A better aspect of Qiu Yang’s new company was that it was on the same route as Shen Ningruo’s, so now they wouldn’t have to take a detour for their commute.

After resting for over half a month, it was time to start a new job. Qiu Yang felt a bit groggy when she woke up in the morning, but she quickly adjusted and went to report to her new company.

Before getting out of the car, Shen Ningruo said with some concern, “Given what happened with Qu Yan, don’t be so kind to everyone.”

“I know,” Qiu Yang curved her lips into a smile, leaned over, and kissed her cheek. “I’m going now. I’ll text you.”

It was rush hour, and the road was a bit congested. If Shen Ningruo stayed with Qiu Yang any longer, she might be late.

“Okay.”

“See you tonight then.”

Qiu Yang nodded. “Mhm, I’ll head home first.”

Shen Ningruo, however, was still a little worried, looking like she had more to say but held back. In the end, she just reminded her, “Make sure you text me.”

“I will.”

“I’m getting out now.”

Only after Qiu Yang’s figure disappeared from sight did Shen Ningruo withdraw her gaze and drive to the underground parking lot of Qiyao Company.

After the morning meeting, Shen Ningruo went to Qin Yu’s office. Qin Yu was a bit surprised to see her. “What’s up, Ruoruo?”

“Brother.”

“Does Uncle Qin know that my dad has been doing charity work all these years?”

“Yes,” Shen Ningruo sat down on the sofa. “He’s also been visiting my mom’s cemetery often over the years.”

Qin Yu sighed. “Uncle Shen’s feelings for Aunt Liu were very real, it’s just that they both chose the wrong way…”

Shen Ningruo pursed her lips and didn’t say anything more. Thinking about the things Shen Yuankai had quietly done over the years still made her feel incredibly sad.

Especially since Shen Yuankai didn’t have much time left.

Qin Yu raised an eyebrow. “Of course.”

“He’s someone I like, after all.”

He sighed again at this point. “But there’s nothing I can do if he doesn’t like me. I haven’t texted him much lately. After finding out he likes women, I felt I should consciously keep my distance, at least until I stop liking him.”

“But actually, I don’t think I lack the qualifications to turn someone gay. I mean, I’m not bad-looking, my figure is okay, and my family background is decent, right? But when it comes to turning straight people gay, I’m just not very good at it.”

Shen Ningruo: “…”

Shen Ningruo rubbed her forehead. “Brother, don’t be so overconfident.”

Qin Yu scoffed. “I have the right to be confident, don’t I? I’m not some ugly or worthless person.”

Shen Ningruo couldn’t be bothered to argue with him about this anymore and was about to stand up to go back to her office. Qin Yu raised his hand, signaling her to sit back down. “Wait a bit before you go. What’s the rush?”

“So Xiao Qiu started working at the new company today? I know that company. I’m quite familiar with the boss there. Want me to put in a good word?”

“No need.”

“My Xiao Yang has always been excellent. She doesn’t need any backdoor connections.”

Shen Ningruo refused outright and even let out a soft humph. “You, don’t cause trouble.”

Qin Yu slapped the table. “Damn it, get out of here! I’m trying to be nice and tell you this, and you say I’m causing trouble? Is this causing trouble?”

“Hahaha,” Shen Ningruo laughed twice. “Come over for dinner at my place sometime.”

At noon, Qiu Yang sent Shen Ningruo a message, telling her that she had eaten lunch with her colleagues.

There was a public cafeteria on the top floor of the office building where employees from the companies there ate. She joined them and even got a card, which was quite convenient.

Qiu Yang was like a child on their first day of school, reporting what they saw and heard to their family after coming home in the evening. Shen Ningruo’s lips curved up as she read.

Shen Ningruo simply took the afternoon off early. She wanted to pick Qiu Yang up from work.

Qiu Yang’s work day no longer ended at five o’clock like before, but at six. Shen Ningruo was already waiting in the lobby downstairs ahead of time.

She didn’t tell Qiu Yang, just like Qiu Yang hadn’t told her when she used to pick her up.

A lot of people were getting off work. There were six elevators here, and each one was full.

Shen Ningruo stood to the side, afraid of missing Qiu Yang, so she watched intently.

Finally, after five minutes, she saw Qiu Yang appear in her line of sight, along with two colleagues who came down with her.

These two colleagues were a man and a woman, walking on either side of Qiu Yang.

Qiu Yang was chatting and laughing with her colleagues, looking very happy, and didn’t notice Shen Ningruo’s arrival.

Qiu Yang turned her head to look for the source of the sound and saw Shen Ningruo standing about two meters away. She immediately broke into a smile and said “goodbye” to her two colleagues.

In just two meters, Qiu Yang took two seconds to stand in front of Shen Ningruo, looking very happy. “Why are you here?”

“If I didn’t come, would I see you being so popular?” Shen Ningruo smiled, turned around, took Qiu Yang’s hand, and walked towards where she parked.

The two colleagues had already said “see you tomorrow” to Qiu Yang and left.

After getting into the car, Shen Ningruo didn’t drive away immediately but first calmed her breathing.

Qiu Yang pursed her lips. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m so mad,” Shen Ningruo said directly, without beating around the bush. “I’m too familiar with the way that male colleague looked at you.”

“Ah…”

“I also felt something was off. Sister Qin kept quietly egging him on.”

“But it’s only the first day today. I didn’t think it would be like this, so I didn’t think too much about it.”

Shen Ningruo raised her hand and pinched her cheek. “You.”

Qiu Yang took the opportunity to hold Shen Ningruo’s hand. “Don’t worry, Ruoruo, I’ll make it clear to him tomorrow.”

“What will you say?”

“I’ll say I have a partner.”

Shen Ningruo chuckled. “What if he denies being interested in you? Wouldn’t that be awkward?”

“Then I’ll change my approach. Hinting at it is also good, letting him be a listener on the side.”

“That should definitely work.”

Shen Ningruo cleared her throat. “But what should I do? I’m still mad about something else right now.”

“What is it?” Qiu Yang’s eyes sparkled.

Shen Ningruo sighed. “I came to pick up my girlfriend, waited for her in the lobby for so long, and who knew she didn’t even see me and just walked right past.”

Her eyes darted around. “How did you punish me before?”

Qiu Yang: “…”

Okay, she knew Shen Ningruo was deliberately getting revenge.

After getting home, Qiu Yang was very cooperative. When she showered in the evening, she invited Shen Ningruo to join her. She didn’t resist at all, letting Shen Ningruo do whatever she wanted.

Shen Ningruo, however, wasn’t about to let her off the hook. First, she took her for a round in the bathroom, then put on her pajamas and went back to the bedroom, where she made her sit on a chair.

It wasn’t over yet. For the finale, Qiu Yang’s back was against the door, and her right foot was raised and placed on the chair.

These were all things she had done to Shen Ningruo before, and now they were all being returned as revenge.

By the time they were ready for bed, Qiu Yang was almost completely limp and couldn’t move.

She was held by Shen Ningruo, murmuring, “Ruoruo, this is more tiring than working a whole day.”

“It’s okay, Xiao Yang. You’ll feel refreshed after you wake up,” Shen Ningruo tightened her arms around her, kissed the back of her neck, and said softly, “Goodnight.”

Shen Ningruo was right. When she woke up, the fatigue in her body was gone. However, when she looked in the mirror while washing up, she inevitably saw a clear hickey on her collarbone.

But Qiu Yang’s skin was fair, so it looked quite noticeable. Fortunately, she would be wearing a shirt that could cover it completely.

Just like yesterday, Shen Ningruo drove her to the company first.

Qiu Yang still arrived at the company ten minutes early. She sat at her workstation, tidying her desk.

Sister Qin also reacted. “It’s not just you. I’m single too. I didn’t expect Xiao Qiu to have already left the ranks of the single.”

Qiu Yang picked up the milk again and took a sip.

She had originally thought that she and Shen Ningruo might have been overthinking things last night, but she didn’t expect that just one carton of milk would reveal the true situation.

This milk wasn’t bought by Shen Ningruo; neither of them liked drinking it. It was a prop she had bought on the spur of the moment at the supermarket downstairs. She didn’t expect it to actually come in handy. She had originally been thinking about how to bring it up.

At noon, Qiu Yang reported the matter to Shen Ningruo again and received praise from her.

Some seasoned workplace veterans are like this. They aren’t necessarily interested in you because they like you, but because they see you’re young and pretty and want something to happen with you.

Fortunately, after everyone knew Qiu Yang had a partner, this kind of situation stopped.
