QHM Chapter 76 – Part 1

On the starship, Ming Yi locked himself in his room for an entire day.

Clutching his face, now even more swollen than the day before, he gritted his teeth and imagined how he would exact revenge on Huo Lingqi once everything was over.

He was determined to scar Huo Lingqi’s face, making him experience the shame of being unable to show himself in public!

But after tossing and turning until evening, not only did Xue Yuanqing fail to return, but Ming Yi also received a summons from Huo Lingqi.

“What does he want me for? And where’s Xue Yuanqing?!” Ming Yi protested vehemently.

The soldier spoke in a low voice, “It’s related to Captain Xue. He… something happened to him…”

The soldier’s expression was difficult to decipher, and a sense of foreboding crept into Ming Yi’s heart.

Silently cursing Xue Yuanqing as useless, Ming Yi sat on his bed, frustrated for a long time, before reluctantly getting up to change clothes. He once again put on his head covering.

After all, his family had joined forces with the Xue family. If something had happened to Xue Yuanqing, he couldn’t just sit idly by.

With a grim expression, Ming Yi headed toward the Administrative Bureau. His demeanor was anything but that of someone going to retrieve a companion—it looked more like he was spoiling for a fight.

In fact, along the way, he planned out exactly how he would confront Huo Lingqi for failing to take care of Xue Yuanqing. Would he accuse him of settling personal scores? Or demand an explanation for his negligence?

…But when he reached the prison entrance, Ming Yi was so startled that he let out a scream, collapsed onto the ground, and scrambled backward until his back hit the wall!

—Xue… Xue Yuanqing… there were two of him! Two identical Xue Yuanqings!

Xiao Jiu was drawing numbers on the forehead of one of the Xue Yuanqings. Startled by Ming Yi’s scream, the “1” he was writing became crooked. Xiao Jiu straightened up with a displeased expression, sizing Ming Yi up.

The “No. 1” Xue Yuanqing, his face flushed with embarrassment, clenched his fists and muttered through gritted teeth, “Enough already?!”

Xiao Jiu paused for a moment, then hesitantly suggested, “Maybe I should erase it and start over. I have a bit of OCD, and this crooked mark is really bothering me.”[mfn]TL: XD I really love Xiao Jiu 👏🤣[/mfn]

No. 1 Xue Yuanqing: “……”

His face darkened as he snapped, “Since when did you develop OCD? Did it just appear out of nowhere?! That’s enough—get away from me!”

Xiao Jiu looked visibly annoyed.

With a pout, he regrouped and approached the other Xue Yuanqing. Carefully, he began drawing a “2” on his forehead with the same precision as if he were working on a masterpiece.

This Xue Yuanqing, equally humiliated, glared furiously at Ming Yi outside, who didn’t dare to meet his eyes.

…The No. 1 Xue Yuanqing suddenly let out a cold laugh and mocked, “Your act is pretty convincing, isn’t it?”

No. 2 Xue Yuanqing was momentarily taken aback but quickly retorted with a sneer, “As if you’re any better.”

No. 1’s expression darkened. “I am the real Xue Yuanqing. No matter how hard you try, you’ll never be able to truly replace me.”

No. 2’s face fell as well. “Right back at you.”

Outside, Ming Yi was on the verge of a breakdown, overwhelmed by the bizarre scene unfolding before him.

Meanwhile, Xiao Jiu, completely unbothered, finished drawing the “2” and put away his pen, casually remarking, “No. 2’s expression just now was spot-on. No. 1, you could really learn a thing or two.”

No. 2 immediately lit up with delight, while No. 1 exploded in frustration. “It’s just staring! Who wouldn’t know how to do that?!”

No. 2 glanced at him smugly. “Sure, anyone can stare, but my reaction was instinctive, not something you could fake.”

No. 1 yelled back, “Instinctive, my foot!”

The two Xue Yuanqings looked ready to come to blows, but the others outside the room were still rubbing their chins in thought.

Xu Yin cast a glance at Ming Yi, who was still sitting on the floor, utterly dumbfounded, and smiled faintly. “Ah, I wonder how Captain Xue ended up secretly following me, only to give that beast king the perfect opportunity to strike and turn him into… this. If he had just told me earlier that he was around, maybe I could’ve saved him. Such a shame.”

One of the Xue Yuanqings inside: “…”

Ming Yi: “…”

Who in their right mind would confess, “Oh, I’m following you around to see you mess up”? And now look at this—completely shooting himself in the foot!

Both inside and outside the room, there was a shared frustration that words couldn’t express.

Xu Yin’s eyes curved into a smile. “And judging by your reactions, you didn’t know that evolved beasts had developed this kind of ability?”

Ming Yi instinctively nodded, then abruptly realized his mistake and quickly backtracked. “How could we possibly know something like that!”

After speaking, he secretly gritted his teeth—if they’d known, would Xue Yuanqing have fallen into such a trap?

What kind of monstrous abilities were these evolved beasts mutating into? What exactly had happened today to lead to this disaster?!

At this moment, Ming Yi’s thoughts were in turmoil, his inner panic overwhelming him. He tried his best to maintain composure, but cold sweat had already broken out on his forehead.

Xu Yin noticed every subtle reaction and let his gaze shift slightly.

It seemed that the beast king’s original plan had been to copy Xue Yuanqing and infiltrate Huo Lingqi’s side, pretending to be him.

However, since Ming Yi and Xue Yuanqing didn’t even know about the evolved beasts’ copying abilities, it was clear they’d been completely kept in the dark when this plan was first discussed.

And yet they still dared to collaborate with these creatures?

Should one call that boldness or…

018 interjected, “It’s stupidity—no need for further analysis!”

Huo Lingqi, pulling Xu Yin closer by the waist, cast a glance at Ming Yi and spoke in a low, deliberate voice. “Is there anything that only you and Xue Yuanqing would know? You could use it to test them.”

Everyone turned their attention to Ming Yi.

Some of Huo Lingqi’s subordinates remained on the lower-tier planet to investigate further. While the full truth wasn’t yet uncovered, one thing was clear: the evolved beasts could replicate human memories. The only question was how thoroughly they could do so.

Earlier, they had tried questioning the two Xue Yuanqings but hadn’t managed to uncover anything conclusive. Thus, they decided to call in Ming Yi, Xue Yuanqing’s supposed boyfriend, as a test. Though, truth be told, no one held high expectations for the results.

Upon hearing Huo Lingqi’s instructions, Ming Yi’s cowardly nature surfaced. He trembled slightly, looking nervously at the two Xue Yuanqings pulling at each other’s hair inside the cell. The thought that one of them was an evolved beast sent shivers down his spine, and he really didn’t want to stay there any longer.

But with so many eyes on him, there was nowhere to hide. Swallowing hard, he hesitated and tried to think of something only he and Xue Yuanqing would know.

Still rattled from earlier, his mind was blank, and before he realized it, he blurted out, “W-when was the first time we…?”

Xiao Jiu and Lu Yuan blinked in unison, their faces lighting up with expressions of sheer amazement.

The moment Ming Yi realized what he’d just said, he froze, his face turning crimson with embarrassment. He was about to backtrack and suggest another question when the two Xue Yuanqings inside stopped fighting. Their ears perked up, and they eagerly jumped into a competitive race to answer!

No. 1 shot his hand up immediately, shouting, “Three months ago!”

No. 2 wasn’t far behind, calling out, “On July 31st of the Star Nation’s standard calendar!”

Both of them answered correctly!

The two Xue Yuanqings glared daggers at each other, while Ming Yi stood there dumbfounded, and Xu Yin and the others raised their eyebrows in surprise.

A second later, No. 1 gritted his teeth, his face flushed, and added, “It was… it was at 10 p.m. on July 31st!”

No. 2 let out a cold laugh, pointing at Ming Yi. “I also remember he was the first to take his clothes off! He stripped completely and then pounced on the bed so hard it broke!”

Xu Yin, Lu Yuan, and Xiao Jiu: “Wow.”[mfn]TL: Wow[/mfn]

Ming Yi: “???”

Ming Yi’s face twisted in horror as he realized things were spiraling out of control. He tried to interject, “Wait, that’s enough. You—”

Before he could finish, No. 1 lunged forward, pointing at Ming Yi and yelling, “He’s a 0.5! That night, after he had his fun, he even wanted me to top him. But since I’m a pure 0, I refused! He got so mad about it later!”[mfn]TL: 0 means bottom/receiver; 0.5 means switch (can be bottom/top); 1 means top/attacker. They 👉👌🤣[/mfn]

Xu Yin, Huo Lingqi, Lu Yuan, and Xiao Jiu all turned to Ming Yi with wide-eyed amazement.

“???” Ming Yi was on the verge of losing his mind. He shouted, “Enough! Stop it! Shut up!”

But No. 1 and No. 2 were fully locked in their argument now.

No. 2 angrily declared, “I also remember he has a mole on his butt!”

No. 1 sneered, “Well, I remember he has really long hair on his left chest!”

No. 2, gritting his teeth, retorted, “He only lasts three minutes!”

No. 1 puffed out his chest and roared, “He’s only as big as my thumb!”

Ming Yi: “AAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!”[mfn]TL: kekekeke[/mfn]

Unable to take it anymore, Ming Yi stormed into the cell and threw himself at the two Xue Yuanqings, seemingly ready to die alongside them.

Huo Lingqi gave a single glance, and Xiao Jiu and Lu Yuan rushed in to pull the three apart.

Xu Yin stroked his chin thoughtfully and said in a calm tone, “It seems the evolved beast really can replicate memories quite thoroughly.”

Xiao Jiu nodded. “Extremely comprehensive.”

Lu Yuan added, “Flawless.”

Huo Lingqi gave an approving nod.

Meanwhile, Ming Yi was still screaming, “I’m going to kill you both!!!”

Suddenly, Xiao Jiu seemed to recall something. “Wait, aren’t evolved beasts strictly heterosexual creatures?”

This statement jolted the other three into realization. Lu Yuan’s eyes lit up as Ming Yi, panting heavily, felt a bad premonition rise again.

Lu Yuan exclaimed, “That’s right! Evolved beasts can’t tolerate homosexuality! I heard that even a kiss from the same sex could make them vomit!”

Ming Yi trembled. “What are you planning—”

Both Lu Yuan and Xiao Jiu turned to look at him, their gazes practically spelling out: It’s your time to shine!

Ming Yi’s eyes rolled back, and he nearly fainted.

With a pale face, he protested, “One of them is the evolved beast…”

“And right now, both of them look like Xue Yuanqing,” Xiao Jiu countered, crossing his arms and raising a brow. “Ming Yi, this is your boyfriend. Don’t you want to figure out who’s the real one and who’s the imposter?”

“We’re stuck on an exile planet—no testing facilities, no medical personnel, nothing. The easiest way to figure this out is for you to kiss them. Are you saying you can’t even make this small sacrifice? If so, forget about being a soldier—this would make you a laughingstock across the entire network!”

Ming Yi: “I refuse—”

Before Ming Yi could finish protesting, No. 1 and No. 2 lunged forward, both red-faced with urgency.

“I can do it!”

“So can I!”

“Move aside! Not only can I kiss him, but I can even sleep with him! Can you, you hetero evolved beast?”

“Why wouldn’t I? Not only can I sleep with him, I can fulfill his wish to be a bottom tonight!”

Ming Yi found himself pinned beneath the two of them, screaming, “Help! Help-”

Xu Yin commented dryly, “Wow.”

The cell dissolved into chaos. Xiao Jiu and Lu Yuan rushed forward yet again to rescue Ming Yi from the clutches of the two Xue Yuanqings.

When they finally pulled him free, Ming Yi’s eyes had rolled back, and foam was bubbling at his mouth.

Lu Yuan wiped his brow. “Honestly, whether it’s the evolved beast or not, this beast king is putting in some serious effort.”

No. 1 and No. 2 were left panting, their hair and clothes disheveled, glaring fiercely at Ming Yi, who lay twitching on the ground, still frothing and shivering involuntarily.

Xiao Jiu sighed. “Looks like there’s no choice but to call in the battlefield testing team.[mfn]TL: like the inspection team on the field after the war[/mfn] They’ll have to come through the spatial tunnel, but it’ll take at least another half hour. Such a hassle.”

Ming Yi’s body gave one final spasm before his head lolled to the side, and he completely passed out.

It’s a real shame that one of the very rare versatile characters happens to be a scumbag. It is quite a funny scene, though.
