang to prevent her neck from getting sore again, “I was just recalling my day and felt very…”

She thought of an adjective: “Difficult to bear.”

Other cars in the parking lot were already driving out one after another. Shen Ningruo had no intention of leaving immediately. After saying the word, she cupped Qiu Yang’s face and smiled first: “And I feel like I was being silly.”

“Then what am I?” Qiu Yang raised an eyebrow.

Shen Ningruo pondered for two seconds before giving an answer: “Also silly.”

“Two people being silly together is a perfect match.”

“You’re right.” Qiu Yang’s eyes were full of laughter, “So, is this silly person in front of me going to have dinner with me?”

“Okay.”

After Shen Ningruo finished speaking, she leaned forward a bit, kissed Qiu Yang’s lips again, then buckled her seatbelt and closed the car door.

The atmosphere at the Western restaurant was very good. Shen Ningruo had booked a nice table, by the window and quiet. By the time they finished eating, it was almost 8:30. During the meal, Qiu Yang said a lot more to Shen Ningruo, mentioning many ideas about the “future.”

Especially now that they had the means to imagine it.

If, when they first got together, Qiu Yang had felt a bit uncertain and wavering, now she was very firm; she would walk with Shen Ningruo all the way.

After returning home, they hugged for a long time. Shen Ningruo’s anxieties were completely soothed after these few hours, with no signs of recurrence.

If they could just keep hugging like this, that would be perfect.

The next morning, Shen Ningruo woke up a little earlier than usual. After washing up, she went to the breakfast shop at the complex entrance to buy the porridge and dishes Qiu Yang liked and brought them back. As soon as she got home and put them down, she saw Qiu Yang awake and coming out of the bedroom.

“You don’t have an interview today, why are you up so early?” Shen Ningruo walked over and put her arm around her waist.

Qiu Yang rested her head on Shen Ningruo’s shoulder, her voice still soft from just waking up: “Woke up hungry. Last night’s Western food wasn’t very filling.”

“Then we won’t go there again,” Shen Ningruo chuckled, “Go wash up quickly, I’ve bought breakfast.”

“Okay.”

The sunlight had already streamed through the window. Pingzi had slept on the climbing frame last night. He was a golden shaded cat, his color already a bit yellow, and now, bathed in sunlight, it was even more pronounced.

Qiu Yang came out of the bathroom. Shen Ningruo had already set out the breakfast she bought: “Do you have any plans today?”

“No.”

“The first company I interviewed with sent me an email yesterday afternoon asking me to start next Monday.”

“So you can rest for four more days, including today,” Shen Ningruo sat down opposite Qiu Yang.

Qiu Yang nodded: “Yes.”

She picked up a spoon and stirred the lily and lotus seed porridge in front of her: “I’ll drive you to work today.”

“Okay,” Shen Ningruo didn’t refuse.

After dropping Shen Ningruo off at the company, Qiu Yang didn’t rush to leave. She sat in the car for a few minutes before taking the wheel, preparing to go to Wanming.

She wanted to buy Gu Lan a milk tea and give Qi Rong some chocolate, just to celebrate finding a new job.

But before she reached Wanming, a call came in. It was another unsaved number.

However, it wasn’t completely unfamiliar. Qiu Yang knew who it was.

It was Guo Ming’an.

She hadn’t expected Guo Ming’an to call her. It had been a little over ten days since his exposure. In these ten days, besides calling Shen Ningruo once initially, he hadn’t made any other moves.

She pulled the car over to the side of the road, thought for a moment, took out the voice recorder from her bag, and then pressed answer.

She was a little curious about what a “drowned dog” like him had to say.

“Qiu Yang, are you satisfied?” Guo Ming’an’s voice carried a hint of drunkenness, which made Qiu Yang pause.

It was still morning. She didn’t know if Guo Ming’an was still drunk from the night before or if he was drinking this early.

She chuckled: “Satisfied with what?”

“Satisfied that you’ve become a drowned dog across species?”

“Of course, I wasn’t saying you were human. You used to be a rat.”

“I couldn’t reach her number, so I called yours,” Guo Ming’an’s speaking speed wasn’t fast, and there was some heaviness in it, “I think what I owed you, I’ve paid back.”

Qiu Yang looked ahead, her expression somewhat disdainful: “I distinctly remember you telling Ruoruo to ‘just wait’ when you called her last time?”

“I was wrong.”

“I was really wrong.”

Guo Ming’an sounded a bit congested, “I don’t dare go out and see people now. My parents know too. I, I, I…”

“I’m sorry.”

His words sounded somewhat sincere, but if this hadn’t happened, would he have thought he was wrong? Would he have apologized?

He wouldn’t have.

Qiu Yang exhaled, telling herself internally, “Forget it.”

“Please trouble you to pass these words on to her. I will never have anything to do with you again.”

Qiu Yang remained silent, not saying a word.

Guo Ming’an continued speaking: “Do you know how I feel right now? I want to live on another planet.”

“Go ahead, if you can,” Qiu Yang said coldly, then remembered a question, “What about Tao Sixian?”

“I don’t know. I haven’t seen her in a while.”

Qiu Yang’s lips pursed: “What about your marriage?”

“…Divorced.”

Qiu Yang was a little shocked: “Why?”

Guo Ming’an sighed: “Her parents thought I was dirty and couldn’t forgive me, so they made us divorce. But how clean is she?”

Qiu Yang didn’t want to hear him talk about that now: “Did her parents do anything to her?”

“What? You still care about her?” Guo Ming’an asked in surprise.

Qiu Yang rubbed her forehead: “I just want to know her fate.”

“I don’t know. I haven’t seen her again. Maybe she’s busy with work.”

“Do you have anything else to say?”

“So I can block you.”

Guo Ming’an chuckled again: “Then I wish you both, a hundred years of harmony.”

“I won’t wait for you to block me, I’ll block you first.”

He hung up the call after saying that, without any hesitation.

Qiu Yang pressed stop on the voice recorder, feeling relieved but also a little heavy.

She didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she felt like everything was over.

The car started again and soon arrived at the “Jidong” sweet shop.

It was working hours, and still early before closing time, but going upstairs with the items wouldn’t cause much disruption, especially since Gu Lan was at the front desk, making it even more convenient.

She hadn’t told Gu Lan beforehand, leaving room for a surprise.

After a while, she entered the lobby carrying two desserts. The security guard downstairs still remembered her and smiled at her. Qiu Yang returned a smile and went in to wait for the elevator.

Her mood was very calm now, especially with things settled in her heart.

After two “ding” sounds, she entered the elevator.

She was the only one going up, watching the numbers climb.

About ten seconds later, the elevator doors opened.

But to Qiu Yang’s surprise, standing outside the elevator was Wen Yuan. He looked at Qiu Yang, clearly startled, and was about to blurt out “Jie,” but Qiu Yang greeted him first: “Hello, President Wen.”

There were people beside and behind Wen Yuan, so Qiu Yang didn’t want to say anything else and walked out.

The encounter was right after a business meeting. Wen Yuan probably needed to go elsewhere with the partner company to continue talking. He acknowledged her with an “Mm” and then stepped into the elevator.

Gu Lan almost cried out when she saw Qiu Yang, but she managed to control herself: “Xiao Qiu Jie!”

Qiu Yang made a “shush” gesture: “Came to see you.”

She placed the two desserts on the table: “One is for Qi Jie, but it’s not convenient to see her now. Give it to her at noon.”

“Okay,” Gu Lan nodded, “Why don’t you stay here for a bit? We can have lunch together.”

Qiu Yang refused: “I have some other things to do, so I’ll head back first.”

Gu Lan sighed: “Alright.”

Qiu Yang smiled: “But I have some good news: I found a new job and will start next Monday.”

“Congratulations!”

After chatting with Gu Lan for a few more minutes, Qiu Yang went downstairs. Unexpectedly, she ran into Wen Yuan in the lobby. He was sitting on a chair. When he saw Qiu Yang come out, he showed a happy expression and stood up: “Jie.”

“Are you looking for me?”

“No,” Qiu Yang saw his disappointed look after she answered, “Or do you want some dessert?”
