Upon hearing Fu Shu’s words, Su Duo hurriedly turned off the lights and closed the door in a fluster.
As for Fu Shu, she felt nothing in particular about it.
In her eyes, Su Duo was merely a woman whom Bai Qu and Youyou had saved out of a moment of kindness. She had no connection to her, and notions like “loving someone for another’s sake” were never something Fu Shu cared for.
In the darkness, Fu Shu gently kissed the corner of Youyou’s lips. Then, through the fabric of her pajamas, she pinched the girl’s flat stomach and rubbed it indulgently a couple of times.
“Hmph, I hate it when others get close to you.”
Muttering softly under her breath, Fu Shu closed her eyes, pulling the girl even closer into her embrace. Though Youyou was a little silly and naive, her popularity was undeniable. Fu Shu remembered that back in university, it wasn’t just their classmates, but even the girls in Youyou’s dorm used to gush about how adorable she was, leaving Fu Shu seething with jealousy.
If she hadn’t shamelessly pursued Youyou and claimed her openly, Fu Shu was certain she’d have drowned in her own jealousy sooner or later.
Praising her own impeccable taste, Fu Shu’s lips curved into a smile, even as she drifted off to sleep, looking nothing like the stereotypical domineering CEO she was often perceived to be.
She slept soundly that night.
By the time Youyou woke up the next morning, Fu Shu and Su Duo were already up and about.
Thinking the house was empty except for Fu SHu, Youyou casually strolled into the living room wearing a pink spaghetti-strap nightgown. The outcome was predictable: Fu Shu’s expression instantly darkened, while Su Duo, sitting quietly at the dining table eating breakfast, blushed slightly before quickly averting her gaze.
It wasn’t that Su Duo would normally care about such things—after all, they were both women, and seeing each other in less-than-formal attire wasn’t usually a big deal. However, ever since learning yesterday that Youyou had a girlfriend—and that people of the same gender could be romantically involved—Su Duo couldn’t stop feeling a bit uneasy.
It was as if a door she hadn’t known existed had been opened, and now she couldn’t look at these situations the same way anymore.
“Ah, Su Duo, you’re here too?”
Not sensing anything wrong with her attire, Youyou looked at Su Duo in surprise, Youyou looked at Su Duo in surprise, her face brimming with joy and excitement.
“Yeah, I came back last night.”
Now that Youyou had directly addressed her, Su Duo couldn’t keep pretending to stay silent or oblivious. She forced a smile in response. However, when her peripheral vision caught sight of that woman—Fu Shu—whose expression had grown even colder, Su Duo immediately caved under the pressure. “This is your girlfriend, right? She’s beautiful. You two look great together.”
Her words instantly lifted Fu Shu’s mood, shifting her expression from gloomy to sunny, while Youyou blushed deeply, feeling shy and flustered.
Scratching the back of her head awkwardly , Youyou nodded and admitted Fu Shu’s identity. “Yes, this is Fu Shu. She’s super smart. If you ever have questions about anything, you can ask her.”
Silently scoffing at the idea of daring to ask Fu Shu anything, Su Duo sipped her chicken soup, still feeling a sense of surprise about Youyou Fu Shu’s relationship.
After all, Youyou was clearly someone as pure as can be, while Fu Shu—though Su Duo didn’t know her well—was undeniably a “bad” type of person.
That occasional flash of hostility in Fu Shu’s demeanor was something far beyond what an ordinary person would possess.
Could two people so diametrically opposed truly find happiness together?
“Alright, go change your clothes. I bought your favorite food.”
Earlier, Su Duo had been eating at the dining table, while Fu Shu had set up breakfast for herself and Youyou on the coffee table in front of the sofa, knowing full well that the young girl loved watching TV while she ate.
Fu Shu now only wanted to spoil Youyou endlessly, making sure she would never leave her.
Holding Youyou’s smaller hand, Fu Shu led her into the bedroom. She was reasonably satisfied with Su Duo’s tactfulness—after all, all of her gentleness and patience were reserved exclusively for Youyou.
As for anyone else? Heh, not a chance.
Under Fu Shu direction, Youyou changed into a oink knee-length dress. But when she stepped out of the bathroom, she suddenly noticed something off about Fu Shu.
“Huh? Did you change your clothes?”
Yesterday, Fu Shu had been wearing a suit, and her pajamas had been borrowed from Youyou. But now, she was dressed in a white shirt and black cropped trousers. Where did those come from?
Wasn’t she bankrupt? Didn’t she have nothing left?
“Mm.”
Unexpectedly, Youyou had grown more perceptive. Fu Shu’s expression remained calm as she responded nonchalantly. “You know, I was forced out of the company. They didn’t take my car, and the clothes—I got them from the car.”
“Oh.”
Nodding to show she understood, Youyou headed to eat. Su Duo had already finished her meal.
“Youyou, I’m done eating. I’m heading to school now. Bye!”
It was as if someone was chasing her. Without waiting for Youyou to reply, Su Duo bolted out the door, her footsteps echoing loudly as she ran, leaving Youyou stunned.
“Uh?”
What’s up with Su Duo?
“Stop staring and eat your breakfast. Don’t you like watching cartoons? Find something to watch,” Fu Shu said, clearly unhappy with Youyou paying attention to anyone else. She led Youyou to the sofa, placed the remote in her hand, and then busied herself arranging the breakfast plates and bowls with near-obsessive precision, everything meticulously aligned.
”Oh, okay”
Youyou’s attention was effortlessly redirected. She quickly found an appealing cartoon and settled in, smiling happily as Fu Shu fed her while she watched.
Life couldn’t have been more carefree.
Meanwhile, in the room across from Youyou’s two young in sharp suits, exuding a professional air, were grimacing as they ate plain bread. To them, it tasted like cardboard.
“Wuwuwuwu, boss is so ruthless! All we did was ask when we might return while delivering breakfast, and now our salaries are docked, and we’re stuck eating bread for three days as punishment.”
“It’s fine, once boss wins her wife back, we’ll be able to return.”
The handsome-looking young man patted his companion on the shoulder, while another cold-faced man wearing gold-rimmed glasses smiled devilishly.
“Even if we return, the chief assistant will tear us apart and eat us alive.”
The delicate young man fell silent at this, feeling an invisible tear of frustration roll down his cheek. Both of them worked as assistants to the boss. They had been thrilled when the boss summoned them upon waking, but their joy was short-lived. The mere thought of the chief assistant’s endless barrage of calls demanding they reveal the boss’s whereabouts made their hearts sink.
It was unfair. The boss reprimanded the chief assistant, who then took out his frustrations on them. Worse, he knew they were strictly forbidden by the boss from saying anything, yet he kept interrogating them anyway.
