QHM Chapter 87 – Part 1

The two of their faces flushed bright red.

Chen Yu was cursing the developer of this game instance and their ancestors in his heart, but before they could say anything more, the third question followed closely.

The question was: “Please describe your most recent ex in more than fifteen characters.”

Chen Yu: “???”

He was about to explode on the spot!!

What the hell kind of bullshit questions are these today?! Why are they all like this?!

Instantly, everyone looked at him, and the barrage of comments got even more intense. Chen Yu panted heavily, gritting his teeth as he glared at the others.

Xu Yin smiled and said, “I’ll go first this time. I don’t have an ex, so I can’t describe one.” Green circle.

Yan Shixiu: “I don’t have one either.” Green circle.

Chen Yu’s face began twitching. He gritted his teeth and said, “Isn’t this a bit unfair?”

Yan Shixiu glanced at him expressionlessly, and Xu Yin smiled.

Both their faces clearly read: Then go file a complaint with the developer.

Chen Yu: F**k ahhhhh!!!

A-Lian saw the man next to her’s face twisted up. She swallowed hard and lost the earlier arrogance she had, her tone now cautious: “I… my ex is my… classmate, like, he’s quite handsome, and his grades were really good…”

Green circle.

Then only ShuangchengShuangcheng and Chen Yu were left.

ShuangchengShuangcheng said expressionlessly: “He’s only 5’7’’ tall, his face always looks unwashed and is full of acne, plus he never shaves properly. His mouth always stinks, he brushes his teeth for only three seconds a day, and he can go a whole week without changing clothes even in summer. He’s got so much belly fat it could be a swim ring, yet he always acts so confident—”

A-Lian: “???”

Barrage: “???”

“ShuangchengShuangcheng, why were you with him before?”

“What were you doing it all for!!”

“Suffocating???”

Chen Yu’s face turned crimson as he shouted: “I wasn’t that bad! And you already went over fifteen characters—thank you very much!!!”

ShuangchengShuangcheng froze for a moment. The next second, a red X appeared above her head.

Chen Yu immediately pointed at the X with glee: “See! She lied!! I told you she was lying!!”

Shuangcheng looked up in surprise, touched her chest, and frowned at Chen Yu: “You suddenly yelled just now and startled me. I request to redo my answer.”

Chen Yu flew into a rage: “Shut up already!!!”

Despite that, A-Lian was clearly shaken. She was in a daze for a moment, then subconsciously glanced at Shuangcheng with a questioning gaze.

Shuangcheng glanced back at her but said nothing.

A-Lian instantly looked uneasy, awkwardly trying to pull back the hand linked with Chen Yu’s. Chen Yu smack pressed it down and stared at her: “You don’t believe me again?”

A-Lian was trembling by now: “I-I-I-I didn’t?”

Why does this suddenly feel like riding a tiger and not being able to get off???

But right now her mind was full of “acne,” “bad breath,” and “not changing clothes for a week in summer”???

“Only you are left,” Xu Yin chimed in at the right moment, reminding, “Hurry up and say it, don’t waste time.”

Chen Yu choked a little, glared fiercely at Xu Yin, then was met with a cold stare from Yan Shixiu in return. He trembled and muttered aggrievedly: “…She was quite pretty.”

As soon as he said the first sentence, he saw the barrage full of comments like “yuck yuck yuck,” “Shuangcheng was really wasted,” “scumbag.” Then he looked at Shuangcheng’s emotionless face, and Chen Yu was truly pushed to the edge.

He suddenly let out a cold laugh, and in a moment of reckless defiance, said arrogantly, “She was so sexy. Have big boobs, small waist, long legs, and really good at acting cute. Not like someone, cold as a guy—ow!!”

He was sent flying by a fierce kick from Shuangcheng!

A-Lian screamed, Shuangcheng retracted her leg without a change in expression, and Chen Yu was lying on the floor clutching his stomach, face dark with pain and unable to get up.

Shuangcheng opened her mouth and said coldly: “Shut up, Enoki mushroom man.”

Chen Yu: “…………”

A-Lian: “…………”

Chen Yu pointed at Shuangcheng and shouted at the air: “That player just launched a personal attack! Aren’t the game officials going to do anything about it?!”

Silence. No response from the air.

Barrage:

“???? Ahahahaha that was satisfying, thanks!”

“Shuangcheng’s kick wasn’t even accurate enough, hahahaha!”

“Ahahahaha I’m dying of laughter!!”

Chen Yu was so furious he could almost cough up blood!!

He struggled to get up, face full of rage like he wanted to leap at Shuangcheng and rip off a piece of her flesh… But would he dare?

…He wouldn’t!!

Just this past Monday he had been publicly beaten up by this woman! If it happened again, wouldn’t he lose all face?!

Chen Yu had never won in a fight with her. And if he really pissed her off, he genuinely suspected she’d hop on a high-speed train just to come beat him up in real life!

…Just the thought made Chen Yu chicken out!

So he had no choice but to swallow the rage down, glaring at Shuangcheng viciously!

So infuriating! So humiliating!

Shuangcheng glanced at him, completely unfazed, and even narrowed her eyes as if to say: What, you want a round two?

Chen Yu: “…………”

No thanks.

Just then, the Truth or Dare round ended, and three beams of light fell onto Shuangcheng, Chen Yu, and A-Lian. Only the three of them had given wrong answers during the three rounds of questions.

At the same time, two doors lit up with a faint glow, like the lights had been turned on inside.

One door clearly led to the master bedroom. The other had a cute moon sign hanging on it — clearly a child’s room.

The system gave no further instructions, which meant the three of them had to enter those two rooms to explore. One of the rooms could accommodate two people.

A-Lian felt a bit awkward. There was no way Shuangcheng and the God of Chuuni were going to team up, so the only one who could choose was… her.

After a moment’s hesitation, she forced herself to run over to Chen Yu’s side and asked softly, “Gege, are you okay?”

Chen Yu gave her a dark look and said through gritted teeth, “I’m fine!”

Shuangcheng remained calm: “You two pick a room. I’ll take the other one.”

The master bedroom was larger and harder to search, and in a horror game setting, it obviously looked more like a place a monster would appear. Chen Yu had zero interest in playing gentleman now. He sneered coldly: “Then I’ll take the kid’s room.”

With that, he rubbed his stomach where he’d been kicked and walked grim-faced toward the child’s bedroom. He passed through the previously established living room barrier without issue.

A-Lian quickly followed.

Shuangcheng didn’t say a word and headed straight into the master bedroom.

Both doors opened at the same time. The rooms inside were indeed lit, and the doors automatically locked behind them.

Only Xu Yin and Yan Shixiu were left in the living room.

They looked at each other.

Then leaned in close, touching foreheads.

Taking the opportunity, Yan Shixiu even released a flurry of little pink petals.

Barrage:

“Hahaha as soon as the other three left, the whole vibe changed!”

“Everything suddenly feels so sweet~”

“Flower god is sprinkling petals again!”

“I just realized why the Flower God is called ‘Flower’!”

Xu Yin leaned over to Yan Shixiu’s ear and whispered, “Shuangcheng’s answer just now shouldn’t count as a lie.”

Yan Shixiu froze for a moment, looked at him in confusion as if asking—how do you know?

Xu Yin briefly recounted the incident when he ran into the God of Chuuni in the cafeteria. Yan Shixiu frowned and asked in a low voice, “Why didn’t you tell me that day?”

“Hmm? Because it wasn’t important,” Xu Yin said with a light laugh.

They were just about to have lunch then—talking about something so off-putting would have killed the appetite, wouldn’t it?

Right now, Xu Yin just felt like chatting, so he brought it up casually.

Yan Shixiu immediately struck a serious face and released a flurry of petals. Xu Yin felt like this man probably just wanted to cleanse his eyes.

Just as the petals faded, a sudden scream came from the other side. The two of them instantly straightened and looked over, only to see the child’s room door slam open with a “bang!” A-Lian came rolling and crawling out, followed by Chen Yu a couple of seconds later. After they exited, the room door shut automatically!

However, as they reached the edge of the living room, they were blocked by a barrier. A floating subtitle appeared in the air: “00:32 remaining.”

“You have to reach the designated time during exploration to return to the living room?” Xu Yin was surprised.

Judging by the countdown, the duration was roughly two minutes.

Seeing she was trapped outside, A-Lian went completely pale. Terrified, she looked back and only after confirming the child’s room door had shut did her entire body relax. She collapsed to the ground, wailing: “There’s a ghost in the child’s room! In the closet! There’s a ghost in the closet!”

Chen Yu stood behind her, bent over, hands on knees, panting like crazy, clearly still shaken.

At that moment, Shuangcheng seemed to have heard the commotion and walked out, her expression unreadable: “What happened?”

The subtitle in the air reached zero and disappeared. Xu Yin said, “Come in and talk.”

After coming back in, the five of them moved the candles to the dining table and finally sat down.

It took a while for A-Lian to calm down. After all, this was just a game, not reality.

But still, she was left feeling utterly helpless.

The God of Chuuni said hoarsely, “After we went in, we searched around the room. Before we found any clues, A-Lian opened the closet. A ghost jumped out—we didn’t get a good look at it, just knew it was a big, black figure.”

A-Lian shivered and added, “It was a really tall ghost, about the same height as Chuuni. As soon as I opened the closet, it lunged at me, like it was going to bite!”

The God of Chuuni said, “I got tangled with it while escaping. I threw a child’s backpack at it and that’s how I got away.”

Xu Yin asked, “You didn’t see its face?”

The God of Chuuni shook his head: “Nope, it looked like a shadow, just pitch-black, no facial features.”

Xu Yin asked Shuangcheng, “What about you? Did you run into anything?”

“No ghost,” Shuangcheng said, pulling a small notebook from her pocket. “I just found this.”

On the cover were the words: “Diary.”

Everyone instantly understood.

This was a typical kind of item in these kinds of games.

Xu Yin opened it and said calmly, “Let’s take a look.”

The handwriting inside was casual. The first line noted the date and day of the week. The content read:

“Today is a special day. A-Cheng and I brought Yangyang home from the orphanage. He’s very obedient and well-behaved, and called us ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad.’ From today on, we are a family of three. I’m really looking forward to our future together.”

Everyone exchanged glances.

The child in this family of three had been adopted, and the “I” in the diary was the woman of the house—Yangyang’s adoptive mother.

They kept reading.

“Today we went to the mall and bought lots of clothes for Yangyang. He was very happy, but also a bit timid. When he saw strangers, he would hide behind us, looking scared yet curious. He’s just so adorable it makes my heart ache. I’ll treat him like my own son. I need to take him out more so he can slowly become braver.”

“Yangyang has such a huge appetite! He can eat three bowls of rice in one go—he eats more than both A-Cheng and me. Being able to eat is a blessing, so it’s a good thing.”
