RoCD Chapter 61

Arc 4: Domineering CEO dotes on her wife (7)

And so it went.

For several days, Youyou and Fu Shu got along harmoniously.

Although Youyou’s mood was fickle and unpredictable due to her worries about Bai Qu, under Fu Shu’s meticulous care and comfort, she felt too embarrassed to lose her temper with Fu Shu anymore. Not that she ever truly lost her temper; Youyou would just become sullen, stop talking, and ignore Fu Shu.

It was a known fact that when people with autism feel anxious, they become even more silent and withdrawn. And while Youyou had become much more like a typical person under the subtle guidance of Bai Qu and Su Ling, deep down, she still found it incredibly difficult to proactively open up to others and voice her insecurities.

The summer weather grew hotter, and the amount of ice cream Youyou ate increased accordingly.

One day, Youyou was draped limply over the bookstore counter, so lazy she couldn’t be bothered to move a muscle, and she directly asked Fu Shu to feed her.

“You’re so spoiled.”

The ice cream was chocolate-flavored. Fu Shu tasted it first before feeding it to her. The young woman’s tongue was soft and pink, and every time it peeked out, it carried a unique sort of allure. Fu Shu’s gaze darkened as she watched. She thought to herself, I have to speed things up. I want to devour her. I. Need. To. Devour. Her.

She desperately wanted to.

“Fu Shu.”

The cool, creamy chocolate melted quickly in her mouth. Youyou tilted her head back to swallow the ice cream, her serene gaze fixed on Fu Shu.

“Fu Shu, I miss Bai Qu.”

She didn’t know if Bai Qu had managed to rescue Su Ling yet, and she was very worried.

“Don’t worry, he’ll be fine.”

Already accustomed to such questions, Fu Shu’s expression didn’t change. But then a thought suddenly struck her. She put down the ice cream and asked Youyou, “Um, Youyou, can you tell me about the plot of this world? Bai Qu mentioned your system, Xixi, to me, and that your mission is to win me over and gain 100% of my love. Otherwise, you’ll get hurt.”

This was something she had wanted to figure out ever since she had transmigrated back from the book world.

Truthfully, she didn’t mind that Youyou had approached her with ulterior motives, because she knew better than anyone that, besides Youyou, she would never fall in love with or even like anyone else.

In the world of the book she’d transmigrated to, the protagonists were Bai Youyou and Ling Ya, and Youyou’s mission at the time was to win over Ling Ya. So, what about in this world?

Was she the main character here?

Youyou: “…”

“Huh?”

The thought that Fu Shu knew she had a system—and even knew her mission was to win her over—left Youyou completely stunned.

Staring at Fu Shu in utter disbelief, Youyou shot upright, the panic and helplessness on her face making Fu Shu want to both laugh and comfort her.

“Shh, don’t be scared, Youyou. I like that you’re trying to win me over.”

Taking the young woman’s hand, Fu Shu brought it to her lips and kissed it gently, her eyes filled with a deep, doting smile.

“I like you, Youyou, so I can accept all of that. I’m just curious what this world is supposed to be like. Can you tell me?”

If this world, like the book world, had a specific story synopsis, timeline, and character arcs, then Fu Shu was particularly eager to know what her and Youyou’s future held—for instance, whether it was a happy and fulfilling one.

The plot could be changed.

Having transmigrated before, Fu Shu understood this point well.

She had already made up her mind. If her and Youyou’s ending was good, she would follow the plot. If the ending was bad… then too bad.

She would eradicate every last malicious element that stood in their way.

Fu Shu’s calm was contagious, and Youyou gradually settled down. She mentally called out to Xixi, and after getting her system’s approval, Youyou told Fu Shu everything about this world’s original plot and its “spinoff” version.

And so, Fu Shu found herself listening to a massive rant from Youyou.

Something about how she (Fu Shu) and a girl named Qian Li were originally deeply in love and living happily, but it was all ruined by the reborn Su Rui. She went on about how pitiful the original Qian Li was, how her ending was tragic—how the reborn Su Rui had hired people to gang-rape and then murder her. She even said that she (Fu Shu) was a total player who first liked Qian Li and then fell for the reborn Su Rui.

As she spoke, the young woman’s eyes grew red, and she glared at Fu Shu with puffed cheeks, as if she had committed some unforgivable sin.

Fu Shu: “…”

What the hell?

After coaxing a bit more out of Youyou, Fu Shu finally understood.

She already knew that Youyou was not the original Qian Li. As for the “original plot,” the “spinoff plot,” and the accusations that she was a “terrible, scum-like player,” Fu Shu refused to take the blame for any of it.

After all, others might not know her, but how could she not know herself?

She would never like Su Rui, regardless of whether the woman was reborn or not. As for the original Qian Li, back when she first noticed that Youyou seemed slow, couldn’t understand her university courses, and was often in a daze, she had already conducted a thorough background check on Qian Li. The final result of that investigation was:

Reason unknown.

But it was very clear that the university-era Qian Li had indeed changed.

At the time, Fu Shu hadn’t considered that a soul had been swapped. She had simply assumed that the optimistic girl who grew up in an orphanage had, after getting into university, finally cast off her past gloom, liberated her true nature, and now just wanted to live a lazy, comfortable life. After all, in some ways, Qian Li and Youyou had their similarities.

It wasn’t until she met Bai Qu that Fu Shu understood: this Qian Li was not that Qian Li.

So, the question was, did Fu Shu like the original Qian Li?

The answer was a definite no.

Fu Shu clearly remembered feeling exceptionally detached while reviewing Qian Li’s life story. Even though the files showed that Qian Li had suffered a great deal, she felt a surprising lack of pity or compassion.

She poked the girl’s cheek with a helpless sigh, her features as picturesque as a painting. “I only like you, you silly girl.”

Even though she had no idea what that so-called plot was all about, Fu Shu was certain that this person right here was the only one she cared about.

Lifting Youyou’s chin with two fingers, Fu Shu blinked and said in a wronged tone, “I’ve become like this all for you, and you still have the heart to call me a player?”

Youyou: “…”

She had always known Fu Shu was beautiful, but after all this time, her charm hadn’t diminished in the slightest. In fact, she had gotten even more, more, more gorgeous.

A hint of shyness flashed in her clear, water-like eyes. Youyou suddenly buried herself in Fu Shu’s embrace, her arms wrapping around Fu Shu’s waist as she let out a soft “mhm.”

What does ‘mhm’ mean?

Fu Shu raised an eyebrow playfully. Seeing the young woman so shy that she had buried her head in her chest, refusing to even look up, leaving only her slender neck and pale earlobes exposed, Fu Shu’s heart instantly melted.

Slowly stroking the girl’s back, Fu Shu’s lips curved into a smile as she asked, “Why did you break up with me before, Youyou? Was it just because of Bai Qu?”

She could understand Bai Qu not approving of her.

But how could Youyou, having lost her memories of the book world, abandon her so quickly?

“Hmph.”

The moment this was brought up, Youyou became very, very angry. Even though Bai Qu had already comforted her about it back then, the memory of Fu Shu’s mother’s aggressive demeanor was enough to make Youyou bite down on Fu Shu’s arm.

“Your mother… she bad-mouthed me, threw a check at me, and told me to leave you.”

Each word was spoken deliberately, filled with the indignant tone of someone tattling on another.
