PA chapter 70

Some Daily Life

1.

Qin Mudong was known as the “Director of the Vinegar Factory” — infamous for being absurdly jealous. In school, he got jealous over classmates. After entering the workforce, he got jealous over Lu Xingjia’s colleagues. He even got jealous of the dog they adopted — yes, after living together for a few years, they got a dog: a Border Collie from a friend. Beautiful, smart, and obedient.

Initially, Lu Xingjia had wanted to get a cat. Qin Mudong rejected the idea without hesitation. When asked why, he simply said, “I don’t like them.”

That was that. Lu Xingjia liked both cats and dogs, anyway. So when a colleague’s dog had puppies, he brought one home.

The puppy was unbelievably adorable — pure black eyes with a misty sheen. Border Collies looked a bit like pandas — black eyes and ears, with a white nose tip and paws. Lu Xingjia loved it to death. He treated it like a treasure, always cuddling it, even wanting to sleep with it at night — but no, Qin Mudong wouldn’t allow that.

Qin Mudong’s exact words were: “A mature dog should learn to sleep on its own.”

Lu Xingjia found that hilariously absurd.

The puppy was barely palm-sized and waddled when it walked — how could it possibly be called “mature”?

Still, because of mild pet fur allergies, Lu Xingjia didn’t dare let the dog sleep on the bed. At night, he reluctantly said goodbye and placed it in a small bed in the living room.

But puppies take time to adapt. In the middle of the night, it would wake up and scratch at the door, howling pitifully.

One night, Lu Xingjia couldn’t bear it anymore. He got up and brought the puppy back to the bedroom.

The next day, the puppy curled up obediently in his arms and slept soundly. Qin Mudong looked at the little bundle in his arms with a frown and muttered, “Why is the dog so clingy too?”

One day, two days, three days…

The puppy got used to the sweet treatment and would act spoiled every night to sleep with Lu Xingjia. Qin Mudong’s expression grew darker by the day.

On the N-th day, the puppy cried again, and Lu Xingjia got ready to get up. But Qin Mudong wasn’t having it anymore — he pinned Lu Xingjia down on the bed.

Lu Xingjia: “The dog is crying, I have to comfort it!”

Qin Mudong said nothing, bit his shoulder, and made him whimper until dawn.

Thus, the three-month-old puppy was forced to endure a whole night of listening to something from behind the wall…

Later, a friend joked: “As expected of the great Qin! Even his dog matured earlier than others. So young, and before they could even neuter it, it knocked up the neighbor’s little female dog.”

Lu Xingjia’s face turned scarlet, while Qin Mudong just smirked meaningfully.

“Good upbringing,” he said calmly.

……

2.

If everyone had their own little planet, Qin Mudong would live on one called “Can’t Survive Without Jealousy”, while Lu Xingjia’s would probably have no concept of “jealousy” at all.

It wasn’t that he didn’t care about Qin Mudong — rather, Qin Mudong’s cold and distant aura made him feel completely secure.

The only time Lu Xingjia ever got jealous was when Qin Mudong trended on social media for the first time. He had just won an award, and a photo from the ceremony went viral. Netizens quickly found his old, unused Weibo account — it had been auto-registered with his phone number and had zero posts — and suddenly it had tens of thousands of new followers.

Their elderly mentor and professor was surprisingly internet-savvy and told Qin Mudong to post something to promote their team. Qin Mudong reluctantly did, but the comments were flooded with confessions of love.

Stuff like “Handsome guy!” or “I love you!” was one thing, but one comment, “I want to have babies with Mudong Ge!”, shot to the top with likes.

Lu Xingjia had once been one of those fanboys himself. He knew people were joking. But now that he was Qin Mudong’s boyfriend, all those confessions made him a little salty.

He said sourly, “You’re a big star now. So many fans confessing to you.”

Qin Mudong didn’t even look up. Just gave a casual “Mm.”

Lu Xingjia blinked. “That’s it?”

Qin Mudong looked up in confusion. “What else should I say?”

Lu Xingjia: “Aren’t you going to react to all these people confessing to you?”

Qin Mudong, matter-of-factly: “What’s it got to do with me?”

He really didn’t care and hadn’t even realized Lu Xingjia was feeling jealous.

Lu Xingjia laughed helplessly. The jealousy in his heart quietly melted away. He wrapped his arms around Qin Mudong’s neck and kissed his cheek, receiving a long, tender kiss in return.

That night in bed, Qin Mudong finally caught on and asked, “Were you jealous earlier?”

Lu Xingjia hadn’t planned to admit it, but seeing Qin Mudong’s childlike excitement — like he’d gotten candy — he blushed and kissed his cheek again.

“You’re mine,” he whispered.

This super powerful physicist — was his.

…..

3.

After realizing Lu Xingjia could get jealous, Qin Mudong started bringing him along to every event, to give him as much reassurance as possible.

Netizens are sharp-eyed. They quickly noticed the handsome guy always had a pretty young man beside him. At first, they thought Lu Xingjia was his assistant. But after a while, they sensed something more.

Qin Mudong only smiled at Lu Xingjia.

Qin Mudong would take off his coat and give it to Lu Xingjia.

Every time Qin Mudong gave a speech, he’d unconsciously glance in Lu Xingjia’s direction.

Whenever Qin Mudong looked at Lu Xingjia, there was always a glow in his eyes.

Later, Lu Xingjia stumbled upon a fan community page called “Stars Are Coming for You”, full of CP (couple) fans of them both.

CP fans are amazing — they made videos, edited pictures, and even wrote fanfiction. Sentinel/Guide AU, ABO universes — all kinds of wild and spicy scenarios. The range of content was stunning, and the scale? Off the charts. The first time Lu Xingjia saw it, his face turned red.

Shy yet curious, he often browsed through the fan community with great interest, quickly becoming a dedicated fan.

One day, after attending an event together, Lu Xingjia was in the passenger seat scrolling on his phone, grinning and blushing like an idiot.

Qin Mudong asked, “What are you looking at?”

Lu Xingjia quickly hid the phone behind his back and shook his head furiously: “Nothing, nothing!”

No way was he going to let Qin Mudong know he was reading their spicy fanfics. Too shameful!

But the truth always slips out. That night at home, he accidentally blurted something.

He was reading an ABO fic where the Alpha character went through a nesting phase — obsessively collecting his mate’s clothes to build a nest and craving their scent and presence.

The author updated at midnight. Lu Xingjia laughed while reading, then jumped up, waving his phone excitedly: “Look! You’re so cute in this! So clingy!”

Qin Mudong was revising papers in the study. He looked up and asked, “What’s an Alpha?”

“Um… well…”

Lu Xingjia finally realized he’d messed up and frantically tried to change the subject.

But Qin Mudong, being a genius, quickly grasped all the terminology — Alpha, Omega, and more. His research spiraled, and he learned a lot of fun new concepts.

Later, the fanfiction’s many, many positions were… thoroughly tested in real life.

Lu Xingjia could only cry in helplessness.

He swore on the spot — with all netizens as witnesses — that he’d never read fanfiction again!
